It was definetely a case of after the Lords Mayors Parade, last night at Goodison. The Blues fresh from a great result at old Trafford on Sunday, struggled against Prem new boys West Ham. The East Londoners were good value for their win, as apart from the opening fifteen minutes, to put it mildly Everton were shite.

Moyesy surprisingly left Mikky Arteta on the bench, and stuck with the eleven that served him well on Sunday, they did anything but last night. Biffa gave the Blues a dream start when he fired home Latchfordesqe in the eighth minute, after good build up play by Jimmy Mac. It took the visitors ten minutes or so to pull level, when an innocuous looking cross was turned into his own net by Davey Weir, who in the scheme of things wants to forget all about last night as quickly as possible.

Jimmy Mac left the field before the equalising goal, after he was clattered in a challenge. Maybe it was his own fault as he should have released the ball to open up the Hammers defence, but instead he ran right into the brick wall ahead of him, and duly hurt himself. On came Benty, enough said on that one.

West Ham took total control of the game, and you sensed they were going to join the Prem's other heavyweights like Portsmouth, Wigan and alike in taking points off the Blues at home this season. They surely did, when in the second half, their dominance paid off when Marlon Harewood, gave them all the points after a good save from Dickie was only followed up by the Hammers forward. No one seemed to react in a Blue shirt, and that was systematic of the lads performance last night.

They win, their fans cheered, we booed. Everton will want to forget about last night as quickly as possible. Hopefully come Saturday, Nige, Mikky and Tiny will take up their natural positions, and bring some normality to the Blues line up. Also a plea to Moyesy, in let us now see what we paid 5 million big ones for, in Per Kroldrup. Davey Weir is a great servant to our great club, but let a pair of fresh legs be unleashed on the Premiership, as the Dane must be wondering what he has to do, when Davey is throwing performances in like that. Not good enough, and the Big Scot will know that.

My starman goes to Leon who was the only shining light last night. Good movement, good control, on a piss poor night.

Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: The better team won. We can't really have many complaints. They were better than us in every department. We started well and in the opening 10 minutes we did everything right. Getting a good start at home is exactly what you want. But we made a poor decision in the lead up to the throw-in (ahead of the equaliser) and it was a poor goal to lose by Premier League standards. It wasn't even a good cross into the box but it led to an own goal and that set us back.

I do think Sunday took a lot out of us. But we were going to try and get forward and they counter-attacked very quickly with power and pace. And that can sometimes look worse than it is. It was bad but we were trying to get through them and they were breaking on us. But they were still better than us in every department.

We showed by the way we started there was a lot of self-belief. But I have told the players we have been on a good run. We have got to put this to one side and try to go on another good run. These things happen. We need to try and improve. Losing James altered the way he had to play a little bit and things quite didn't go as well after that. I am not too sure what the situation is with James is. We have not checked it yet. We were in the ascendancy and looking more like a second goal than conceding an equaliser. But we didn't respond well after that. We have to look at the bigger picture. If you look at the last seven or eight games we have been in a good run and if we get one of these every so often but win four or five out of the seven I would settle for that." (15/12/05)

Everton Team News

Everton should add Mikky Arteta to the starting eleven that performed so well against manure on Sunday for tonight's visit of West Ham to Goodison. The likely fall guy will be Killa, as Mikky will slip into the midfield alongside Ossie, Phil Neville and Simple. Dickie will retain the green jersey, as Nige's injury has still not cleared up, but he may have done so on merit anyway. Faddy and Biffa will continue their fruitful partnership of late up front, as Moyesy's injury and suspension worries' ease with the start of the Christmas period.

Moyesy says: "Things are a little bit better this week. We have Mikel Arteta back from suspension but a knee injury meant he may not have been available at United anyway. We are feeling much more confident in the way we are playing right now but the West Ham game will be tough. They have done well this season and are above us in the table. They have had some really good away performances and we will have to turn up and make sure we are ready for the game. It will be a real hard game to win. All the games are different and you can never tell exactly how they will pan out but we have to make sure we produce good home form between now and the end of the season. If we do that, bearing in mind we have the chance to redress the balance between games at home and games away from home, then it will help propel us to a healthier part of the league." (14/12/05)

About The Opposition

Prem new boys have surprised everyone with their fantastic start to this season's campaign. Ex manure forward Teddy Sheringham is a doubt for tonight's clash, so it looks like Harewood, and Zamora will start up front. On the plus side though they welcome back Christian Dailly to the heart of their defence.

Everton have been the Hammers voodoo side in the Prem with the Blues registering only one defeat against the East Lahndoners, that coming back in 1994. Lets hope it continues tonight.

Roy Carrol says: "Bobby Zamora and Marlon Harewood have done very well these last two games and they'll be important again at Everton. We've scored four goals in two away games and that's a real positive for us that we'll take into the Everton match. This is our third game away from home in a row but the way we've played in the other two gives us confidence." (14/12/05)

West Ham from: Carroll, Hislop, Repka, Ferdinand, Konchesky, Benayoun, Noble, Dailly, Newton, Mullins, Etherington, Sheringham, Harewood, Zamora, Bellion, Aliadiere, Bywater.
