Brian Harris Signs Copies of His New Book

One of the Everton Greats of the 50's & 60's, Brian Harris will be signing copies of his new book 'Brian Harris : The Authorised Biography' at WH Smith's Church Street store in Merseyside tomorrow from 11.30a.m. Unlike other run of the mill Football books, Brian goes behind the scenes & tells the reader about what went on with the players on away trips, the pranks, the laughs warts & all. Of all the football books published recently, this is the one that is a bit different & worth every penny of the £14.99.

Brian spoke to bluekipper.com in Starbucks in Caste St. Caffe Latte all round. He didn't want to have any ale before appearing in front of 200 fans at a Blue Nose Dinner tonight at Goodison to help launch the book.

Brian told bluekipper.com "I've been asked to do a book a few times before, but the fans already know how many games you've played, so when I met Chris Westcott, we decided to stick to the stories, and what happened off the pitch." Brian was the player, who put the policeman's hat on at the 1966 FA Cup final when Eddie Cavanagh ran onto the pitch. He told us about rooming with Jimmy Gabrial on away trips. "I brought a bottle of wine on the away trips just to have a glass on the Friday night before a game. Well Jimmy didn't want to know, but I persuaded him to have glass. We did the same the night before the FA Cup Final, but Jimmy said: ' This is the most important game of our lives. You can't have wine, but we did & it calmed our nerves. Tommy Wright had a terrible time sleeping, but Jimmy & me slept well. When we were 2-0 down. Jimmy turned to me and said: 'You and your fucking wine'. I said to him come on lets get on with the game, and s the say the rest is history." (21/11/03)
