The next Captain of Everton Football Cub was James 'Jimmy' Settle.
Jimmy replaced Jack Taylor as Captain.
An instinctive striker, Jimmy was born in Millom, Cumberland in 1874.
Jimmy joined Everton in 1899 from Bury.
He captained Everton in the 1900-01 season when he was just 24 and went on to have a nine year association with Everton. He was the League's leading scorer in 1901-02 with 18 goals.
Jimmy won 6 England caps scoring 6 goals, including one hat-trick, against Ireland between 1899 and 1903, he also represented the Football League. He starred in the 1906 and 1907 FA Cup Finals.
Settle scored England's only goal in the match against Scotland April 1902 which was expunged from the records and replayed as a result of the Ibrox Disaster which occurred during the game. Settle's goal in this match is not included in his international record.
His goals per game ratio for Everton was better than one in three scoring 84 tomes in 237 appearances. Before moving on to Stockport County in 1908.
