Where are The New Signings? Once again Everton seem to have missed the boat - no new players registered even with the money from Rooney. What a fiasco! Last Week Kenwright assured us money was available to bring in new faces but surprise, surprise no-one came. It is about time the Board took full responsibility of the whole mess and sorted themselves out! No player will want to come to Goodison whilst the board is in turmoil. We now have to wait until January before we can see new players. Lets just hope we don't get any serious injuries over the coming couple of months. Our squad is too small and we'll be in our familiar position of the bottom 3. We deserve better. We are the best supported team - the fans are loyal and TRUE BLUE. We will, or course, carry on supporting David Moyes and the players. Hopefully the Board will listen to the true owners of Everton - the fans. Carolyn, loyal Blue, Hampshire. (04/09/04) Compo Can
I get some sort of compensation from Wayne Rooney? It's taken me nearly
an hour this morning to write 'scumbag' on his face in all of the newspapers
at work. I mean; it's not just the spiraling costs of biros on my part
- if I've got to keep this up every day my work's going to suffer, my
boss is going to notice and I'll no doubt end up getting sacked. You see
Wayne, it's all very well you thinking about your career, but what Player (Agent) Power I know you probably don't agree with what I say but I have to share my views with you: I am of the privileged position that I know a great deal about players, agents and transfer deals. I have been in a room when transfers are being thrashed out. I have been in a room when a manager has dealt with an agent because the player hasn't go the backbone to deal with his own future. I am as upset about Rooney leaving as all of you. But I think we have to be realistic about the money we have got for him. The days of the "Rio for 30 million" are over. The bubble has burst, David Beckham who is the most famous footballer in the world, who is worth a lot more than Rooney in merchandising and can play a bit too only cost 25 million, and he is at the height of his career, Owen who I admit isn't playing great but is still a decent striker only went for 8 million. My point is, in these days of player power (agent power) it is very hard for a club to hold out for more money. People are saying that he should have gone to Newcastle for 23 mill in hand. But does anybody know if Wayne would have accepted playing for Newcastle. My guess is that he has had his heart set on playing for Man Utd since the Euro's. People then say well we hold on to him until a club comes in with a better offer. If we do that then the player is still getting paid wages by EFC until January, probably not kicking a ball as he has already been chastised by the fans. This alone would have cost us 16 weeks wages at 20 grand a week. Approx 320 grand. (Anyone who says we would still have the merchandising money coming in. Who buys the shirt of a lad who refuses to play for the club and is hated by the fans?) Then who is to say that Utd will up their bid in January? They do not have a bottomless pit of money, as shown by the way they have arranged their payments. And I am sure if he hasn't played or is maybe playing simply because he has to, without any heart (much like he did towards the end of last season), he wont make any team want to stump up extra cash for him. I
am sure there has no doubt been lots of things happen here that we will
never get to hear about. But the facts are I am a true blue, I have stood cheering after the great games and I have been gutted after the bad games. The blame game has to stop, we do not know the whole truth and probably never will, so to blame Bill Kenwright or David Moyes or Paul Gregg on what we know is ignorant. We should get behind the team, take the stick we are defiantly going to get from our mates and be proud that we are the highest placed team in the League in Merseyside (for the moment!!!) We are Blue and we are proud. We need to stick together and move forward from this. If we divide ourselves now, in this fragile state, we might not have enough time to pull ourselves together before the end of , what may turn out to be, a massively important season. A lifelong blue. (04/09/04) Remember The Name.... Look, it’s over now – who cares. He didn’t want to stay and he didn’t. Moyes can now get on without a pre Madonna having tantrums. Remember the name Leon Osman. Dave. Southend. (04/09/04) The Board Is To Blame Forget
about Rooney- Everton have more pressing concerns- the venal corrupt cabal
in the boardroom. After this woefully inept deal it is time for the supporters
of our great club to wrestle control of Everton away from the Three Stooges.
This is one of those turning points in the history of the club - what
would it take to reorganise the club along the lines of Barcelona- owned
and controlled by the supporters with the board elected by the club membership??????
I don't know the answer to my own question but I would like to find out....... Moyesy Does anyone else remember the words mr moyes so faithfully told us? "If Wayne goes I'll go" that's what he said, so why is he still in charge of our beloved club? He sells our so called hero for 10mil and doesn't buy anyone else!! what happened to Beattie?? my view is that all senior staff at goodison should stand down and the supporters should be put in charge and remake it the peoples club. that's right bill Kenwright should step down along with david moyes and alan irvine! once a blue always a blue? likely story. Shylock. (04/09/04) Luxury It is sad to lose Wayne, but he was probably a bit of a luxury for a club struggling to keep it's head above water. The sad fact is, it is a good deal for Wayne, United, England and Everton. The millions raised by Wayne's sale will serve the club long into the future. I for one do not blame Wayne or Bill for the situation, it is the competitive nature of football and the overriding importance that money has in the game that is to blame. But mine is probably a minority view. I will continue to be a Wayne fan, but an Evertonian first. Best Regards, Gordon. (04/09/04) Rooney takes the piss out of Stubbs? In repsonse to Andy Naybour regarding Rooney taking the piss of of Stubbs etc. when they smuggled him out of Bellfield. Alan was only doing what he was told . . . . his agent is/(certainly) was a certain Paul Stretford. The whole episode just stinks. Bill. Canny. (04/09/04) No one is bigger than the club! I
feel that Everton have got to be able to pick themselves up after this
whole saga and continue to get the results on the pitch. All evertonians
Once A Blue... I am disgusted with a lad that once wore "Once A Blue Always A Blue On His Shirt", he has sold the club cheap that made him. He once said its a dream come true playing for Everton, so why did he only play 2 seasons for us, leaving us for an enemy, and why did he leave now not last week. He has now left Everton without a majour threat up front, if he left last week we could of signed real class likes James Beattie who is a proven goal scorer. Philip McCrudden. (04/09/04) Sensible Reaction Congratulations to Mickey Blue Eyes for the most sensible reaction yet to Rooney's departure. While I understand it is pretty much spot on and the only rational way of explaining/dealing with our disappointment, I still struggle to accept what has happened. Naively I now realise, I thought Wayne was One of Us, Blue through and through, and would give us a chance to rise to somewhere near his level. For him to leave after just two seasons, much spent on the bench, is devastating. He should have given the club, our club, his club, more time. I also wish him well, but for the rest of his career every time I see him it will hurt, I will feel betrayed, and I will wonder why I continue to be obsessed with a game and a club that causes so much heartache. But the fans and club must move on, and we will...Hugo Duncan. (04/09/04) How, Why, What? How
was he allowed to go on the never never. a bit of cash here & there
is not going to help. Why is one of the best supported clubs in such a
state anyway. Two years Jeffers & Ball went for £16 million.
At the time we had debts of £25m. What the f**fd happened to the
cash ?? Lyric change!!!! Second verse of the banks of the royal blue Mersey! 'To hell with Gregg and Kenwright too, throw them all in the Mersey. Coz we'll fight fight with all out might for the boy's in the ROYAL BLUE JERSEY!!! Frustrated is not the word. I bet we all were watching sky sports news in vain last night, waiting for those magic words 'Just in Everton have signed.....'' Did they come? Did the bolx! Kenwright must think we are fcuking thick!! Waiting until the last minute so he thinks he has a half decent excuse for not spend! Well i'm afraid this is not even half decent! After making this club the laughing stock of world football this was probably his only chance to reinstate a glimmer of pride! Lucky for us we have Moyes and a bunch of lads with the balls to give us something to cling onto! Thank you Moyesy! I'm just sorry that you have to work with that w*nker! Shaggy! Park End! (04/09/04) Rooney The
Boy Wonder has finally gone. How long will it be do you think before he's
scoring and kissing the badge of his ManU shirt. I hope the "Once
a blue always a blue" haunts him for ever. The lad had the opportunity
to have been THE all time great at this club. Even if he'd have seen out
a couple of years and then gone the fans would have understood and given
him their blessing. But the biggest disappointment is that he has started
to slag the club off by the way it's been handled. He needs to have a
look in the mirror. He say's he's gutted. Have a think of how all those
kids with Rooney on the back of their Everton shirt feel. They idolised
him and he's kicked the club and the fans squarely in the nuts. So
He's gone... I
could take a move to Real or Arsenal. I would understand a move to replace
Shearer though not believe it. I just cant take a move to the mancs, home
to the theory that all scousers are scum, just ask the chuckle brothers.
I think it will be a case of i told you so all round , with every expert
telling us this was going to happen. My only hope was that blue blood
would prevail and we could reap some of what we have sown. Gutted Gutted gutted...... that is all i can say. .. great footballer but not the sharpest knife in the drawer.. he has been sold by a cheap line for a quick deal... gutted.. what happened to the romance of this club...? i still dream of scoring in the Gwladys end.. as all true blues do. and that should be enough.... sell high and build.. that's what i reckon anyway. Gutted.. stabbed in the back.. jeffers? Mark & Tracey & Ian Brown. NZ. (04/09/04) Reality Check Please The fuckin cheeky bastards. No Education, forty-thousand a game and then shit on us. Tell me this as not happened not once but twice. My daughter has spent the last ten years in school studying to be a doctor and these pricks have been given the lottery to do something we would think of doing for nothing, play for Everton. Reality Check Please. UN fuckin real. or is it? John Lea. (04/09/04) What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail bluekipper.com |
