Moyesy has given the reasons for the lack of signings in the Transfer Window - Now The Fans Have Their Say

I would have like him to say more about Kroldrup; ie how the hell you spend five million on a defender without knowing he can't head a ball?
I would have liked to see a stab of pain over that rather than, 'he wasn't right for us best of luck' etc. I would like him to say "We have fired our scouts and that won't happen again" or something like that. But, Moyes is a leader and like great leaders is willing to make unpopular choices whether we like it or not. I am happy that he won't *cough, Kroldrup* pay dosh for dross.

Moyes wants to build a lean, aggressive club. No fat. I'm behind that. I was furious at the deadline but I buy into his phylo---however you spell 'phylosphofy' I think it has an 'i' in it somewhere, to be honest. I'm still behind Moyes. He infuriates me during the transfer window. And at other times. But as a fan I feel I would run at a wall for the man. Of course I wouldn't go through it, that would be silly, but I'd take a good run at it. I would have to imagine the players feel the same for the most part and that is why we...why we...are almost up to mid-table. Gad that looks depressing but he's the man for us. Kenyon Ledford. USA. (10/02/06)

The way I see it is we've got to trust what Moyesy says. This is the man who has given us the best season in years, followed by the same old same old, followed by the very best season in years. This year can still be turned into another good year as long as 'we' stick together. In January Moyes got rid of a striker who can't finish, can't make intelligent runs (seems to lack any footballing awareness) and even stopped working for the team. We still managed to make a 400% profit on him. We sold a defender unable to adapt to the Premiership for a 34.5% loss. Moyseys pride must have taken a bit of a beating for this decision, but it shows that Everton is first and foremost in his mind. That, all in all, seems like good business to me. The last thing we want to do is spend money just for spending moneys sake. In the eighties would 5 strikers be enough to win a title (Beattie, Ferguson, McFadden, Vaughan, Anichebe). May not be in the same class as Sharp, Inchy Gray but the numbers are there. If Moyes believes the squad is good enough to cope with pushing up the table then it's OK for me and it should also be good enough for all of us. We need to carry on turning up for all the games and lending the team the support that every Everton team is entitled to. With us behind the lads including Moyesy& his staff we can go as far as we want. For its a grand old team to play for..... Tofflucas. (10/02/06)
I'm as gutted as anyone that we haven't brought anyone in in the transfer window, particularly a quick striker. But having read Moysey's statement, unless anyone wants to call him a liar, and I certainly wouldn't, then you've got to shut up about the reason being no money and just accept Moyesy has stuck to his guns. Just pray Vaughan comes back fighting fit soon, and Andy Vandy - and Moyes plays them. And give Kenwright a break. Moyesy says he's been given the money so lets not have a go at Blue Bill about it. Blue Zeppelin. (10/02/06)
I congratulate David Moyes for being forthright, and Having the bottle to inform the fans of recent events in the transfer market. What I am puzzled and concerned about is, how he expects things to be different in the summer?

In my last email to Kip, I pointed out that there was a World cup on, and any player who is outstanding will immediately have an inflated price on his head. So once again Everton won't pay over the odds! Oh! and it he has to be the right type of player that fit in. My arse! David Moyes is so full of sh_t, and with the attitude that he refers to in his explanation to the fans, the retirement ages for Dunc/Weir/Stubbs and Martyn are going to be well into their 60's, and we'll probably be in the Zingari league!

The explanation to the fans is an insult to their intelligence! So cut the bull_hit, and do what you are paid to do! Bring success to this club. We don't want your sob stories! We want to watch decent players, playing football as it should be played! None of this 4-4-1-1 tactical crap! Mal(trueblue) but not holdings! (09/02/06)

So the red S***e sign Fowler. We get Stubbs. Moyes unlike Raffia didn't spend £50 million on strikers who are useless. So who made the best deal? Anne H. North Wales. (09/02/06)
Is there a hidden agenda? When 40,000 people can see we need a striker what do we do in the transfer window ? Sell our back-up striker ( for a goodish fee admittedly) but why sell him until someone better is available? Is it true that Davey finally green lighted a 3m offer for Nugent at 5 o'clock Tuesday as the rumours go? Only to be told to stuff it by the Preston Chairman. Why wait, did we really think we could get him on the cheap on the last day when PNE are in with a good shout of promotion? I like Moyes and consider he's a decent coach but sometimes his handling of the transfer market leaves me totally baffled, frustrated and angry.

If we have more injuries (Beattie/McFadden etc) we are more likely to drop down the league than push on towards the UEFA(ish) places and the prize money alone would cover the cost of a striker from say 8th down to 14th = 6 places i.e. £3m in dosh!! Thanks to that stupid scottish twit we are already a striker missing for the next 3 games! God Everton, don't you just love them, that in the middle of a good run of results they can still dominate your emotions and thoughts with how bloody inept they are. UpperBullensBlue. (09/02/06)

Apparently this is now definite - not a rumour! Everton's main summer transfer target is widely expected to be world superstar....Fou Call. His agent says: "Everton are 99% certain to sign Fou Call in the summer transfer window." EFC say: "We're defiantly interested in bringing in Fou Call." Mosey has been handed a war-chest which would allow him to sign Fou Call. Danny - Belfast. (09/02/06)
If Kenwright does not start supporting David Moyes with proper financial backing it is only a matter of time before another club matching his ambition comes looking for him,and if he were to go it will be the end for efc as are better players cahill, Yobo, Arteta and Beattie will start looking at there futures also we need proper investment in the club.We have gone backwards after making great progress last year, but again efc fail to capitalise on potential. To not sign a striker in this transfer window is surely down to finances and not Moyes failure to identify a target. David Moyes is the best chance of regaining our place back with English footballs elite so lets give him our backing, fans players and especially the board who seem to be hiding behind the fact that the fans are behind Moyes, so come on BK do something before it's to late. Forever Blue Mark(Spain). (09/02/06)
Just a quick note regarding Moyes' comments regarding his lack of activity in the current transfer window. Whilst some fans have been quick to acknowledge his statement as courageous I for one cannot understand the mentality behind his decision. I cannot believe that he thinks players values will decrease come this summer. He states that he knows which players he wants but they were not available or there respected clubs valued them too highly. Does this mean he thinks the clubs will see sense in the summer and drop there price accordingly, just to accomodate Evertons tight budget? The club still require a top class midfielder and a striker, just as they did last summer. Instead he wasted nearly 10 million on Davies and Kroldrup, money that the club didn't have to waste. It is so disappointing, yes results have improved, but Everton for most of Saturday were awful, once again struggling to hang onto a fortunate win. Teams like Blackburn will have a field day against us because our football is so predictable. The next two games will shape the rest of our season, sadly I think it will all fall flat. Forever Blue ( Oz ). (06/02/06)
Well the witching hour came and went without any new signings, and just to make matters worse - Ferguson goes and get sent off. The only punishment to him now must be to terminate his contract and give Victor Anichebe a chance to prove himself. On top of all this worry at the moment it's ok Moyes saying he wont pay over the odds for a player - but by signing a recognised goalscorer for say £5 million if the player scores say ten league goals there is every chance we could finish six places higher at a cost of £500,000 per place therefore paying back most of the transfer fee and if the player isn't suitable sell him for £3 or £4 million and recuperate most of the fee back ensuring we stay in the premiership, we all know what happened not so long back when we couldn't score goals - we were in the drop zone, and before anyone says its not Moyes fault but the board's wasn't it Moyes at the AGM in November saying top priority is a goalscorer, his answer to all this was to sell Marcus Bent without a replacement coming in. Perhaps now the real truth is coming out that moyes is a ditherer and cant be trusted in the transfer market, we only have to look at the players he was in for and then those players to do a u'turn and go elsewhere. I like everyone else just hopes that the wafer thin squad he's playing russian roulette with is good enough to still be in the top flight at the end of the season. [Blue till the day i die] Albert Thomas. (06/02/06)
Trust in Moyes he knows what he's doing if he hasn't signed anyone then he clearly has the players he wants. Remember when Rooney left and we had no signings? We were top 6 and safe by boxing day. He knows what he wants. Trust him. S.G. Whelan. (06/02/06)
So here we go again our manager & BK & his God of a manager feel it was better to be wise & cautious & sign no one the only two other teams who did not sign were strap cashed Villa & Newcastle Utd. They had valid reasons chairman fallouts our club we were told had the cash as we are selling players more than fetching in as we now have the smallest squad in the Premier & big Dunc was sent off last night after lasting 7 minutes! He is now out for 3 games! The players who were available in the Transfer Window - Is Mr Moyes saying not one was worth a gamble? Why even championship sides purchased! We are becoming a laughing stock how long does Mr Moyes think our threadbare squad can run around full out for 90 minutes?

Look at the Wigan and Chelsea games good first half's tired 2nd half's with backs to the wall 2nd half's. You can not blame the players they are now giving their all but they will burn out at this rate! I rate Mr Moyes as the new Gordon Lea & Mr Kenwright as a scrooge I wish Ken Bates would have come to us instead of Leeds UTD as this club needs a good kick up the backside & he does not take prisoners!. Mr Moyes is in comfort zone Uncle Bill thinks he is GOD, but I can not forgive him for this seasons antics we have moved from a strong position to a joke position & does this guy realise Evertonians were up till midnight hoping he had achieved something in the transfer market. I feel sorry for the players who will now have to run themselves into the ground for the next 16 games for this NUMPTY & the loyal fans who will have to watch & depend on 1-0 wins
or 1-1 draws or heavy defeats.
I now am of the feeling Mr Kenwright has to go & take this tight fisted unknowledgeable manager with him as we are a becoming a joke. REMEMBER EVERTONIANS EVEN IF WE END UP MIDTABLE OR A BIT BETTER OUR CURRENT DEPLETED SQUAD WILL BE COMPLETELY KNACKERED & THE FOOTBALL ON SHOW IS WIMBLEDON STYLE !

I can never forgive the club for letting this guy sit on his backside & not signing anyone in the last 30 days & selling two players with a income of £5 million plus. Get rid of him & BK. I am sure Mr Gregg has a more ruthless business head on his shoulders he allegedly wanted rid of Mr Moyes when we finished 4th from the bottom Evertonians remember that achievement by the people's club manager. Last season was more good luck than judgment& now the chickens have now come home to roost the board of EVERTON FC PLEASE WAKE UP OR STAND DOWN!
AN ANGRY BLUE - JOEY sat up till midnight like a fool!
(06/02/06)

After listening to the buffoon that is Moyes the other day he came out with yet another classic comment, "won't buy someone who makes you feel good for three days". Well...I've just heard that he's in line to enlist the talents of a exceptional Czech player named 'Prozac'..according to sources the player makes you feel good all the time!!

What a clueless, inept manager we have...play with the big boys? Champions League team...good god! Steven Malone. (06/02/06)

Whatever happened the transfer window is history. BK DM and Dunc have left have left us somewhat short in expectation. It is now to US true blue fans to get right behind whatever team is sent our and give them 110% support. We do have some excellent players in the club and they will hopefully carry us through to May. Then may the Board and DM sort themselves out, get us the players required and hopefully 06-07 will be more acceptable. DM should stay on of course and with the right signings we will become a top 6 club not every other year or so but season in season out. The club is bigger than all and has to move forward with commitment and excellence both on and of the field. Alan. Runcorn. (06/02/06)

Well now we know who will be playing for Everton until the end of the season. We must and i repeat must get behind every player and Davey Moyes 100%. I e-mailed ref Kevin Kilbane a few weeks back telling the fans to get off his back, his performance against Chelsea reminded us of what he can do with a bit of confidence. So lets not moan and winge about who we could of or should of bought we haven't so get on with it, lets sell out Goodison for every game fill every away end we can, and shout and sing our hearts out for the Blue Boys i think its called siege mentality, bollocks to everyone else we are Everton. COYB. Regards. Kevin Jones. (06/02/06)
Another transfer pressing refresh on my computer for hours and another window of inactivity what the hell is going on. Batman. (06/02/06)
How naive do the 'power that be' think that Everton fans are? One transfer window after another we get "it has to be a type of player that fits in." If that's the case what happened with Kroldrup? or 'We have been looking at players but they are not available at the right price'!

The Everton board and manager are the naive ones. Why?.......... Because there is a World cup less than six months away, and there will be top quality players on show, along with some unknowns who will be breaking through. What do the Board and manager thinks is going to Happen? Any players that have a good World cup and prem clubs look at or attempt to buy them, will have their prices upped massively...............so there will again be excuses from Everton, and they are taking their fans as 'mugs'.

With only a 12/15 player squad and 5 of these over the age of 30, how on earth are Everton going to bring the 8 to9 players to this club, with their current attitude. With the exception of Cahill/Arteta/Yobo/and Beattie (Nige Martin has been great but he's too old)...........the rest of our squad is 2nd rate! The remainder can run around, put the odd tackle in, and stand on the edge of our 18 yard area(half the crowd could do this).

We are going to survive this year, but my message to the fans is this........be wary......very wary of buying a season ticket for next season, b4 you know who they have actually signed.

In fact I would go as far to saying, do not buy a season ticket, until the current board splash the cash from THEIR coiffeurs first. This will ensure that, if they don't have the players in b4 you buy a season ticket. The only way to make the Billy boy and Wyness, splash the cash is to force their hand! Without pre-season tickets sales they are F_ked!

Mark my words Kenwright and Wyness...........you are on borrowed time! Everton fans want sustained success, so if you won't spend, get out and let somebody in who will! I'll tell you what........When I win the 125 Euro millions on Friday, I'll be down there kicking your ass..........If the board won't bring the good times back, I will! God help us if you lot get hold of 125 million...........we'll have a nice new stadium...........and no F_ckin players to put in it! Mal (true blue) but not holdings! (04/01/06)

I have to admit I do agree with the thoughts of WayneWales and Joey who are obviously hardened Evertonians who, like many of us, are disappointed with the lack of new faces during the transfer window.

Maybe our run is papering over the cracks and maybe we should have signed one of either Nugent, Trundle or Ernshaw but lets be honest things are a lot better than they were at the beginning of the season. This of course doesn't hide the fact that DM has been responsible for some dodgy dealings in the transfer windows as well as offering some players contracts we would rather have seen pushed out the door however not all his signings have been poor and the recent upturn in results has seen us staring to win matches for a change and I for one am all for that.

Many have mentioned our style of play and how it isn't exactly 'the school of science' anymore, well I agree, it may not be pretty but at least we're hard to beat these days. Nice passing free flowing football is all well and good when its working but when your down in the shit like we have been then maybe its time to play to your strengths. This means the players and the managers strengths. If all Moyes knows is the way we are playing at the minute and it keeps getting us positive results then fair enough, I'll take that.

Would signing Nugent, Trundle et al have been of any benefit? Trundle is a great striker but at 29 and playing at a level well below the Premiership would he have been worth it? Nugent is obviously a talent but at £4m maybe that was to much for an unproven 20 year old. However as I have said in previous posts transfers are always a risk and perhaps DM is finding that having burned his fingers with a few transfer gaffs he wasn't going to take the 'risk' with Nugent. Rob Ernshaw on the other hand may have been worth the gamble. He scored quite a few for West Brom last season when they struggled and although, like our current style of play, he may not be easy on the eye with some of the things he does in games he does score on a regular basis and he has great pace. Marcus has gone, yes he scored on his debut, yes it was against Chelsea, he was dynamite for us for most of last season but at £2m possibly rising to 2.5 I think it was value for money on the strength of some of his more recent form and goal scoring prowess.

Dreaming of the old days is something many of us probably do on a regular basis. Remembering the great sides and styles of the past is all well and good but we must put it in context. To play great football you must have great players, to get the great players these days you need a lot of cash. We are no longer the 'Merseyside Millionaires'. Our transfer record is £6m. That's not a lot these days considering West Ham paid £7m+ for Ashton, Newcastle £17m for Owen, City £10m+ for Anelka Fulham likewise for Marlet etc etc. We must play to our strengths. This doesn't mean we have crap players and should just be roughing other teams up but it does mean we should be competitive, close down, go 4 - 5 - 1 if needed, whatever it takes to win.

Having said all that it still doesn't mean i'm not pissed we didn't sign a striker!!! COYB!!! Shep. (04/01/06)

This is a situation that is most distressing, firstly a desperately depleted squad has stayed a depleted squad but the problem doesn't stop there. We are talking about the manager who can buy Tiny Tim for what can only be described as bargain of the century, the same manager that brings in van der Meyde, Joey Yobo and Neville (he is good you all have to admit it) and then brings in utter pap like Simon Davies and Per Kowpat. How long are we going to last in the premiership if he can't master the shark pool that is today's transfer market. Dav, Wallasey. (04/01/06)
The Man is the Boss. and knows what he is doing.(Kroldrup, not include). We want players who want to play for Everton Football Club, not just gold diggers chasing a buck. Remember good things come to those who wait. A Blue Forever. Caeroe. (04/01/06)
Just a little comment to all Evertonians out there who still believe what we are told from our board and manager ! We can all have a laugh when we hear the story "there were no players to sign" etc. etc. Have a look around and even Moyes will have to accept that it´s not true. What makes me angry is the "Kroldrup" stories , that he was not settled he couldn´t head a ball etc. I live in Denmark I am danish as well and could I have a pick between Tommy G or Kroldrup I would go for Kroldrup every time. He is a very good defender. 2 days before his transfer I read the latest interview (in Jyllands Posting) with Kroldrup where he stated : I love Liverpool (the town not the shite (in fact he has hated them since childhood) I love my teammates and I love the fans … I just don't understand why the manager won't let my play …….!!!! Being placed 9 times in a row on the subs bench without getting 1 minutes football can take the self believe out of every body …… Fact is Kroldrup (and probably more) where brought in for the Champions League money we never received ……. He had to go so better not let anyone have a look to see he was much better than the likes of Weir and Stubbs… What makes me sick is the fact that www.evertonfc.com didn't even have the guts to tell us he had left. The club was in talks with Fiorentina according to the official website …… 24 hours early Kroldrup's move was announced in Danish Television where his only comment was that he looked forward to playing football. 10 days after returning to Italy he has now played more first team football than he did at Merseyside …. But again Moyes only had him watched around 10 times so I'm happy Moyes won't bring players in if he is not sure they are better than what we have got ….. I hope there were just 1 player better than the 3 academy players on the bench against Chelsea … remember Moyes said after the match that they were not ready …….. Couldn't he have found 1 player ??????

NSNO (????) I will be back at Goodison for the Blackburn match …. Hope we have a striker. Poul - true blue Denmark. (04/01/06)

Same promises every year. We lack ambition ,this statement is to try and satisfy us the fans - how do we know this true? We pay our hard earned cash to support Everton home and away and yes we are surviving - but we want more, a Cup Final ,Europe and to beat the shiiiiiite! A poor 2005(take the year as a whole) performance on the pitch check the stats - don't reply by saying we were fourth - we did not play well all year and in the last 2 transfer windows have failed to bring in a striker again check the goals scored.

Anyway lets hope the players carry on 2006 as it started - Well done lads. Great site. COME ON EVERTON. Rich. Season Ticket Holder. Top Balcony
. (04/01/06)
What a complete and utter load of shit! Fuck off Moyes you must think that we are all thick as fuck to believe that cock and bull story! You had from the summer to get the wheels in motion for the transfer window and get deals done ready to sign, we knew, and you knew you needed players months ago. You just dither too much and you will pay for it in the long run.

I for one, am getting sick of this bullshit that constantly comes from Everton Football Club. But again I will let my heart rule my head and still go the game, but there is only so much we can take. Why don’t you fuck off to Newcastle Moyes. Ron. (04/01/06)

I think it takes great courage to do what Moyesy has and write a note like this so hats off to him. I also think he speaks the truth. When you listen to your head and not your heart you have to believe that they tried and that the right options probably weren't there. I do think that maybe a loan striker was needed to cover numbers but I can totally understand why he sold the players he did, the money was defiantly good. Lets just hope the summer provides something good and that we can attract the right players. In Moyes I trust! Jody (Southampton). (04/01/06)
How the f*ck can a club like Everton not purchase a new striker in the transfer window?? We need a striker to partner Biffa up front. McFadden isn't the answer, Dunc's a legend but not the answer (great fight by the way..has he ever lost?), and Vaughan's out. Selling Bent wasn't the answer but at least we should have bought someone with his and PK's dough? How can clubs who have been relegated like West Ham pay out 7.5million for Ashton and we can't scrape up 3-4 million for Nugent. We're f**ked if Beattie gets a big injury!! At least our Midfield always look threatening with Tim, Mikel and Leon getting back to their best!! It's embarrassing to see our only signing was Stubbsy!! Why didn't we move earlier for Fattih Tekke instead of leaving it til the last minute?? And as for Anelka, get your head out your arse yeah red prick, you were never in Moyesy's plans....he was taking the piss ya sulking French twat!! Blue Forever....LW. (04/01/06)
Despite being unbeaten in 2006 we are not out of the woods yet. We need forty points. Like so many Evertonians I received an e-mail from the club telling me that tickets for the City game are still available. It went onto say in the e-mail"AND NOW THE PLAYERS ARE KEEN TO CLIMB EVEN FURTHER WITH A EUROPEAN BERTH STILL A TARGET." The only way we will get into Europe is through the tunnel. The facts are that fans are disappointed to put it mildly. Twenty four thousand for the Millwall game, four thousand of which were Millwall fans. For the first time for a few years tickets are available for most of the away games. Prior to the start of this season the powers that be were scouring the treatment rooms of other clubs for their clapped out has beens. Kroldrop required surgery before his limited playing time. VDM fine player that he may be is no use to us when he spends so much time in the treatment room. Was it David Moyes or David Blunkett who gave the final nod on Kroldrop's agents video? Never in over fifty years of supporting the club have I ever heard a club captain apologise for so many inept performances. Irrespective of how much blue blood courses through our veins and not forgetting that we are blue forever it is imperative that the Scottish mafia get it right during the summer and not on the last possible day on the transfer window. We need inspirational signings before we get conned again for £420 season tickets. Moyes said this week that he did not believe in signing a player and not liking him three days later. He needs to understand how it feels to cough up hundreds of pounds and hardly ever see your team score. It is our inherent right to give criticism to the club when it does not deliver. I accept that we can not win all of the time and that from time to time there will be better teams than us but face it this has been a season that promised so much and has never hit the heights. How long is it since we last beat Chelsea? They are ripe for a turning over. To win the replay with a blood and thunder gutsy all round performance would go down a storm with all Everton fans. JACK WARNER LIFELONG BLUE. (04/01/06)
