Spirits were high despite the early start as a 20 strong party organised by Bluenose Promotions left Manchester last Thursday morning destined for Dublin to organise the inaugarel Irish Hall of Fame event. We were met at the airport and ferried to the luxurious Morans Red Cow Hotel for this eagerley anticipated event. At 8pm Bluenose Co-diectors Brian Snagg, Roger Kenyon and Tommy Birch were joined on the top table by Ian {mc}, Micky Finn {comedian} and EFC legends Brian Labone, Gordon West, John Bailley, Dave Watson and Kevin Sheedy, as well as main speaker Howard Kendall. The following four hours or so were pure magic and lapped up by an appreciative audience of nearly 300, as the jokes and football stories flowed after a superb meal. The Irish gave
everyone a great welcome and seemed grateful as a feeling prevails that over the last few years they have been largely ignored by Everton. How about some games in Ireland for these dedicated and loyal followers Bill? The audience behaviour was exemplary and an object lesson to some who attend the Adelphi dos. Thanks were expressed to everybody including the Bluenose girls the 2
Johns and security staff who all deserve special mention. As the crowd dispersed either home or to the late bar talk was already about the next event to be held in April 2004 at the same venue. I have a feeling all tickets will be snapped up promptly to see if Bluenose can better a fantastic night.Lets hope so. Barry Hewitt
