This Inaugural dinner was a great success. It gave the fans access to the players. Alan Stubbs, Davie Weir, Richard Wright, Gary Naysmith, James Beattie, Lee Carsley, Kevin Kilbane, Tim Cahill, Steve Watson, James McFadden, joined Manager Davie Moyes and coach Jimmy Lunsden for the night. The good thing about it was they stayed the distance instead of staying for the usual 10 minutes. They were happy to give autographs and have photographs with the fans. Mark Rowan deserves a pat on the back for organising it. Derek Hatton was the MC for the night. Whatever you think of him, he's an Evertonian and good with the mike. He introduced Keith Wyness, Everton's chief executive, who said grace with a little help from Rabbi Burns. You got the impression that the idea of the dinner came from the C.E.O.

Moyesy took part in a question and answer session with Davie Weir and Stubbsey. Moyesy said the right things as usual. He reiterated what he has said most of the season, that the success has been a team thing. He said: " The players have pulled together and have this great team spirit. But you (pointing to the fans) have a job to do. To help us stay in the position we are. We need your support more than ever. We know you will give it to us."
