Transfer Targets

With nearly every Premiership team & his dog getting new players for the start of the season, Evertonians are getting a little anxious, as we have signed, erm nobody. Before you start, Joey Yobo doesn't count, as he was here last season. So anyone trying to say we have signed one player already deserves a punch in the nose. Don't try it on!

bluekipper.com believes that Li Tie will sign & become "our second" signing of the season. Again he doesn't count as he was here last season. The reason we think the deal will be done, is that there is no way Davie Moyes would have played him in all the pre season friendlies so far. Especially when you have plenty of options in the midfield, granted most aren't good enough but that's another story. We are sure he's not just getting Li Tie fit so that he can do one back to China when the season starts.

We also think that Everton will make 2 or maybe 3 signings before the season starts. We say this for many reasons. We have thought Everton would not make any signings until after the 1st of August, 2003. We are in such a tight financial situation that every penny counts. If we would have signed a new player in May, then we would have already paid him 3 months wages. A player on say £15,000 a week would have cost £45,000 already. Three players signed would have cost £540,000* in total. Not a great sum you would think. But this is Everton. To ram that point home. Last season, Everton flew the kit & other essentials by plane to their training headquarters in Austria. This season it would have cost around £8,000. So Everton hired a Transit van & got the kit man to drive it there. Money to tight to mention.

We think that one of the midfield players, who has been mentioned on this site, & all over the web will sign before the season starts. We also think Moyesy will sign an overseas player. Then their may be a third, but who it is if anyone we haven't got a clue. The other main factor is Bill Kenwright is back from holiday next week, & Blue Bill likes to be at the news conferences when the transfers take place. As they keep saying. Trust Us. (01/08/03)
