Well fuck me, who expected that. A five two win over the Champions of Mexico. Goals from across the board, through Jimmy Mac, The Grav, Zinedine, Super and Young Chaddy. We are waiting for our match report to arrive from across the Atlantic, but no doubt Jamie has gone on the piss to celebrate the victory. Ladbrokes and other leading bookmakers slashed Everton's odds on winning the Premiership from 500/1, down to 7/2. Man Ure, Chelski, and The Gooners are all said to be shitting themselves. C' mon You Blues.

Quotes

Moyesy says: "I thought it was a terrific game and we played well. They were a good team and their short passing gave us a lot to deal with. But our lads stuck at it and it was a good result for us.
We had some good performances through the middle. James McFadden, Thomas Gravesen and Joseph Yobo all played well and it was just what we needed.
The goals were shared through the team and that will give them confidence.

The only two players we didn’t use that we could have done were David Weir and Richard Wright because we didn’t have anybody else.
Tony Hibbert came off with badly blistered feet and Peter Clarke came on at right back and did well. Gary Naysmith had a tight hamstring which forced us to put Kevin Kilbane at left-back and we brought on Marcus for Kevin with about twenty minutes to go so most of them had a tough game.

Thankfully there were no serious bumps or bruises to report and the squad will start to prepare for Sunday’s game after a rest on Friday. Some of them are a bit sore and a bit tired and they’ll sleep well tonight! " (30/07/04)

Team News

Everton take on Mexican Champions Pacachu, in the early hours of Friday morning, in Houston Texas. Moyesy is not daunted by the prospect of playing the best Mexican football has to offer, but he is a bit unsure of what to expect. After some hard work by the Everton squad, Moyesy though is looking forward to sending his charges out to battle tonight. 'Sandro Pistone will have to sit this one out, with his Achilles trouble, and slight doubts remain over Stevey Watto, and Tony Hibbert, but both are reported to be on track for tonights match.

Moyesy says: "I am not too sure exactly what to expect. My understanding of Mexican football is that it is played short and sharp. The players are quick and they have good technique but we will have to wait and see.

The job now is to prepare for the start of the Premiership. The next two games are important but not as much as winning the first half-a-dozen league games.
It is good for us to come here and learn and watch other players, but I am not too sure what kind of bearing it will have on our Premier League campaign." (29/07/04)

Squad: Wright, Watson, Stubbs, Weir, Ferguson, Kilbane, Naysmith, Campbell, Yobo, McFadden, Martyn, Carsley, Clarke, Chadwick, Osman, Bent, Hibbert.
