James Vaughan - Hat-trick

FK Gamlitz 0, Everton 9   Sunday 10th July 2005. Att: 283 (About 60 Evertonians)

Everton: Martyn, Hibbert, Weir, Kroldrup, Kilbane, McFadden, Osman, Li Tie, Davies, Bent, Beattie.

Bench: Turner, Ruddy, Vaughan, Anichebe, Hopkins, Wynne, Wilson, Hughes, Wright, Harris, Seargeant.

Goalscorers: Beattie, Bent, Wilson, Kroldrup, Vaughan(3), Anichebe, Hopkins.

With Yobo and Cahill still on their Jollies, Everton gave debuts to Davies and Kroldrup. Kilbane played left back as Nace is still injured and Pisto has done one. This position needs sorting out as a matter of urgency. Li Tie started his first game on yonks. Carsley, Ferguson and new first team squad player, Paddy Boyle were left out.

James Beattie and Marcus Bent put Everton 2-0 up at half time. Moyesy then brought on the youngsters. Wilson made it 3. Then PK scored the fourth. Is he a budding Deggsey Mount? Lets hope so. Vaughan scored a second half hat-trick with Anichebe and Hopkins finished the scoring. A run out. Nothing more.

Moyes says: "All the boys went about their job fine. It took us until the second half to get the goals we wanted though if we had taken our chances we would have scored more. But it was what we wanted. It gave the players an hour running around.

We wanted all the boys to get a touch and we are grateful to the side we played today for giving us that opportunity. It was warm today, so they got a good sweat on. We were also able to get the younger players on and it was nice to see them get some of the goals."
