Moyesy says: “It was a bonus keeping our first clean sheet of the season. Alan Stubbs and Nuno Valente played their parts and I have got to praise them for getting that. We did not scale the heights we wanted to in the first half and probably Phil Neville was the difference. I thought his contribution was fantastic. It got us forward and we passed the ball better. The result will give us confidence and we have been needing to keep a clean sheet and score some goals. Maybe the result flattered us a little bit but at this moment in time we are looking at little bits to hold on too. The fans were incredible. I am glad we got the goals in front of the fans.” |

* Everton to win 3-0. Goals by AJ, Yak and Bainesy. Tony Bello * Made up to see Shandy back in the squad tonight's cup match. About time! Don't cock this one up lads !! Mark * I think Pienaar should start in the middle in place of Carsley with VDM or McFadden on the left/right. Pienaar should be free to be the link between midfield and attack. Neville at right back and Jags in the holding position. Yak and AJ up top. Hopefully try and keep possession and pass to feet rather than hoof the ball as far as you can and hope for the best!!!!!! Rob (Isle of Man) * Early goal for AJ and the floodgates to open. 4-1 to Everton. AJ(2) & Ossie (2). Jade * Hard fought 1-0 win. Header from Lescott and the fans still not happy. Larry |
| Still out are Cahill, Vaughan, Arteta, Gravesen and Howard. Yobo has a snotty nose and the likelihood is that Stubbsy will be brought back in. A move muted by some media and fans alike. The Yak has responded well to being left out and now understands that he has to work hard for the team. He may return. Surprisingly Shandy is back in the Squad. When even his staunch fans thought he would be shown the door, he has been given a tenth chance. Alan Irvine says: "We won't make many changes. We haven't picked the team yet but we have got much the same squad as we had at the weekend at Aston Villa. Alan is closer to a return to the team because Joseph Yobo didn't train today because he is under the weather. I don't think it is anything major and he may well be available for the game but if not, Stubbsy can go straight in there anyway." Sausages XI To Start: Wessels, Jagielka, Stubbs, Lescott, Baines, Pienaar, Carsley, Neville, Osman, Johnson, Yakubu. Everton from: Wessels, Hibbert, Jagielka, Yobo, Stubbs, Lescott, Valente, Baines, Osman, Carsley, Neville, Pienaar, McFadden, Johnson, Yakubu, Anichebe, Vidarsson, Ruddy, Van der Meyde. Jags says: “Hopefully I will get a game and it will be nice to get a run out at Hillsborough as an ex-Sheffield United player. I am sure I will get a tasty reception from their fans." Chris Woods says: "It's a club that should be playing in the Premier League. The fanbase is enormous. When I was playing it was a sell out every other week at home. They deserve better. It is probably going to be a long road back to the Premier League but hopefully one day they will do it. They will be right up for it. There will be a good crowd, and it's not going to be an easy game. We will have to go out there and give it our all. There should be a good atmosphere and it could well be an old fashioned cup tie." Iain Turner says: "It's a great club, a big club, and they have got some quality players in their team. They haven't started the season too well but the football they've been playing has been brilliant. It just takes time. They have got a good front line and some good midfielders, especially Steve Watson! Watto will be looking forward to the game. Brian (Laws) is a nice guy who loves his team to play football which is what every manager should be aiming for. There were a few mixed emotions when the draw was made and obviously I am dying to play in it." Despite not scoring this season AJ is still fav at 4/1 to score first goal. Roger, Everton's leading scorer is better value at 22/1. I'm having a fiver on each of them. |

Wednesday are proping up the Championship, even after their first win of the season. A 1-0 win over Hull on Saturday with Franny 'jugears' Jeffers scoring. Ex-Everton favourite Steve Watson is struggling with a hip injury while Etienne Esajas, Glenn Whelan and Michael Johnson are also doubtful. |
