Believe in Moyes

I still back Moyes to bring in the players he wants, if a player wants to much money then that is a fact of life, we could pay these people what they want and get them, but all that we will get is a Leeds situation. For all those people out there who are disappointed in not signing the players we have been linked with try this scenario:

We bought Parker £60,000, Emre £55,000, Bellamy £50,000 and Sissoko £??. If we didn't qualify for the Champions League group stages (as these players are not exactly the most experienced at getting clubs there) we are in Uefa cup, less income already, a bit of a run in the cups nothing special, 10th in the league etc. These players are not guaranteeing success and yet they want the money for being world beaters!!!! I say no thanks, we could have these players on these wages bleeding us dry. Bellamy having a go at other for not passing, Sissoko sulking as he would rather be with the Shite!!! Parker and Emre looking elsewhere for more money. Let these people go to lower table teams, it shows there ambitions, Money Money Money. I would rather not have a LEEDS at Everton. believe in Moyes it will happen. Andy, Scotland. (13/07/05)

Frustrating

In response to Dave (12/07/05). I know its frustrating that we seem to be losing out on players but, come on, how can you be this negative after what we achieved last season.

The basis of our results was a great team spirit. Bellamy, Parker and anyone else who looks just for a big pay packet will ruin that balance and do more harm than good. I don't care how much craft they have. They have to be an Everton player in their heads first and foremost.

Since the end of Kendall's first spell in charge Everton managers have thrown good money after bad on dodgy players and very long contracts. That is why we are still in such a financial mess. I am delighted that Moyes is sticking to his guns. At least this way we will avoid being the next Leeds United.

We still have a few weeks to go and I am certain that the great man will strengthen the team at least a couple more times yet. Keep the faith. Sandsy (13/07/05)

CAN’T BUY ME LOVE!

Why is ANYONE question Moyes’s transfer policy? He’s set out his stall, he’s going to manage the club’s finances, not pay silly wages, not pay silly transfer fees, get us back into the black and build the foundations of a Premiership winning team. This will not happen over night, although blowing the budget on wages and transfer fees could turn us into Leeds overnight!

We know Souness is flashing Newcastle’s cash, but so what – that’s the only way he knows how to operate – the same way Walter did for us – it doesn’t work in the premiership and it just wastes resources that would be better used in building up the team over the next few seasons. If that means that we have to work within a wage
structure then that fine by me, it was mismanagement of the club’s finances that left us in the wilderness for so long.

Moyes isn’t looking for overnight success, he knows we can’t BUY the premiership, and that the only way to achieve ANYTHING is by hard work, so let Moyes do his job, while we do ours by SUPPORTING him and the club. What would you prefer – to be like Newcastle, or to be like Everton? Sac le Jongleur. (13/07/05)

It's Easy To Get Desperate Now

The biggest hole we have to plug rite now is defence. DM has relied on a hardworking midfield to cover for the deficiencies of a slow defence last season and we certainly needed Tiny and Cars and Killer to run like they never imagined they would. Yobo is a great athlete but his positioning and his awareness as a central defender is appalling. Stubbsy (and to a lesser extent Weir) bailed him out too many times. Hopefully Kroldrup will fit in right away and Yobo learns his trade fast cos Weir is getting slower and slower.

I am happy Pistol is leaving (but many thanks for playing way above himself last season), am surprised Naysmith has resigned so Moretti or whoever with a decent cross and high work rate will be welcomed. In midfield, if Arteta is not signing the current options will be predictable to counter against next season – perhaps we may surprise a few in Europe but losing out on Sissoko and Emre is disappointing. I hope Biffa slims down n starts scoring because we haven’t had a pure finisher for too long. We can't rely on Tiny to keep coming up with the goals.

So there u have it…. We need at least 4 more players (1 centre def, 1 LB, 1 playmaker, 1 pacy finisher) and I think its easy to say that. Everybody knows we need more. I don’t think we should break the bank in offering wages to get any quality and quantity to meet the demands of EPL and Europe – but I dunno when if not now for us to do away with our conservative shopping tendencies. As Wenger puts it, the market is so quiet this season. Things may just start moving now. For all those patient souls like me, let’s hope that starts soon. DM wants gradual progress without risking too much in purchases but I fear with the numbers we have this progress he talks about may take a few steps back. Keep the faith…. we have been experts in that for more than a decade! Ron. (13/07/05)

Get 'Em In

There are still some quality players around and up for grabs, Arteta, Van de meyder, Robbie Keane to name a few all could fit in and do a job and the most we would have to pay is around 4 million for keane. we need some class and pace through the team, get em in and we'll prove last season was no fluke. i like taking money off big mouth red shite fans. Danny Spence. True Blue. (13/07/05)

Dickie Wright

I'd been wondering where on earth Dickie was, and was beginning to speculate he had fallen out of his attic when nobody was home to find him. He hasn't travelled with the rest of the lads out to Austria, and wasn't with the other keepers on Evertonfc.com Toffeetalk this evening. I then came across this scotsman.com/ and it seems our Dickie has been getting a bit of practice in at Crewe! Seems a bit strange doesn't it? Does this suggest he is on his way out? Maybe he just fancied going on a goalkeeper course, but you'd imagine a 'keeps with No. 1 shirt ambitions would want to spend every minute he can with the rest of the squad proving how good he can be? Cheers fella's, keep up the good work, great site. Coffeen. (13/07/05)

Kroldrup

My son went to the training ground yesterday. Usual gang Dunc, Killer, Bent, Weir, Osman all happy to sign and pose for photies, then Kroldrup comes in. His driver drives straight past the kids and the cheeky bastard has LFC
number plates badge and all. Hope he learns soon. Cheers. Mark. (13/07/05)

Another New Season

Looking forward to the new season with the same optimism as usual, must be a blueblood trait. Made up when my new season ticket arrived last week and my son is eagerly awaiting his (in the post). The fact our great club is back in Europe, 'cause that's where we belong, gives that little bit more hope for the coming season. So let's hope we can all get behind the lads and King David again like last year.

Who can forget the atmosphere against the s***e and the mancs on that glorious Wednesday night? The Everton supporters can make so much of a difference when they're in full song. Always brings a lump to my throat when I remember some of the great games at our beloved Goodison. Yes, it does sound sentimentalist but I can't help letting people know how proud I am of our great club. We can take pride in knowing that we do pass through the turnstiles every other week and have one of the best away supported teams in the Premiership, all this considering the league positions we've had in the last twenty years (apart from recently).

I hope we can make a few more signings before the season kicks off. Let's not shed too many tears for the players that don't want to stay with us. I'm sure we will 'move on' as stated by King David. Everton Football Club will always be, our history says it all. CYOB. Eddie. Park End

Louis Saha

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on a great site, very funny! The main reason for the e-mail is that I am curious to find out what is happening with Louis Saha. Yesterday I got a phone call from a mate telling me he had signed, but I can't find any new information on the situation. It's killing me to find out what's happening, because he would be a great asset to our champions league squad. Yes I did say CHAMPIONS LEAUGE I'm still chanting "Champions league.. We're havin a laf to everyone! Thanks, Jack Fletcher. (13/07/05)

Great Kit

G'Day you bunch of Beaut' Blue Kippers. New kit?? Love it, but....can't work out from the pics if it has a dark
panel down the side?? looks to be a darker shade under the arm??? or is that a combination of shade and my having consumed in excess of 18 bottles of Chang last night? - (Not kiddin' either!)

Feckin' nearly wet m'self when I saw the piccy of Cars.....Fair dinkum, he looks like Steve Erkel with his daks pulled up that high. Anyway What is there to say...It's blue and has The tower and Nil Satis Nisi Optimum so there for its feckin' GREAT. Oh Yeah.......and I'm lookin' forward to winning the one in the kit comp............. All the best from down here in COLD, WET, Western Australia. Kris Everton (aka Kris Wetton)

Keep The Faith

Along with all other Blues I am disappointed we haven't signed more "star" players , but we have to trust Davie's judgment. He hasn't let us down so far, and if Arteta, Bellamy and co don't like the wages, tough shite, I want players like Cahill and Kilbane who are happy to be playing for our club, not parasites like Bilic, Dacourt etc who wanted an easy ride and loads of money. I have watched and loved the blues for 35 years and no matter who we buy and whatever the results, will still be there. Once a blue always a blue! Tony Sheehan. (13/07/05)

New Kit

I think the new Everton kit looks great and better than the last one. Jack. Liverpool. (13/07/05)

Tim Cahill

Just met Tim Cahill at my local Tesco Metro. Only went there because the big Tescos had run out of Vanilla Crowns. As fate would have it there was Tim doing some shopping (maybe he was after Vanilla Crowns as well). Just to say the man is as gracious in person as he is graceful on the pitch. Friendly, happy to chat, and he gave me an autograph for my two young lads on a blank Tesco receipt that the bewildered cashier gave me when I
frantically asked her for something to write on.

And in response to my daft question - have you seen who we've got first match? Of course he had - he said fantastic, bring 'em on. He said he had come back from Germany, but felt ok and was looking forward to a break and rest now so he'd be ready for the pre-seasons and the 13th. Ace man, ace footballer. Who's worrying about our transfer dealings when Moyes has delivered players like this to Goodison?

Sorry, I just had to share this with someone because since it happened I have been like a thirteen year old teeny bopper who has just had a kiss on the cheek from her favourite boy band star. That's what Everton still does to me - 42 years on from my first trip to Goodison! Mark Hoskisson. (13/07/05)
