S C Bruck 1 v 3 Everton                                                             Mon 15thJuly 2002

Kick-Off: 8.00 pm.

Attn: 504

Everton: Simonsen, Hibbert, O'Hanlon, Weir, Pistone, Tal, Osman, Daley, Pembridge, Campbell, Radzinski.

Subs:Gerrard, Clarke, Stubbs, McLeod, Pilkington, Southern, Osman, Unsworth, Rooney, Chadwick.

Everton got the pre season off to a decent start with a 3-1 win over the part timers. All 10 subs were used and the only lucky fella to play the full 90 was Sean O'Hanlon. It was Sean who opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a header from a Leon Osman corner. This was after Omar Daley had hit the post in the first minute.

The Rad deflected a Super Kev header to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

It was a mass change at half time. It took Everton 14 minutes into the 2nd half to make it three and yes it was that man Wayne Rooney who scored. I just knew it. Lets hope it is the first of many he scores for the Toffeemen. It was a long ball by Keith Southern that made it. He got past two defenders to and hit a whopper from the edge of the box. I love him already.

A chap called Huber got one back for the Austrians. All in all a decent start for the blues.

Quotes

Moysey: I thought we did OK in the first half and it could have been six or seven, but we won and we got what we wanted out of the game.

"All of the available squad got roughly 45 minutes each, which is what they wanted at this stage."

"It was nice to see Wayne get his goal. I'm sure the Evertonians here are delighted to have been here for it and, but for a great save from their keeper, he could have had another.

"It is his first goal as a professional for Everton, and hopefully it will be the first of many from him."

Everton from : Simonsen, Gerrard, Watson, Weir, Stubbs, Unsworth, Pistone, Naysmith, Hibbert, Southern, O’Hanlon, Pembridge, Tal, Rodrigo, Daley, Radzinski, Campbell, Rooney, Chadwick, Ferguson.

Everton play their 1st freindly in Austria, tonight. Moyesy is going to give all the squad 45 mins each. The starting line up depends on a few niggles to the usual suspects Dunc, Pisto, Nace, & Wato. It could mean a debut for Omar Daley, & Juliano Rodrigo.

Moyesy says: “These two games are just about everybody getting their boots on the first time in a competitive game and we will probably look to give everyone about 45 minutes.”
