What's gone wrong, five months ago this group of player's were being lauded for their efforts, taking the Blues to fourth, in the hardest League in the World. Now we look like relegation fodder, beaten by a team from Romania, with no pedigree whatsoever.

The night started so well, as Everton took the game to Bucharest, but once again chances went begging. How is it that 40 odd thousand Blues who attend Goodison weekly, and countless thousands who don't can see we are crying out for a front man, but the people who matter don't. We buy three defenders, and a defensive midfielder but buy no one who knows where the onion bag is. Goals win you points and games, win you Cups, but alas poor old Benty ploughed a lone furrow, as Everton missed chance after chance.

Bucharest made us pay, against the run of play I may add, after new boy Valente was found wanting out on the left, the Romanians grabbed the opener. Joey quickly pulled one back for the Blues, when his powerful header was guided into the net from a set piece free kick from Simon Davies. That's about as good as it got, as Everton missed their chance to build a lead with their first half domination. Half time came, the performance was good, lets build on it, how wrong I was !!

Half Time: Dinamo Bucharest 1, EVERTON 1

I am not going to go into much detail to spare us all, but it has to be without doubt one of the worst halves of football I have ever seen Everton play. Their first half dominance went out of the window, as Bucharest laid into the boys. Everton disintegrated as goal after goal flew in past Martyn. Two more from the left side of the pitch, as Valente was no where to be seen. Everton brought Dunc, and Killa on, but to no avail, Bucharest were rampant, as Everton allowed them to dictate the game.

The Everton crowd were stunned as Bratu scored two late goals to surely put the tie, and our European dream firmly to bed. God I hope I am wrong, but something tells me we have not got four goals in us in a fortnight.

Everton as a club need to re organise. As Blues this is simply not good enough, on or off the pitch. What the fans had to endure at John Lennon Airport, and the unfortunate ones who made it to Bucharest, have our total sympathy. Banners behind the goal were there proclaiming 'Wyness Out', and they did not go unnoticed. Everton need to get sorted on and off the pitch soon, or risk losing 40 odd thousand fans who pay their way, and give the players and staff the life style they are privileged to receive.

My Blue kipper Star man goes to all the fans, who paid their money, sang their hearts out, and were dished up that shite.

Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: “I’ve experienced defeats before but I don’t think I’ve ever felt lower than I do now. But it’s not just about me, we are all in it together and I’m sure the supporters are just shattered by the performance we have put in tonight. I haven’t got a real answer to that, maybe we ran out of legs in the second half but I certainly didn’t expect that scoreline at half-time. I felt as though we deserved to be in front at half-time, never mind level. We were hopeful of a good result. I have said plenty to them(the fans) in the past but tonight I don’t think that any words I give them would be good enough.”

Skipper Davie Weir says: "I am not sure that we need to speak about what went wrong now but it's not acceptable and we're very disappointed. We fell apart and we're really sorry for the fans. We'll do our best to turn the tie around." Davey Speaks on Piss Poor Performance

Off The Ball

* Hundreds of Everton fans have been left stranded at John Lennon Airport, after the collapse of the airline leased to take them to Bucharest. The flight was originally scheduled to take off at 8:30am, but by 1:30pm, the fans were told to pack up and go home, after the stewards had left the building. Police were called, as the fan's voiced their disapproval, as they had been led a merry dance all morning. More to follow as it comes through, but once aging Everton's admin have not covered themselves in glory. Fans had paid £300 for the trip, but it could end up costing the Blues more in the long run. Everton Team News

Defo out are PK, Pisto, Nace and Cars. Beattie flew out with the squad today after a run out with the Rezzies last night. Neville is back in the squad after suspension. Moyesy will wait till the last minute to pick the team.

Moyesy says: “James played 45 minutes for the reserves last night. We thought he needed a bit of match practice, he has been out for four weeks. He feels his toe still isn’t right and we will now need to give him the required rest to get himself right. We didn’t expect it because he trained Thursday, Friday last week. He wasn’t ready to play but because of a lack of numbers we put him on the bench and he got on. He trained Monday and Tuesday and we put in the reserves for half the game but he still doesn’t feel it is right, so there was no point in bringing him.” (15/09/05)

Moyesy says: "I want to get a run in the competition because I don't want the success we had last year to go out of the window by the end of September. We fought tooth and nail to get into the Champions League and finished fourth. We want that to continue. We know the effort we put into that would be wasted if we went out of Champions League and then the UEFA Cup. It is hard not to talk and think about Villarreal because getting to that level was so long in coming. I can still feel the tingle I got from both games. I am sore at what happened but we have got to move on. I want us to go through so we can use the UEFA Cup as experience in years to come and be better at it." (14/09/05)

Everton (from): Martyn, Hibbert, Yobo, Weir, Valente, Neville, Davies, Arteta, Cahill, McFadden, Osman, Ferrari, Li Tie, Kilbane, Bent, Ferguson, Hughes, Anichebe, Wright, Ruddy.

About The Opposition

Moyesy took Alan Irvine with him to watch Dinamo beat FCM Bacau 6-0 last Sunday.

Moyesy says: "They were very offensive and while I am not so sure how good the opposition were on the night, they have got some very good attacking players and they like to get forward. Every year, they are always in one of the European competitions and they have got a little bit more experience than we have at the minute. The stadium is poor and there is a big running track around it. There are no stands but the fans are still quite hostile. It is not like anything we have experienced before, not even the Villarreal trip or anything we may have experienced in any Premier League game. We know it will be a tough game. We need to come away from Bucharest with a good result and we would like to try and score there to give us a chance when we come back to England. The away goal is very important now. We want to go there and make sure we give ourselves a real chance in the second leg. They look like a very good home side and they are certainly capable of causing us problems. We will need to be on guard." (14/09/05)

Dinamo coach Iaon Andone says: "I believe in our chance. We can qualify further. We must take advantage of the fact that Everton are in a bad shape right now. But we still need some luck. I've found a lot about Everton in the recent past. I hope they won't give us any more surprises. The score obtained with FCM Bacau (6-0 win) is a little bit high before a confrontation into European cups, but it's important that we've played very good.” (13/09/05)
