We had a situation recently, where Thomas Gravesen scores the goal of the season for Denmark: one of two he scored in that game on the Saturday. No report about an injury. Then shock horror. Gravesen is injured. We find out on Thursday. 6 full days after the game. Why doesn't the club tell the fans? This is just the latest in a series of boobs by the club. Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen Everton Football Club banning The Echo from the training ground. This tit for tat effort ended in The Echo running a report wanting to know where the transfer money for Ball & Jeffers went, which according to their Sports Editor "was accurate and comprehensive". They both need each other. So it shouldn't come to this. It may come to a shock to the club, but a lot of the fans are responsible people, who are married with kids. The same kids the club want as their future fans. These same fans hold down jobs, pay mortgages, get divorced, have members of their families die. So telling them that a player isn't fit for Saturday, or that we have only had £2m out of the £10m we should have from a transfer, is no big deal. We can handle the truth. It's being left in the dark that we can't handle. We are not that naive to think that we should know everything about players wages, & other confidential information. But when the club withholds info it ends up with rumours spreading around the place, & fans making up their own stories. Managers & officials then start having to explain themselves, when it all could have been avoided. Just let the fans know what's going on. (16/10/01) What do you think? e-mail Blue Kipper |
