Message For Travelling Blues

Blue Bill like everyone else who is making their way out to Nuremberg is incensed that Everton fans expecting to pick tickets at the Ground will now not be able to. I think most knowledgeable fans will realise that the blame lies solely with UEFA on this one, and it will be a disgrace when hard working football fans will no doubt be ripped off as UEFA hand their ticket allocation over to the touts. Blue Bill shares the fans frustrations, but as normal he is expecting a good show from the fans who may be outside the ground come kick off time.

Blue Bill says: "Everyone at Goodison Park is unhappy at this situation on behalf of our supporters – from David and the team, to the Board of Directors and staff. We understand how much this football club means to Evertonians and consequently how important a European game is to them.

We knew when our small allocation was sold out that demand for tickets would continue to be huge for the game in Nurnberg. We absolutely share and accept the frustrations that the fans feel having supposedly purchased tickets direct from the club in Germany but sadly there is nothing we can do about the decision made by the authorities.

We can only ask our fans that wherever they watch the match, they continue to be the great ambassadors of this football club that they have always been." (07/11/07)

Important - Nuremberg Tickets

Bad news folks. If you had the nouse to book your match ticket direct through Nuremberg's own web site or phone service, UEFA have now deemed that you cannot have your match tickets. They have categorised the match as high risk, and have got onto the fact that English based fans have been sourcing their tickets direct from Nuremberg FC, who were quite happy to sell them to Blues fans. Nuremberg even had the intelligence to place them next to the official away block in their Ground, to put all the Blues fans together.

To listen to the recorded message, please ring 0049180 5050326. Nuremberg have stated that a full refund will be given to the unlucky Blues fans who booked their tickets this way.

Message to UEFA, high risk, ask the Mayor of Rotterdam, or the fans in Kharkiv, Villareall and alike if we are thugs. Don't tar all English fans with the same brush, Platini you tit, get a grip. The sad fact is, Blues fans will probably still get these tickets but pay over the odds to sit in the same seats that they had already paid for. Have a think about it UEFA. (05/11/07)

Fortune Changer Hans Meyer

Nuremberg FC Info

A brief rundown on our EUFA Cup opponents Nurnberg FC:

The club is 107 yrs old, and like EFC think of themselves as the 'peoples club'.They have an average home gate of 41,000, and are known as ' Der Club.'

They last won the German championship in 1968 (now the Bundesliga), and last season won the German equivalent of the FA Cup for the first time in 45yrs.

Nuremberg have struggled in recent history until fortunes changed in season 05/06 when Hans Meyer took over as coach, at the time they were bottom but finished the season in 8th position. Since then they finished 6th last season (as well as the cup win) and are currently lying next to bottom, having played 9, won 1, drawn 3 and lost 5, with 9 goals for and 16 against.

That does not mean we should be complacent, as they are in the draw against Everton, etc. and means that at present are as good as any team there.

I Was There (Last Year)

It’s a really nice town – it was just a pain in the arse to get to! Manchester – Stansted, 8 hour layover then Stansted - Nuremburg, game and then a 14 hour train journey to Berlin. A very tiring couple of days with no shower facilities! I was well ripe when I got to Berlin – it was absolutely scorchio over there.

If you have any chance of a stopover in Nuremberg – it’s well worth it.

Top tip, do not stand on the dais and pull the salute. You will be instantly arrested and miss the game.

Hitler's Baddies Stand Trial

History

Nuremberg is steeped in recent history and is most famous for the Nuremberg Trials when some of Hitler's finest went on trial for war atrocities. The trials took place between 1945 - 1946 and the city was chosen to host them as it was the location of the Nazi party's Nuremberg rallies, there was symbolic value in making it the place of the Nazi demise.

The city was severely damaged in Allied strategic bombing from 1943-1945. On January 2, 1945, the medieval city centre was systematically bombed by the Royal Air Force and the U.S. Air Force and about ninety percent of it was destroyed in only one hour, with 1800 residents killed and roughly 100,000 displaced. In February 1945, additional attacks followed. In total, about 6000 Nuremberg residents are estimated to have been killed in air raids. Despite this, the city was rebuilt after the war and was to some extent, restored to its pre-war appearance including the reconstruction of some of its medieval buildings.

More Happy Stuff

In the nineteenth century Nuremberg became the "industrial heart" of Bavaria with companies such as Siemens and MAN establishing a strong base in the city. Nuremberg is still an important industrial center with a strong standing in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe. Items manufactured in the area include electrical equipment, mechanical and optical products, motor vehicles, and printed materials. The city is also strong in the fields of automation, energy, and medical technology.

Nuremberg's famous Christmas market is on every year, funnily enough at Christmas time, and the bit you have been waiting for, the ale is strong, loads of bars and nightlife, but their team is not setting the world alight at the moment. Roll on November 8th.
