Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: We need to do much better. I think we could have scored ten but to concede four isn’t good. I’ve got to give Cambridge credit for the way they played. We don’t have much cover to give one or two boys a breather. We’re a little bit short in several areas but hopefully we’ll turn that round.

It was good to get Arteta back but I think it was very noticeable that he is a long, long way off. But he will be ready for the start of the Premier League season.”

Cambridge Manager and Real Bluekipper FC player Gary Brabin says: "It was nice to get our first win against a Premiership side". Off the mic Brabs allegedly asked when the next Bluekipper game was.

Well played to Brabs and Cardy. The drinks are on you

Everton Team News

The really good news is Mikky is fit to play. He is confident of getting at least 20 minutes on the pitch.

Mikky says: "It is going very well after the surgery. I think we did the right thing and I'm feeling much better now. Hopefully on Saturday I will play 15 or 20 mins to start getting back in the team. I've been working hard during the summer and hopefully soon I can be fit and back again."

Moyesy says: “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been back plenty of times before and I won promotion with Preston there. Hopefully it will be another good run around for us and the team will be similar to the one against Sion.

Cambridge was the first move I made away from Scotland and I joined when they were playing at a really good standard. They were in the equivalent of the Championship now and there were some great teams in there." (19/07/08)

About The Opposition

An extra special day for Real Bluekipper FC player and new Cambridge manager Gareth Brabin. Brabs (to his mates) has been given special leave of absence from the Blue Kipper Pre-season training camp to take charge of the U's. As a massive Evertonian this is a special day for Gary. His assisant manager at Cambridge is good mate and fellow scouser, Paul Carden. Cardy will play against Everton, but as much as he'd love to Brabs won't. A special coach will leave the Valentine in Aintree full of family and friends to see the game.

Gary says: "Everton are the team I supported as a boy and I'm really pleased that my first home game as manager is going to be against them. I know David Moyes as well, from when he played for Preston, and he's a great lad. He has worked really hard and gone on to be a top coach and manager, but I'm proud to be managing Cambridge United and this game is extra-special for me."
