After the highs of Friday nights emphatic win against Fulham, the Blues travelled the thirty odd miles to play their closest rivals for fifth spot in the League. Normally the Reebok is one of our bogey grounds, but yesterday the boys went there with an Easter spring in their step and came away with a creditable draw. Now before I start, let me tell you Bolton to me are up there with the shite, Fulham and Newcastle, I bleedin' hate them. If I ever hear anyone else say to me, Big Sam for England I will hit them, and after witnessing yesterdays assault on our team, it has only strengthened my views. How can you justify employing someone like Spit the Dog in your business, one horrible footballer, and more to the point one horrible person, ask Phil Neville what he thinks of him. The ex kopite never even got booked for an outrageous over the top challenge that even Stevie Wonder would have seen. You have Kevin Davies, sending the knee into Tim Howard, then pleading his innocence, cowardly shit, then you have Sideshow Bob Campo, Nicky Hunt, and Nolan all in your set up, I could go on, but I won't. Big Sam for England, as they say, 'your 'avin a laugh'. Well after my rant, back to the game. The Blues started brightly with Moyesy sticking to the same eleven that took Fulham apart. Vaughny's contribution come the end of the season, has been like a new signing to us, his running and enthusiasm is a joy to watch, and if he carries on at this rate, he will save the club a few bob in the transfer market in future years. The first half was not one for the purists of the game, with Bolton mostly responsible with their brand of long ball football. The Blues did try to knock it around, but in the process they got knocked around themselves as it looked like Bolton were under orders from the manager to rough Everton up a bit. Well we can mix it with the best of them, but credit to the Blues they did not let the physical side of things put them off their game, as Leon, Mikky and co. tried to play it on the ground to the front men. Chances for both sides were few and far between, and it was going to take an individual error to put some score on the doors. Unfortunately for us it was Roger who duly obliged when from a Bolton free kick all the Blues ran the line to perfection, except Roger who tracked back playing at least four Bolton players on. Davies controlled well and fired the ball past Tim to give the home side the lead. A mix up admittedly, but no finger pointing to a player who has been outstanding this season to say the least. The Blues reply took only fifteen minutes, and came courtesy of James Vaughan, who drove low past that fella's name I can't pronounce to level the scores up. He took out three Bolton defenders after the ball fell kindly to him and scored to give the Blues a half time share of the spoils. Half Time 1-1 The second period followed the same path as the first, chances few and far between. The half was unfortunately over shadowed by a nasty looking injury to Everton's goal scorer James Vaughan. This time in fairness to Bolton it was an accidental clash and with blood gushing from his ankle the attacker was stretchered off to be replaced by Biffa for the last half hour. Chances were as rare as a decent kopite, as the game fizzled out to the inevitable draw. Both Managers will probably be happy with that, especially the Blues as we now have a three point lead over Spurs, and a far superior goal difference. Bolton are still in our sights, and they travel to Arse this weekend, with a draw being the result we would love, but only if we put in the hard work against a semi resurgent Charlton side at Goodison on Sunday. No Everton players stood head and shoulders from their team mates. Stubbsey as ever was a colossus at the back, Leon, AJ and Vaughny put the work rate in, but my starman goes to Skipper Phil Neville, who put in a Captains performance, in what was always going to be a hard fought game against a hard working if over physical team at times side. Well done boys, Charlton on Sunday, lets keep the momentum going as we strive for the UEFA Cup place we so desperately want. Full Time 1-1

Moyesy says: We didn’t start the game well and conceded a badly worked free-kick but I’ve got to credit the players for coming back into it. We were much more solid in the second half. At half-time we asked them to get into the game. We were a bit softer than I’d have liked in the first-half – more to do with our decision making. We took touches when we shouldn’t and didn’t pass it when we should have done. It was a very good finish for the goal and good play by Ossie too, when he wriggled into the area. Moyesy On Vaughany's Injury: "James has severed an artery. It is not a break but it was spurting blood out. The doctor has stitched him up but the foot has blown up again." He done great and he is that type of lad and I just hope we are not going to lose because we cannot afford to lose any more players." (09/04/07) |

What Do you think The Score Will be? How Will the game pan out? Who Will Score the goals? e-mail info@bluekipper.com before the match. Keep it short and to the point. * 1-0 Lescott last minute bullet header! John C * Everton to win 1-0 at Bolton with James Vaughan to score. Josh Donnelly * I`d give this one up and play the reserves as notloB will probabally just kick the shite out of everyone as usual, and we don`t want too many injuries now. AJ should have a good day against the big dopey bastards, but I reckon we`ll come second in this one. 2-1 Fish * A hard fought 1-1 draw with a late AJ penalty cancelling out a Davies header from a set piece. Karl from Kent * Bolton 1-2 Everton Johnson & Arteta to score. Dan Ferrie |

The Blues magnificent win against Fulham on a very Good Friday came at a cost. Big Vic is doubtful after jarring his knee late on, and Harry Hill is 50/50 after banging his noggin in a clash with ex Blue Brian McBride. Manny Fernandes is also struggling with his thigh strain, though like Harry Hill and Big Vic he is included in the squad. If fit he may make the bench. Dickie Wright, well less said the better is out of the squad and he is replaced on the bench by John Ruddy. Everton's most important fixture of the season sees them come up against their main UEFA Cup rivals in notloB. A win would see us leap frog the Trotters and put us in pole position for a fifth place finish. Bolton's home record in the Premiership against Everton is a good one though, with last season's victory courtesy of Marcus Bent's first half strike being the Blues only success at the Reebok in the last four attempts. In saying that, only Man City have beaten on us on travels since mid December, and after taking Fulham to the cleaners last Friday, Moyesy's boys will be going into the match full of confidence. Moyesy says: "You know that when you play Bolton you have to match them. You have to compete but we’ve played Bolton a few times and we know all about them. It’s as tough a game as you’ll get in the Premier League. Big Sam’s teams are always hard to break down and they have had a great season again. We just have to try and win as many games as we can – we’ve got Bolton next and then Charlton at home. The games are going to be difficult for all the sides and there are no easy games because somebody is looking to avoid relegation or gain a European spot or, in two cases, win the league." | Lavo's Bet: AJ has left it to his team mates to do the business in the last few games, but I back the England front man to come up with the goods against notloB. Get on him at 11/2 for the first goal. |

notloB defeated Wigan at the weekend thanks to a brace from Iranian midfielder Andranik Teymourian (we should have took him hostage), to get themselves back to winning ways after a lean spell in the League. Back to back wins against Sheff Utd, and now Wigan has got Big Sam's team back on track for a European place. They welcome back Sideshow Bob, sorry Ivan Campo to add some pace into the midfield (sarcastic humour is so good), but they will have to do without Kevin Nolan as he sits out the second match of his suspension. Alan Stubbs who played over 200 games for Bolton is confident of the Blues chances, but realises how much of a threat our Lancashire neighbours pose tomorrow, and to our European hopes this season. Stubbsey says: Bolton is completely different from when I was there. There will be no sentiment on Monday and it is a massive game for both clubs. We want to finish as high as possible and if that means getting a result at Bolton then that is what we have got to do. I think Bolton are our biggest rivals because they are in front of us at the moment but I still think Tottenham will have a big say in things and Reading, along with Blackburn, probably still feel they can get involved as well. But as long as we keep doing what we are doing, we won't have to worry about the teams behind us."
