Birchy. Where's The Money?

Evertonians are optimists...tell you what though, I'm concerned.....

I was looking at sides like Muddlesboro' & Birmingham - comparatively shite when you briefly consider their history and accomplishments. Having said that, we don't live in the past though do we ? They boast players like Mendieta, Zenden, Hasslebaink, Rieziger, Viduka and by virtue of their first ever trophy in 128 years they're in Europe. Birmingham have the likes of Dunn, Melchiot, Gronkjaer and Forssell (although on loan), I'm not a big fan of Lilly but he'd have improved our midfield. They could even afford to squander $6m on Emile Heskey !!

The point being, we've got Wayne and that is fucking it.

Trevor Birch, get your lazy arse off your ill-timed holidays and sort Moyesy out with at least some cash NOW. Gronkjaer; only 2m? Jim Bromwell. (16/07/04)

Embarrassing

Do all Evertonians feel as bad as I do at the moment. Had to really thing about renewing my Season Ticket and like many others couldn't bear not to. Yet the club continue to be embarrassed by either players wishing to leave (radz, Tommy Grav etc.) or players we are linked with going elsewhere such as Sean Davis (Spurs) and Cahill (Almost Palace) and now even gay boy Savage would rather in Birmingham.

It is getting beyond a Joke and now Moyes is linked with Leaving due to his frustrations over the same things SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE QUICKLY. Martin Gee. (16/07/04)

How A Young Fan Sees It

I can't believe how badly the fans of our once great club are being lied to.One minute we have 7m for smith then we have £100.000 thousand for Paul Dikov.

I think Wayne was right to ask to see the financial side of things because the real plight of our club is in the hands of a certain Mr Birch. What happened last time Leeds went down. Mr Kenwright is a blue we know this but his money is not there.Paul Gregg sickens me, to be a fan of this club with him in the high ground it saddens me to say this but this is the year we go down !

With people like Radzinski actually speaking out it leads me to believe that moyes might have lost the dressing room and it hurts to say it but to be realistic we need to sell Wayne to get this club back on its feet and not on its knees.

if we can avoid relegation and we stick to the ground sharing plan then we can rebuild. We need new investment we need to attract more youth and we need to sell the players who are dead wood and don't want to work under moyes and Irvine. They are no use to us we as a club in 10 years have had no silver where except the cutlery in the canteen.

David Moyes regime is obviously hard and brash and these players are not used to discipline because they were spoon fed under the Smith Era. His plan for the over 30s pleased me and i feel Osman needs a chance as well as Mcfadden.

If We are not 7th from bottom and 5 points clear from the obvious relegation cannon fodder by Christmas the David Moyes " peoples Club " slogan could be a lasting memory of what was a fantastic dream.

from Aaron Evans. Everton Under 16 pan Disability Squad Captain. (16/07/04)

Here we go again

Here we go again, just when we thought that we might just have turned the corner, guess what, we start sliding again. Surely the board must let go of some cash so that we can get the team we all deserve, and get amongst the big boys. Barmy Fred. (16/07/04)

The State We're In

I've always been a passive observer of the debates about the ups and downs (mainly the latter) or our beloved club but the events of the last 12 months have driven me to comment.

Whatever the mistakes of the management team in the last year, they deserve our wholehearted support and gratitude for their commitment and honest endeavour. I had the privilege of interviewing David Moyes as part of a leadership event last year and whilst under whelmed by his answers about how he could turn the club around, there was no doubting his values, honesty and desire. He hasn't been helped in his efforts by the actions of the Board.

I don't pretend to be a football business expert. I do claim to have some understanding of management and leadership, however, as chief executive of a large organisation. I had expected, from his pedigree, that Trevor Birch would quickly establish his influence and ensure the club was viewed as credible, ambitious and forward thinking. Instead, since Trevor's arrival we have seen our star man refusing to commit himself to the club and other 'high profile' players publicly criticising the state of the club and its prospects. Furthermore, our attempts to bring in new personnel are derided as unethical and risible by the likes of Birmingham City. Can I just repeat that: Birmingham City are scoffing at our attempts to lure a player who is considered peripheral to their plans to improve their performance.

What has never been explained, to my knowledge, is how a club with an average gate of close to 40K (aren't we still about 6th best supported side in Premiership) continues to be in debt to extent we are losing out to Bolton, Middlesboro, Brum, etc etc. In addition, we have no new ground or training facilities to finance and (I think this right) have spent less in last 5 years on new players than any other Premiership side. Whilst other 'big teams' like Leeds have worst debts, the reasons for this are well known. Even if my interpretations are not 100% accurate, there is no apparent explanation for our financial plight other than poor management on a significant scale.

Where does this leave us? Frustrated, bewildered and pessimistic as we scrabble around in the bargain basement trying to attract, in the main, players who are not targets for anyone predicted to finish above 16th in the Premiership. All we can offer that is positive is huge support, a glorious history, a passionate management team, and the prospect of teaming up with the hottest property in European football. But until (unless) Wayne commits, I fear we'll be struggling to attract the personnel necessary to keep us in the Premiership.

Still, thanks to Dr Brian MacWhinney, if we should go down we'll be playing in The Championship next season. Now that doesn't sound too bad. Does it? Felix Rock. (16/07/04)

26 YEARS BUT NOT THIS YEAR

Again you are my ray of light. After 26 years of almost unbroken season ticket ownership it sadly comes to an end. Two reasons the costs ( but that's an excuse) The real reason is the endless explanation to my youngest son on why EFC are team, the gear, the only one. Why our home vocal support is at an all time low. Why the greatest ever Everton team cant play anymore but its alright lad we'll be back. Now I think of the future and Preston North End / Huddersfield Town, once great clubs now a relic of their former glory they where.

So best wishes next season I shall rejoin the choir of ST Domingo's in a few years when the brain washing of my kids is complete and they then wont mind watching shite week in week out and the phrase Man U are raise on Blood money, The Shite stole our Moore's money oh get behind me satin are in doctored in their brains.

I like to wish the Rad good luck and hope he has a gas leek next time he goes home and turns the light on. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

I am also in complete agreement with the guy who has branded it childish to call the other lot the redshite c'mon lads its Redshite with a capital R don't take the piss. Any hooose moving on we all have to agree that at Everton we do get value for money. Were shit but what do you expect for 2 bob and an orange. Garlic bread its the future. Blue Larney. (16/07/04)

Squad Size

I've read recently a large number of people bemoaning the size of the Everton squad. At last count (no doubt we've got players going out of that Goodison revolving door as I type this) we have a side of 24 players, which I don't necessarily see much wrong with. That means the number, not the personnel. Most of the players we've lost (Unsy aside) are, ahem, shite, and never really got a sniff into the first 11 anyway, so there's no great loss there, is there? Added to that, "SuperBoss" Mourinho has (as though his word is law) - amongst other "top coaches" - decided that 24 is the ideal squad size. I'm not fretting at the preening process that's going on at Goodison, hell, I've patted them on their backs (those that have left) and told them not to let the door hit their arses on the way out. I don't see any reason to worry about the size of our squad. El Ramirez. (16/07/04)

Shit Shit an more Shit

At the Bolton game last season I was pissed off, but still expected to re-new my season ticket in the street end. Not any fuckin more!! A stupid bid for Alan Smith, when all of us knew we never had a chance of getting him, a week before re-newal deadline didn't fool anybody. The the cheeky bastard board come out and tell us to renew because there selling outta season tickets, whatever. The gobshites certainly can't boss around the fans, who have put up with shite for far too long. "Blue Bill" as you like to call him, personally I call him a wanker but anyway, says in the echo were gettin at least the 5.5m we got last year. The knob shot himself in the foot there coz when faddy, kilbane, martyn an ears came in for like £20. The board tried to palm us off with "we've spent near 7m coz we signed yobo an li tie permanently". So where's £7m bill?!?!

Davis fucks us off for Spurs, Carlton Cole goes to Villa. Even Dickov fucked us off for blackburn!! I've just heard Savage is staying at brum, who can blame him? They've got fuckin more ambition than us. The type of bid itself took the piss. It was as if the board expected us to go down by the sound of it. Which deep down we all expect us to do. Fat Stubbs says the stick is unfair! Fuck off, your shite anyway an all us fans could see the players didn't give a fuck. Radz has got a cheek as well. Poor bugger, thousands of £s a week to "run his arse off for the club". His fuck ups cost us points more than anybody else! All this moaning without a mention of Wayne. I'm not gonna bother either. Everything else is fucked up. We all know what'll happen if he goes. I love them but they ain't getting my £310 for a season ticket! Hammy. (16/07/04)

MBE - Stubbs

Mate, you got it in one the only problem i see is that the player's concerned CANNOT do it for Everton even if they wanted to. These guy's ,all signed by Walter{the agent's ATM} were, apart from Radz, bloody useless when they signed .Watson has said he has never been citizied for his professionalism,he hasn't got any. Campbell say's "all the player's were MIFFED at the way the season went", Jesus what does it take to get these lazy bastard's upset. I cannot wait for the end of next season, shame isn't it,so i can see all these no good wanker's gone.My one wish is that Moyes has it in him to keep us up,i for one will deem that a great success. Reg Gates. (16/07/04)

Shitski

I'm sorry Alan Mill but in your e-mail you said radzinski was scoring goals for fun. Could you please tell me when this was as the season before last was his best ever goals return in any one season and I think he scored 12 hardly great for a forward who thinks he's better than he is. So he deserves all the SHIT he gets. JOHN (16/07/04)

The Stats have it.

One important fact with regards to the two players you haven't mentioned is Bent is four years younger than Radzinski, although we could lose a bomb on the shirts(most fans wouldn't want Bent on the back of them will they!!) Derek D Sullivan. (16/07/04)

The Duke's Tattoo

Even the advice that Wayne Rooney received regarding his Tattoo is awful.

This time last year i went to get my Everton Tattoo and was advised that any sort of HOT weather for up to 10 weeks after having it done would most certainly damage the piece of art and cause the Tattoo to fade, I was also advised that Chlorine and salt water odes not do it good and can have the same effect.

Because of this i had the Tattoo done in Feb. 2004 and now wear it and show it with pride.

Wayne then gets his Tattoo and Jets off to Barbados ...... Stretford your a tosser and mr birch??I'm not impressed why don't you piss off and wreck some other club

Wayne Please stay and play for us lad leave us when we've won a few trophies and have a stable club and if you do leave go to spain. SGWhelan. (16/07/04)
