 EVERTON

Goalscorers: Campbell 25, Rooney 83, 88. / Att: 13,420

Everton: Wright, Hibbert, Yobo, Wei Feng, Unsworth, Carsley, Li Tie, Gemmill, Naysmith, Radzinski, Campbell.

Subs: Simonsen, Stubbs(Li Tie 82), Ferguson(Campbell 75m), McLeod, Rooney (Radzinski 63m).

David Moyes decided to make a few changes to the starting line up. Unsey stayed at left back with Nace coming in on the left of midfield. Davie Weir was replaced by Li Wei Feng and Mad Dog was rested after his celebrations on Saturday with Scot Gemmill starting his first game of the season.

Wrexham started the game in hectic fashion. They really went for it in the first 15 minutes. Tony Hibbert was booked during these nervy opening minutes.

When we finally got out of our own half we managed to hit the woodwork with a header by Scot Gemmill from a Hibbo cross.

We started to take control of the game and after 25 minutes we went one up with a beauty from our goal scoring machine Super Kev. Li Tie was the creator when he played a lovely ball to the edge of the box where Super took control and dinked the ball over the on rushing goalie into the net.

We played the rest of the half in a controlled manner without creating too many chances and without any scares at the other end.

Half Time 0 -1

We were missing the dead ball experts Mad Dog and Pembo. We had two free kicks in the first five minutes of the 2nd half. The first on the left taken by Scot which was wellied over everybody and went for a throw-in on the other side. The next taken by Unsy which didn't get past the first man.

After 65 minutes Wayne Rooney came on for The Rad who looked to have taken a knock to his ankle.

Lee Carsley had a chance for Everton's 2nd. It was good work by Super who set up Nace to put the ball across the face of goal but Harry Hill couldn't get it on target.

The biggest cheer of the night came when Duncan Ferguson came on for Super after 73 minutes. But his first touch nearly presented Barrett with a goal. His shot was well saved by Wrighty.

Wrexham's sub Lee Trundle was causing us all sort of troubles and he nearly levelled the game when he crashed a left footer that beat Wrighty but thankfully crashed against the bar.

After 83 minutes we got what we have been waiting for- The Duke's first goal of the season. The ball was flicked on by Dunc and with the goal at his mercy hit his shot low into the corner of the net. He and us went bonkers. Wayne Rooney now becomes Everton's Youngest Goalscorer in History.

After another five minutes Wayne scored his second. Lee Carsley played it up to him. He powered past two defenders and hit another past the goalie in the far corner.

Only a tremendous save by Whitfield stopped The Duke from completing his hat-trick. He has arrived!!

Joey Yobo gets the Blue Kipper Star Man for a faultless performance.

Team News

With the news that Pembo is a doubt with an eye complaint, it could mean that Unsey may go left mid or a surprise call up for Kevin McLeod. But whoever gets picked you can guarantee 100% effort.

Moyesy said: "I'm not going to dwell on Everton's record in this competition. I'll just assure you that I take absolutely every game at this club seriously. We have a big squad here and I consider each one of them to be first-team players."(01/10/02)

With no extra injury worries, Moyesy must decide weather to stick with the 11 who played so well on saturday, or make a few changes. My guess is he may make just 2 changes. Gary Naysmith for Unsey, & Wayne Rooney for The Rad. Both players haven't played for a few weeks, & it will give the other 2 a rest.

Kipper's eleven to start: Wright, Hibbert, Weir, Yobo, Naysmith, Carsley, Li Tie, Gravesen, Pembridge, Rooney, Campbell.
