Southall
Wright, Labone, Ratcliffe, Wilson

I remember Vernon in the charity shield against Man United, taking a penalty. On his run up he stopped put his foot on the ball and tied his bootlace, goalkeeper Gaitskille {i think} dived across the goal, poor bastard...Cantwell the United skipper had Vernon by the collar. It was no use Vernon and the rest of the sixty thousand couldn't stop laughing either. Goalkeeper never moved when Vernon did take the kick.

I've been watching Everton for 32 years. I loved watching Dave Thomas, Duncan Mckenzie, Mike Pejic, Andy King, Andy Gray, Gary Lineker, Norman Whiteside and Kanchelskis but my all time favourite team playing in a 442 formation would have to be as follows: formation,

Southall
Stevens
Ratcliffe

Steven
Reid
Bracewell
Sheedy
Sharp
Latchford

Danny Gordon. (08/09/05)

132.

Very hard to pick a great team and very easy to leave some players out, but here's the best team I have seen on the hallowed turf

nev southall

gary stevens, dave watson, kev ratcliffe, psycho pat

alan ball - the greatest i ever saw, god bless you bally
howie
colin harvey - the white pele, remember the banner
andy king - how he would shine with these 3

sharpy, andy gray

subs: mountfield, martin dobson - class, peter reid, bob latch, ronnie goodlass - loved the guy in my youth - west ham 78 - brilliant

Sorry for players who I've loved in good times and bad - Gary jones, mick buckley, mick lyons, richard gough, tricky trev, john bailey, and the very under rated magnificent paul bracewell. Not forgetting one young man who would be on everyone's team and would have been second only to dixie if he had been a real Evertonian. Neil Chisnall. (08/09/05)

127.

Here is my best 11

1) Southall - Best keeper ever and the world knows it
2) Hibbert - Mr Dependable, solid full back
3) Hinchcliffe - Best left foot since Sheedy
4) Ratcliffe - Best reader of the game ever
5) Watson - Give us a wave dave!
6) Gravesen - Mr motivator! We still love you tommy
7) Kanchelskis - One of the best wingers I've seen
8) Beardsley - He saw sense and crossed the park
9) Cottee - scored all those goals in the nasty 90's
10) Horne - Who needs cantona... we love you Bazza!
11) Sheedy - Best left foot ever, class, power, i love you kevin...

Supported the toffees for 20 years, 26 now, wasted 6 years of my life being a silly child more interested in sweets and cartoons but making up for all that now! That was almost bloody impossible, i have so many heroes but the lads above would have combined really well i think, I've got a pacey right winger, I've got a skilful striker in beardo, with barry and tommy the centre of park is solid, we will always score from set pieces with sheedy in the side and wont concede anything with rat, watson, hinchy and hib not to forget nev. cottee would get loads of goals in that side. Id give Howard Kendal the managers job, and moyes be his assistant. Imran Malik. (15/08/05)

Dixie Dean ( Worth 80 Mill 2day )

Subs: Martyn,Yobo,Snods,Beardsley,Lineker

Coaches. Harvey and Moyes

I think this side would beat any of the foreign import teams we have in our league today, Some of the team I understand were dodgy but tried to explain the decisions next to them and with that midfield we would get goals against any team. The bench means we could change people and keep the same formation or go 4-4-2 in needed. Just a thought if we had the team today how long before the board sold them for dosh with empty promises? John Cavell. (15/08/05)

121. Had their best years elsewhere and/or did not actually play much for Everton and some may not actually be regarded as Evertonians.

Jennings

K Newton Keown Todd Ablett

Rooney Gasgoine Ginola Whiteside

Subs McMahon, Hartford, Rioch, Kanchelskis, Beardsley
