What
a day! It started early as Lavo & Kipper tarted up the new
Blue kipper lounge ready for our 'End of Season Bash' after the
game. We just needed the 3 points and it would be a bender. Me, I
was at the ground early getting Sharpy to personalise a framed picture
of him scoring against the shite for Paul who was proposing to Steph
before the game - go'ed lad! FULL TIME EVERTON 1 Newcastle 0 |

Moyesy is playing his cards close to his chest, about team selection for today's vital clash with the Skunks at Goodison. Major, major doubt is Blue Kipper's Star Man of The Season Tim Cahill, who is suffering with a back injury. On a positive note, Stubbsey has a better than half decent chance of making the starting line up, and if fit expect Joey Yobo to drop to the bench, as defensive cover. Tony Hibbert should also return after his bout of the shits left him low before last weeks abysmal performance at Fulham. Nace is also back in the squad. If Tiny does not make it, Ossie should start, with Benty and the Big Man leading the line. Moyesy has to go for it today, and I'm sure he will. Come on You Blue Boys. The crowd have their part to play aswell, so as one lets get behind the team, and roar them on to Champions League footy for next season. Oh I love being a fuckin' Blue. Moyesy says: "It’s a great time. We can almost touch it, but until we grab it and it can't be taken away then I’m staying muted. I’d like to say more about it, but at the moment I’m keeping my emotion under wraps because we’ve not done anything yet, apart from qualify for the UEFA Cup, which we are delighted with. I think the worst we can finish in the Premiership now is sixth, so we’ve had an outstanding season, but I think we all know that we’d like to get fourth spot and the Champions League now. I want to get three points and edge a bit closer to Champions League football. It will be a tough game. Newcastle are a big football club with terrific support and a good set of players, so it will be a hard game. They’re coming into the game following a good result at Fulham, but I feel that no matter when you play Newcastle whether it’s after a good result or a bad result, it’s a difficult game. But we know that if we play to our capabilities it will be a good game. We only have one home game left, so we want to end the season at Goodison on a high. We feel positive, but we have to show that on the field. The supporters have played a really big part, especially in the game against Manchester United when I thought they were exceptional. Unfortunately that evening has gone now, we’ve moved on, but if they can reproduce the way they got behind the team and also the way we played hopefully that combination will help us get the points." Tim Cahill exclusively told bluekipper.com on Wednesday night over a lemo: “ My back is still sore. I just need rest. I am desperate to play. ” “As the old cliché says, the table doesn’t lie. We’ve been in fourth or above since mid-September and it will be a great achievement for us as a club if we can finish there. We’re all ready for one big push. It’s going to be difficult, but if the fans can get behind us right from the kick-off, like they always do at Goodison, I am sure it’ll help us enormously. Newcastle obviously had a good result in midweek against Fulham and it will give them a little bit of confidence, because they have had a bad month. But they’re safe and have nothing to lose but we know that if we start the game well, force them on to the back foot then we can get the result we desperately want.” Geordie Steve Watson says: “I don’t think I’ve ever wanted Newcastle to get beat so much. To be honest, they’ve had two or three important games over the past few weeks in the UEFA and FA Cup Semi Finals and I’ve been wanting them to win, but I’ll be dead against them on Saturday. Everybody on my side of the family to my in-laws are Newcastle fans, as are all my mates. They haven’t got any sympathies for me, apart from my wife, my Dad and the children - who are the only ones who follow me that closely. I know we haven’t had a good record in our final home games over the past few years, but we’ve broken a lot of records this season and we’re desperate to bring that particular bad run to an end. We want to do a lap of honour at Goodison on Saturday after a win - not a draw or a defeat. It would be great to go round after a victory. We know that a win on Saturday could all but seal Champions League football for us. We need the three points and we believe it to be the most important game of the season. We need to it. I think a win would set us up nicely for fourth spot and it would be great to finish our campaign at home on a high." Pisto praises the fans & says: “I have always said that the Everton fans have a tremendous power to affect our results. They have always been right behind us, but this season they have been extra special. They have been unbelievable - and I think one of the main reasons why we have done as well as we have this year is because of their support. We were really disappointed by our performance at Fulham, but now we have to move on to the next game. We know what we have to do and we know what we want to achieve. We can’t wait for the game. It’s so important. I think the final home game of the season is a really important game anyway, but this one has extra significance, because of fourth spot. There is going to be a full house, with 36,000 Evertonians right behind us, so I don’t think we can fail. I can’t wait to play in the match. It’s great to have a ‘six pointer’ at the top of the table, rather than the bottom." Faddy says: "It would be perfect if we could get a win on Saturday as 40,000 fans would go mad. Getting into the Champions League would be a massive thing for us. The last few years have seen a lot of bad times and it would show people that Everton are still a big club. It has been a special season, beyond everyone's wildest dreams and expectations. Going into Europe is massive achievement especially after last season. People will remember the game if it is the last one before Champions League spot is clinched so it would be nice to be involved. I am as in as good shape as I can be for training, all I need is matches to get my fitness up. I just want to get in the team. Obviously I have got a lot to learn. There are players who are 30 and they are still learning. I have had good experiences this season. If I had not got injured a couple of months back I might be still in the team." Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer is back in the squad after being rested. He will fight for a place with Patrick Kluivert and Shola Ameobi. Lee Bowyer is available after a ban and Celestine Babayaro and Jermaine Jenas are back. Newcastle come to Goodison after their first win in seven after turning over Fulham 3-1, at Craven Cottage on the week. Robert says: "Teams like Everton who still play with a lot of tough British players are always difficult to handle. If they succeed in opening the scoring against us at home you can be sure they will resort to long balls whenever they feel under threat, it is quite painful." |
