| You
Have a Point Kevin
Moyesy
has backed failed pop stars Kevin Keegan's comments that the chasing
pack in the Premiership are light years away from the top three,
and season in season our Champions League football. The cash revenues
coming in to the likes of manure, The Arse and Chelski are giving
those teams an unfair advantage in the chase for Europe and Keegan
infuriated his Chairman in saying that he needed serious cash himself
to get anywhere near them. In agreeing with Keegan, Moyesy also
added that he will not give up fighting for a Top Four slot, and
we only have to go back to 2005 to prove it can be done.
Moyesy
says: "I think a lot of the things Kevin said aren't
far off the mark. But from my point of view, I will never accept
that we can't do it. We have done it once and pushed it close this
year. I need to find the reasons why we couldn't keep going. I will
try and look for that - it could be about having a few more players
and better quality as well.
We have said before - we don't spend fortunes. We
have tried to find a good club and a good model. The team has done
really well and there are many clubs who would love to be in the
position we are in. But I am keen to be in a position the teams
above us are in." (10/05/08)

- The Club At It's Best
Over
the years we have had a go at plenty of things we and the fans think
Everton have done badly, but we have to hand it to Everton's award
winning website regarding evertonTV. It gives the fans what they
want. As well as exclusive footage and regular interviews with Moyesy
and the first-team squad, there are some great interviews with the
backroom staff, physio Mick 'Basil' Rathbone, goalkeeper coach,
Chris Woods and fitness coach Dave Billows.
Plus
there is 20 minute highlights of every competitive senior match
since June 2006. There is an extensive archive were you can:
watch
classic matches, see interviews with Everton legends Alan Ball R.I.P.,
Dave Hickson, Dave Watson, Colin Harvey, Brian Labone R.I.P., Mick
Lyons, and Graeme Sharp. Also interviews with former players like
Robert Warzycha, Alan Ainscow, Niclas Alexandersson, Alessandro
Pistone and others. See interviews with the Everton Ladies on their
outstanding season. Interviews with reserve team coach, Andy Holden
aswell as a chance to listen to up and coming stars of the future,
Dan Gosling and Lukas Jutkiewicz.
Recently
on evertonTV there are interviews with Jimmy Ball (Alan's son) who
recalls the day Goodison paid tribute to his dad. News on Everton
in the Community with Andrew Johnson and Rachel Brown talking about
the launch of Everton's Healthy Schools Bus number 2. The fans also
have a voice, with Interviews with the fans at matches. Some of
them hilarious. Plus news on Everton Tigers Basketball team.

Rich
List
Years
ago League tables in football won you trophy's if you finished
at the top of the tree. Nowadays League tables compare how rich
you are and you are judged accordingly. Some fella' called Forbes
(or he may run some posh rag) says the Blues are worth $197m,
which pales into comparison when you gauge us against manure,
Madrid and alike. In the table though we come in 21st in the Worlds
richest clubs, and we are the sixth richest in England. I find
this all ironic when we are told that normally we have not got
a pot to piss in, but hey sixth in England, what do we win for
that.
Sod
the financial league tables, let just win a trophy, as that would
be priceless to most Blues fans. (01/05/08)

We
Need Europe
Everton's
CEO Bully Beef is hoping like all Blues that we qualify for next
season's UEFA Cup. Fans will want it for the potential silverware
it could bring us, but Bully's reason's may be more financial
though. With games against The Arse and The Skunks to go, it is
still in the Blues hands to qualify for European football for
the third time in four seasons.
Bully
says: "We’ve had a record points haul this season
but it’s a crucial point in the season, everyone is so excited
with the finish that we’re going to have and hopefully we can
pull it through – it has been a season with a lot of activity
and there’s a lot of talking points which is great.
But (European qualification) is crucial in terms of raising the
profile of the Club because you get talked about in the media
if you’re in a certain bracket of clubs and I think that this
season we have cemented our position within that group of clubs
and I think that we now have that respect. Certainly around the
world we have attracted attention. Every time the name of Everton
is mentioned overseas and in the media and on television etc.
it helps us. It is now up to us to capitalise on that success
and move forward as a club." (30/04/08)

Howarth
Backs The Stadium
Knowsley
North MP George Howarth has backed Tesco's plan for Kirkby, which
as we know includes the Blue's proposed new stadium. In a letter
to his constituents the MP says he is in favour of progress in
the area in which an estimated 700 jobs will be created by the
developmet.
Last
year Mr. Howarth said he would listen to the concerns of the local
residents and that if certain issues regarding traffic and transport
were not dealt with he would call for a Public Inquiry. Oh I would
love to be at his next meeting with his constituents, it may be
a bit lively.
Georgey
Boy says:
"There are big divisions among residents, but over the last
few weeks developments on issues like jobs and housing have tipped
the balance in favour of it. I
do not think everything is perfect, but there is a much stronger
commitment from Tesco and a big reassurance was its decision to
buy the existing town centre.
They
will not allow £60m of investment to rot. Kirkby now faces
a choice. We can leave the town to stagnate with no realistic
prospect of any major regeneration for the foreseeable future.
Alternatively we can choose progress and a new, modern, successful
town,. I choose progress.” (24/04/08)

Land
Bought
Everton's
proposed move to Kirkby became a step closer yesterday as Tesco
Terry officially bought the land were the Blues Stadium will be
sited if Knowsley Council give the Planning Application the green
light.
The
move away from the City Boundaries has split Blues fans as Everton
became the first club to give the fans a vote on the issue. A 60%
/ 40% vote in favour of moving to Kirkby was the result and today
Everton took a step closer to leaving Goodison Park forever.
Michael
Kissman Tesco Corporate Affairs Manager says: "This
deal ensures that the whole of Kirkby town centre can be included
in the exciting regeneration plans of the 'Destination Kirkby' project.
Our plans have always been about adding to the town centre, rather
than replacing it, and this deals proves that point.
A key priority will now be to meet the range of
tenants on this site. We want to work with local traders to ensure
this site benefits from the wider investment for new shops and an
Everton stadium currently being considered by Knowsley Metropolitan
Borough Council." (22/04/08)

Who
Reads The Small Print?
With
the Blues and Tesco making slight amendments to their original plans
regarding the proposed development of the new Stadium in Kirkby,
it has come to light that some of the small print in the revised
Tesco planning application may hinder any other investment within
Everton FC.
Planning
permission to Tesco and Everton will or will not be granted after
the May Local Elections, but if any investors were to come forward
to invest in the Blues regarding any other Stadium development or
any re build of Goodison they would be turned away by the current
board. The full paragraph is below to read:
6.10
A further point that is of relevance to any debate on the options
that might be available to the Club to fund a new stadium, is the
willingness and abilities of the Club’s directors to sell some or
all of their interests in the Club in order to attract an investor
who or which might have the ability in financial terms to fund a
new stadium in its entirety or at the very least fund the shortfall
that exists in the context of this proposals. As is pointed out
in greater detail in the financial statement document 26), this
is not an option as the current directors have no intention of selling
any of their interests in the Club. (18/04/08)

The
Price We Pay
In
a week when we have seen protests over the Olympics being staged
in Beijing, protests on the streets of Zimbabwe over the despot
Robert Mugagbe, Chelsea fans will now be taking centre stage to
vent their anger at Sky TV.
A banner, yes a banner will be unfurled at Goodison on Thursday
telling a certain Mr. Murdoch that he can stick his Sky TV up
his arse, over his companies tinkering with the fixture list.
Now Sky surely have never tinkered with the fixture list in the
past, and all these Super Sunday's we see every season where the
Big Three and the shite fight it out just coincidentally come
out of the FA's computer as if by magic. Chelsea fans claim that
the "the sporting integrity of the competition" is in
danger. Mmmmmm, bit late with that one !!
Chelsea
fans though are worried that Everton officials will try and take
down the said banner, but I for one hope they don't. Now I am
all for free speech, and peoples right to protest, and I to am
a bit miffed that Sky TV have decided to throw our match on this
Thursday. If however Ashley and co. need their £120k a week
to get pissed and then chuck up on some defenseless lady, then
the fans from West London, like the rest of us need to know, that
this is the price we pay.
Some
Chelski Bod says:
"Sky Sports don't seem to care about the fans. I hope Everton
recognise it's a legitimate protest and don't get heavy handed."
Some
Everton Bod says: "Its an unfortunate precedent."

PC
Plod To Get Involved
The
Rozzers are now involved in the Derby Day shenanigans with the Blues
and the shite both contesting that their players were abused in
the heat of the battle. Claim and counter claim from both sides
will be investigated by the Fuzz, and no doubt Rafa's interpreters
will be working overtime to make the Fat Spanish Waiter sound audible.
The
Fat Spanish Waiter says:
“I am sure some of the players will be very pleased because I do
not like to hear some of the things I heard. It showed a lack of
respect for some players. So I am really pleased, especially for
some players."
Ian
Ross, Everton's Head of PR says: "Whilst
we would never condone the singling out of individual players for
vitriolic insults, it is a shame that Mr Benitez chose to ignore
the actions of his own club's supporters.
Not only was
Joleon Lescott subjected to an afternoon-long barrage of quite disgusting
and quite audible abuse, Phil Neville was seemingly spat at several
times and was also punched in the back by a supporter as he took
a throw-in. We have asked Merseyside Police and our Safety Officer
to look into the matter.
In calling for
Everton supporters to respect his players, Mr Benitez should, perhaps,
remember his comments of 12 months ago when he sought to belittle
one of world sport's oldest and most respected institutions by describing
us as a 'small club'. Respect is a two-way street."
A
Merseyside Rozzer Spokesman says: "Police will be
speaking to the clubs involved today. We will examine the CCTV footage
available."

Will Find Cash For Moyes
Everton
chairman, Bill Kenwright is confident he will find the money to
buy the players the manager wants this summer.
Blue
Bill says: "The
easiest thing would be David and Bill sitting down and sorting out
his contract. It is what surrounds that contract that's the difficult
thing. If you get into Europe it's different to finishing sixth
or seventh, and I'm talking about financially different. There are
loads of equations.
Look back at the past three or four years: last year we spent well
over £20 million. We are not a club with a Champions League-type
of income. But we broke our transfer record with Yakubu last summer.
That was a risk and look at how well it has worked. The year before,
I remember sitting with David and he asked if we could go to X for
Andy Johnson because that would have been our transfer record. We
not only went to X, we went to X-plus. The January of the season
before that we broke our transfer record for James Beattie.
We
have been willing to back our manager and we will be willing to
do that this summer. The chairman-manager relationship is like a
marriage. You have to be honest with each other. I have seen over
the years the digs that managers can give to chairmen and vice versa.
That would never work for me. I have to be able to say the good,
the bad and the ugly to David's face, which he has to do with me.
We talk before and after every game. We're in it together."

Season
Tickets
Fair
play to the Blues as once again they hand out a 10% discount for
existing season ticket holders who renew their new season tickets
by April 19th. The average rise after this date will equate to
around £2 a game, or the price of a warm can of Chang. Season
ticket holders who may be a bit skint after paying for their Summer
jollies will still have to May 11th to renew their own seat but
at the increased price. Blues fans who then want to buy a first
time season ticket will be allowed to apply from May 28th. Jesus
is it that time of year again, better take the missus out for
a meal soon to compensate.
Bully
says: "Once again during the planning process for
this year’s campaign, we have been extremely mindful of ensuring
Premier League football at Everton is as affordable as it can
be. The early bird offers of the previous two years have been
very successful and our remit from the outset was to reward those
supporters who are ready to renew their tickets in the first four
weeks of the campaign. Ten per cent is a significant discount
and we are optimistic that many supporters will take up this and
some of the other additional offers and promotions we will be
running throughout the campaign." (20/03/08)

Mind
Games, You Clever Waiter
The
Fat Spanish Waiter has worked out at last that Moyesy is using
mind games as the battle for fourth place hot's up. The shite's
own Spanish magician who I may add is doing an incredible job
at the pinkies has at last worked out that Moyesy is using a bit
of kidology in saying that they are favourites to land the prized
fourth spot in the Premiership.
In
between his waiters job at La Tosca, Beneath Us is doing a fine
job of working hand in hand with his Yankee friends in building
the shite up to be a force to be reckoned with. I bet Havant and
Waterlooville are shaking in their boots. When asked if Moyesy
was playing mind games, Rafa thought long and hard before releasing
this statement.

Intertoto
Cup
Everton
have sent an application to enter the Intertoto Cup for next season.
With Spurs winning the Carling Cup and qualifying for the UEFA Cup,
there is one less place to play for. So Everton are rightly covering
all eventualities.
Bully
Beef says, "Clearly European qualification through
our league position or via the UEFA Cup is our main priority. However
because of the deadline for Intertoto Cup applications, it would
be remiss of us not to put our name forward." (27/02/08)

| Dixie
The Movie
As
we all know it is the 80th Anniversary of Dixie Dean's never to
be broken feat of scoring sixty League goals in one season come
this May, and a host tributes will afforded to 'Sir' Dixie including
a Stage Show at the Olympia about Dixie's life and career. Now Toxteth
based Film Makers Tabacula have unveiled details in the making of
a film charting the Great Man's amazing scoring feat. Tabacula are
offering private investors the chance to be part of their project,
and further details can be sought by calling Tabacula on 0151-709
8521, or by clicking
on this link.
Director
Ian Lysaght says: "We can’t believe this hasn’t been
done yet – if Dixie had been a Manchester United player this would
probably be the ninth film about him. It’s the untold story of a
sporting icon – Great Britain’s answer to ‘Babe’ Ruth, the greatest
baseball player in American history. We’re about to start pre-production,
including the shooting of a five-minute trailer, and hope to start
filming in earnest in the summer. It will be an 18-month turnaround,
although a lottery win would speed things up!
If
we don’t achieve the full budget, we just won’t be able to do the
dramatic reconstructions or have a cinema release – and we’ll have
to interview Alan Hansen rather than Pele! Anyone who puts in over
£10,000 will be named as an ‘executive producer’ and be able
to gain an experience of film-making." (19/02/08)

Players
Views On Playing Premier League Games Abroad
Phil
Neville says: “I can understand what the traditionalists
may say, but the Premier League is worldwide. After each game
you’re doing interviews for Asian TV, Australasian TV, everywhere.
This is a chance to spread the gospel even more. Obviously it
couldn’t work if you were coming back and having a midweek game
a couple of days later. But as long as there is proper recovery
time then I’d be very excited by it.
We
play Reading this weekend and if we were doing that in the Giants
stadium in New York, all my family would be there — along with
about 20,000 scousers!" he said. Some have called for a mid-winter
break, but this could actually be part of it. You could have your
one game in the middle of, say, a two-week spell, and everyone
would benefit.”
Tim
Cahill says: "The
prospect of playing for Everton in Sydney is just fantastic. The
Australian people love Premier League football and I am sure a
club as big as Everton would attract a massive following. That
wouldn't bother me! Recovery period afterwards? That wouldn't
worry me either if it meant playing for Everton in Sydney. Just
the very thought of playing for us in a packed stadium in Australia
really excites me." (09/02/08)
Taking
The Piss
Everton
are one of twenty top flight clubs who have backed a proposal
by the FA Premier League to play a 39th fixture in a season, but
not in England, but on foreign turf.
If
the proposal becomes a reality, a draw would be made for the 39th
fixture, with this game being played in one of five nominated
cities across the globe. Bully, Everton's CEO is happy for the
concept to be investigated, and by the 2010 season the scheme
could be given the go ahead.
One
things I can't get my head round though. Surely the club's involved
will all be losing money when they pay for the flights and accommodation
for all their fans who willingly part with hundreds if not thousand
of pounds every season following their beloved clubs. Surely I
am not that cynical to think that the clubs are putting money
ahead of fan's loyalty, by taking the piss out of everyone of
us who pay their over inflated salaries year in year out. Have
a word with yourselves Chairman, or sooner or later, grounds will
be half full with fans voting with their feet and it will be you
and you alone that will kill off our beautiful game.
Bully
says: "Obviously this is a very interesting concept
but one which is at a very early stage and clearly to us warrants
further investigation. Its imperative we always consider new options
and this is certainly a new and interesting option." (07/02/08)

It
Was The Boots Fault
Gary
Lineker is putting Everton's 1986 Title heartache down to his
missing boots. The Blues striker was flying in front of goal that
season, as Everton opened up what was thought to be an insurmountable
gap on the shite. With a few games to go though, Links boots went
for a a walk, and his form in front of goal suffered. The Blues
lost out to the shite and the rest is history as they say. So
if you find the turd who took Links boots, he is getting it !!
Links
says: "we should have won the League, we had it
won with a few games to go. Then we went to Oxford and lost. I’d
got these boots that I’d been wearing since about Christmas and
I was averaging a goal a game with them but when we arrived in
the dressing room they weren’t there and I had to borrow some.
I missed chances that night. I’m always good at finding an excuse
but this is true! My lucky boots, they actually carried me through
to win the Golden Boot, were missing for that one game. We lost
and the title was back in Liverpool’s (the shite's) hands.” (27/01/08)

Those
Were The Days
So
we fell at the final hurdle against Chelsea this week, and like
most Blues of my age we remembered the great trips to Wembley
with great fondness from twenty odd years ago. The 1980's had
its moments, we had Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, love her or loathe
her Maggie Thatcher, The Miners Strike, Rick Astley and Me in
Magaluf with the boys and some lovely called Emma from Warrington
(were is she now).
Most
of all though we had Two League Titles, one FA Cup, and that fantastic
night in Rotterdam in 1985 to go down memory lane with. Moyesy
does not find us older Blues tedious for talking about those superb
years, in fact he is keen to let the next generation live them
like we did. Just one point Davey though, Magaluf isn't a patch
on what it was twenty odd years ago.
Moyesy
says: "We are working really hard to get a level
here. We are not going to stop, we’ll keep going. And if we have
to do the same thing again for the next six years to get there,
then we’ll do it. I don’t find talking about the old days tedious
as it’s an enormous part of the history of this club. For Everton,
it was a big time for them as a football club (1980's). I’m really
keen to bring those days back. It’s a different era now, different
players and the game has moved on since then. I look back with
respect and admire what happened in the old days. But we want
to achieve something here. We want to finish high in the league,
to win a cup, but it’s easy to say that. We were knocked out of
the FA Cup by Oldham the other week, and did I want to win the
FA Cup? Definitely." (25/01/08)

Great
Times
|
Rooney,
Agent Johnson, Moyesy, Wembley & Me
Blue
Bill has opened his heart up over some of the major issues that
have occurred under his Chairmanship of our Great Club. The sale
of Wayne Rooney, the Peter Johnson years, Moyesy's appointment
and hopefully a day at Wembley have all had the Blue Bill treatment.
Last but not least, Blue Bill on being an Everton junkie. Love
him or loathe him you cannot knock Bill's passion for Everton
FC, that at least we all have in common with him.
Blue
Bill on Rooney says: "I had phone calls and death
threats and people saying that Rooney didn’t want to leave the
club. At the same time I’ve got Rooney – who is a smashing lad
– on the phone to me crying and saying: ‘Please, I’ve got to leave
Liverpool’. People were claiming I was lying but David Moyes and
I had 15 meetings to try and keep Rooney. I’ve worked 15, 16 hours
a day and I’ve never understood this thing called breakdown –
but you can when you get in some of these situations. I was never
in a position where I couldn’t take it but it did get close."
Blue
Bill on Agent Johnson says: "I
bought into it because I thought it was a football club that needed
help. It needed a sort of spiritual help. We went through bad
times – we had a police cordon around the directors’ box and I
was told I could come to the game in an armoured car."
Blue
Bill on Moyesy: "People talk about stability but
it’s not that – it’s the fact that David Moyes is the best. The
thing about David is he is a winner. When he sat on my sofa when
we first met at 1am, he mentioned the word ‘win’ 17 times in 50
seconds. And I knew within three minutes that he was our man.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he creates an Alex Ferguson-type dynasty.
I know two things about him. I know he is totally committed to
Everton and I know he wants to win and he doesn’t feel he has
done that yet. But what he has done is extraordinary."
Blue
Bill On a Potential Wembley Date says: "If we beat
Chelsea and get to the Carling Cup final at Wembley, it will be
the biggest thing ever in my life. Bigger than any award, bigger
than any first night. If I am sitting in that box at Wembley on
February 24, my heart will be bursting out of my chest. I am scared
stiff just thinking about it."
Blue
Bill on Blue Bill says: "I don’t think I’ve been
a bad chairman. But have I thought about whether I can get through
another season? Yes. But then how would I live without it? This
club is a needle in my arm – I’m an Everton junkie." (22/01/08)

The New £8m Chang Deal Mean The Bullens Road Will Now Get
A Cold One?
Everton
have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with Chang Beer. The
new deal worth £8m over three years is the most lucrative
in the Club's history. Everton's Keith 'Bully' Wyness and his
deputy CEO Robert 'Bobby' Elstone were at a press conference in
Bangkok to announce the deal. The press conference, entitled “Chang-Everton:
A New Era of Co-operation”, was held at the Plaza Athenee Hotel
Bangkok. Somchai Suttikulpanich of the Thai Beverage Marketing
Company Limited, on behalf of Chang Beer, signed the contract
along with Everton's Bully. Part of the deal also means that 50
houses will be built for the tsunami victims. Also a new “Chang-Everton
Football Academy” will be centered at the ThaiBev Football Centre
in Bangkok.
Bully says: “This is a significant day for Everton.
David is the third longest-serving manager in the Premier League
and this is one of the longest sponsorship deals. I think it reflects
the stability of the club. It takes time to build trust and relationships
but this is the third time Chang have chosen to renew their links
with us and we are all very happy with the terms. It is a significant
day for us as we believe we are a sought-after commodity.
We
are absolutely delighted to be able to capitalise and build upon
our existing relationship with ChangThe scale of this new deal
reflects Everton’s success on and off the field in recent years
and also represents Chang’s faith in the Everton name. The strength
and quality of our partnership, as shown by a nomination in the
prestigious Hollis Sponsorship Awards in 2006, is of great value
to us as a club. We will continue to work together to ensure we
remain one of the Premier League’s finest partnerships.”
Bobby
says: "The record-breaking deal reflects Everton's
increasing stature within the domestic and European game and our
determination to continue taking the Club forward as a business;
ambitions that are shared by Chang. Over
the past four years we have established a rewarding working relationship
with Chang but, more importantly, we have developed a great friendship
based upon trust and respect. We are proud to have such great
friends in Thailand and proud to be continuing our work with one
of the most recognisable names in south-east Asia."
Somchai
Suttikulpanich says: “The close co-operation between
Thai Beverage Marketing Co Ltd and Everton FC in the past four
years going on fifth year is the basis for the creation of a number
of worthwhile projects beneficial to the Thai society as a whole
and to the Thai football community in particular that has benefited
from the transfer of technical knowledge and international football
tactics. In addition, Chang Beer and Everton have co-operated
in worthwhile social contribution projects such as the donation
to fund the construction of 50 houses for the 2004 tsunami victims
and their families.”
This
is indeed a big deal, but to the fans in the Upper Bullens and
the rest of the ground a bigger deal will be a nice cold Chang
on matchdays, without a frothy head. Will the £8m stretch
to a new fuck off fridge? We wait and see. (17/01/08)

Rush For New Assistant
The
manager of the People's Club is in no rush to replace assistant
manager, Alan Irvine, who left in November 2007.
Moyesy
says:
“It’s highly unlikely that I will be making an appointment before
the end of the season. I have been really pleased with work done
by Jimmy Lumsden, Andy Holden and Chris Woods since Alan left and
at this present time I am keen to maintain the consistency at the
club. I don’t want to make a change at this stage of the season
and anyway our own schedule has been too busy for me to make any
enquiries regarding the post.” (17/01/08)

Anniversary of Dixie Dean's never to be broken sixty goal in a
season feat.
Bully
Beef says: "We have been working with the Capital
of Culture over the last few years and we are sure Everton Football
Club will play its role in what should be a memorable year for
the region. We are a major part of the history of the area and,
more importantly, a crucial part of the cultural fabric that loves
football so much." (12/01/08)

Plans
Submitted
The
Blues and Tesco today submitted plans to Knowsley Council for
their proposed 50,000 seater Stadium, and Retail Outlet in Kirkby.
'Destination Kirkby' as it been named will go before the Borough
councillors over the coming months. Locals will be able to express
their concerns over the proposed venture. It is believed that
up to 80 homes may have to be demolished as well as a school and
Care Home for the development to go ahead. The scheme is costing
up to £400m, but lately local opposition has been growing
to Everton's new ground proposal. A decision on the Scheme is
due in mid to late March.
Bully
says: "This represents the next, key stage in what
has been a complex and demanding process. We continue to work
closely with our partners, Tesco and Knowsley Borough Council,
and we remain very optimistic about what is hugely-ambitious and
significant project."
Tesco
Spokesman says: "We have been working on the Destination
Kirkby planning application for the past ten months and we believe
that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a development
of truly international significance in the heart of Kirkby.
We
hope that the planning committee will consider the application
in the late Spring of 2008 and depending the outcome of that and
subsequent feedback from the Government Office North West, we
hope to be in a position to start construction work in 2008."

New Home?

Welcome
Back Dave
Dave
Hickson received a standing ovation at half time in the home win
against Bolton
when he came onto the Goodison turf to thank the fans for their
support during his recent illness. Dave is still recovering after
his Heart Attack and hopefully it won't be long till he is back
at his beloved Goodison on a regular basis.
Dave
says: "I just wanted to come out here and say thank
you to all of you have sent me get well cards and good wishes.
It would be impossible for me to thank everyone personally, but
it means ever so much to me. Thank you." (27/12/07)

Players
Bring Some Christmas Cheer
The
Blues squad before flying out to Alkmaar dropped in on Alder Hey
Children's Hospital to bring some Christmas cheer to the young
patients blue and red. Mikky Arteta, Phil Neville, The Yak, Stubbsey,
Roger and the Boys, bought and brought their own personal gifts
which hopefully put a smile on some faces over the festive period.
Well played lads.
Skipper
Phil says: "We do enjoy these visits but we do find
them hard emotionally because we have all got children ourselves
and at this time of year you want to be at home with your family
and these children are sick. I think everybody was happy today
when we took the presents and the toys – they all had a smile
on their faces." (19/12/07)

128th
AGM
Three
hundred and fifty shareholders joined Blue Bill, Bully Beef and
new boy Robert Earl in the Alex Young Suite to hear that the Blues
made an operating loss in the last financial year on a decreased
turnover. The lower turnover was explained away against the outsourcing
of catering and merchandising, players wages have increased, but
to us the fans we finished sixth and qualified for the UEFA Cup.
All in all the Blues made a pre tax loss of just under £9.5m,
or Mikky Arteta's right foot, yes I did say right, his left is
worth three times that!!
Blue
Bill says: "With the significantly increased new
TV deal starting in the 2007/08 season, it was imperative that
Everton maintained its position in the top echelons of the Premier
League in the 2006/07 season. To this end, significant investment
in the playing squad was made to secure the services of Andrew
Johnson, Joleon Lescott and Tim Howard as well as bringing in
Manuel Fernandes on loan and resulted in a sixth place finish
in the Premier League and qualification for the UEFA Cup for the
2007/08 season.
In
summary the club made a small operating loss before player trading
of £0.5 million which reflects the increased investment
in the playing squad and the fact that there was no income from
European football in the year. The
inclusion of the amortisation of players’ registrations of £10.4
million means that in the current year the club is reporting a
total operating loss of £10.9 million. The
Profit and Loss Account highlights that turnover this year stands
at £51.4 million. Although this is a decrease from the 2006
figure of £58.1 million, the reduction reflects the outsourcing
of the merchandising and catering operations where only the commissions
received from the subcontractors are included in the turnover
figure.
Taking
the operating loss of £10.9 million, which is primarily
due to player amortisation, and adding the annual financing charge
(net interest of £2.8 million), the profit on disposal of
fixed assets (player registrations £4.0 million, other £0.3
million), the accounts show a pre tax loss of £9.4 million
for the year. Group Borrowings of £29.2 million have increased
from £28.0 million in 2006. This borrowing principally relates
to the securitised loan. It should also be noted that £24.0
million is not due for repayment for more than five years."
Robert
Earl says: "I am 56 and reside principally in America.
I have known Bill for a long time and always admired him and I
felt there was fantastic potential here. I understand everything
about the proposed ground move and all the work the Club has done
to explore the available locations and I felt that Bill was taking
the Club in the right direction.
I
have personally signed the guarantee to increase the overdraft
facility for the Club and I am active everyday contributing time
and effort to the people at the Club on things such as naming
right, shirts and generally marketing opportunities. There is
incredible potential here because of what is being done at the
Club and what is happening on the pitch. I
have every confidence in David Moyes and his work on the playing
side."
The
predictable heated debate centred on the proposed ground move
to Kirkby.
One
shareholder said: "The move would be the "death"
of Everton and you (pointing to Blue Bill) will be the man who
murdered the soul of the club."
Blue Bill answered:
"Leaving the beautiful old lady that is Goodison
will be akin to bidding farewell to a cherished family member,
but our future progress will be best served at a new home.
I
do listen to the fans, I don’t want to leave Goodison either.
But we have had no confirmation of the cost of the Scotland Road
site, and we have also been told that it is not big enough for
a 50,000 seater stadium. If the Kirkby project does not happen,
then the plan B will be to look again at Goodison Park. And I
suppose that the Scotland Road site would have to become a plan
C.”
Chris
Potts, Everton's planning consultant says:
“I believe the Scotland Road site is too small and will be a complicated
construction involving building over road. The cost of that, although
we have had no figures, will be hugely more than the Kirkby project.”
