Yobo

Could somebody tell me why EFC should consider £3 Million for Joey Yobo from the Arse after we paid FOUR AND A HALF £MILLION for him.
Once again an Everton player shows his commitment to the club by "letting us know in the summer" I think that can only mean one thing.....don't you BLUEKIPPER? Blueernie. (11/04/06)

Season Tickets

Although I think it's obviously great news that the season ticket prices have been frozen, I find it strange that the student season ticket has become 16-21 to "avoid discriminating against those not in further education". So Mr Wyness in his infinite wisdom has avoided discriminating against people who could be in full time work and on wages by discriminating against people not earning?! My degree will run past the age of 21 so I'm expected to pay full price for my ticket while not earning while somebody in full time work and on a salary gets a reduction?!Something wrong there Bully-sort it! Tozzles. (11/04/06)

Get Behind Moyes- 3 months on

I e-mailed back on the 4th January stating that Moyes will turn the corner and lead us up the table, three months on I like to think that I have been proved right. Such has been the turnaround that we are disappointed that we will not be in the UEFA cup next season. Signings such as Beattie & Arteta are coming good. Osman & Hibbert are improving too.

I was at the Valley on Saturday to see the 0-0 draw and to be fair it was awful. Now that the chance of european football looks out of reach I think it is time now for Moyes to look towards next season and blood are young goalkeepers, Ruddy & Turner. The only way for them to get premiership experience is to play games. Richard Wright has not got a future at Everton, and that was before the howler on Saturday. So there is no harm in giving these young keepers some experience. I know that there is £500,000 riding on every league place but if these keepers make the grade in the future then it will save the club splashing millions on proven goalkeepers.

With next season in mind, Moyes & the board must decide where they want the club to go. We proved last season that we can mix it with the best and as an everton fan I want last season to be the norm and not a one off season. It is time to get rid off the dead wood:

Richard Wright: Thanks for the effort but you just isn't good enough
David Weir: Legs have gone & has no pace. Against West Ham at Upton Park he got outpaced by Ashton who is not the fastest.
A Pistone: He is a liability. Can't defend
Duncan Ferguson: As much as you are a legend your best days are behind you
Kevin Kilbane: Too inconsistent. Not part of the future

With that said the question is: who do we try to bring in?. I think we do need a young proven goalkeeper to compete with both Ruddy & Turner. I would like to see Robert Green of Norwich come to Goodison. He won't cost a fortune either. At the back we need one or two centre backs. Why not bid for Robert Huth or/and Matthew Upson. I would like Moyes to try and bring Ian Harte back from to Spain to play left back. I know his defending can be suspect at times but he can still take a mean free kick and we have not had anyone with a lethal left foot since the days of Andy Hinchcliffe.

Midfield needs to be improved too & if there is any chance we should try to bring back Gravesen. Up front will be the main focus & we are crying out for somebody to partner Beattie who can stick it in the net week in week out . Andy Johnson would be a great signing & I think that if we buy Nugent from Preston in time he will prove to be a good signing and remember that young Vaughan will be in the frame next season too.

As an Evertonian I want to see us competing for the major honours every season. In today's football world the only way to give yourself a chance is to have a wealthy benefactor. This does not guarantee success but it gives you a chance. If Kenwright can't provide the funds then he should find somebody who can so we can't take this club back to the top. Moyes is an ambitious manager & I think he is an excellent manager and there is a danger that if the board don't match his ambitions then he might consider going to a club who does. It's worth pointing out that Moyes has been at Everton for 4 years and if we finish in the top 10 this season then he would have finished in the top 10 three times in the past four seasons, and for a club that has spent almost the best part of 15 staving off relegation that in itself is progress. Moyes has worked miracles so far on a tight budget. Imagine what he can do if he had £20-£30 million to spend? Chris Perez. (11/04/06

Harry E Cooke

Just found a great photo of my great uncle Harry Cooke with the 1930's team, sent in by Paul ? who's girl friend had found it with some other pics of Liverpool. I have been trying to find out more about Harry as I research my family tree, but considering he spent such a long time at Everton stuff seems thin on the ground. This is a wonderful original photo from 1930 and he is standing next to Dixie Deen. I have only recently found out he had a son W C Cooke, and that he lived in Goodison Ave, which I imagine must be practically next to the ground. Basically I would love to hear from any one connected with Harry or his son or just anyone who can tell me more about him. My uncle lives in Australia and is really quite old now but he remembers going to Everton as a lad and used to get in free because Harry was his uncle, I would love to find out more for his sake.

Season Tickets

I’m disappointed with the club about the Season Tickets because I’ve renewed mine every year but never seem to get any of the cost benefits. I’m 23 and work full time; I’m one of those who will miss out on the discount that 16-21 year olds will receive. I think it would be a better idea to give everyone the same discount providing they have renewed their ticket. I have only just about finished paying for this Seasons Ticket and I have just booked my hols for June 10th. Now the Club want us to renew earlier or lose our seats, which some of us have had for years, I will struggle to pay for mine in that time now. I think a little more notice would have helped for people in the same situation as me that’s all. Best Everton site on the net by the way! Kind regards, Damien. Lower Gwladys. (11/04/06)

Taxi for Richard Wright

I've just come back from that game, (missus lives in serf London) sod the draw, I've saw that bollock he dropped with the ball, I felt sick. If Burley wants him in Southampton, I will pay any costs and drive him down there myself. He's a clown, get rid and get rid ASAP, makes us all look bad, cut out the rot. COYB!!!!! Blue til I die. Rich Welsh Blues. (11/04/06)

Frustration From Fans

Just a quick response to the last few postings, clearly frustration and apathy at what we’re seeing on and off the pitch is setting in amongst the fans. John Andrews makes a valid point that Stubbs is playing out of his skin and that Weir, whilst clearly 100% committed, is past his sell by date and a recall for Yobo was required. Any player committed to his club would have seized this opportunity to reclaim their rightful position in the team, but not Yobo, his performance against arguably the worst attacking side in the premiership was inept. If he is imagining himself in the Arsenal team after a display like that then he is delusional, I still haven’t forgiven him for the pass to Rio, Room, Ron, the kid from Croxteth on the first day of the season. In fairness he was’t alone against Blunder land but Yobo’s display typifies the type of player we don’t need at Goodison, yes we need players with ability but this must be accompanied with the desire to give 110% when they wear the illustrious blue shirt; it’s a simple enough formula, look at the overall performances of Stubbs, Valente, Hibbert, Cahill, Neville, Arteta and Beattie this season, there’s the backbone of a half decent side there so if Arsenal want to make an offer for a player that ism’t committed then lets have the money and get someone that meets the criteria. As ever we need to strengthen our squad but it really is frustrating listening to a list of unproven or journeymen players being associated with our famous historic club. Everton constantly give the impression that we lack ambition, I listen in disbelief to statements like the one made recently by Glen Roe der that he ism’t surprised that a club like Newcastle is being associated with the possibility of signing Ronald, Newcastle!!! Don’t make me laugh I’am forty six now and they haven’t won a thing in my lifetime nor probably will they if I live to one hundred. But at least they aim high; I’d have had Nob by in our side no bother.

There’s an old saying that you should reach for the stars as you could get the moon, well we’re not even reaching for the sky at the moment which leads me on nicely to our goal keeping dilemma, Douglas Bad er could do a better job for us than Icky Wright, we know it, the players know it, in fact everyone knows it. Don’t get me wrong I think Wright wants to play but he has proven time and time again that he ism’t good enough and now is the time for David Moyes to put Iain Turner in the side and sell Wright to Southampton at the end of the year. In the long term we need to anchor that backbone with a world class keeper, someone like Carlo Cuisine would pay for himself over the course of a season, it’s £500,000 a place ism’t it so the extra expenditure would be self-financing. I think Moyes, being a Scot, is sometimes a little cautious; I’d like him to try a few of our youngsters from time to time, Victor Anichebe, looks an excellent prospect, I’Ave only seen him once this year but he looked a real handful, perhaps a few more outings would’t harm his development. We haven’t seen the best of Van der Meyde yet and let’s hope things improve for James Vaughan. Overall as managers go, speaking as someone who remembers Gordon Lee, I think Moyes is an asset to the club, everyone makes mistakes and he’s man enough to admit them, Per Kroldrup being one of them.

The guy from the Street end, Matt, is rightly pissed off with the performance of the team but I think he’s a little harsh putting us in the same category as Boro, Charlton, West Ham and City, those clubs have never experienced what we have at Goodison and probably never will, then again we’Ave not experienced what they have, lower division football!!! Saturday was bad; we deserve an apology for having to pay for the privilege of watching that, but the Villa game showed we can play and the Blackburn game showed that we can dig deep and fight when required. Before the Blackburn game Pinhole was widely reported in the press as saying that when he was at Liverpool most people who came up to him for a chat were Evertonians therefore most people in Liverpool must be Evertonians, maybe it’s just that your average kopite can’t string two words together to form a sentence! The knuckle scraping bastards were’t so cocky before the derby; even they thought they were in for a roasting. Our expectations are quite rightly higher so Saturday was a bitter blue, sorry blow .None of us choose to go on this roller coaster ride that is supporting Everton, but you know no matter how much you moan and complain and say “that’s it never again” you’All all be back sooner or later; it’s an affliction!!! Colin Fritz. (11/04/06)

Beattie's Comments

Juts thought I'd comment on Beattie's words on the Everton site!! "we done really well to get to where we are" "the team deserve credit" now had we reached the knock out stage of the champions league or even the group stage, or maybe had a little jaunt around Europe in the UEFA cup, perhaps it is too much to ask for a run in either if the English domestic cups, not to mention after finishing 4th last term (luckily) but 4th non the less we might have shown a bit more fighting spirit all year? not just the last 2 and a half months! you don't get credit for a bit of a run!! we bottled it against the shite and were dire against the Mackems bring on Charlton??
You have to earn credit, and while we have done well to drag ourselves out of that position, we should not have been there to begin with!! Lets forget about this season, try and keep some of our best players (Yobo, Cahill, Arteta) cos the vultures gonna come swooping for them! and try and add some real quality to our side!!!! for the love of god! its high time we move on to the next level now before the next level moves on from us!!!!! ( whatever that means ) Matt (season ticket holder Lower Gwladys). (07/04/06)

Dickie

I was unfortunate enough to be at the Sunderland game, but I can't agree with you more about the sarcastic cheers from some of our 'fans'. Dickie has come in for stick, and he may not be ideal, but he's all we have at the moment so lets get behind him!! Jeering him isn't going to help the poor lad!! COYB!!!!! Kevin Dace. (04/04/06)

Sunderland

Saw the game on Saturday and we were poor – but the biggest disappointment was the crowd- they never got going despite the boys taking an early lead. No wonder the team went to sleep. Sunderland fans made far more noise even when they were behind. We need our “twelfth man” to make the most of home advantage. Come on Gwladys! Rob H-J. (04/04/06)

Contract & Yobo

How can David Moyes be surprised that Joey Yobo has not signed a new contract ? He was Everton's best central defender before he went to Africa and probably still is on his return although Alan Stubbs is playing out of his skin. However he now has to sit on the bench watching that buffoon Weir trying to keep up and wondering if he really is a worse player than our illustrious captain. There are clubs interested in Yobo and unless David Moyes finally gets shot of Weir we will lose him. What is the betting that Yobo will go, Stubbs will be allowed to leave and Weir will stay. It is good to know that David Moyes is looking at another keeper but sadly it is yet another Scottish person. A Scottish goalkeeper ? Only David Moyes would try that ! Has he never heard of Robert Green who was a member of the England squad not long ago and could be bought for a lot less than our current flapper. Doing my best to keep the faith but fear I am fighting a losing battle. John Andrews. (04/04/06)

No Freeze Here

Season ticket rip off ....My lad's ticket hasn't been froze. His ticket has gone up from £209 to £272. An increase of 63 quid for a 10 year old that is ludicrous Lea. St Helens. (04/04/06)

Season Ticket Prices!

Just got back in from another dismal performance from our beloved blues!!!! to read in the programme if I don't renew my season ticket BEFORE THE END OF THIS MISERABLE CAMPAIGN!!!!!! I am gonad have to fork out another £50!! (lower gwladys) not to mention if you in the park end, £80 more!!!!! for what!!! A shower of gutless, clueless and worthless ( I could go on ) players!!! at this rate we will be paying about a grand in around 5-8 years!!!
Are the board totally clueless??? Chelsea are winning fuckin everything with world class players on display and they havin a total price freeze!! Ok I know they pay more but still don't explain our season after season inflation busting price hike to watch shit!!!!! Did anyone else no expect stead to score today??? fuckin NAP!!!! we are awful!! So what is our extra money gonad get this year?? anyone trust it in gingers hands?? neither do I .......!
This could be my last season! I have had it up to my fuckin eyeball with this money grabbing tight fisted couldn't care less about the fans club! for 30 years I been sayin "cant go on like this" but it is!!!!! I only goin now so my lad doesn't turn into a stinking murdering twat! he's gonad suffer the same fate I did!!! and follow the most ms-managed"top team" around!!! be true to your self blues!! we are fucked, finished just another boro, charlton, west ham, city!!!!!! Cheers Everton!!!! Matt ( season ticket mug lower Gwladys ) (not for long though!! )

Everton Flags

From 'Fly The Flag' index 7, why oh why did the Walnut Blues not notice that there was a traitor on a pre-season reconnaissance mission in amongst them? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Collina behind the flag just above the 'W' contemplating a lucrative retirement maybe after just one more game? Gwladys. (04/04/06)

All Things Bright and Beautiful

Some good points by Parkender - 27/03/06, re: everything that can go wrong usually does. And invariably it's you and me who it affects.

I've got more problems. There's this really smelly bloke who sits in front of me and each time we attack, get a corner, score etc. he stands up and me and my two lads get the full benefit. Not been a major issue this season then, I hear you say. He's a big lad too. Weird clothes. Earrings and all that...should have been a koppite really. Still, I suppose he's someone's son and it takes all sorts. Just think I should tell him. Bit of a sensitive one that...any suggestions?

Another point I need to raise is some of our supporters' approach to equality and diversity. I'm sure the majority of us try to embrace the richness that differing cultures and religions bring to our great game (the dark side and goffs excepted). Things have come a long way but there does seem to still be the odd geezer coming out with racist expletives from the seventies. How do we eradicate this? I've tried to challenge these blokes a few times but the retort is usually "Fuck off four-eyed knobhead or you'll get it!".

So let's try this....... Just after Z cars let's all hold hands and sing "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony...." We could all be issued with songsheets on the way in and that girl from the New Seekers could lead us from a raised stage in the centre of the pitch. Oh! deep joy! Good idea or what? How do you get tickets for that "Do" in the Adelphi? Rilogs. (04/04/06)

Moyesy

In reply to matt on his 'Derby Reaction' , I would him to say who on earth he thinks would do a better job than Moyesy??? Does he really think Everton could attract a better manager and if so, could he name him and would he in fact deliver the goods given the resources at his disposal?

David Moyes is not infallible. He does make mistakes but then so does Mourinho. Lets not forget he has saved us from relegation, taken us to European level (albeit short lived this time) and if the premiership table had started in January, we would be top.

Given our finances, injuries and sheer bad luck, I don't think that's half bad.You might say it's not good enough but I believe the only thing we've got going for us in terms of hope for building a better future is consistency - building on the positives to go forward, not taking them away to start again .

Thank goodness Kenwright didn 't listen to the cry from some fans. A knee jerk reaction would have led to the sacking of Moyesy, goodness knows who brought in, and I bet we would have been still at the bottom, fighting relegation.

People are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think we could get anyone better than David Moyes. Well there's one fan here who is grateful and more importantly, hopeful. IMWT. Julie, Chicago.

Derby Reflection

I've had a few days of shite and usual persecution off the pinkies. What I would like to know is was valente fit or yobo or ferrari as I would have played these ahead of naysmith, weir and kilbane which might have allowed neville to operate in a more central position( Man u and England). Weir was woefully exposed in the first meeting with the redshite by cisse at our ground and he and naysmith looked like they were both pulling carts last saturday. Kilbane was his usual self (shite) then entered van der meyde looking just like he had fell out of aldo's bar on a sunday afternoon session and couldn't wait to get himself sent off, him davies and Kroldrup cost how much? (£10 million). It seems by this bland selection that moyes had given up the ghost before the game kicked off and goes to show yet again how tactically inept he is. The only thing that's changed since the turn of the year is our luck and I wonder how long it will be before that runs out again. We need to be signing the likes of luke moore (villa) blackstock (southampton) and I would bring jeffers back on a free but this time give him a decent run in the side like a certain scottish forward (Mc Fadden) and yes I would still bring back Michael Ball from PSV Eindoven as he was on the verge of an England place until he was removed from the club by our previous manager. Best wishes to Evertonians everywhere. Chris Simpson. (04/04/06)

Andy's Sending Off

Any truth that Moyes sent Van the Man on with instructions to level the score as he didn’t want to lose to ten of the shite playing eleven and Andy figured it be easier to make it 10 each than 2-2? Great site, an absolute must read daily. Steve H. (04/04/06)

Play Yobo

David Moyes must start realizing that you must start with your best eleven players. We must start with YOBO, who is the best centre half we have at the club, before he gets fed up keeping the bench warm and does one. Great Site, Neil C, Paddock Season Ticket holder. (04/04/06)

Blew it again!

Why is it, that whenever we get given an opportunity to put one over on the shite, we blow it? As much as I hate them, you've gotta hold up your hands and admit they deserved the win. We did our normal 'being overawed' routine. For the life of me I don't know why we didn't go 3-5-2 in the second half to stifle them in midfield. If it had been any other team I would have fancied the win, but even after gobshite number one got himself sent off, you still had this feeling that we would conspire to throw it away. The days of being able to bully them out of a game are long gone but we don't seem to have realised it yet. Yes, we badly missed Mikky on Saturday, but we conceded two goals while they had 10 men against 11. And did you ever get the feeling that we were the team with an extra man? No, me neither. All we had to do was force them to launch the ball to beanpole by shoring up the midfield and we'd have been laughing. Another wasted day against the shite. Alan Dempsey. (04/04/06)

redshite 'v' Blue Boys

You know what I can't stand? The redshite. They wreck my head. I hate people when they go to you 3-1, 3-1. It's stupid. Thank you. Natasha - age 13. (04/04/06)

April Fool

I heard the advertisement for this game on radio city suggesting Everton would make Sunderland April fools if we win but I hope this naive tactic doesn't backfire on us and make us the fools. Chris Simpson. (01/04/06)
