Villarreal Tickets 'News'

I would be interesting to hear your opinions about the shambles that is the ticket sales for the match at Goodison on 9th August. As a season ticket holder I am absolutely disgusted about the way that I am treated by this club and feel that Mr Kenwright and Mr Wyness do not appreciate the financial sacrifices that I, and many thousands of others, make each year to follow our team; all I would ask for in return in is priority for what is potentially the biggest game in the clubs history and would be more than happy to pay the individual match price. I must point out that I don't expect the be the only blue to feel this way as this has happened in the past, (red season tickets, 'lockout' against Leyton Orient/Preston, season 1997-98 home kit not being released until September). I only hope that a repeat of the scenes at the Manchester United FA Cup game is not seen. I would be interested to hear your views, Chris Carr. (02/08/05)

Villareal Tickets 9th August

Is your information correct? Does this mean that season tickets holders do not get priority to purchase their tickets before they go on general sale and if so, why has the club not given us season tickets holders at least 1 day to purchase our normal seat ?

Whilst I appreciate the time scale is an issue, we all knew the dates of the game, I am sure the ticket office could have opened last Saturday, the Villareal website, which I immediately accessed after the draw gave the date of the home leg within 30 minutes of the tie being drawn, we have to await confirmation until the Sunday afterwards.

Is this the typical Everton commercial side arising about again ? Steve. (02/08/05)

Xmas come early

We were well and trulystuffed by the Turks, and we all hope it is not a taste of things to come? Surprise Richard Wright let even more in......to add to his Arsenal tally last year, he's a liability lets cash in on him now and give Turner and Ruddy a go! So to sum up we have a goalkeeper leaking goals, and the $6 million dollar man who can't score any......not looking good is it!

Wev'e spent 10 million so far in the close season, so that means we have at least 15 million left in the pot, from investors/sponsors and rooney cash!

I, like most blues do not want overspend money on trying to get players in, who won't come unless we bankroll them, but as I have said in the past this is a glorious opportunity for Everton football club to consolidate it's position and push on to reach even greater heights...........to do very little in improving the squad will almost certainly put us back in the doldrums of 17th. We have let three go and brought in three. Outside of the goalkeepers we have little strength in depth, and were lucky last season with injuries and suspensions.

If I were to make an appeal to Moyesy it would be to strengthen......everybody knows it's a difficult market, but we showed last year in Tim Cahill, that there is some quality outside of the Premiership, in our lower leagues and in other leagues abroad and the beauty of these players is that they want to prove themselves and are not Prima Donnas! Some come on lets get some in(we could have had Baros.....top scorer Euro 2004)!

Finally Keith Wyness has openly stated that the Red Shiiii-e are scavenging a share of our telly money, and I only hope he pursues the bungling FA....... for our rightful share

Mal (true blue......but not holdings). (02/08/05)

Everton hospitality

May I take this opportunity thank Davie Moyes and the whole Everton squad for making my young lad Eamonn Hughes so welcome at Bellefield prior to them going to the airport for today's game in Turkey. They all took time to chat to him and sign his shirt .A very special mention should be made to Big Dunc who made Eamonn feel very special. I think that this is one of the reasons why we are called The Peoples Club, unlike our neighbours who treat their ill advised followers with such contempt. Also a special mention to fellow Evertonians Bobby and Pauline Tudor for their hospitality to my son during his stay with them all last week. Eamonn Hughes. Belfast. (02/08/05)

Jay obviously there is a problem in my expression of the English language. When I said Barca was run by a group of dynamic fortysomethings and then said 'Arise Sir Phillip Carter', I thought I was doing what we Brits do best - 'take the piss'. Obviously the irony was lost on someone there. As for Parker, the case is pretty clear. If he has chosen Newcastle because they're the only ones stupid and/or rich enuff to pay him £55K then he is greedy. If however he has chosen them because he wants to play CL football season after next (no guarantee) as against next season (guaranteed) then he lacks ambition. Either way good riddance and good luck.

I trust David Moyes but given the incompetence of our board, the job is bound to be more difficult that it already is. I agree with his search for honest hardworking players who will fit in with his ethos and his unwillingness to pay over the odds for players. But I am sick with this prevalent call that we should pay the going rate. And how much is that exactly? No player earns £55K/week in the Bundeliga not even Ballack, neither did any of the UEFA Champions at Porto. The most expensive player in the Bundesliga is less than £10m for any player. Lucio and Ze Roberto - Brazillian internationals, superb Bayern Munich players are on £13.5K/week! They have not resulted to selling the Big Issue on the streets of Munich.

In comparison Parker, Kewell, Beattie, Keane, Bellamy are at best average and are on upwards of £40k/week. Its stupid and should stop. Kenwright signs Ferguson back from Newcastle (crocked) for £4.75m @ £40k/wk for 4 years! Its lunacy. The only other league paying this kind of stupid signing on fees and wages is the Italian league. The demise of Parma, Fiorentina and Lazio tell a compelling story. Here there is Leeds United to remind us of how it can all go tits up. We can be ambitious by looking for players in European Leagues of Germany, Denmark, and Holland without being stupid at paying stupid money for overrated British players. We can also raid Big clubs Barca, Inter, Real to take players on loan. Abi aka blackandblu. (02/08/05)

Thanks

Thank you so much for your website, sent to us by Barry Levens our nephew, What a wonderful feeling to see the Everton youngsters, and great players of the future. Makes one feel quite homesick. Our most sincere thanks to you for your excellent site and for allowing us the pleasure of viewing it. We wish you, and yours all the very best.
Matt and Sylvia O'Brien from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. (02/08/05)

Sandro - Yes

Am thrilled he's signed - just need Stubbs to do the same even for one season. Bolsters the squad and they know each others game well. Looking forward to some other new signings too. Went to Motherwell - Per outstanding. Helen. (22/07/05)

Pistone - No

I CAN'T BELIEVE WE HAVE GIVEN THAT WASTE OF SPACE A NEW CONTRACT, HE WAS ALWAYS INJURED UNTIL THIS SEASON WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO GAIN A NEW CONTRACT. GRANTED HIS FORM AT THE START OF THE SEASON WAS GOOD BUT AS SOON AS HE REALISED A NEW IMPROVED CONTRACT WASN'T COMING HIS FORM DROPPED AGAIN. WHAT'S WRONG IS THAT NO OTHER TEAM CAME IN FOR HIM SO HE COMES BACK TO US. I THOUGHT THAT THE CLUB WAS MOVING ON BUT WITH THE RESIGNINGS OF PISTONE ON 2 YEARS AND MORE AMAZINGLY NAYSMITH ON 3 YEARS IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE. I THINK THIS SHOWS A SIGN OF PANIC AT THE CLUB. JOHN FITZPATRICK. (22/07/05)

Turning Point

I totally agree that this was the game when things started to change, a couple of things stuck in my mind from that game that contributed to this , first sharpy was playing with a bad injury and limping really badly and the crowd could see he was not going to give in and peter reid made a couple of long runs at their defence beating a couple of players each time (honestly he did) and that was that little seed that was needed, the crowd changed within 10 minuets and the rest is history as they say. James Day. (22/07/05)

Hopefully the last!

First and foremost I would like to point out that I am more than happy with Moyesy being in charge at the mighty Blues. He has performed a minor miracle in the last three seasons with us finishing seventh and fourth. I will not whinge about the lack of signings but I will pose a couple of, what I regard as, pertinent questions.

Why did Ryan Taylor choose to sign for Wigan, pre-season favourites for relegation, rather than a side that will be competing in Europe ?
James McFadden Why ???
Will there be teams in the Premiership quaking in their boots at the prospect of playing us with the possibility of any permutation of Naysmith, Kilbane and McFadden forming the left side of our team ?
How can we approach a season and possible qualification for the Champions League without a left back ?

European competition has obviously not been the magnet that I had expected would attract some better players to Goodison Park. In fact it would appear to have had the opposite effect. Please do not misconstrue any of the above as a whinge. I am as desperate as the next man for Everton to have another good season. Fourth again would be nice. What happened to Beattie, Kroldrup, Davies etc in the Thailand friendly? I shall, as ever, keep the faith. John.

Song For Europe

How about 'Take on the World' by Judas Priest ? A bit more rousing than that naff remix of 'If you know your history'. Is it just me or is anyone else getting a bit bored with the same tunes just before kick-off? Regards. Big Bob. (22/07/05)

80's Turning Point

I always thought for me that the turning point was the cup game at home to I think Coventry we had gone 1-0 down and the crowd (which had been dwindling week by week) suddenly would not let Everton die and really got behind the team, as a result we won the game and then the players started to believe in themselves. Had we not won that match we would not have even been involved in the Oxford game and I shudder to think what history may have had in store for us. I wonder does anyone else share these views. Chris Simpson. (20/07/05)

Everton's Scouting System

Breaking news comes in that Graeme Souness, who has used Everton's scouting system extensively whilst dragging down Blackburn and Newcastle respectively, has once again stolen a march on David Moyes, and signed the Toffees top transfer targets. Souness, appearing very smug as he came out of Tesco's at Gateshead reported: "I checked the blueKipper.com website, and found that Everton were interested in A Tater, and a Swede, so I've been and bought the whole vegetable section. I think one of the Swedes I got will be a definite improvement on Titus Bramble (who was in the fruit section), but I'm not sure how young Piper - Maris to his friends - will fit into our midfield until the grounds get muddy, cos he's still a bit green on top". "I've also bought every last tin of Coco(a), and ordered every Ball that Adidas have, so I think I've now got all their targets covered as Alan Shearer already has a Ferrari."

He also added "Jermaine Jenas has won every top honour in the game at Newcastle, and must be worth £180 million, plus Sol Campbell, and Arsenal must come up with serious cash and Sol Campbell to get him as we are definitely not selling. Why would we want to sell our top players? Sol Campbell has been here for years and won every top honour with Newcastle, so why should I give Arsenal £180 million plus Sol Campbell for Jermaine Jenas, unless David Moyes is interested in him?" Barcodes chairman Freddy Shepherd said "the man's a F*****g Fruitcake", at which point Souness rushed back into Tesco's to fill his trolley with Mr Kiplings, in case another top toffee target had slipped through the net. Aitch. (20/07/05)

God the sun's out and its great....

Just started thinking about the new season, and having a real laugh to myself what if we draw the redshite and knock them out of the C.L. now that would be great. I also spoke to a real football fan today from London who supported QPR all his life, we spoke about the days out at loftus road in the 70's one particular time we beat them 5-1 i remember latchford and mackenzie were brilliant.(i was only 10) it was pissing down with rain and my dad was well pissed.

He then told me his view on the Everton team who ECWC and who would have surely gone on to win the European cup the following year if it had not been for heysel. "They were the best team to play the british game of football EVER " (HIS WORDS NOT MINE) Little did he know that to hear this made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

It sort of occurred to me that we are now on the verge of something great at Everton and we as a club and as a family are now only just recovering from what happened to us in the 80's as a consequence of those terrible events. The shite go on about walking through storms but i feel very positive that we have come through the biggest storm in our grand history.

So I wanted to write in to say thankyou to the QPR fan for making me remember that Everton are great and we as supporters are the greatest, Those glory days are coming around again i can feel it getting closer maybe not this year maybe not the season after but there coming back put your house on it.
SG Whelan. (18/07/05)

Transfer Blues

I think its justifiable to feel frustrated about our inactivity in the transfer market. Moyes proclamation that we have a championship squad is barmy. At the time of writing we have lost Stubbs, Watson and Pistone and bought Davies, Kroldrup and Ruddy (a keeper) and Arteta (and he was here on loan anyway). At the end of the season Moyes and Stubbs amongst others talked of another 4 or 5 players needed to compete and maintain the progress made. The clubs inept performance in the transfer market is frankly embarrassing. I'm not totally blaming Moyes here. He's a great coach and tactician - but I'm not sure he can sway top players to sign up. I wonder whether the tight fisted nature of the scots (Wynnes) is playing a big part in all this.

Moyes stated to-day that the club is 'prepared to pay' (top wages) and there is no wage ceiling - well in that case why have we lost out on Sissisiko, Bellamy, Emre etc ect. This squad - which Moyes is now saying that will represent us in Europe does not comprise of a left back or a striker of genuine quality (top scorer Cahill remember last year) Yes I know we had a fabulous year and exceeded expectations and everyone knows that we need to be sensible with our spends but we need to be more ambitious - and we need to be ambitious now. Blue Nose Toe. (18/07/05)

Charitable Trust

Let's back this big time. As Keith ' my man' Wyness says we are always singing 'If you know your history ..........' well here it is in one collection. 40,000 fans give a tenner a head there is £400,000 straight away. With the club donating £250,000 plus £100,000 from Lord Granchester that leaves only £450,000 for the fans and as said we will be part owners. Just £50,000 to go then I have sent the web address around work to all the Evertonians and we have donated £60 already. An outstanding opportunity to educate future generations re why we are the biggest and oldest club on Merseyside, the country, Europe and the world. Nice one Dr David France for the knock down price. Paulie, one of the disciples of the Moyesiah. (18/07/05)

Summer Signings

Well all I can say is that we need to sign some quality players soon. We need a left back and a striker that will score goals alongside Beattie. We still haven’t replaced Tommy Grav either. Jason Koumas and Robbie Keane wouldn’t be bad additions. After reading the speculation involving Paul Scholes, he is a quality player and he would be a great signing but he is pushing on.

I would love to see Big Dunc getting more starts this season. He puts fear into the heart of every premiership defence. Bent worked his socks off last season but he didn’t score enough goals. I do believe Moyesy will be bring some top class players. Tim Cahill was one of the premierships signings of the season so if we could get another couple like Timmy. I would be delighted with a good run in the CL, a top six in the premiership and win either cup. Darragh Guinnane, Galway, Ireland. (18/07/05)

Melledrew Tendency

Peter Laing. F'ing spot on mate. Never a truer word said! StueyMac, Dutchblue. (18/07/05)

Anyone else fuming with Stubbs?

He's meant to be a true blue and had the opportunity to play in the champions league with us, instead he'd rather leave for an extra year at a shit club. well done stubbsy. TIT. We should try and get SAVIOLA. I'm hoping most of all for a new left back coz Pistone was are number one left back an he was a load of shit! now we just got GAY NAY. OH NO! COME ON THE BLUES! Ben. (18/07/05)

Keep The Faith

In support of the email 'Revenge of the Shit' it is no coincidence that "Steven Gerrard, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader" is an anagram of 'Even L'knt Gerrards a wanky RedShite aardvark'. The similarity between that nice young lad in the Everton kit, who grew up to be a little cunt and turned to the dark side, and Anakin Skywalker is uncanny. We must all ensure that this never happens again. Keep the faith. Rey T Fox. (18/07/05)

The Melledrew Tendency

I for one am getting a bit pissed off with the whining and moaning from some quarters of those who proclaim to support the people's club and their scathing attacks on message boards, fan-sites and even the local media of David Moyes and his transfer policy. 'Dithering' davey seems to be the tag they attach to the man who single handedly has dragged us back from oblivion on a shoe-string budget with careful acquisitions, man-management and the desire to win and inspire those around him - players and fans alike to take pride in the people's club.

What do the melledrew tendency want - a Graeme Souness, (giz a job i can do that) approach and piss as much money as he can up the wall on players such as Parker and Emre on sky high wages with little guarantee of a return, knowing that given 5 or 6 games into the season and a poor start for the barcodes that uncle freddie sheppard will relieve him of his duties as quickly as he relieves himself at a brothel in marbella and blame 'Graeme' for everything and install Alan Shearer as the people's choice.

Moyes has proven time and time again that he is in this for the long-haul, he has a strategy, he is a realist and an optimist, trust his judgement and support him in his efforts, one blue is worth 20 reds, nil satis nisi optimum.
Peter Laing. West Derby. (14/07/05)

Bellamy

I've heard and read some strange stuff over the last few days since the 'Welsh Wonderboy' signed for Blackburn, firstly from that great impartial radio station of our great city (the one in the tower) about how we lost out on our major transfer target of the season, how different parts of the media said he chose blackburn over us. There was an item on your 'today emails' dated 12.07.05 from a guy saying he was glad we never got him and thought that we would all be grateful in years to come, too right on that one. But he also said he was a class player - he is NOT a class player by any stretch of the imagination, yes he's extremely quick, yes he gets on the oppositions nerves, but his record is crap.

I think he scored about 9 league goals for the bar codes in 2 seasons (that's what i read somewhere anyway) - even if I'm wrong on the amount of goals he's not class. Thierry Henry is class, Ronaldinho is Class - you get my drift. That's not to say that he wouldn't become class what with Moyesy's record of getting players to play supposedly above themselves, but lets face it the plain and simple fact of the matter is that after meeting Moyesy sometime over the weekend before last is that he FAILED A JOB INTERVIEW.

I think DM had a nice long chat with him, weighed him up and thought NO THANKS, YOU'RE NOT FOR ME SONNY. You're too full of your own self importance (if anything about the rumours of his contract at Blackburn are true then DM wa right not to touch him) In Moyes we trust!!

Roll on 29th July and the announcement that we are playing the Sh1te for the last place in the Champ League proper - Nice start to the season boys. Sure Mr Moyes would relish that one. Keep up the good work.
JG. Wavertree. (14/07/05)

athletico red shite

Blue kipper is it me, or should that dross from across the park represent Spain in next seasons champions league. beneathus seems to have a transfer policy of buying anything that's Spanish (and shite!!). My belief is that sissoko fella(who!!) never heard of him, must be crap, has only been bought to try to detract from this Spanish only transfer policy. They're just a shower of senoritas!! We are The People's Club. regards. lardyboy blue. (14/07/05)

Players Want Too Much

2 players being paid £50k per week totals up to €20,800,000 over 4 years!!! We don't want or need that sort of bills!!! unfortunately 1 season of great performances and a fabulous finish wont make up for 13 out of 15 years in a relegation battle. gotta build slow. look to sign young, potential talents from the championship who wont cost a fortune in wages and are the future of the english game (lescott, sidwell, tongue, taylor, etc). build slow with solid foundations and hopefully in 5 years we can look at regularly pushing for a cl spot!!! top 6 this year would be great. T03. (14/07/05)

The Revenge of the Shit

I’ve heard that there’s a Director’s Cut version of the last Star Wars movie, Revenge of the Sith, but the redshite feature quite a lot in it. This new version, Revenge of the Shit, should be out quite soon given the fact that the press and TV can’t do enough for the bastards, and are up them more than Peter Andre is up Jordan.

The story goes like this. After years in the wilderness, and being turned over by the likes of the Krystal Palace, Man Sity and Boro systems, the loathed Red Empire strikes it lucky and makes a comeback, with the emphasis on the lucky. The empire is ruled by the Shit Lord Rafadago, who is looking for a new apprentice. He sets his sights on the Jedi Knight Ger-Ard, who was at one time a good guy pictured in an Everton shirt holding the League Championship. Of course, Rafadago should be well out of the picture anyway, but he has made the UEFA Republic change the rules to suit himself and the dark side. Everybody else can fuck off, he thinks.

Against the Dark Lords of the Shit we have the good guys. There is the leader of the Jedi Council, Master Voda Fone, who was once the leader of a mighty empire called the ManUres, but is now fading from the scene and is prone to turning purple during times of stress. He has his own apprentice, Davie One, who is obviously going to take over from Voda as the Master in the very near future. Voda can foresee this, but doesn’t mind – “Red hair he has, and care we don’t” is the way he looks at it. Davie One also has a droid helper, who can only move back and forward in a straight line, constantly being caught out of position when needed most. This, obviously, is R2Nay Smith. Davie One can cope with that, though, because last season the Fourth was with him.

As time goes on, Ger-Ard starts to turn towards the dark side – except that he can’t seem to make his mind up. Today the Jedi, tomorrow the dark side, Jedi, dark side – well you get the idea. The Shit Lord Rafadago puts a doubt in Ger-Ard’s mind, telling him that if he too becomes a Lord of the Shit, together they can rule the Galaxy of Europe. Ger-Ard has trouble with this because in the first place the Shit couldn’t even rule the Galaxy of Liverpool let alone Europe, and in the second place, he thinks Rafadago is a twat. This is a view shared by Master Voda - “Yes, make no mistake, twat he is” – and he should know, having taken 6 points from the Shit in the previous movie about the Shit Lord’s attempt on the Premiership – “Episode 2: Attack of the Clowns”, as it was called. (You may remember the previous Lord of the Shit called Frogeye from this prequel).

But now Master Voda’s powers are failing and he is relying on Davie One to rid the Galaxy of the Dark Lords. Voda even has the piss taken out of him by General Rio, who has difficulty in remembering to turn up when it’s due to be taken out of him, ironically enough. Ger-Ard has well turned (eventually, now the bastard has finally made up his mind), signing up for another 5 years – “I just couldn’t leave this place, I love it,” he says, “Especially now that you’ve given me another 30 grand a week you daft bastards.” This is a remarkable declaration, because it’s the first sentence he has ever spoken that didn’t include the words ‘hopefully, erm..’.

It’s left to Davie One to sort the 2 Shit Lords out after Voda tells him, “Champions league, having a laugh we are”, and then fucks off in exile to the Glazer system where he will shortly lose all his influence. Davie One is left on his own to free the Galaxy, because Ger-Ard has already put R2Nay-Smith in traction with an over the top light sabre move that nobody on the dark side saw, obviously. Despite all his efforts, every time Davie One tries to bring in a replacement droid they all fuck off and sign for Newcastle or Blackburn. And although Davie One has had his own apprentice, Bee Tee, since January, we’re not likely to see him making a shape until next season, apparently, and only then if he keeps hold of his feelings and doesn’t lamp somebody or gets the shit kicked out of him in Birmingham.

Only Davie can save the day. Using the Fourth, he foresees a great battle with the dark side in the future, at a place called the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League. Davie One has his work cut out here because the rules of this galaxy are that the dark side must be given every assistance and piece of luck available. If something goes against them then they’ll change the rules, and they can ‘win’ a semi final without scoring a goal.

Davie One will come through for the Jedi Knights of EFC against all the odds, and will restore balance to the Galaxy, not seen since the days of the legendary Master Kendall. The dark side luck has to run out sometime, and the CL would be the best place, as you don’t need the Force to know that we’ll draw them. Revenge of the Shit – no chance, they’re second best in the city because the table doesn’t lie. This will be Davie One’s finest hour so far. Bring them on, the Fourth is with us.

For a moment, all that sounded like science fiction….didn’t it? Kevin Latham. (14/07/05)

Too Early To Tell!!!

We need to remember most people thought we’d be relegated this time last year. It was disappointing not getting Parker or Emre but Sissoko was always going to Liverpool if they wanted him due to history with Rafa. Bellamy on the other hand…who gives a toss…great player with a shitty attitude!! Everton got to 4th with heart, guts and determination and a fantastic manager in David Moyes. Bellamy doesn’t fit into that equation!!

We should all be thankful that we are in the position we’re in instead of fighting to get back into the Premiership. Imagine the conversations we would be having if last years predictions came true. There’s still a few weeks before the start of the season. Let’s get behind DM and Everton!! Let’s hope we can get players of the calibre of Andy Johnson, Sean Davis or Paul Scholes…any of these guys would eclipse the likes of those we missed out on especially Bellamy who doesn’t deserve to be called a professional football player. DM and the boys did it once…they can do it again…let’s band together and cheer the Blues to another awesome season!!!

Neil from Melbourne, Australia. (14/07/05)

Somethin Fishy

Is it me, or was there something decidedly fishy (and not in a good, Blue Kipper sort of way) about the Sissoko affair? We nearly had the deal done, than Valencia started stalling about a buy-back clause. We all know what
happened next. There is clearly a global conspiracy against Everton FC. Steve Reszetniak. (14/07/05)

Transfers

All these "alleged" world class players we are trying to sign obviously don't have the bottle to pull on a blue shirt, we don't need players like that we need fucking battlers who will give there all on the pitch no matter how much de niro is offered. Alan stubbs is a fucking ledge and i proud to say he has been our skipper. Good luck with whoever you sign for we wouldn't be were we are today without you ! Malc the blue. (14/07/05)
