Cum on Feel The Moyes !

He's only been here 5 minutes, but David Moyes has instantly got the fans behind him. It's not that he can put a team out with fire in their belly, and actually win a game. Although it certainly helps. But he is a PR man's dream. Ian Ross & co will now concentrate on explaining the gaffs of the Club, as Moyesy seems well equip to handle himself. He got off to a flyer when he announced he had joined "The Peoples Club on Merseyside." He said that most of the Scousers are Evertonians. A fact that we already knew, but boy does it get up the redshites noses. But as the song goes "we don't care what....."

He pulled a masterstroke by naming Duncan Ferguson Captain for the day, explaining "I made Duncan captain because I felt we needed a rally cry, and it would inspire the crowd and Duncan himself, and I THINK IT DID." Too right it did! This season Dunc has been at best lethargic, and at worst not arsed. On Saturday, he was like the old Dunc, winning balls in the air. Nothing different in that, but he was finding his fellow striker. He was running his bollocks off. The word 'lazy' is one of the kind words used to describe him recently. Not on Saturday. He was also are best defender in the second half.

The relief when the final whistle went on Saturday, was a joy, which every fan felt. Moyesey felt it to. " I CAN SEE THE PASSION HERE, & THE DESPERATION. I FELT IT. I WAS AMONG THEM." It's only 3 points, but it's a long time since we've had a win to shout about. Since then he has had the players in for double training sessions. Training in the afternoon. The betting shops in Southport will be closing down. His detailed & honest accounts of the injured players are something we haven't seen for a long time. It's only early days. Indeed we far from out of this relegation fight, but this is upbeat, refreshing. Cum on feel the Moyes! (20/03/02)
