We Hurt Because We Love The Club So Much I've read the recent emails regarding our debacle in Bucharest last week. As a lifelong Evertonian and season ticket holder i know how painful and hurt we are all feeling. But come on, we are Everton Football Club, we're still the greatest and the best. Remember our history, Dixie Dean, Tommy Lawton, Alex Young, Kendall, Ball, Harvey - Kendo and the team of the eighties, 9 League Championships, 5 FA Cups and we all know we'd have won the European Cup in 1985 ! We are all so hurt cos we love the club so much - lets get behind the team and we'll be fine, we always are. Kristian Watling. (04/10/05) Will Moyes Be Manager Next Season? I wonder if David Moyes will still be managing this club when we are in a lower division next season. Sean C, Vancouver. (04/10/05) Thanks from down under G’day. I’ve been accessing your site almost daily for just on four years. It’s a fantastic site and great up-to-date source of information, and is really appreciated. Sometimes I feel guilty about not having such a source of info available at no subscription cost, but it is why I access almost daily. Actually miss ‘Mickey blue eyes’ despite his/her rabid left-leaning extreme anti-Australian views … what great passion he/she has ! And what an inspired/fantastic choice David Moyes has been …we worry that ultimately someone as astute will follow Rooney to Manure. How can any manager such as Ferguson be awarded a knighthood, when in our humble view the primary reason for his success is having had access to so much money (is Chelsea not a good example) ? With respect most reasonable people could do it, and Sir Moyes (based on his astute purchases to date – go Aussie Tim) would create an absolute ‘superteam’ with such finances. Please keep up the really great work, and for ever - go the Toffees. And finally well done in the Ashes (its not over yet ….. and Mr Flintoff just has to have had some Australian heritage – strong, powerful, irreverent and a good ‘sport’ to boot) Mick Lyons & Joe Royle Fan since 1970 (initially from South Africa). Regards Brett Chapman. (04/10/05) I
was interested in David Moyes comments after the City game. He maintained
that he was trying every combination in an attempt to break our scoring
drought. Not quite true I am afraid. I can remember McFadden and Osman,
McFadden and Bent, McFadden and Ferguson ? Can anybody spot the common
factor ? It must be time for a change of tactics. Last season Duncan Ferguson
was brought on for the last 20-30 minutes in an effort to break down the
more resolute defences. This season he is being brought on after the damage
has been done. Great Support Like
many fans I was reluctant to write and "call" our great club.
Leaving aside the poor results from Christmas to our end of season 4th
where our we now? The worst thing that happened to us was finishing 4th
and European entry. Since finishing 4th all BK/DM/KW have done is look
back and tell us how well we did.......that is now for the record books. Alex Young Lounge/Car Parking I've
been a member of the Alex Young lounge for about 15 years then last year
when there was a 150% price increase I was forced to move seats to the
main stand to accommodate the corporate brigade. You all know about this
so I wont bore you with the details. Anyway I've also had a car park ticket
for Gwladys St School (£220) for 15 years also. When the renewal
didn't arrive at the end of July I wasn't unduly concerned as Everton
as so disorganised. I phoned the club to be told 'your renewal will be
with you soon'. A few days before the Villareal home game I went down
to the club where nobody from the corporate department would speak to
me personally, as I should have received a letter (I Haven't) but I was
informed the receptionist that no tickets in the Gwladys Street car park
were up for renewal as these spaces were being offered to disabled supporters.
Now that would be fair enough, if it were true, however, I think that
the increase in corporate lounges may have left Everton short on corporate
Car Parking, hence Evertonians like me, who have watched the exciting
fayre served up from Mike Walker to Walter Smith can now go and whistle,
while the fly by night prawn sandwich crew enjoy the best seats and parking
facilities. Moyesy says: "I am definitely concerned" Thank God for that I thought I was over reacting being so close to my middle aged crisis. David, Evertonians really appreciate what you have done for us over the last 3 years but I think its time we moved on to the next stage of our development. Bye David. WayneWales. (04/10/05) Moyes - Is he in touch with reality? Sadly,
another occasion when we have to question what the fuck is going on with
the Blues. All grit, determination and hard work against Dynamo. All half-arsed,
second rate, can't string two passes together against Shitteh. As, our
fond nickname for the Manc Blues derides them for being 'shitty', the
glorious Davey Moyes, comes up with great rousing comments like; It does not feel good and we are all looking for a silver lining! Not much sign as yet, but a drawer at Spurs and our luck against Chelski has to change one day! If this happens we will be singing from the nearest bars and praising Moyes. It is a difficult time but we have been here before! I really hope that fans stick in and believe our fortunes will change. We have so much talent coming back from injury. Ferrari should be put straight back into the centre. Beattie has not had chance yet so I would like to see him out in for a few successive full games its only them you can judge him. Bent, Mcfadden and Kilbane are just not good enough but we have to give them support until they are replaced. Nigel is a star but its his last season. He won't come for a ball within the 6 yard box and we need to replace the keeper. Main buys for the January slot are striker and keeper (genius I know). DM knows this but he has the poor backing from the top. Lets hope it changes. The manager is quality but the board are poor. We the fans can help make it happen. Keep the faith, keep sane and keep on believing. Forever Blue (in more ways than one at the moment)! Tony Lynch. (04/10/05) What Shall I Spend My £50 in Vouchers On? I think they had a lucky let off in view of the result. Only problem now. What to do with £50 in EFC vouchers... but then Christmas is coming and where will we be in the league table then? Mike & Viv Ward. (04/10/05) Kevin Killedbrain One things the Mackems did get right is there assessment of that utter twat kevin killedbrain. He is fucking useless. He always loses the ball which generally results in the opposition breaking towards our goal catching half our team out up the wrong end of the field. How the fuck he is constantly given a chance never mind a fucking shirt is beyond me. The team have carried him for a season and a half now when we can't afford no more passengers, if you want to know why were bottom of the fucking league look no further than him. He must train with davies as he is starting to give the ball away too easily as well. It is a measure of Moyes capabilities that he could give killedbrain a fucking three year contract. What the fuck did he ever do to deserve that? Against Bucharest Moyes should have taken killedbrain off with 40 mins to go and brought on one extra forward as we had the fuckers on the ropes but he missed the signs and left it too late till he made the change of putting Neville (who was having a great game in midfield) to left back thus wreakening our midfield and blowing our chance. Come on Davey just start doing the simple things right every fucker in the crowd could tell you what to do. Before anyone starts crying meldrew just look where the fuck we are bottom of the league and out of Europe already. Chris Simpson. (04/10/05) BE BRAVE DAVID Just switched off the City game - haven't heard any comments - but I do not want to hear that we deserved something, or there are signs that we are getting better, or a bit of luck - do not believe any of that - we are just really really bad - nothing creative - back four looked OK today - still drop Weir as soon as possible - do we know how to run off the ball - no thought of sacking Moyes but he has to start making really tough decisions - Mc Fadden just does not know anything about being on a football pitch - for me we play with 10 men whenever he plays - he offers nothing up front - Bent has done his job and must now only be a (very small) bit player - make Neville captain - get someone to move up front - get some bite into the team - no excuses - make hard decisions - we are in serious trouble - Yobo looks better than he has done for a long time - Ferrari looks good - keep Valente in for now - tell the midfield to actually try shooting from outside - or inside - the box - no excuses for me - really poor against really poor teams - City were on a bad run - Mills hasn't scored for 500 years or something - Fulham one win - Portsmouth one win - next week Spurs - Greaves to score his first goal since 1970, or someone who hasn't scored for 20 seasons - like to see a bit of fight in the team - this is not a negative moan but for those who think it will be all OK soon and we are just having a bit a bad luck - then you're the ones who will sit and accept crap - and we are really crap at the moment - we need some fight and someone to stand up and say that this is not acceptable and that we are going to do something - I love Moyes for what he has done and would never boo him BUT he is making too many tactical and selection mistakes - should have gone with real forwards today and shook their confidence - McFadden and Bent still wouldn't score if they we're on the empty pitch now - change things NOW - gamble - BE BRAVE DAVID. George - really fed up Blue. (04/10/05) More of the same at City The usual culprit; a non-existent attack force. There were some positives, Yobo, Ferrari and Neville who were firmly trumped by Mc Fadden, Bent, Kilbane and Weir, who are due for a long run on "Lost". Like all reading this message, I am so sad about our plight. For the first time since Joe Royle, we had a manager who said it as he saw it, who brought the best out of an average squad but ultimately failed to pass the acid test of the transfer market when he had the chance. We do not have a decent forward. And that is down to DM. Mike Weir. (04/10/05) PISSED OFF NOW JUST WATCHED THE CITY GAME AND AM NOW WELL AND TRUELY PISSED OFF WITH ALL THINGS EVERTON. WE CAN'T PASS, TACKLE OR SHOOT AND IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN THAT TENDS TO BE THE WHOLE IDEA OF THE GAME! BEATTIE IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. HE WILL NEVER MAKE IT HERE. MCFADDEN HAS HAD ENOUGH CHANCES TO IMPRESS AND HE TOO WILL NEVER MAKE IT. THE REST OF THEM ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. SORRY TO SAY THAT SENTIMENT HAS NO PLACE IN FOOTBALL NOW AND MANAGERS RECORDS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. SO MR MOYES ITS TIME TO GO. DAVE VIVYAN. (04/10/05) We will be here for ever Every year we believe will be the year we will get it right. Why? Sometimes we get a little more to bring home and ponder on Why? Because we are Evertonians. Thank god. The fans who pay the fee to enter must sometimes think why me lord? But hold on, we have to suffer the pains otherwise we will not enjoy the success. Moyes and crew will bring home the bacon. Stay true blues. The money made last year will give us a chance to buy the players needed. We already look stronger than last years team. COYB. John Lea. (04/10/05) Oh What a night - Late September back in 005 Awesome, exhilarating ,passionate, aggression, bonding, togetherness, fierceness, pride, The Park End back again and mainly an awakening. I thought I was over Villarreal but the pain ran deeper than I thought as it must have done for everyone inside the club. Champions League qualification gone again due to Uefa decisions caused by our closest city rivals twice. What are the odds on that happening if you thought about it back in 1985? William Hills would have thrown you out of the bookies. At the end of the Dinamo game I finally felt cleansed. The grieving was finally over. The mourning period finally finished. Deeper and more painful than I imagined. A collective outburst of emotion from all the true Evertonians at the game.( NB - I got my season ticket seats in The Park End and I recognised only 1 other person in their regular seat all around me. Those that decided not turn up should be ashamed of themselves plus they would have got a cheaper ticket. Now I know why The Park End has been so quiet during this seasons Premiership matches). Anyway it was Champions League or bust. Uefa Cup is second best and one that we do not need and I for one am now glad we can put it behind us and concentrate on the league and getting fourth again. We do not need Thursday night football in remote parts of Europe when we have tough Premiership games on the Saturday / Sunday. Champions League would not have been a problem with the exposure and revenue streams but Uefa Cup?
Let's get the squad up and running. I cannot wait until Kroldrup moves
into the middle and Van De Man takes over on the wing. Add Beattie into
the mix and we can get going towards that 4th spot. Everyone has had a
taste of the Champions League and that is where we all want to be. And
why not ? We have added quality after finishing 4th last year and now
we have more recovery time between games with still 2 domestic cup competitions
to aim for as well. Everton Vs Book a rest I have to say my hat goes off to the blue boys and the fans against Dinamo, They were amazing!! Everyone from Moyes, the fans right down to the ball boys with the multi ball were brilliant. My email is re: multi ball. Was it just me or did we look the team of last season, when we used multi ball regularly. The fans love it cos it keeps the game going. With the multi ball and the fans being loud the players have no choice but to keep going, the fact multi ball has been banned in the Premiership could be a massive hindrance to the blue boys this season. Lets get them rules changed. I cannot wait for Sunday if we play like that and win I'll walk round the trafford centre bollock naked with a sign on me saying I hate Mancs as it will mean the blue boys are back. So come on lads we know ya can do it now so lets forget about UEFA, we've had a taster and we want more. With PK, Biffa, VDM and Carsley still to come back to full fitness, this will add competition. If we stick to 4-4-2 and keep playing Faddy the goals will come from him and we can still finish in the top 6. A cup final this season anyone???????? COYB Garry Dobbo. (04/10/05) Lost - but not a laughing stock After watching the Dinamo Bucharest UEFA second leg, you won’t get any Sam Dingle or Roy Cropper nonsense from me tonight. In fact I have no rants to get off my chest at all (although don’t get me started on the criminal assault that befell Mikael Arteta). We may have been well beaten overall, but at least I can go to work tomorrow with my head held high. The second half petered out into a bit of a non-event, but nobody can fault our work-rate tonight. Everyone knows we lack quality, but at least I saw my beloved team wearing their blue shirts with pride and working their socks off. To be honest, it’s all we ask for… well almost all - a goal scored by a striker would be nice. Our problems have been well documented - and flogged to death. We didn’t get the striker everyone knew we needed, but it was still nice to see James Beattie look so fired up when he came on. The only question I can’t answer is - what is Kevin Kilbane for ? How many times must we watch him slip the ball past the right back and try to take him on the outside ... before realising he hasn’t got the legs. It’s like groundhog day - when will he learn ? Anyway, I’m getting bogged down in the negatives again. Let’s look for the positives in tonight’s performance - and build on them. Cahill and Arteta remain class acts, Ferrari looked quite promising and even Valente did okay. Forget the European dream - it’s over and we have the small matter of a relegation battle to focus the minds. I expect to see tonight’s work ethic continue into the City, Spurs and Chelsea games and help us to get some points on the board. Forget the ‘sack Moyes’ rubbish. He’s made mistakes (and some big ones) but who hasn’t ? We all know it has never been easy to support the blues for a variety of reasons (ticket fiascos, mismanagement on an almost unprecedented scale, etc), and the last few weeks have been as bad as it gets in terms of shame and embarrassment. However, now is the time for us to come out fighting - and support our great old club as we strive to climb the table. Here's to an empty treatment room and mid-table mediocrity !! Steve Smith. Culcheth. (04/10/05) Rhyl again? I
see we are going back to Rhyl
to celebrate 10 years since we won the FA cup. 10 years since we did
anything quite frankly. I have had my say about the ineptitude of the
board and when I said Moyes by saying he had the playas for a CL campaign
had become part of the problem I was deprecated for it. maybe that may
be taking the name of St David in vain but the one area where I would
not give way is on low expectation of fans. In a period when we have lost
8 out 9 p'ship games, dumped out of the CL, humiliated in the UEFA cup,
playing deplorable football (1 solitary goal in 6 matches speaks for itself)
and bottom of the table, 'fans' and this site think we should get together
in some far flung part of Wales at £15 a head to remember us winning
the cup -10years ago! No doubt Paul Rideout and Joe Royle will tell us
what a great achievement. Never mind that Arsenal since played 5 FA cup
finals won 3ce and twice done the double, Man U have won 4 titles, done
the double twice and the treble. Even our arch enemies across the park
have done a treble of sorts and won the Champions league! Stupid So
Bully thinks we're stupid, I've got news for him WE ARE stupid for putting
up with years and years of failed promises from Directors and Keith Wyness In reference to an earlier email wrote by myself about Keith Wyness and sent in to your website, I would like to point out that I copied Keith in on that email. Even though I was probably out of order in some of the things I said he actually took the time to reply to me and then again 4 times. Given the current situation and the horrible things I said I thought this took a big man to do and I would like to apologise about some of the things I said. So please publish this email on your site as people need to be applauded for the good things they do as well slated for the bad things. How many other Chief Execs would have done that? Not many I believe!!!!! Garry Dobson. (04/10/05) Just a thought From where I live, Everton are top of the league - think about it. Down under Kiwi. Ann. (04/10/05) EasyJet I'm sure many regulars to this site have had the Easyjet gag texted to them many, many times since the debacle that was our showing in Bucharest. The Mcartney gag has no doubt been bandied about too. On that Thursday night, I had to empty my inbox 4 times because of all the texts coming in. The battery was flat by about 23:00 BST. My wife was about to grab the mobile and sling it but thankfully it went quiet. Battery technology for you. I did remember the EasyJet gag though and it has stuck with me bit. An epiphany one might say. I tend to pay upwards of 150 quid per home game and on away adventures, particularly London, that can be a weekend trip at about 500 quid. A weekend in Tuscany would be about 200 quid via EasyJet. A weekend in Paris or Rome the same. A weekend in Latvia, this coming November, cost me 180 quid for me and the missus, in a 5 star hotel to boot. Malaga, Granada, Barcelona, Nice, Montpellier, Madrid Budapest, Prague, Rome ... just keep it coming. Don't get me wrong, you won't be staying in a 5* hotel most of the time but if you're like me a room is somewhere you collapse when the alcohol tank has gone to full mode. Who needs free soap and fluffy towels? I'd have liked to be watching Everton at some of these venues but what the hell. There is more to life than football and you're a long time dead. Cliche mode over. Walking through dogshit, paying a street urchin money not to scratch your or your mates car (depending on who drew the short straw), a warm (flat) Chang beer after a 20 minute wait and a soggy sausage roll, to watch a bunch of overpaid, don't' give a stuff tossers who probably earn more in a year than my Dad earned in a lifetime, does not really appeal anymore. It has been 36 years since my dad took me to my first home game. I'm giving up. I've had enough. It's not just Everton. It's football. Football is expensive and boring. There is so much to see in Europe, never mind the rest of the world and EasyJet and Ryanair do it daily from Liverpool or Manchester airport for much less than the price of a taxi or petrol, meat pie, Chang beer, ticket and curry in town. The Piazza de Novona is very nice this time of year, I read. John Bracken. (04/10/05) Can Things Get Worse? Like
every other Evertonian i am devastated by our terrible start to the season,
and i really cant think of any positives to take from any of this. It was on the cards......I told you so! I
hope David Moyes reads this! I emailed the Bluekipper site before this
season started mentioning 'a glorious opportunity' for Everton to push
forward and build for the future, now that they were in Europe and had
gained a respectable league position. I warned against complacency and
keeping faith with the old guard and 'nationwide' league players. Why
have we still got Premiership players aged 34 and 35yrs still playing
at this level.....i.e Dunc and Weir! What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail info@bluekipper.com |
