Crewe (A)

Kev McLeod

Crewe 2 Everton 0.    Kick-Off: 7.45pm.         Attn: 7,740              Tues 22nd July 2003

Everton: P. Gerrard, Pistone, Stubbs, Yobo, Unsworth, Carsley, Gemmill, Gravesen, McLeod, Ferguson, Rooney.

Bench: Osman for McLeod (56m), Chadwick for Ferguson (56m), Brown, A Gerrard, Schumacher

Gerrard made some decent saves, but could have done better for first goal. Stubbsey had a mare. Yobo wasn't that much better. Pisto, & Unsey did ok. Harry Hill did well. Gemmill was Gemmill. Tommy Grav huffed & puffed at times, but was off the pace. Kev McLeod had some nice touches, but not in it. Dunc won a few headers, laid on a great ball for Rooney who should have done better. The Duke was always involved, but still there was a bit missing. Hit the post in the second half. Ossie was lively when he came on, as was Chadders. Although we should beat these teams, it was only a friendly, but there should be no such thing as a friendly when you play for Everton.

Half-Time: Crewe 1, Everton 0.

Quotes

Moyesy on the Game says : " You play football to win at whatever level and we didn't win, so that isn,t what we are about. We played some good football in the first half and there wasn't a great deal in the game and I am disappointed that we didn't get a better result on the night."

Lard says:
"Here We Go Again"

Moyesy on Rooney says: "Tonight was his first real run-out and there were some good points but he has a bit to go yet. He is not quite in the condition we want him to be in, but he got 90 minutes. During the game he had a few good chances, was unlucky not to score a couple, so some bright moments and not so bright moments." (23/07/03)
