Kevin Kilbane played the full ninety minutes as the Irish went down 1-0 to Chile in front of over 41,000 at Lansdowne Road. World Cup hopefuls Chile beat a below par Irish side, with Steve Staunton's side going down to a first half strike by Manuel Iturra. In fact, Killa ended up in the second half playing centre half, as new boss Staunton started experimenting. Jesus, that's some experiment, watch out Joey and Stubbsey. Staunton says: "We experimented and we learned a lot from this defeat that will help us for the Europeans next season. There were one or two good things that came out of it … Kevin Kilbane played centre-back in the second half and I was delighted." (25/05/06) |

They will now meet Japan on Saturday, and if they avoid defeat by a big margin, they will go back to Scotland with a piece of silverware in their possession. Ex Blues Boss Walter Smith says: "We played very well and took our opportunities. I am pleased with the way the game turned out." (11/05/06) |

Jimmy Mac and Davey Weir were in the Scottish line up that went down 3-1 at home to the Swiss. Nace was not risked by ex Blues Boss Walter Smith, as only 20,00 Jocks turned up to cheers their boys on. Zinedine Kilbane was left on the bench as the Republic thrashed Sweden 3-0. Ex shite player Steve Staunton opted for more youth than experience in his first game in charge of the Republic. Gary Naysmith's injury nightmare seems to be behind him after ex Everton Boss Walter Smith recalled him to the International fold for Scotland's friendly against Switzerland in March. Also called up were Jimmy Mac and Davey Weir, but Walter is just happy to have Nace at his disposal again. Walter says: "He has come on as a substitute a few times so obviously he'll be a bit short of match fitness. But it's a position in which we are not that well endowed with players so it will give him an opportunity to come back and get involved in the squad. Gary
brings experience and he has been a regular member of the squad prior
to his injury, and he's one of those players who will be disappointed
to be out so long. If anything at all, hopefully it can kick-start his
selection for Everton again." (20/02/06) |

Nigeria beat
Senegal 1-0 to give Joey's side the 3rd place in the African Cup of Nations.
Joey went up for a corner and missed a sitter when he scooped the ball
over the bar from 10 yards. He has played in every minute of all 6 games
in the tournie. Joey will be back and hopefully available for the game
at Newcastle next Saturday. (10/02/06) |

Joey is through to the semi finals of the African Cup of Nations, as Nigeria beat Tunisia 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Joe had the honour of missing the first pen. Joey
says: "I
feel relieved but I had to take the responsibility. I was the captain
and when I took the first one and missed I knew there were four other
guys behind me and we just believed in ourselves that we were going to
win today. I think people start getting nervous, it is not easy to walk
up there and take a penalty but you have to take the responsibility. I
played the whole game and I had to stand up there and take mine and I
missed it but the other guys stood up and we won today. We hope we can
go all the way now." (05/02/06) |

Blue Kipper reporter Opatola Utaka was in Port Said, Egypt for the African Nations Cup and sent this report on Joey's performance in the 2-0 win over Zimbabwe. Opa says: "Joseph was a very calming influence over his players. He controlled the defence. When Zimbabwe's best player threatened the Super Eagles, Joseph was always there with a tackle or a block. This result puts Nigeria in poll position to qualify and keep Joseph's dream alive of captaining Nigeria to with The African Cup of Nations. It was nice to see Daniel Amokachi at the tournament, looking very well." (28/01/06) |

Joey Yobo captained his Nigerian side, as they opened their African Nations account with a 1-0 win over Ghana. Joey who will be missing for another fortnight due to the crazy timing of the International Tournament has left Moyesy with a defensive headache for this weekends Cup clash with Chelski. Davey Weir is the only fit and available centre half, with Matteo Ferrari struggling against injury, and Stubbsey is cup tied. (24/01/06) |

Phil Neville got splinters as an unused sub in England's 3-2 win over Argentina. Surprisingly, Tim Cahill was rested for Australia's 1-0 defeat in Uruguay. The signs are that Tim will play in the return game of the play-off on Wednesday in Australia. Everton skipper Davie Weir started for Scotland in the 1-1 draw against USA. Jimmy Mc came on as a second half sub. Scotland's goal was scored by Everton target Andy Webster. (13/11/05) |

Tim Cahill is hoping for two wins in the play-off games against Uruguay, but knows it's a hard task. Tim says: "It’s very difficult but the thing is we have got one of the strongest squads we have ever had, we have got 12 Premiership players playing here for Australia, and all over the Championship and all over Europe - Italy, Holland and places like Germany, so it’s a great squad and a great team. It’s all about doing it in these two games and we can worry about the World Cup next summer. We did play them in the play-off (four years ago) and we lost, but we are ready this time, it is something that has been a long time coming for myself but let's try and get in a World Cup and play on the world stage. I fly straight to South America and play the first leg against Uruguay then straight to Australia for the second leg, then hopefully in the World Cup. The most important thing was getting three points against Middlesbrough and then kicking on and doing the job for my country." (10/11/05) |

It looks like Davey Weir is carrying on his International career, even though the Scots did not make the World Cup Finals next year. Davey, along with Faddy have both been called up for Scotland's friendly against the USA next week. (03/11/05) |

Nuno Valente was booked in Portugal's Portugal 2 - 1 win over Liechtenstein. Moyesy and Aussie manager Guus Hiddink spent more time arguing the merits of Tim playing for Australia than he actually played. Tim Cahill played just 11 minutes for Australia in the 5-0 win over The Reggae Boyz, when he came on as a late substitute. (10/10/05) |

Simon Davies scored in the Welsh 3-2 win over Northern Ireland, with his first effort on goal this season, as he hasn't had a shot for Everton. Davie Weir played the full 90 minutes, but Jimmy Mac never got a game. Phil Neville never even got on the bench for England. (08/10/05) |

The International break will bring some relief, and a welcome rest to some of Everton's beleaguered squad. Unfortunately for Phil Neville, though he has been called up to England's squad for their do or die matches against Austria, and then Poland next week. Also away are Simon Davies, Joey Yobo, Nuno Valente, Kevin Kilbane, Jimmy Mac, Davey Weir, Graeme Sharp, Bob Latchford and George Wood with their respective countries on International duty. Tiny Tim has been blocked by Moyesy from attending an Australian training camp,in Holland, as the midfielder has done a fair bit of traveling of late. (03/10/05) |

Jimmy Mac was outstanding last night as Scotland turned over Norway 2-1 on Oslo, to throw their World Cup Qualifying group wide open. As ever Davey Weir was solid at the back, but it was Faddy who caught the eye, with a mature display culminating with a lovely cushioned header to set up Kenny Miller for the Jock's opening goal. Less fortunate last night was Zinedine Kilbane, whose Irish team fell to a piece of individual brilliance from Thierry Henry, as the French pipped them in Dublin. Simon Davies, and his Welsh team fell 1-0 to a solid Polish outfit, who became the first European Country to qualify for Germany 2006, and new boy Nuno Valente starred for Portugal in their 0-0 draw in Russia. Jesus it's like the League of Nations. Phil Neville was resigned to the bench again, as our crowd were humiliated in Belfast by team over 100 places below them. Nuff said. Moyesy should have all his squad back at Bellefield today, hopefully in one piece and raring to go for Pompey this weekend. (08/09/05) |

Joey Yobo who was involved in his countries 5-2 win over Algeria on Sunday, is delighted with the high calibre of games he is experiencing domestically and Internationally of late. Joey though may not be going to Germany next Summer if his Nigerian team do not better Angola's result in the last Group games next month. Joey says: "I think it is great that every week I am involved in important games. It is a good opportunity. Every week you say this is the biggest game but then the next week comes and it is an even bigger one. That is exciting and I am happy to be involved in that. We have to hope Angola slip up and drop points. We are playing at home against Zimbabwe so we will have our home fans and all the support we need. Meanwhile another World Cup hopeful, Zinedine Kilbane, lines up against his brother in arms tonight at Lansdowne Road, in the shape of the French and Zinedine Zidane. Killa will tonight equal Paddy Bonner's record of 34 consecutive appearances for his country, and against the former World and European Champions. Its a must win game for the Irish, and France, The Swiss and themselves all on 13pts. Killa says: "I have not really been looking at it or keeping my fingers crossed. I have been asked about it over in Ireland a few times but I have just got on with it and never looked too far ahead. It is good, it is really good just to get close to it. It started at West Brom and has gone through the whole of my Sunderland career and now my Everton career so it has been a long time." Tim Cahill's Australia face knockout decider with an unnamed South American opponent, after they finished the job off against the Soloman Islands 2-1, to go through 9-1 on aggregate. (07/09/05) |

Everton players were on International duty all over the globe this weekend, but without doubt, result of the weekend goes to Davey Weir and his Scottish team mates who held the might Italians to a draw at Hampden. Davey who had the arduous task of marking Francesco Totti, is making sure that the Scots spirit is the same as it is at Goodison. Davey says: "We are building a great spirit and getting better game by game. We are going into games feeling we can get a result and we are looking more consistent now, which wasn’t always the case. It is still early days whereas at Everton we have had it building for two years or so. It gets better and better at club and hopefully that can be the case with Scotland. Phil Neville only made the bench as England beat Wales at the Millennium, and in the same game Simon Davies found himself substituted as Wales tried to claw their way back into the match. Tiny Tim
was on the score sheet as the Aussie's thrashed the Solomon Islands 7-0
in Sydney. (04/09/05) |

Now he is playing regular football for Everton instead of a game now and then for manure, Phil is chuckling away to himself, as he is now in the England squad on merit. Phil says: "We've all got our own personal agenda sometimes and my agenda when I come away with England is first and foremost to get into the team but, in a year like this, it is to make sure we qualify and I get into the World Cup squad. There are four games left. After that, we can all think about the places for the World Cup. This is probably the first time in a long time that I've met up and felt that I've earned it in a way. "Maybe that is not the right phrase because you earn every England cap but in a way that I come here full of confidence knowing that I've played the last five games and am as fit as everyone else. In the past I've probably always been playing catch-up when I've met up. It is different now and it is not a nice feeling. It gets rid of that theory that I was only picked because I was a Manchester United player. "Games
breed confidence and there is nothing better than playing and then meeting
up with England knowing you've played okay for your club side. I do prefer
midfield but right-back is the position I played at Manchester United
for most of my career so, in terms of experience in one position, right-back
is the one so I don't see that being a problem." (03/09/05) |

Everton's Welsh International Simon Davies would like nothing better than to break English hearts on Saturday with a shock win at the Millennium Stadium. Davies who will line up for the Welsh, is sure to be on of two Everton players on the pitch, with Phil Neville in opposition. Simon says: "Scoring against England would be right up there with that night against Italy. That was a great night for both myself and the team and probably the best game I have been involved in for Wales by some way. It will take a performance like that to take something from the game on Saturday but I am sure the side we will be sending out there will be more than capable of it. It is a big game for England because they are looking to qualify and for us we want to get some pride back. We want to give something back to the Welsh public who we feel we let down in the last game. It is a very difficult game but we can't go into it thinking too much about them. We have to go into the game and try to impose ourselves on them as much as we can, put them under pressure and hopefully get the crowd into the game so they can really drive us on." (31/08/05) |

Everton's Phil Neville has been called into Sexy Sven's England Squad for the forthcoming crucial back to back Internationals against Wales and Northern Ireland. Phil may start as an injury to his brother Gary will leave the full back position empty. Unfortunately Nige's recent run of good form has not convinced Sven to call the 39 yr old back to the fold. Only Killa and Joey found some action in International week, Killa going down 2-1 at home to the Italians, and Joey tasting victory in Tripoli as Nigeria turned over Libya in a friendly. Phil Neville was on the bench for England as they were trounced 4-1 away at Denmark, thanks to some fantastic goal keeping from ex shit 'ed David James. Just a footnote to that game, a master class was to be seen in the Danish midfield, by no other than ex Blue Tommy Grav. (18/08/05) |
