"Cor bli me, Harry. These scarsers ar 'ard fackers". Came the reply from the slightly balding, fat 40 year old Millwall skin ed after he was told were to go to from one of the Toffeemen. The Millwall fan didn't like the idea that there were 40 odd Evertonians in his ale 'ouse. Just as I expected, having lived in the smoke for 4 years. I hate the place. The game would be just the same, I thought. Although after a good go, Millwall would be beaten, by our superior fitness, skill and will to win. What I didn't expect was to have to do it with Benty and Faddy up front in place of Biffa and Big Dunc. When someone announced the team, you could sense that the Evertonians were in for a torrid day. You just new! The glance exchanged with fellow blues, the shake of the head. It only lasted a few minutes and then it was: "an if yer know yer istory..." I looked around for the skin 'ed, but he had left nearly a full pint and gone. Meet the New Den. Same as the old Den. Not a very welcoming place, but who gives a fuck. We were here to knock them out of the cup. On the team selection. I was astounded. We are not Chelsea. We don't have a good enough squad to arse around with this rotation and resting malarkey. We have a decent 11. If any one of those are missing, we struggle. As it was in the first half. We played some good football, but never had the end product. Cahill was enjoying his return to his old club and was Everton' best chance of a goal. He nearly scored early on with an overhead kick, but it went over the bar. Faddy had a glorious chance to score when he found himself with just the keeper to beat, his arse went. He must of been thinking of something else and tamely shot at the keeper. Bent had a header saved, and that was the end of his contribution. His attitude stinks. It's as grey as the shirt on his back. At the other end, besides a Tony Hibbert clearance off the line, Millwall never threatened. Then they scored. Pace forward, Williams held off Ferrari and shot over Wright and into the net. Martyn may have saved it, but I'm being picky here. I don't think Richard Wright should play in goal for Everton. I don't rate him. Cahill
nearly scored twice in a minute, but didn't. Firstly a header was
saved and then a shot was cleared off the line. Millwall had one chance in the second half. May hit a free kick, which Wright saved well. Then it was all Everton. Why? Because Moyesy brought on 2 forwards with ability, determination, and a will to win, something we had been lacking in the first half. Within
minutes of coming on Biffa held the ball up and layed the ball to
Neville, but his shot went over. It was all Everton now. Killa should
have done better, but his effort was saved by the goalies feet. A
Mikel Arteta free-kick just cleared the bar. He's a great player.
When you look back and think, we nearly never signed him over money.
How we never won is a mystery. We twatted them. It was like wave upon wave of Everton chances. Ossie chipped a shot towards the top corner, but the goalie saved again. With minutes to go Killa should have buried a shot from 5 yards out. Some how he hit it wide. Cue shouts of "Hard lines Kev!" My man of the match was Tim Cahill, who showed Millwall what a great player they have missed. Half-Time: Millwall 1 EVERTON 0

| With big Dunc will not be playing I think Moyesy will revert to a 4 - 5 -1 with Phil Neville playing in front of the back four. But hey what do I know. Moyesy says: I'm desperate to try and have a good run in the FA Cup. I would like to get into the final stages if I could. It's easy me saying it, but talk is cheap. We've got to go and do it on the field." Everton from: Wright, Martyn, Turner, Kroldrup, Yobo, Weir, Arteta, Bent, Beattie, Davies, McFadden, Li Tie, Kilbane, Cahill, Neville, Valente, Ferrari, Osman, Hibbert, Hughes, Wynne, Wilson. Kipper's Everton XI To Start: Martyn, Hibbert, Yobo, Ferrari, Valente, Osman, Arteta, Neville, Cahill, Kilbane, Beattie. Lavo's Bet: £10 on Mikky Arteta to score first goal (12/1) |

Tiny Tim's old team. 2nd from bottom in the Championship. Let's give it to them Tiny
says: "I owe Millwall big time. If it hadn't been for
them I would not be where I am now. Millwall is a fantastic club and
it had a big part in my development as a footballer. I can't pay any
more respect to the club than that. As a youngster you have to learn
your game and play games and they gave me the opportunity to play 250
games and that's where I also showed I could score goals. That's why
I am here at Everton. I feel it's unfortunate Millwall cannot get into
the Premiership but I would like to think I did well for the club and
they did well for me." |
