A specially commissioned Bronze Statue of Dixie Dean was unveiled today, (4th May 2001) at the Park End of Goodison Park. The statue was erected at the Park End, because this was the end, where Dixie scored his 60th League goal on 5th May 1928, a record which will never be broken. Bill Kenwright made one of his typically brilliant theatrical speeches, detailing Dixie's career. The ceremony was performed by Dixie's son, also named William Ralph Dean, but known as Geoff. His own speech was just a sentence long. He told the hundreds of Everton supporters that ' he was just as good a father, as he was a footballer.' Geoff then cut the ribbon, & to great applause a 10 foot bronze statue of Dixie, was there for us all to see. Blue Kipper were there to record the special occasion with these EXCLUSIVE Photographs.
