Moyes Joins Kenwright

Following Blue Bill's recent interview, David Moyes has come out full tilt in support of his under-attack chairman.

It shows a united front as the team shape up to an opening game against promoted Queens Park Rangers Hoops from Shepherds Bush in London.

The Hoops were battered four-nil in their opening game but at least they've played to get nearer to match fitness than us. Moreover, they'll be annoyed at a pasting-and-a-half. On the other hand they might be sulking and apprehensive. Let's hope it's the latter.

Meanwhile, Moyesy makes it clear where he stands. He couldn't make it clearer unless he lit it up with floodlights and accompanying music.

Moyesy says: "We've got a really good chairman who does everything he possibly can to make the Club work and I hope that the supporters think they have a manager who is trying to make the Club better.

"The chairman has been saying 'sorry we don't have anything unless we trade' - and probably most of that money will go back to the banks, so let's not kid ourselves on.

"The chairman needs support and help and he certainly gets my backing because he's a great chairman. I can tell you loads of managers who are not enjoying working for their chairman in the Premier League.

"I do enjoy working for my chairman because he's a supporter, he's got the club at heart and he's desperate for me and the team to do well."

"I brought all the players here, I've got a responsibility to them, they are a really good group of players - their attitude, the way they go about their job. The one thing Everton will be is competitive in the Premier League."

"We've always had to trade and I don't think that's any different from what I've had before.

"We get really well supported by our bank (Barclays). I know the top people there and they are good people. Yes it's difficult at times but we get on with it.

" I've got a brilliant group of players, a really good team and if we could add to it we'd like to do so but so does every manager.

"Not everyone is going to be gifted with loads of money to spend and you have to be able to work without it. I think we do our best with what we've got.

"We're in this situation and we have to move on with it. Everton is a great club well supported and I would expect those supporters to do the same."

"As far as I'm concerned none of those players go unless David Moyes says so.

"We're not going to become a selling club. I'm not here to do that, I'm here to build a good team. I'm not in the business of coming into football management to sell my best players, I won't do that. But if I get an offer which is right I will and I'll never let Everton get into trouble.

"But at the moment no-one has made an offer that would come close to making me think about it (selling players). You only need to look at so many clubs throughout the country who have continuously changed their manager and in some cases changed their chairman nearly as often and they don't necessarily do any better.

"There's a few clubs over the years that have put themselves in real trouble by either the wrong owners coming in or a chairman getting rid of their managers when it was wrong to do so.

"We've got a stability and you mustn't take that for us getting stale and not trying to move on because there's nobody more determined or ambitious than myself to make it better."

It's all very well complaining now that we can't find a buyer, but had we achieved the move to Kirkby, financed by Tesco, we would have buyers queing up. You want to be careful of what you wish for !!

I like Moyes I really do, but he needs to show some respect and loyalty to the fans as much as he does to the chairman.

Kirkby was a once in a lifetime opportunity and juvenile publicity helped to blow it. If we had the stadium, we would attract investors.

Really am so dissapointed with the events of the last week. The taping of the Kenwright interview is a violation of privacy. The messages sent out from the club, while being true, are very depressing, and the performance on Saturday was full of endeavour but no organisation. Square pegs in round holes seems to be a common theme through all of it. With regards the game - I will always put my faith in Moyes and taking off Beckford for Felli wasn't a swap but preparing for Saha - so can understand it. But Beckford is not a one man strike force - neither is Saha to be fair - I would prefer a not bothered Yak up there than either of them - but I'm sure a tree's worth of stuff has been written about this. Whatever the answer is, I just hope Bill spends a little money in getting someone who can actually do their job off the pitch. Hopefully it will lead to a little more success and creativity on it. IMHO

Nobody can argue Moyes isn't loyal. A pity we can't say the same for some others.

I know its early days but the early evidence suggests that Moysey shut get ready to cut and run now, there`s only so much the poor man can take surely. He`s a quality manager, any football fan, not just Evertonians will tell you that, he must have aspirations for success, just like footballers have, and he certainly isn`t gonna achieve anything with the Toffees. The best thing for this club that is financially challenged to put it politely, would be to aim for the relegation spots this season and opt for the funding we`d receive due to the drop. Next step would be for Kenwright to do us all a favour and cut the strings from the club at long last, we need somebody to make the club look attractive to prospective buyers, I know there`s a saying, "You can`t polish a Turd" but Bill your time is up, you`ve tried and failed for years, step down treat yourself to a pint and one of Betty`s hot pots in the Rovers, stick to something that you`re supposedly good at. Rant Over.

Moyes is telling it as it is and towing the party line, but what concerns me is yes we know the clubs situation but what is the plan to get us out of this mess ? Nothing appears to be offered as to a solution ! It is obvious we cannot go on like this but no one seems to have a plan. Talking of plan, neither does Moyes from the shambles today against QPR, from the kick off we had square pegs in round holes, and it just got worse in the 2nd half with substitutions where nobody seemed to know what position they were meant to play bar the defence, no wonder Beckford looked pissed off when substituted, Moyes has to go, clueless bring back Joe Royle, at least he inspired.

When you are in business, the last thing any owner, MD, chairman, etc, should ever say is, “Our business is in poor shape”. Why? Well it’s the first thing that will turn off any potential investor! Bill Kenwright has up to now followed that principal, the last thing he has ever wanted to do is emphasise that Everton FC, at the explicit directive from its bank, cannot engage in any incoming trade without first raising funds by selling product, i.e. existing players. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the bank (Barclays) will be looking for Everton FC to maintain a viable business plan, which includes a structured payback on existing loans (both capital and interest). If the bank ever considers that Everton FC is no longer a “going-concern”, then without any hesitation it will call-in loans held, with administration being the only outcome. To be honest with actual business acumen, an incredible manager in David Moyes and a team that really knows how to play for each other and the fans; Everton FC has thus far maintained its top-ten status within the Premiership (allowing for a couple of seasons). I personally would hate to see Everton follow in the footsteps of Leeds, Nottingham Forest, both Sheffield sides, etc. Look at the dire situation Plymouth Argle are in, managed by Everton great Peter Reid, I’m sure he would be able to eloquently state the depressing and hopeless situation that accompanies fiscal mismanagement of a football team - wrecked by so-called Japanese investors who reneged on promises when England lost their world cup bid! The likes of Roman Abramovich at Chelsea, Thaksin Shinawatra and latterly Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Manchester City, The Glaziers at Manchester United; have all distorted English football! Other teams try to live with the outrageously unbalanced levels of investment, usually at extreme risk to their own long-term viability. Bill Kenwright has not succumbed to this, he has desperately tried to find bona-fide investors who can move Everton FC forward in all areas, i.e. team, ground, youth development, etc. I look forward to Everton FC entertaining Queens Park Rangers this afternoon, my full support behind David Moyes, the team and Bill Kenwright. For now my on-going focus will be on how well the team performs, letting Bill Kenwright and Robert Elstone work quietly behind the scenes to secure proper and impartial investment in Everton FC – I wish them well as it will be a thankless task selling a club with debt and a ground that is a little bit past its “sell-by date”. “Nil satis nisi optimum”, they all know it, I believe they are all trying to live up to it! “It always seems impossible until it’s done.“ - Nelson Mandela

I trust David Moyes completely and as for Bill Kenright, better the devil you know. Would it be possible to float the club and sell shares to supporters. This has been done at other clubs round the world and been quite successfull and I for one would be quite willing to buy a couple of hundred Quids of shares to help out this ONCE GREAT CLUB. Let's all get off Blue Bill's back, there is nothing to be gained in that except to split the fans we dont wont or need a Gillete or Hicks a Carson Yeung or some chicken farmers. Yes we would all like a Mansoour or an Abromvich but what we do have is a real fan for a chairman a great manager and a really good team so coyb and lets have a great season.

I've been pulled one way then the other this summer ! Full of hope, feeling frustrated, maybe we don't need to buy, we deffo need to buy, why the fuck don't we buy, sack the board, support Moyes, disbelief at "transcript", fury at "Blue Union" !! I've lay down tonight in a dark room with a wet towel over my head and contemplated what do we do ? The answer eventually came filtering through my twisted tormented head ! WE ARE EVERTON ! WE ARE EVERTON SUPPORTERS ! WE SUPPORT OUR TEAM WHATEVER WHENEVER ! Let's get behind this talented squad, let's make every home match a derby and let's see where that takes us ! COME ON YOU BLUE BOYS...... LETS FUCKING HAVE IT !!

I think what was done by the 3 men to Bill was despicable given our situation. It says a lot about Mr Kenwright and I genuinely feel for the bloke now. He is desparate to get our club into the right hands and how any arseholes could send shit in the post or send a wreath or death threats to a 65 year old man is beyond me? The sly act of recording an interveiw (when agreeing to not do it ) by the so called fans representatives may just galvanise us now . I just wish the rest of the board were a bit more proactive .One more thing and I'll be disappointed if BK do not apeal for this. There is an online petition for the full disclosure of the files on the Hillsborough tragedy, it takes a minute to do so please lets help . Here is a link to do this it is http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/2199 just needs 100k signatures to be heard in Commons

Everyone should get behind Bill Kenwright and David Moyes so far they have managed to keep our better players and hopefully they will perform like we know they can we could have a good season so let's do our bit and get right behind the manager the team and and especially Bill Kenwright he needs our support.

I'm not surprised Moyes is backing Kenwright I would as well if I was getting £3m a year wages I've been saying for a while now we are going backwards and to me it's a disgrace that a club like Everton should be run by complete twats like these. I also heard Moyse say we would be lucky to finish in the top ten this season so that's why we pay him £3m! What a joke.

I dont care if we dont sign any1 just aslong as we dont sell are stars. We have a excellent squad and are youth are some of the best in the league. If Arteta performs that will be like a new signing and Saha stays free from injury we can do something this season. And with the likes of Rodwell, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios all set to chip in im expecting a good season. COYB's...........

There is no guarantee that under new owners all our financial problems would be solved and in alot of cases they can become worse, ie Birmingham, Portsmouth, etc; at least Kenwright/Moyes always have the club close to there hearts

Moyes is a true legend and his last few sentences sum it up, we have a very good squad on paper and most importantly of all STABILITY. If we didn't have stability we would definitely be a selling club and not have a squad half as decent as we have now! The important thing for us all to remember is that this is the same squad as this time last years minus Pienaar and we tipped it for big things, so lets get off Blue Bill's back, get behind davie and the lads and thrash QPR tomorrow to sent the doom sayers home scratching their heads!!! David Moyes is right, although we don't have the mega bums that some of the other clubs have, we do have a chairman that really does care about the club, it is just unfortunate that when news like this needs telling, he seems to be the only one with balls to do it, unlike the rest of the board! Bill's comments the other day may have sounded same old same old, but to a point he's right. There is no point in borrowing to fund the purchase of players, especially if the club have no means of paying the money back, so as bad as it may sound, the club has to be run like any other business, and live within it's means until something better comes along. We can all bitch and moan about the job that Bill Kenwright does, but what about the rest of the board, where are they when these kind of questions get asked? Hmmmm, strange how non of them seem to want to stick there heads out during a duck shoot! And come to that, why don't these megabucks millionaires stick there hands in there pockets and fund at least one player? The club to these people is something just to show off as well as to wine and dine there chums, most probably for free! Alex Ferguson said we would achieve last season, we didn't, but given our poor start, we didn't do overly bad in the end run in. So to all the doom mongers and the doubters among us, Saturday is the start of our season, and rather than slate and slag what's bad with our club, let's get behind them and give them the support that they need, more so now than ever! I for one will be at Goodison on Saturday cheering the blue half of merseyside on, and if I were to see blue bill.....I'd pat him on the back, shake his hand and thank him....something that I would undoubtably be able to do with the rest of the Everton board! COYB's - In Moyes we trust!
