Everton's Football in the Community programme is regarded as the best in the country.

Sports Minister Knocked Out By Visit To EFITC

Richard Cayborn Joins In

The Sports Minister, Richard Cayborn visited Everton Football in the Community recently to see the disability coaching programme. He said he was particularly interested in seeing how it works and why it works as he had heard so many good things about it. After taking part in the session with the children and young people and meeting the coaches who deliver the programme.

Richard Cayborn Meets EFITC

The Sports Minister, Richard Cayborn says: "I feel it is the best disability programme in the country. With over 100 participants and 8 competitive teams, it is a tremendous achievement for Everton and Football in the Community. I certainly didn't realise the extent to which this scheme, that is supported by the Football Foundation, was out-reaching into the community. With help and support from the FA and the Football Foundation there are now Everton coaches who can go out into the schools and touch people's lives. It is something we can all be proud of here. Everton have developed a model here that can be used throughout the game. We see bad press about football from time to time and that annoys me. But there is room for good press when you see some of the things clubs like Everton are doing." (22/09/05)
