Roda (A)

Tommy Grav

Roda 2 Everton 0.   Kick-Off: 7.30pm.    Attn: 5,000    Tues. 5th Aug 2003.

Everton: Gerrard, Hibbert, Pistone, Stubbs, Weir, Osman, Gravesen, Linderoth, Pembridge, Radzinski, Campbell,

Bench: Chadwick (Radzinski 46m) , Simonsen, Naysmith (Osman 82m), Gemmill (Pembridge 46m), Unsworth (Hibbert 65m), Clarke (Stubbs 83m), Watson (Linderoth 46m).

Roda were 2 ahead after only 20 minutes. The second was a Gezza cock up.

Even the introduction of 6 subs couldn't get us a goal. Though the 2nd half produced more attacking footie and even created some chances we still couldn't put the ball in the sack.

Nick Chadwick went close twice, as did Davie Weir. Leon Osman brought a great save from the Roda keeper from a 25 yarder.

This was our 3rd game without a goal and with just one more friendly to go before the big day we need to put on a show against Bolognia and hopefully score a goal or two to get us all geared up for the big kick off.

Quotes

Moyesy said: "We tried playing slightly different in the first half. We can't be one dimensional. We have to try and look for different things, but it didn't work out.
There was something to be pleased about in the second half. At least I saw a bit more like we should be in terms of attitude and desire.
There's a lot of hard work and honesty about us, and in the first half, I thought we were lacking. Our play was lacking, our style of play was lacking, but whatever you say and whatever players you pick they have to perform whatever way you set them out and they didn't do that.

Team News

Our Forum friend Bushman has told us that Joey will not be travelling to Holland to face Roda, he has picked up a minor injury, nothing serious . With this in mind Moyesy will revert to his trusty 2 of Davie and Stubbsey at the back. And with Alexanderssen (will he play for us again?) and Li Tie both playing at Southport tonight, it looks like Tommy Grav and Toby to occupy the middle of the park with Watto on the right.
