The Blues' official charity has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards - and need your support to secure the honours.
Everton in the Community has been nominated for the 'Everyday Impact Award - Long Term Enterprises' at the DSC Social Change Awards, for their hugely successful work to improve the lives of diverse communities.
The charity's key aim is to use the power of Everton Football Club to motivate and inspire communities in our region through positive programmes that will make a lasting impact on their lives.
Along with providing sporting opportunities, Everton in the Community delivers health and wellbeing programmes, employment and education schemes and pioneering interventions with young people at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour.
The Social Change Awards, which will be held in London on 1st December, recognise those working to achieve a positive change in society and over 600 nominations have been narrowed down to just three finalists for each category.
Everton in the Community's Steve Johnson has also been shortlisted in the final three of the 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.
Since joining Everton in 2003, Steve has spearheaded the charity's disability sports programme, using his own experiences to inspire thousands of disabled people to pursue ambitious life goals.
He has established pioneering projects, both in the UK and abroad, to give disabled people the best possible opportunities to succeed in sport, education and employment.
Steve founded the North West Ability Counts Football League in 2003 and it is now the largest football league in the country for disabled adults. Due to its success, the FA has now rolled out the league across nine other regions across the country.
Everton in the Community have enjoyed much award success over the last twelve months, picking up their latest award at the North West Public Health Awards this month. The charity also scooped the 2010 Sports Industry Award for 'Best Community Programme', the 2010 North West Football Award for 'Best Community Scheme of the Year' and the 2010 Tony Adams Award for 'Positive Mental Health'.
