Moyesy says: "The second half was much better. At least we created more chances. I am disappointed that we went a goal down at a time where I didn't think we were second best, but we were second best after they scored. We made changes because of injury. "I dont think the players played well in the first half. But we lost Lee Carsley with a groin strain in the first half and we lost Alan Stubbs with a groin strain as well. They were down to injury both those changes." There will always be eyebrows raised (at team selection) and you are going to have to play well to be in the team. That goes for everybody. I thought Leighton played well and in a lot of ways I didn't think we backed him up in his performance. Leighton will be pleased to get that one under his belt and hopefully next time he comes and plays for us we will play much better. Phil did make a difference (when he came on), that is all credit to him. We have tried to break him in carefully, like we did with Joleon when he was coming off the bench in the first few games last season." Moyesy On The Minutes Tribute To Rhys Jones: "If there was a highlight of today, it was the way the supporters of Everton football Club and I have got to say the people of the city of Liverpool. It was a tragedy that should never have happened which no one wants to see ever again. The sooner we get the person or people who did it, the better. We have to go out and play football and deaths do affect people. The Club have been terrific and today was difficult but with respect to the family, we paid our respects and I don't think that was the reason why we didnt play well in the first half." Faddy says: "It was good to come back in and get a goal and I would like to dedicate it to Rhys Jones and his family. We are all thinking about him and his family at the moment. We have had minute silences before but none of them have affected me as it did today. It is such a tragic loss and for such a young kid to be taken away is not nice. Although we have got a job to do on the football pitch it was in the back of my mind all game." |

Everton have problems with 4 lads. AJ, Joey, Leon and Victor. Biggest doubts are Joey and Leon. And with Manny and Yak still not cleared to play it will mean a debut for Bobby Baines and expect Steven Pienaar to come in for his first start. Moyesy says “Blackburn will be close to the top end of the league and I hope we will be the same. Mark Hughes and his players have attracted some criticism this season for their boisterous style of football but the Blues boss doesn’t subscribe to that particular point of view. “I actually think Blackburn play the game very well and I wouldn’t say they are overly physical. They are a good side and they are very under-estimated in a lot of ways. I think it will be a tough game because they have always been difficult opponents. Stubbsey says: "We have had a decent start to the season and it shows how far we have come, that we were looking for nine points from out first three games against Wigan, Spurs and Reading. We have raised the bar on our own standards. We have added a few new players which helps the strength of the squad and we can take it from there. "We
have got six points out of nine, and if you had offered us that an hour
before the start of the season, we would have snatched your hand off.
The Reading result was a blip but we are playing well enough to go into
our next game and be confident of getting another result. We will look
at Blackburn game, and whatever we did wrong at Reading we will try
to put right." Everton from: Tim Howard, Wessels, Phil Jagielka, Phil Neville, Tony Hibbert, Joleon Lescott, Leighton Baines, Joseph Yobo, Alan Stubbs, Mikel Arteta, Lee Carsley, Leon Osman, Nuno Valente, Andrew Johnson, James McFadden, Victor Anichebe. I have an instant dislike for Blackburn and to think that we were close to signing that prick Savage. Oh my days. We have to beat them. Blackburn will be without captain Ryan Nelsen, who serves a one-match ban, so Andre Ooijer is expected to fill in. Morten Gamst Pedersen is likely to shake off a knee injury. Blackburn (from): Friedel, Brown, Enckelman, Ooijer, Samba, Warnock, Khizanishvili, Emerton, Mokoena, Tugay, Dunn, Bentley, Savage, Pedersen, Santa Cruz, Rigters, Roberts, Derbyshire, McCarthy, Gallagher, Olsson.
