177. When the best XI reached 100 entries I started doing what David Gordon. of Aughton suggested - adding up the votes for each player to get the overall winners. I only got about half way through but it was looking like nothing was going to outstrip this team.

175. Being 16, I won't have seen all of our great players, but have seen dvd's and heard all about them from my dad none stop when he's drunk. So in my opinion this is the best Everton lineup. But we don't need them 2 get into europe. well some of 'em.

southall

d. watson labone ratcliffe

kanchelskis young reid sheedy

rooney

dean linekar

Would have been a special ream with Young going forward and Reid sitting back with Sheedy and Kanchelskis down the lines. Rooney causing havoc and Dean making wizardry scoring every game, adding up brilliantly with Linekar's poaching. Labone, Ratcliffe and Watson's brilliant defensive skills cover for one of the best keepers ever!! What a team, so hard to pick

Born in the same year as our famous 3-2 win over the Wednesday, been a blue since day one. I picked a team that I believe would daze and amaze any opposition. don't think there'd be many teams that could compete with this team.
Paul Clarke. (11/11/05)

163. I am only 16, so this is the best everton team in the last 16 years, in my opinion.

Great site lads, keep it up .... WE'RE ALL GOING ON A EUROPEAN TOUR, A EUROPEAN TOUR, A EUROPEAN TOUR!!!!!

from Ian Riddaway @ work in Runcorn. (11/11/05).

161. The best Everton team i've seen play since 1996 would be-

Southall

Hibbert Stubbs Yobo Hinchcliffe

Osman Gravesen Stuart Kanchelskis

Ferguson Amokachi

SUBS: Martyn, Watson, Cahill, Limpar, Jeffers

Evertonian for almost 16 years (all my life). Great website with a bit of everything. Jack McGonigle. (11/11/05)

160. I've been an Evertonian since cup semi-final day 1968. Here's my all-time greatest 11:

Southall

Wright, Labone, Hurst, Wilson

Kendall, Ball, Harvey

Lineker, Royle, Morrissey.

Although the late sixties team mysteriously collapsed from the 70/71 season onwards with so much expected of them, I still feel that the team we had from 67 through to us winning the Championship in 69/70 was, player for player, the greatest. I recently got the dvd of the 68 cup final from the WBA club shop. How we didn't win I'll never know ! xongs . (03/11/05)

159. I am 15 years old and have been going the match since I was 5. Never before have I been so proud to be a blue. Here is my Everton First 11 from the years which I have supported the pride of Merseyside.

Goalkeeper-Big Nev-I only really seen him in his podgy years but he was good.
Left back-Hinchcliffe- Great player
Right back-Hibbo- Little legend, needs to sort out his attacking play but still great
Centre back and captain -Dave Watson- Really good
Centre back- Richard Gough- He served us well
Left mid-Kanchelski- Sheer class, one of the first names I ever got on my back
Right mid- Anders Limpar- He was one good player
Centre mid- The Grav- Hope to see him back in the summer. Best player we've had recently.
Centre mid- Cahill - Based purely on this season
Forward- Big Dunc- Mostly for ' 95 but his aerial presence this season has been needed. Secured us vital points.
Forward- Rideout- Legend

Subs:
Nigel Martyn- Safe hands
Alan Stubbs- The rock in our current defence
Rooney- Scum, but there is no denying it , he was good.
Gareth Farraley- If it wasn't for him we might very well be in the Championship.
Speed- Gary, gary, gary , gary 'SHITHOUSE' speed.

Andy. (03/11/05)

158. My EFC 1st XI. For various reasons-from the 'modern' era. I'm under 40-just!!! This side would be riddled with aggression, skill and above all style. A match for anyone!!! 4-4-2.

Big Nev-World's greatest ever goalie for any side in history. Seriously-has there been better-Yashin, Banks, Shilton? NAH!

Stevens-athlete, pace, aggression
Yobo-great potential, classy, I rate the guy as it goes
Ratters-0-2 Derby 1984 Say no more-hard as nails. CAPTAIN
Wilson-1966 Jules Rimet Say No More

Steven-with Stevens-unbeatable-best right sided pair ever-underrated player was Tricky
Ball-1966 Jules Rimet Say No More
Reidy-Scouser-very underrated for me, great tackler/passer/mixer
Sheedy-best left foot of the all (apart from Maradona who [unfortunately] never played for Everton; he would be the one player I wished we had signed; but Sheedy had the greatest free kick chants ever for any club!! Sheedy, Sheedy, Sheedy!!!)

Big Duncan-the lad is Bluer than blue-heading ability unsurpassed in the modern era. He would die for the cause-what a Centre Forward!

Rooney-this kid can (and will ) do a Maradona and win the big one for England in 2006. That will be our third Jules Rimet winner in the side. Nice Karma me thinks

Manager (Controversial!) Has to be David Moyes. He has done superbly and I like the guy's style. 'The Peoples' Club': A Masterstroke!!! Another who wouldn't hide in a ruck either. Against Alex Ferguson ( A guy I really respect BTW) the other night he was sound. Talk about leading from the front man!

Never saw Dixie Dean TE Jones etc-me grandad said Dixie was something else on earth, pace, aggression, skill what price today? £50M? ditto TEJ. My old man also said Tony Kay was out of this world. Really good. Out of order what happened to TK, but very pleasing to hear he still has a soft spot for the Peoples Club. Also, this side could seriously compete in ANY Football Ruckers XI. Some very tough boys out there; never mind the Manager! The site is a blinder BTW lads! Keep up the good work-exiled Scouser in London-see you in the Blue Kipper lounge next season! We are coming up! Get the beers in. Kind Regards, Kevin Perkes. (03/11/05)

157. I 'Kevin' have been watching the blues for 20 years and here is my best team!!! "How hard is it to choose?"

1) Neville Southall (no questions 'binman stroke Genius')

2) Gary Stevens ( more energy than a duracell bunny!!)

3) Psycho Pat (fierce left back 'who wants to dare take him on?!!!)

4) Ratcliffe (unbeatable on the floor before his injury)

5) Mountfield (great defender come goalscorer)

6) Cahill (future efc captain and what a bargain!!!)

7) Kanchelskis (unbelievable attacking qualities)

8) Parkinson (The Rock!! so sad bout his injury)

9) Sharpy (all time hero 'everton Legend')

10) Dixie Dean (i know, but I've seen him on videos!!!!)

11) Sheedy sheedy sheedy sheedy!!!

Subs: Martyn (superb), Bracewell, D Watson, Beardsley

Manager: Howard Moyes!!! or Mike Walker!!

Kevin. (03/11/05)

156. my best EVERTON team ever:

GK NEVILLE SOUTHALL
RB Stevens
CB Watson (c)
CB Ratcliffe
LB David Weir
RM Kanchelskis
CM Gravesen
CM Ball
LM Sheedy
ST Sir Dixie Dean
ST Rooney

Subs DF - Stubbs, GK Martyn, DF Labone, CF Latchford, ACM Osman, CM Cahill, ST Ferguson

Manager Howard Kendall Assistant Manager David Moyes.

EVERTON for ever. Martin from Merthyr Tydfil. (03/11/05)

155. A team to drool over, and no place for either of Newton's, Peter Reid, Paul Bracewell, Alan Ball, Derek Temple, Bobby Collins, Fred Pickering, Joe Royle, Bob Latchford, Graham Sharp, either of the Duncan's, Dave Hickson or a host of others, the list goes on. We really have been spoilt in the past, particularly at No.9, hopefully we will be again in the future.

1. Neville [Everybody's choice]

2. Alex Parker [Timed the tackles to perfection]

3. Ray Wilson [The master craftsman]

4. Kevin Ratcliffe [Sorry Brian, there's only room for one skipper]

5. Dave Watson [A tower of strength who held us together all by himself at times]

6. Tony Kay [Only saw TK a few times, a hero on the pitch; the complete midfield package, all in one player]

7. Alex Scott [His commitment to Everton eases him past Trevor Steven who couldn't wait to get away - and played like it towards the end]

8. Andy Gray [A man for all seasons]

9. Alex Young [Words aren't enough to describe how good he was]

10. Colin Harvey [Could still provide the England Left Hand Side solution, bad hip and all - and should have done so then]

11. Kevin Sheedy [Simply the Best Left Foot in the world]

Subs: 12. Gordon West [The boys' pen absolutely loved him to bits]

13. Brian Labone [A real gent, always fair, always a sportsman]

14. Jimmy Gabriel [He walked with the Baxter's and Mackays - where have the Scottish Wing Halves gone?]

15. Roy Vernon [Nervy and exciting thoroughbred; deadly with penalties]

16. Howard Kendall [The best ever player never to have won a cap]

If I'd seen them perhaps TG Jones, Joe Mercer, Tommy Lawton and Dixie might have just about scraped into the starting 11!

PS My worst 11 would certainly include John Collins, Gary Lineker, John Gidman, Slaven Bilic and Vinny Samways. I can forgive lack of ability - and we have had our share - but I can't accept a lack of commitment to Everton. I have to add to this the names of Barmby and Xavier for the obvious reasons and Wayne because he broke our hearts. Jim Williams. (15/10/05)
