The Way Forward

It seems to me whilst we can be the most loyal supporters in the country, given how bad our club as performed over the last few years (bar Moysey's 1st full season), we can also be the most fickle.
A few points:
1) I'm bored with Rooney - if he doesn't want to stay then sell him now - give him 48 hrs to decide then tell him he's going to the highest bidder.
2) The fickle bit - Kenwright seems to be getting a right slagging off at the moment - why? because he aint got the cash. Where is his cash? Answer - in EFC.
Kenwright has put almost every penny he has into Everton Football Club - not a lot in rich man's terms but in the real world all he has.
Remember agent Johnson Big Bucks - No Passion - Big Business Man - Failure as a chairman in footballs top league.
Remember Lord Granchester - could afford to go for a pint with Abramovich - wouldn't give his beloved EFC a sausage.
Same goes for Lady Granchester.

The only way forward for us is youth mixed with a bit of experience, money will help a little (maybe a lot) but it won't be the quick fix we're all demanding from Kenwright.
Dave Moyes seems to be picking up the odd young player here & there - things could look good in 4 or 5 years time if we can stay in the top flight.

If the players who finished last season played with half the passion Kenwright (and Moyse) has for our club we would have finished in the top half of the table maybe even a bit higher.
If we hound Kenwright out now we could end up with another agent Johnson in charge, someone who will put their money in at first but when things go wrong snatch it back and do one.
We need the investment everyone is screaming for but we also need Kenwright at the forefront, he for one believes in "once a blue - always a blue". Dave M (27/07/04)

I Agree

I totally agree with the idea of the fans taking some sort of control of our destiny by pledging their own hard earned cash to Moyesy in order to buy at least one decent quality player. I know that this would be very difficult to administer but so long as we could be sure the money would be given to Moyesy and not wasted then I pledge £1K

I know that someone has suggested £100.00 per fan but you have to understand that not all fans can afford it. As far as I am concerned someone who can only afford £25.00 and is prepared to give it, is showing just as much commitment and loyalty to our great club than someone who can afford more. I am in the fortunate position of being able to afford more so with the £1K pledged by John Foster we have a decent start

Come you all you blue noses think about it, it is not such a daft idea, lets show Kenwright, Gregg etc that if all they want to do is sit about and squabble, there are real fans who will get off there arse and do something more positive

Never forget Evertonian’s are blessed at birth we are not manufactured Kevin Cliffe. (27/07/04)

We Shall Not Be Moved

Everton supporters have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are the club's greatest asset. The emails to the site have become more positive by the day and even David Blunkett and Blind Pugh together could see that this club will always bounce back from adversity. So we're in shit street - we can either moan our way to oblivion or get behind the club as we always do and show all concerned what our club means to us. And we are showing what the club means to us. The players, well, with a few noble exceptions, don't care and therefore don't count, they wouldn't care whose badge they kissed as long as they got paid their inflated wages. If only we all got paid way beyond our abilities. What do the likes of the Radzinski matter in the great scheme of Everton? If they don't care, then fuck off. Dead easy. Forget them, they we're never Blues. They don't have our class. No lads, it's all about us, the fans.

At the risk of asking for trouble with the following statement, whether Paul Gregg or Blue Bill wins the Battle of the Main Stand is really irrelevant to us fans. Why? Because as fans we've got no choice in the matter whether we like it or not. Is any true fan going to turn their back on the club because they don't agree with who's in charge? Of course not. Everton is a drug to us, as addictive as any you care to name, and like any addict we're not too fussy where we get it from. So the stark reality is that if Kenwright ("Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be John Moores") has the confidence of the board (ie Jon Woods) then we have to be 100% there - and if Gregg shades it, then we're behind him. What choice do we have? We don't want a club at war with itself. As that evil cow Thatcher was fond of saying, "There is no alternative."

As usual Evertonians stand up to be counted at times like this. Our emails have shown that we'll stay defiant and positive, supporting our club whatever they do. We're Bluenoses and fucking proud of it and will be till our dying day. Stay proud, lads, and remember we are the chosen ones. Keep your nerve and keep the faith, whatever happens - it's about us the fans when it comes down to it. You're a class act, fellow Blues. AND WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED. Kevin Latham (27/07/04)

Research

I've been doing a bit of research today about our board members and I've come to the following conclusion.

Blue Blue has EFC at his heart! Granted, if he loves the club so much then why doesn't he find a backer. I know it may not be so easy, but we have been in this position for a long time. Why did we wait until Rooney went to Euro 2004 to secure his future? Surely no-one was expecting him to take the tournament by storm, but they must have wondered what would happen if they did. Were they always resigned to losing him to bring much needed revenue into the club? And if they were, what was, or maybe still is the plan if he goes? Too many questions are unanswered for my liking. The longer the Rooney saga goes on, the more i think he is thinking of leaving! Also, if Earnshaw is on his way like a couple of people are mentioning on here, then surely that must spell the end for The Duke's EFC career. We need defenders and midfielders, first and foremost. Anyone can try to be an attacker. It's easier to score goals from any source than it is to keep a clean sheet! So if the Cardiff striker decides he wants to join, then surely that means Rooney is leaving, opening the door to the inevitable. Yobo will leave soon, citing the clubs lack of ambition and Moyes will then be forced to consider his position, because he will find it very difficult to attract players to a club that have just sold the ENGLAND NUMBER 9. You remember the last time that happened? Its just a vicious circle! It would destroy the club and I daren't comment on where that would leave us! Up a certain stretch of water without a necessary implement!

In my opinion though, I think the signs are there that Wayne has been told by his agent that Man Ure are holding out for a bid in January, like the sneaky twats always do! They get the man they want on the cheap. WE own Wayne, not Stretford, Not Pro-Active, not Sir Arl-Arse, EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB. We have always surrendered to gobshites in the past. It seems as if we don't tell the players we want them. We got Nigel Martyn 7 years too late, OUR FAULT. We made too many managerial mistakes, employing Mike Walker for a start; giving Walter Smith £25m.

Do us a favour Mr Gregg and Mr Kenwright, make a decision, get it right and make sure there's a contingency plan or nine! Get the money together, you both threaten to find and let the players create the headlines on the pitch. Don't do your dirty laundry in public, thats why there are four walls surrounding a room. Keep it private until your deals are done! Yes, we want to read about optimism, but only when its obtainable, not a long-term plan. We need short-term, or there will be no long-term!

NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM Keep your heads up Blues! Paul Dargan (27/07/04)

I Here Pledge..............

I have read with interest the e-mails suggesting the fans club together for the club.
I think it is time for action. Therefore I pledge £1000 for Davey Moyes. All I ask is that others make similar pledges for our great club. It does not have to be a grand it can be more or less than that but lets do something for this club.

If we the fans say we own the club lets prove it. I have already purchased two season tickets for me and my son which is already an investment in the club. However the plight of our club has gone beyond debate its time for action.

Lets not sit around any longer waiting for others to put money in lets do it ourselves. John Foster (26/07/04)

The Sum Is Greater Than Its Parts

Everton Football Club = 1.Its Franchise in the Premiership 2. Its Ground 3. Its Fan Base 35000? per week 4. Its Marketability, History, Tradition etc 5. Its board of directors 6. Its balance sheet (debts) 7. and Its players (one of whom is worth a considerable sum of money).
Question - Is 7 more important than 1,2,3 & 4. In my opinion the answer is No.
Question - Would 1,2,3 & 4 be attractive to a potential owner (lets call him Mr X) if he could replace 5 and fix 6 by selling part of 7. In my opinion the answer is yes.
Where are you Mr. X?
Everton was great under John Moores Stewardship - even thought the fans thought he was a rotten sod. We soon forgot about that when we had something to cheer about. 68000 at Goodison to see us playing Inter Milan.
Bring it on!!!!!
Afterthought - I think being an Evertonian is a genetic condition - there must be a blue gene or something. 33 years later and 12000 miles away still call myself an Evertonian. Laurie Hartley. (26/07/04)

Broken Heart

Well how do I start ? This is painful. I’ve watched and supported my team since I was 7. (52 now!). I remember going in the boy’s pen and “climbing over”. Standing in the Gwladys Street when we beat the shite 1-0 (Bally scored and Shanks said: "It was a travesty.” Boys were boys then and men were footballers. It was a joy to watch my team and my mum was so proud that I was an Evertonian (blame me grandad !) that she would watch and wave as I left the house then be waiting when I got home.

If we got beat she would say “never mind lad at least they tried.” Oh how those words have come back to haunt me!

I was so proud when I took my son to his first game, carrying on with the family tradition and thinking “this is all yours son”. The pride, the passion, the HONOUR, the good times, the bad times, the laughs, the arguments, the pain Oh! particularly the pain !

I thought the Gordon Lee times were bad but last season we sank to the depths.

I remember asking my lad where he would like to sit next season when we would renew the season tickets. What was his reply ? “I don’t want go Dad ‘cos they are so bad. They don’t even try”.

I said “OK son” but oh how it broke my heart. Beforehand I thought that I would have gone ahead and bought the season tickets anyway but this time I didn’t and you know why ? me mums words “never mind lad at least they tried”. Decision made, hearts broken but that’s what Everton do, break hearts!

So here I sit. A disloyal supporter some would say but at least I tried for the last 45 years. More than I can say for certain players.

At least Moyes and Kenwright are trying but for how long ? Will they give up? Probably, but not until they have to like I have.

I don’t know the answers but all I know is “Everton. You break my heart”.

I know the players visit the Site so please take this in and listen to me mum ! Finbar (26/07/04)

Can't Wait

I can't wait till that little SQUARED FACED, SHORT ARSE PRICK (RADZINSKI) comes to GOODISON to play against the BLUES,Im off to some fresh air as thinking about that little IT! makes me SICK. BLUENOSE BIMBO (25/07/04)

Phoney Bill

I'm afraid Bill "Man of the People" Kenwright has had a long time in which to get investment into the club. The man is a charlatan and poseur, he is not a passionate Evertonian, but a self-serving egotist who has helped to destroy our Great Club.I met him years ago at a B.B.C. party and we spent some time discussing our mutual passion(way before he joined the board)and my feeling then was he was a phoney, nothing that has happened since has changed my mind. Gregg may not "care", but he's shown some business acumen. Rick Tarleton (25/07/04)

In Response

I don't usually feel the need to respond to emails posted up as in my own odd way I prefer the solitude of dealing with my thoughts by myself, but I really was impressed with Tony's view - so refreshingly rare that someone goes the extra yard and comes up with a positive suggestion (almost put solution - chance would be a fine thing)as to how to react to our difficult circumstances. The fact of the matter that was summated so well is that we are all in the same boat - we all go to our dads and share the difficulties and we all feel like were going through a very painful and slow torture with no visible ending in sight. But it is all about the club, not the players or the suits, the love of the club over the mercs in the team .A goal for us is a goal for everton, it counts for far more than an individuals selfish glory - which is a truism the players just don't get. The days of sport being a metaphor for the greatness of man are ancient history - one of the reasons I feel upset with Wayne is that I allowed myself to think he was different - that he wasn't too bothered about the side show of the media, tattoos, cars and newspaper exclusives, and he just liked playing for Everton. Of course it seems this is now wrong and £50k a week isn't enough. So I think he should find someone who will give him more and let us get on with supporting what we know is important. The fact of the matter is Everton come first and he doesn't come close to eclipsing it - how could he or anyone?

Of course my naivety re Wayne was found out but that's my own fault for being a hopeless optimist - both my crime and my punishment, but what are the alternatives? Support the shite? Christ id rather eat pureed dogshit. Football is a great leveller of men and people talking of relegation before a ball is kicked is throwing in the towel too early - Goodison can be an absolute furnace when we get behind them - remember Wimbledon 1994? Id never known atmosphere like it - I get that tingly thing just thinking about it now. Moyes got the best out of a poor team a few seasons back and if we can drive and motivate them half as much as he did then I we can give anyone a game - industry is not a substitute for class but the best team doesn't always win the match - a lesson hard learnt in most cases. Zac Levy (25/07/04)

Our Responsibility

OK, so things are not good at the school of excellence, and instead of looking forward with anticipation to the imminent start to the season, most of us would admit to an uneasy feeling of trepidation and a fair degree of concern. Of course we still do not know whether or not the Duke will be gracing an Everton shirt next year and for many that is but another kick in the blue belly of Everton. What Wayne wants, is probably not even a factor, the cancerous tentacles of his parasitic management team are well and truly wrapped around the lad and won't be letting go until the windfall that is Rooney is reaped. That this can happen at all is a disgrace in itself, that we cannot prevent it is a tragedy.

Whilst we are sadly unable to do anything about the sale of our Wayne, should it transpire. We can do plenty about the rest of our season. WE, that wonderful collective of Evertonians, so proud and so passionate, can get RIGHT behind the boys from the off. Plenty of us have such a body for not putting in 100%,so what about US?? we have an important role to play too, I can't speak for everyone, but I can honestly say in retrospect I didn't give my 100% last season from the terrace, I didn't scream my bloody lungs out until fit to burst at every opportunity, I didn't back the lads 100% last year, so yes, I admit, I probably did let the team down, sure, nobody would ever know, BUT... if another 10 thousand were like me then it WOULD make a difference, just imagine in 10,000 toffee's gave another 10% to their screaming and singing in support, the boy's WILL notice it WILL lift them and it WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE, so we ALL have a responsibility this year. Let us stop wallowing in this mire that has been created and proliferated by non-Evertonians, they DON'T matter. WE matter, Let us start something here, what is to stop us??.

We have to show now more than ever that we are BEHIND the team, that Moyesy's army can RELY on the terraces more so than ever and that we CAN and WILL influence games. Now I 'll just climb down off my (BLUE) soap box, thank-you for taking the trouble to read this, hopefully it hits a chord somewhere with enough nutters like myself to start something.

LOUD AND PROUD, BLUE AND TRUE, THE GOODISON CREW IS HERE FOR YOU.

COME ON YOU BLUES - Kris Everton (25/07/04)

Taking Shape

Wright/Martyn, Pisto,Nace,Yobo,Stubbsie,Osman,Cahill,Tommy Grav/van Bommel, Killer,The Roondog, The Big Yin/Faddy

The big gapping hole being at centre back where Stubbsie has shown himself to be just not good enough anymore. The rest of the eleven isn't so bad Cahill, Osman and van Bommel (if he comes) should improve our midfield vastly and if the big yin can stay fit (i know how many pre-seasons do we say that), well one can dream.

Big question.what happens when we pick up our share of injuries????? I don't even want to think about our Wayne leaving. Let's get behind the boys and get behind the manager. I've seen a lot worse starting elevens for Everton over the last 20 years sorry last 10 years and you never know ???

After the last month or so i've decided to try and be a little more optimistic. Anyone else?? Graham Johnston (25/07/04)

Key Factor

At the current state of affairs within the goodison camp, and all of the media attention surrounding Rooney, the Board and the 'shit-house' Rad. I was surprised to see an email concerning the circumstances of Tommy Grav (Anon, 21/07/04). Although the boards decision on monday afternoon is vitally important for the future of Everton Football Club, the mentality of Gravesen is the key factor of our SURVIVAL in the premiership next season. And lets not fuck about, we are in shit. Although i do have high hopes for Marcus Bent, another great low-budget signing by Moyes, just wait and see.

It was apparent during Euro 04 that yet another Everton player was playing out of his skin for his country rather than his club (although none so much as Linderoth, who i watched closely last season and thought his movement on-and-off the ball was shocking) led to Tommy's agent getting a bit excited and linking him to a move away from goodison after his contract runs out this season.

Anyone who has been to watch any game during the past two seasons has had an earful of some arl' fella within a fifty-seat radius giving a very public bollocking to the shiny-headed one regarding his inconsistency. And rightly so. He can be shit......But, he can be great. In my eyes this cannot be down an inconsistent style of play alone. His temperament is his downfall, if he is not visibly up for a game then we're in for a struggle.

Because this is his last season, by no-means does it suggest he is going to have a good season just to attract other clubs (Just look at the Rad, he has made his mind up a long time ago that this would be his season to leave, hence an Everton-bashing to guarantee an early exit). This could be the worst season for Thomas Gravesen in a Everton shirt as he will have no more fight in him.

Other clubs have shown interest and pay day is only a season away for Tommy, the embarrassing bid for Robby Savage will come back to haunt us. Nil satis Nisi Optimum, win, lose or draw ..... Dave F (25/07/04)

Great News At Last

It has been a bad few weeks being an Evertonian. Great news at last. That bollocks Radzinski is gone. Never again to wear our sacred shirt. Looking forward to November 20th when he arrives at Goodison with his fellow world beaters. Little prick will probally be on the bench. Still, he can now practice his shooting by trying to hit Big Ben. I wouldn't hold my breath. Everdec (25/07/04)

Keep The Faith

Right, that’s it! Get the banners ready….`Once a Manc, Always a Manc’, with correct punctuation, of course. Sing-songs on the team bus..`if you all hate Scousers…., in your Liverpool slums…’
What a waste.
Mind you, on a more serious or, even sinister note..does Stretford have any idea of the depths of feeling against him? Perhaps, like Wayne will have to, he lives in his own ivory tower, isolated from the riff-raff.., `have you met the Poor?, oh, charming people.’
I suppose neither of them will want to visit our locality again, unless disguised as nuns or wrapped in a very professional team of minders.

I wonder what kind of reception Wayne will get on his return. Some of our pre-Sky fans may remember:

Old Boys’ Reception A
Bally getting mobbed and the roar when he scored for Arsenal
Wee Duncan’s goal for Chelsea getting the biggest cheer of the match
Jimmy Gabriel breaking down like Walter the Softy when you couldn’t see his Saints shirt for blue and white scarves

And, for our younger viewers:

Old Boys Reception B
McMahon getting the worst, most solid dog’s abuse I’ve ever heard, every time
Jeffers looking white as a sheet (quick spell check), quaking on the touchline as he listened to `his’ song before coming on as sub the game what’s-his-name scored; see forgetting him already

My personal preference would be towards Type B, but then again, once a bitter and twisted Evertonian, etc. Keep the Faith Phil deFluter (24/07/04)
