Season Ticket Price Increase

Season Ticket Up For Grabs

I think the tickets have gone up quite a bit really, mine is £480 for Upper Gwladys. However, I am buying a house and getting married which rules me out unless some kind person renews it for me or I win a lot of money. So Q218 may be up for grabs for somebody! Craig, Dordon, Warwickshire. (18/05/05)

Prawn Club Sandwich

Just to add my disgust at the unconsulted 50% increase to Legends Sports Bar prices. Wyness will have, at one stroke, changed the genuine fans atmosphere of the Legends Bar to a corporate library. “People’s Club” my arse – “Prawn Club (Sandwich)” more like. Yozzer. (18/05/05)

Kid's Prices

Couldn't agree more about the price of kids tickets. RE: 'All Of You Stop Moaning' - Alan Williams(See Below) We have the youngest fan-base in the country (proven) - Although we are 'The People's Club' we are losing revenue, here. Mind you, there is no guarantee that an adult would take up the seat vacated by the kid but you've got to start somewhere. C. Jones. (18/05/05)

Vice president suite - Not Next Season

Just to add to the recent response to the hike in season ticket prices, there are four of us in our family who sit in the Vice Presidents Suite in the main Stand. Last year, the combined price of our season tickets amounted to approximately £7000, including both Cup competitions. Next year, the total for four tickets would amount a staggering £20,000 that’s more than double in price. Added to that is the fact that Cup competitions are only included up until and not inclusive of the quarter final stages. (No European games as well). There is no way that we will be renewing these seats as we feel because of the season the club has had they are taking advantage of the position we are in. There were mumbling's of a protest after the Newcastle game but that seemed to die down as quickly as it came. Would be happy to add our names to any petition. Nick. West Derby. (14/05/05)

Don't Do A Leeds

Last season it was £640 for one basic Leeds United season ticket. We are Everton! 'Nuff said. Chris Jones. (14/05/05)

There Must Be Trust

It costs me £7000 a year to support Everton. Why? Two Joe Mercer Lounge tickets and a long trip from the Cotswolds plus a handful of London games. The price hike in season tickets will mean I'm nearer £10,000 for my Blues obsession than not. I don't condemn our new CEO. Commercially, we do need to do better - clubs as small as Fulham have turnovers approaching ours and that's something Mr Wyness knows he has to address.

What worries me is threefold: how he is treating those who have dig deepest for their recent support. 'Can't afford the new prices? Take what's left around the ground after seat renewals.' How he imagines that a lounge currently not sold out will suddenly become sold out by withdrawing the opportunity to eat in it and increasing prices and, most worryingly, that he claims to have consulted the fans first - that's just not true. I may disagree with him on his pricing policies, but he has a job to do and he is the only person in full receipt of the facts. I hope Mr. Wyness is judging the supply/demand curves and marginals correctly - but I would urge him not to break golden rule number one with Scousers; be straight with us or we wont trust you. Bootle Bill. (14/05/05)

TICKET PRICES

After enjoying the Celebrations on Sunday with the Champions League Qualifications, My celebrations were short lived, When i received my Season Ticket prices for 2005/06 on the Monday morning, i suppose that is part of being an Evertonian, I was really disgusted to find that the Club i have been supporting for the last 20 years had once again Ripped me off. They had put my Season ticket up from £1300 to £1600 and that it didn't Include FA Quarter Final, or League Cup Quarter Final. And also Champions League. What a Laugh. Liam. (14/05/05)

All of you stop moaning !!!!!

Everton have woken up to the reality of Football, paying £105 for a kids season ticket is bad business on Everton's side when that seat can be used to generate a larger income for the club etc, etc Too many people have abused the children's ticket and you are all paying for it. That's life I'm afraid when it comes to cost, if you cant afford it then you cant have it that applies to every day life so why are Everton different. In line with all other clubs we are still near the bottom when it comes to ticket prices. YOU all only have to look at the housing market in the city to realise that its time our city woke up with the rest of the country.

My season ticket has gone up but who cares, the cheque was posted today with a big smile on my face. Roll on 2005/6 !!!!!!!!!!!
You get what you pay for in life, how was the football when we had low ticket prices? Alan Williams. (14/05/05)

We Are Still Cheaper Than Other Clubs

AS SOMEONE WHO BUYS [AND READS] THE PROGRAMME AT AWAY GAMES I SUGGEST THAT THOSE WHO ARE COMPLAINING AT NEXT SEASON'S PRICES SHOULD DO THE SAME. AT THE RECENT FULHAM MATCH THEY PUBLISHED THEIR NEW SEASON'S PRICES AND THEY WERE MUCH HIGHER THAN OURS AND JUST THINK WHAT THEY WILL BE WATCHING! [E.G. RADZINSKI MISSING ONE ON ONES IN EVERY GAME].

EVERYONE ACCEPTS THAT WE HAVE TO INCREASE THE CORPORATE HOSPITALITY INCOME FOR THE CLUB TO PROGRESS AND GIVEN THE CONFINES OF GOODISON WHERE ELSE ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO IT IF NOT IN THE EXCLUSIVE CLUBS, IF THOSE THERE DON'T LIKE IT THEY CAN ALWAYS JOIN THE REAL PEOPLES CLUB IN THE GENERAL PART OF THE GROUND. GEOFF ATHERTON. (14/05/05)

U11's & U16's Price Increases Way Over The Top

I sit in the Lower Bullens and mine has gone from £409 to £442 which is quite reasonable. My younger brothers has gone from £150 to £209 which is a disgrace. Next year he wont qualify for Under 11 so will have to pay under 16 prices. With under16 being £280 this year what will it be next year? Another £50 maybe on top of that? That means his season ticket will have more than doubled in 2 years which is a fookin joke. Paul Donnelly. (14/05/05)

Prices Should Reflect Quality

Ticket prices should reflect the quality on show, of the ground and of the players, I think its way to steep and shows the cheek of the board to milk a top-four finish. What sort of improvements were made from the last hike in price?

Goodison has a cracking buzz around it but for the price of season tickets we should be looking at other grounds in the prem and asking "What are we paying for" . we better be asking that in the summer too when new faces appear.

As for the under 11's price raise, how are the young lads in front of me goin to afford that??? It seems like all their pocket money is goin on skunk to smoke at the match. COYB. BIG FELLA. (14/05/05)

No Sympathy

As a season ticket holder for 28 years, I expect the club to raise ticket prices as this has become the norm. I have a lot of sympathy for the rise in prices for OAP's and juniors, after all the juniors are the future of the club and by raising the price you are potentially cutting off a long term revenue stream whilst revealing how short sighted the club are.

As for the fans who are based in the more exclusive lounge areas I have no sympathy for whatsoever, if you have the cash and are willing to pay a premium for your bovril and prematch buffet then I have no problem in the club trying to screw them into the floor, there is an alternative join the unwashed in the normal sections of the ground. Cheers. Ron D. (14/05/05)

The People's Bar, my arse as one would say on the telly!

Having been a member of the legends for over five years i was dismayed to learn of the price increase for next season. Only an hour or two before the game against Newcastle my friends had been saying how they were impressed by the board not over doing the hike for next year for the various parts of the ground that they sit in. At that point I said that I was unable to comment on any rise in ticket price as I was still waiting to hear how much it was going to be, this was soon to be corrected.

Upon arrival at the ground I found that someone had indeed already received their renewal letter and confirmed that the rise would be just under 50% making it a little under 168% rise in the time that I have been a member in the legends.

Now I understand that as a club we have little to offer in the way of corporate hospitality but to fleece your own fans who have stood by the club through thick and thin is just too much to take in. The following Monday afternoon I phoned the club to express my displeasure of the increase and at the same time inquired how I would go about changing my ticket and picking a new seat bearing in mind that I live over 200 miles from the ground and cannot just drop in on one of their open days.

To say that they were surprised at my unwillingness to pay over £1000 is an understatement!! I cannot believe for one moment that they had not had similar phone calls throughout the day for as i spoke to my fellow Legends tickets holders during and after the game, not many would be willing to pay that amount of money and not even be guaranteed a seat for any forth coming European games!!! Cambs Blue. (14/05/05)

Meeting With Keith Wyness

Just to let people know, there is a meeting at the Legends bar Saturday morning at 10.00am where Legends bar members will be meeting Keith Wyness to "discuss" the price increase. (13/05/05)

Targeting The Kids

Adult tickets up by 8% in the Upper Bullens. Last season kids tickets in the Upper Bullens rose by an outrageous 43%. This season they have risen by 240%. Since the end of 03/04 season (12 months ago) kids tickets have risen by 387%. All of the kids season tickets have been made renewal only. That means any new under 11 who wants to buy a season ticket will have to pay at the U16 rate all around the ground except in the Upper Bullens and Main Stand where they can only purchase adult tickets.

Everton have hit the kids between a minimum of 86% and a maximum of 252%. Everton have quite simply targeted the kids. In our most successful season for 20 years our gates are down 6% on the previous season when we had our worst ever finish in the Prem. This season we lost 22% of the season ticket holders. Next season we will lose many more of the future generation of Evertonians and possibly many of their parents.

Me and my kids were season ticket holders when Everton were shit but we had to give it up with last seasons outrageous price increases. At the end of 03/04 my kids tickets cost £105, to get the same seats now would cost £511 each. I had been saving up for next seasons tickets but Everton have not just slammed the door in our faces they have nailed it up and barred it shut forever.

Peoples Club my arse, The Corporate Peoples Club more like.

Good luck with the marketing plan Keith - I just hope that you have a section in it that says what we will do when our footballing stock falls again and the corporate's desert us. Steve Smith. (13/05/05)

Prawn to be Wild

As an Alex Young lounge member ( I suppose now ex member )I am appalled to read the comments, not only which concern me, but the other horror stories which Wyness and Wyness alone has instigated for next season. Does he
honestly think that selling a few hundred more meals on a match day to a load of freeloading day trippers will cement Everton FC's financial future and help us to compete at the highest level for more than one season. His
cynical exploitation of the ' Peoples Club ' concept leaves me cold . Renaming the Legends Lounge ' The peoples Club' is crass to say the least.

On reading the lounge renewal brochure in more detail. It appears that there is going to be considerable remodeling of the lounges at a considerable investment . The provision of balcony seating for the executive boxes and new luxury seating in the Alex Young Lounge are to be undertaken by specialists in the field , Sodexho... not Linda Barker as first thought.

The Alex young was previously called the 500 club and we can assume that the membership in round figures is still around 500. I understand that 200 will be accommodated in the lounge for fine dining next season. Do the maths,
500 paying £1000 is not to dissimilar to 200 paying £2500 ( Vat included of course)I can only assume that the peoples club under the guise of Mr Wyness does not want my custom next year when last season and previously they would be snapping your hand off.

Interestingly, I cannot recall a match last season ,save for the derby , when all the tables in the existing restaurant area in the AYL were occupied anyway. The Newcastle game had at least 5 empty tables.

The firm I work for had 4 tickets for years in the AYL used informally by staff and clients for a sociable day out, not for networking opportunities on tables of 10/12 as is now tantalizingly offered. The tickets were given up and transferred to Anfield when Liverpool entered the Champions league simply because the take up on the EFC tickets was tailing off and it was not a viable use of the marketing / entertaining budget. Now we are in the champions league ourselves , they may be tempted back ... only Wyness tickets do not include UEFA competitions or more bizarrely domestic cup comps from 1/4 finals onwards .. so what's the bloody point !!

Everton FC has exceeded all our expectations this year I could not be more proud to be an Evertonian . I along with 3200 others at Highbury last night got a short sharp shock of realism during a match played in the shadows of the new Emirates stadium. What came across more than anything last night was the passion of the supporters. I recalled the Man Utd lap of honour after the Chelsea game, half hearted players dragging themselves around a deserted stadium ... we have a lot to look forward to...

' Shocked... very high price increases... offering alternative.. better value for money.. more money into the squad '
K Wyness (soundbites)....... What a prawn !! Peter. (13/05/05)

Kid's Season Tickets

I have just received my season ticket renewal along with my 10 year old son's. While my ticket in the upper bullens has gone up by around £40, My 10 year old has gone up a £112 this is over a 100% increase. While i
understand the need for more cash for better players, there is no way the club can justify a 100% increase on a child's season ticket. How am I going to tell my 10 year old son he can not go a watch his heros because his Dad can not afford to buy a ticket! Steve Cooper. Whiston. (13/05/05)

Unacceptable

So once again the peoples club stab the fans again, with this season ticket rise, for the under 11’s in the main stand its is a rise of 74.3%, which is unacceptable, my ticket went up by 7.4%, to £529.00 which I can live with. So when the renewal came in I phoned Everton to see if the decimal point had been put in the wrong space, the girl at the ticket office said no it was right!, she informed me that the rise is correct, I asked why such a large increase, she then said that this was because they never put the tickets up last season. So instead of realizing that, and putting the price up gradually, the hit the fans with massive increases.

The sad thing is I will still pay the price because I am an Evertonian, but I am sorry this is a load of Shite. Joe Murray – Main Stand. (13/05/05)

150% Increase in Alex Young Lounge

i am a season ticket holder in the Alex Young Lounge and have been for 8 years. on Saturday we received our new season ticket prices and there is a 150% increase. this is up from 1000 to 2500. they are offering a whole different service and have not consulted us. on Saturday i started a petition but had limited time. I would urge you to help your fellow blues as everyone i spoke to is against the plans. i will be writing to our ceo and the chairman, but in the meantime could you please help by publishing this. if anyone who supports us in our fight can contact me through bluekipper or alex young members can also contact the club. i would be grateful for your support. the deadline for our renewals is the end of May, which does not give us much time. we fear that they are trying to attract the suits which attend the arse and the mancs but we are not them. we are the Peoples Club
can you please publish this asap. Thank you. Michael Ballinger. (12/05/05)

50% increase

I don't know what the percentage increase is in other areas but we are in the Legends Sports Bar, and we received confirmation of our increase on Saturday morning prior to the Newcastle game. It's a massive 50%, yes I did say 50%!! Last year we paid £708, and this year it's whopping £1,057.50. Except that the price shown was not £1,057.50, but £900 + VAT. Like that made a difference. How dare Everton Football Club try to insult my intelligence. I couldn't believe it, I thought there must be a mistake. No, the name of the Legends is being changed to the People's Club, and for the extra £349.50, we'll get a poxy buffet lunch before each game. Great, considering we never have anything to eat before the match, probably because we can't afford it!

According to a comprehensive Everton survey carried out in 2004/2005, we all accepted that an increase was inevitable. Oh yes, I remember voting for a 50% increase!! People's Club? I am one of the people and I can't afford this increase. However, I can change my seat to an alternative lounge, next cheapest is the Captain's Table at £1,500 plus VAT!! My other option is to go for a 'general stand seat' on a best available basis. Everyone knows that means an obstructed view. So what can me and my husband do? We are absolutely distraught. We can't afford an extra £700. We loved being part of the Legends Bar, but hey the prawn sandwich brigade are more important than fans who have supported this club through the bad times (never thought I would agree with Roy Keane). Remember last season finishing 17th? Took me and John about 10 minutes (that long?) to decide to renew. So much for loyalty. I'm getting quite upset writing this email, and I feel helpless. I can't believe my beloved Everton are doing this. What about the incentive to get a better seat 3 years ago with the issue of priority vouchers for the new ground? Another Everton con? Come on, Keith Wyness, let's have a response, but I'm still waiting for a reply to my last email after the Blackburn game, when I complained about Blackburn fans being allowed in the Legends. Obviously, I won't have that problem next year. Linda Christian. (12/05/05)

Hike

I took part in the questionnaire regarding the season tickets for us the " loyal fans ". Whilst I accept that the price did need to increase I am some what disappointed with the HIKE of the concessionary tickets particularly with the under 11's. I can accept mine in the main stand but I have put my money were my mouth is for many years and have also bought for the last five years for my son.

But a hike of over £110 is a bit steep for the under 11's, considering loyalty, when few others were buying their tickets prior to a couple of years ago and the drop last year in season tickets holders. Sorry to say but they come out the woodwork when your winning. Bit of loyalty to season tickets holders both young and old for more than a couple of seasons would have been nice. It just means I can't get my little girl her first season ticket this year. Doesn't mean she isn't a blue but it would have been nice to actually show her why it means to be born a blue always a blue!! Annmarie Smith. (12/05/05)

Legends Tickets

I'm interested how one of my mates in the Upper Bullens saw a £20 rise in his season ticket price but in Legends, our price goes up by £349. We apparently get some butties before the game next season but like the existing half time biccies, its highly likely there'll be none left by the time we get there and it'd have to a buffet organised by Carlsberg to be worth £349!

It went up a £100 last year and of course we expected another £100 again, perhaps some more even, but 35%, that's a bit rich. £600 to £708 to £1057 in two seasons! Daylight robbery.

They can't tell us whether we get cup tickets included or indeed European ones but they want us to renew anyway without this knowledge. Everton is no longer our club. They don't care. Its the cheapest of the lounges which makes it the lounge that most genuine supporters go for. I'm also informed by the club that its the one where they get most grief. So what do they do? They price most of us out of it. Thanks Everton. We all supported you when the team was shite. Thanks for returning the favour. Dave Noble. (12/05/05)

New Faces

Fuckin robdogs. There had better be some new faces of quality this year. Luvvie darling will have to dig deep this year if we are to build on 2004-2005. Neil Bennett. (12/05/05)

Quite Reasonable

I find the rise in the season tickets quite reasonable. However, the amount the club has put on the under 11's is scandalous. If you sit in the paddock or upper bullens you will be paying on average £35-38 more. These 11 year olds are the future supporters of our club and to penalise them in this way is beyond the pale, parents who take their children to watch the blues should be given a pat on the back not a kick in the teeth because this is what it amounts to. Some parents take more than one child with them so it is a very expensive hobby and if EFC are not careful they will lose this valuable support. Let's not forget if one parent can't afford the children's ticket then that's TWO season tickets that will not be taken. We might be on the brink of champions league and some might argue that it will be worth it but to hike up the price of an under 11's ticket is to me outrageous. Might I add that I don't take any children to the game with me and yes I am a season ticket holder and my ticket has just gone from 708 to 1,058 yes that's pounds and no I do not own or run my own company I am just a supporter of EFC. Sheila Whyte. (12/05/05)

Appalling Prices

Absolutely appalling increases. Peoples Club my a**e. Expect another big fall in attendances next season. Stephen Carse. (12/05/05)

Family Enclosure

Can you please tell me if Everton are not allowing people who are over the age of sixteen, or families without juniors to buy their season tickets in the family enclosure. I was told halfway through the season that this was to be the case. Thank you. Peter. (12/05/05)

Kids Hammered Again

Well the club policy should be now 'discourage them when they are young and they will never come back',another massive hike for the under 11's in two yrs, some parents must be beside themselves after bringing them up in the Blue way being encouraged to get season tickets that they could just about afford to have the rug well and truly pulled from under them once they have there kids hooked. Everton you will kill the the mouths that feed you,

It's very much looking now the clubs policy is price the kids out of Goodison so an Adult can take there seats.
Talking about biting the hand that feeds you ! Dismayed of Wigan. M Denny. (12/05/05)

£2 A Game

An increase of about £2 a game. Will do me. It's out of order if you have kids though. Cookie. (12/05/05)

Not Justified

This is the first year I've started to consider that the price of the season ticket might not be justified. Near enough £500 for a Park End ticket is a ludicrous amount of money. Taking into account last years hefty increase (and loss of early renewal discount), combined with the increased revenue from this years league position/Europe, how can the club justify an 8% increase! I just hope the players appreciate the sacrifices some fans make to buy the season tickets that pay their inflated wages. Ian Lavery. (12/05/05)
