Comment Everton Snub Wilson's Medal Blue Kipper have been informed by Everton Football Club, that they won't be bidding for Ray Wilson's World Cup Winner's Medal. We think this is wrong. The medal won in 1966 by an Evertonian is unique. Ray is the only Everton player to win this medal. These days we will hard pushed to see an Everton player make an England squad, never mind win a medal. So we urge all Evertonians to write, e-mail, or fax Everton Football Club asking them to reconsider their decision, & buy Ray's medal, & to put it pride of place in the Goodison Trophy Room, rather than hidden away in someone's private collection. So it can be seen by our kids for years to come. The auction is at Christie's in London on 27th March 2002. So there is not much time. Christie's reckon Ray's medal will net up to £90,000. So that would be just 3 weeks wages, from the Everton Captain. Call Y'self an Evertonian? Below is a 'Draft Letter', which you can copy & paste, & send it to Everton, or any interested parties. Please amend it to suit the person you are sending it to. Draft

Dear Bill, I write concerning the pending auction of Ray Wilson's 1966 World Cup winner's medal. I urge you to buy it for proud display by our club. You saw him as a young fan so you will know what a great player he was and how much he was admired by all Evertonians. It would be a great shame if we were to lose this opportunity to reinforce the magical history of our club as we are about to celebrate one hundred years of membership of the highest division in the land. I feel it is always important for younger fans to be aware of our history so they can feel the same pride we all do in being Evertonians. Buying the medal would be a great help in promoting our club's part in an unforgettable national event. Once bought, it could be displayed in our brand new stadium at Kings Dock along with the Dixie Dean medal and all the other memorabilia which records our great history. I urge you passionately to make every attempt to buy the medal and bring it back to Merseyside where it belongs. You will earn the undying gratitude of all Evertonians if you achieve this goal. Yours Sincerely, ............ e-mails can be sent to: Everton
