Motherwell 0, Everton 0 Sat 16th July 2005. Att: @ Fir Park
Everton: Martyn, Hibbert, Kroldrup, Yobo, Kilbane, Osman, Cahill, Li Tie, Mc Fadden, Bent, Vaughan. Bench: Wright, (Martyn 46), Weir (Hibbert 46), Arteta (Li Tie 46), Ferguon (Vaughan 56), Seargant (Cahill 76), Wynne (Kroldrup 80), Hughes. Goalscorers: Jimmy Mac returned home yesterday, and threw in a Man of the Match performance for good measure. The young Scot was instrumental in most of Everton's play, and was denied on a couple of occasions, by some sharp keeping by Gordon Marshall in the 'Wells sticks. Everton new boy, Per Kroldrup, impressed at the back, as did new old boy Mikky Arteta, whose face in a Blue shirt once again, is a welcome sight to Evertonians. The game had an edge to it, as early doors Leach in the Motherwell midfield left his mark on Tiny. That got the tempo going, and all the game lacked was goals. Faddy who was made Skipper for his return, was involved in most moves, and if he continue's to perform like this, Moyesy may well save himself a few bob in the transfer market. We are yet to see the best of him, but there is no doubt on yesterdays performance that the kid has got it. Queue Thailand. (17/07/05) Team News Mikel Arteta is in the squad, together with Dickie, Dunc, Joey and Tim, who will all play some part in the game having missed out of the Austrian game. Everton are without Nace and Harry Hill with injury, but new proffesssiopnals, Wynne and Seargent make the squad. Jimmy Mac will be playing against his old club. Faddy says: “This will be my first time back as a player but I have been back a few times to see the boys play. I think everytime I’ve been back to watch, they’ve lost. But I’m looking forward to meeting up again with the lads and catching up with them when we are up there. I’m really looking forward to it because it’s been a while since I’ve played at Fir Park. It will be great to go back and see some familiar faces and play in front of the Motherwell fans again. The Motherwell fans were always good to me and I hope that I was good to them, too. I’m looking forward to getting the buzz of playing at Fir Park again. They are good supporters up there. They are very passionate, as they all are in Scotland." Motherwell Midfielder, Shuan Fagan on Faddy says: "The supporters love him, and not just because his transfer fee kept the club going. It was the way he played and the fact he always gave 100 per cent. Some players, when they know they are about to leave, mess their club about but he never gave less than his all and fans appreciate that, even though he was going. I've no doubt he will get a tremendous reception when he walks out on the pitch and it'll be a wee bit emotional for him. Knowing Faddy, though, he will take it in his stride. Southampton gave us a hard time on Tuesday and, with no disrespect to them, Everton are on a different level." Everton from: Wright, Martyn, Hibert, Yobo, Weir, Davies, Cahill, Beattie, Ferguson, Kilbane, Arteta, McFadden, Turner, Bent, Li Tie, Osman, Kroldrup, Vaughan, Hughes, Wynne, Seargeant. |
