Sharpy
says: “I have been delighted at the way the book has been
received and it is appropriate that the first signing session will
be here at Goodison. A lot of people have approached me to tell me
just how much they enjoyed reading it, including Bill Kenwright.”

game on Saturday 11th November 2006 . (09/11/06)
Review
Sharpy
whose book went on sale today is a must read for any Evertonian, especially
one like me who remembers the 1980's so fondly. Sharpy has not held
back, and like you hear him on the radio, he honestly tells it how
he see's it. The book is a fantastic read, and a great collaboration
with Everton's Media Manager Darren Griffiths. I enjoyed reading it,
and I am sure Sharpy enjoyed compiling it, recalling the mostly great
times, and some shitty times as well.
After
the fantastic mid 80's side broke up, Graeme knew that the calibre
of players coming to Goodison as good as they were, were never going
to get us back to the heights of a few years earlier. He lifts the
lid on the infamous Kevin Sheedy, Martin Keown, and your brother is
a crap plumber incident in a Southport Chinese. Tells how he never
gelled with Tony Cottee, who he classes as a selfish player. His uneasy
relationship with Everton Boss Howard Kendall, and how fellow Scot
and shite manager Dalglish wound him up over a pretend cartilage operation
booked in his name, when he heard that Peter Beagrie has signed for
the Blues.
Sharpy
lifts the lid on turning down overtures from manure, as he believed
that the Blues had a better chance of winning trophies, and shite
how he was proved right.
Sharpy
- My Story is £16.99 and is available in all good book shops
and some shit one's aswell. It is a must for all Blues in their Christmas
Stocking this year, so after writing all this Graeme can I have mine
signed now !! (02/11/06)
The
autobiography of Everton legend Graeme Sharp hits the bookshelves
next month!
‘Sharpy
– My Story’ is the book that all Evertonians have waited patiently
for and the man himself has revealed that the publication date is
imminent.
Sharpy
says:
“The book is due out on 2nd November and I am very excited about it.
I really enjoyed compiling it and I hope the fans enjoy it too. It
was fun to recall some of the stories from my playing career and,
of course, I go into a lot of detail about the Everton glory years
of the mid-80s.”

Book - Cover
The
co-author of ‘Sharpy – My Story’ is Everton’s Media & Publications
Manager, Darren Griffiths.
Darren
says:
“I asked Graeme a few times over the years to write his story and
I was delighted when he finally agreed. The whole project was a pleasure
and a privilege for me and I am sure that it will be popular with
Evertonians of all ages.”
Graeme’s
tale starts in Glasgow, where he was born and bred, and takes him
on an incredible journey that takes in the Eastercraigs amateur team,
Dumbarton, Everton, Oldham Athletic, Bangor City and, of course, Scotland.
There is a whole chapter on his international career and the frustrations
that accompanied it and there is also a chapter on Graeme’s Merseyside
derby memories.
The
determination that made him such a fantastic footballer and the humility
and humour that make him such an endearing person are prevalent throughout
the whole story – although not everyone mentioned will enjoy reading
about themselves!
Graeme
is brutally honest when he discusses the final couple of seasons of
his Everton career and he pulls no punches when dissecting quite why
the success of the mid-80s wasn’t sustained.
Sharpy
says: “I
wasn’t happy at the way my Everton career ended and I wasn’t happy
at some of the players who failed to maintain the standards we had
set. But on the whole, I loved my playing career at Everton and it
was great to reminisce and recall some of the stories from the glory
years.”
‘Sharpy
– My Story’ quite simply tells the story of one of the greatest centre-forwards
in the history of Everton Football Club (25/10/06)
