Everton started with an unchanged side from the 2-1 win over Wigan. I am becoming a little bit worried about my ever-growing love for Mikel Arteta. My wife and kids don’t know about this, but during the warm-up, I found my eyes were undeniably drawn to his chiseled features. He has a face that looks as though it was carved by angels.

Oh my god, what a start. After two of minutes, Everton got the advantage. Mikel got the ball down the side and was chopped down by the extremely ugly Salteri. From the resulting famous Arteta free kick, Joleon powered in a header from six yards and scored. Now I am certain that I am in love with Mikel.

Everton did have a couple of chances when A.J. and Viktor combined well on a few occasions. Most of the pressure was coming from Spurs, and they equalised when Gardener lost his marker (Joleon) and scored with a header from a corner at 26 minutes.

Victor fed Mikel on the right and again, the Spanish genius, chipped the ball to return to Victor to head it into the back of the net, but an incredible clearance by a Spurs chappie kept the ball out, fortunately, the ball landed at Leon’s feet, who smashed it into the back of the net, to give him his second goal of the season. And yes – I really do love Mikel now.

Incredibly, Everton went 3-1 up after a foul on Viktor 30yards out. Mikel and Stubbsy started to have a chat of who was going to take it. Thankfully Mikel stepped aside to let Alan smash the ball. It hit some divvy in the wall and ended up in the back of the net.

Half Time: Spurs 1 EVERTON 3

A frantic start to the 2nd half saw Spurs nearly came back when Berbatov hit the post in the first minute. Mikel nearly got our forth by shooting from the edge of the box which went narrowly wide.

Even though Spurs had a lot of possession they never really created many chance during the middle part of the half and if anything you could only see another Toffee goal.

AJ ran himself into the ground and nearly got his reward but Robinson saved from a right footer

Robinson again kept AJ from scoring with a point blank save after Osman set up Andy, in the last minute of the game.

Everton completed an incredibly comfortable 3-1 win. Here were some amazing performances. Leon Osman just edged; the stunningly gorgeous Mikel Arteta, the never-give-up Andy Johnson and the very lovable Joleon Lescott. Everton go top of the league and I am very happy, if not quite concerned, a soon to come out of the closet Blue.

Match Report By Philip Gray

As always there was very little optimism going into this match, and a draw looked a very creditable result. The match started with the obvious nerves but after two minutes the nerves were changed to joy. When the majestic Arteta was felled by the extremely ugly Stalteri, and a trademark ourtater free kick was placed straight onto Lescott's head 5 yards out, 1-0.

We carried onto play well but as expected we were placed under pressure from the class of Spurs, (note the sarcasm there). There equaliser came when Lescott left Gardner on his own in the box, 1-1.

Unlike the Everton of old away from home, we conceded yet went attacking again. We were rewarded with a fine goal just after the equaliser. Ossie tried to slip AJ in which deflected to Big Viccy, he then laid in ourtater, before another trademark and gorgeous ball fell straight on big Viccy's head. A miraculous header from someone only fell to Ossie who SMASHED it into the roof, 2-1.

As I said before unlike the Everton of old we went attacking once more, and were rewarded again! We won a free kick just out of ourtaters range. So Stubbsy stepped up and smacked it into the bottom corner of the whinging cokneys goal, via a deflection. 3-1 and complete and utter ecstasy.

HALF TIME TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1-3 EVERTON

The second half dragged out just as all Evertonians wanted, without a spurs goal and a consistent and magical Everton performance. There were chances for all with Berbatov hitting the post, Defoe having a chance (great save from Howard) and plenty of chances for AJ and big Viccy. The blues were in fine voice as usual from watching a brilliant performance. Two wins from two provide even further excitement for us all. My man of the match goes to Leon Osman who provided the best performance I have seen from him in the royal blue. Close behind him were Mikel Arteta, Alan Stubbs, Phil Neville and Lee Carsley. KEEP IT UP BLUES! Philip Gray, Pocklington,York.

Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: "We did it last year and these players are more than capable of doing it. You're always going to have to work hard against Tottenham. It would be hard to pick out because they all did a great job. I've got a great deal of faith in my boys."

Ossie says: "We just came here and were positive. We had a good win on Saturday and won here last year and were confident we could do it again. It was 1-1 at the time, and we were pushing to get back the lead we had let slip - so it was crucial."

Stubbsy says: "The manager is always going on at us for not scoring enough goals from free-kicks. There was a little deflection, but it was on target - so I'll claim it."

Everton Team News

Tim Cahill, James Vaughan and Leighton Baines are all out injured. Moyesy will check on a few niggles, but is poised to pick the same 11 that started against Wigan on Saturday. Jimmy Mac is back in the squad. Upfront Moyesy will go for AJ and Vic. He has no choice.

Moyesy On Vic says: "He’s going to have to play. It's asking a lot for him at the moment, but I think if you asked him what would he want to do, he would want to play. We got a very good victory at Spurs last season and if we can repeat that result and performance we will be more than happy. Last season that win gave us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season, it underlined what we felt we could do. We are confident with the players we have to do that again."

Roger says: "It is always tough going on the road but Tottenham have spent well in the summer and will be looking to step it up again. I would not be surprised if they changed the front two but whoever plays for them will be tricky opponents for us but it is up to us to keep the clean sheet and get the win. Anytime you keep a clean sheet away from home is a bonus but to do at a place like Tottenham where I don’t think many teams will get points or keep a clean sheet so if we do that we will have achieved something. It was my first start for Everton in the league and have good memories of there so far but it is a different season no. Hopefully we are stronger and better than last year and I am sure they will be the same. If we can go there and play in the right manner I am sure we can come away with something."
