Bluekipper's Trip Down Memory Lane

What a journey, and yes we all feel pissed off still that it is over. Wednesday night's brave fight back against Fiorentina just wasn't enough to progress the Blues into the Quarter Finals of The UEFA Cup. On our jollies though we took in The Ukraine, Nuremberg, Alkmaar, Bergen and Fiorentina and each one of those trips were special in their own way. We at Bluekipper were proud to have played our part in taking well over 1000 Evertonians away over four trips to see our beloved Blues play in Europe.

Joe Parkinson, Dave Watson and John Ebbrell have joined in the lunacy along the way, and hopefully next season we will come back stronger than ever to attempt to crack Europe once more. Below our a few photo's that sum up the Blues Incredible Journey through Europe this season.

Metalist Kharkiv Ukraine / October 4th 2007

What a way to start your Euro jollies with a trip into the unknown. The Ukrainian Industrial city of Kharkiv was on our radar, and what a mad place it was.

After being fleeced by the local fuzz for our hard earned dollars, we found a tented village full of bars, and more importantly full of Evertonians.

The Ukrainian fans did not know what hit them as the singing started and the beer flowed, and flowed, and flowed and flowed.

Goals from Big Vic, Roger and Jimmy Mac ensured a fantastic 3-2 to the boys and it meant the fun had only just begun.

Germany Nuremberg / November 8th 2007

Without doubt this is the trip that will live long in all Blue's fans memories who were there. 5,000 fans made the trip to the City of Nuremberg in Germany. Our fans were as always a credit to the club, and the German fuzz were I think amazed at our friendly antics.

At Bluekipper we brought along two Everton Legends in the shape of Joe Parkinson and Dave Watson. My God these boys can drink (and we have the bill to prove it), but what a pleasure and an honour to have them along for the ride. They took time out between drinks to chat, sign and have photo's took with all Blues fans.

The Blues did the business on the park to round off a great trip. Big Vic and Mikky were the goal heroes as Alkmaar in Holland beckoned.

Holland Alkmaar / December 20th 2007

Amsterdam was took by storm as Blues fans enjoyed their pre Christmas piss up Dutch style (if you get my drift). With the Blues having already topped the Group and qualified for the knockout stages, Evertonians were here for a party, tension free.

Alkmaar were our hosts, and we did what any good Brit would do in Holland, that's right we got leathered, smoked and felt totally spaced out, and also tried to keep warm on a bitterly cold night.

The Boys continued to do the business as Moyesy used his squad to the full. AJ, The Jag and Vaughny helped to give the boys a 3-2 victory. Four Group games and four wins, bring on the knockouts now.

Norway SK Brann / February 13th 2008

It getting serious now, as the knockout rounds began. Norway was the venue and after we had sorted a mortgage extension from the bank, we knew we could at last fly out there and buy their alarmingly expensive ale. No joke, it was £6 to £7 for a pint, but we still managed to get hammered.

Joe Parkinson came along again, and anyone who was in the bar with us when Joe was on the stage will never forget Joggers opening question from the floor. We still don't know who has a bigger head, normal people or ......, no I won't go there, and Joe is made up we won't as well.

The boys carried on with their splendid European away day wins with goals from Ossie and Euro specialist again Big Vic earning us a superb 2-0 win.

Italy Fiorentina / March 6th 2008

Without doubt a bad trip. Great fun in the day, but the result, the weather and the over zealous fuzz made sure that the travelling Blue Army had bad memories of our trip to the beautiful city of Florence.

The police all kitted up in their riot gear and with their water cannons at the ready must have been bemused and embarrassed when the superb Blue army did not react to their obvious provocation.

John Ebbrell and John Parkinson joined in the Bluekipper fun, and had to help us in eating the largest Pizza ever cooked on the Italian mainland. Norris and Ross McWhirter were called to measure the pizza, but before they could arrive the two stalwarts of Joe Royle's Dogs of War had munched the soddin' lot, as well as washing it down with several jugs of grog.

Bad day got worse as the Italians over ran the Blues with a 2-0 win.

So that was that. The 2007/08 UEFA Cup campaign will live long in our memories and what fun we had. Hopefully when we next have a crack in Europe be it in the UEFA Cup or the Champions League next season, the Blues will have the experience to prolong our adventures even further. One thing is for sure Bluekipper along with thousands of other Blues will be there again for the ride.
