Andy Johnson

What a great signing for Everton, he will certainly take the pressure of Beattie with his pace. But he can kiss goodbye to his England career now. The way it seems, is that if you play for Everton, they don't want you in the England setup. And seems to be the same the other way round, if your good enough to play for England, they don't want you playing for Everton. We must not be fashionable enough for them. Joanne Burke. (31/05/06)

Well Done Bill

Well pleased that A.J. has decided to join the mighty blues. With Beattie partnering him and Magical Mikel, Mighty Tim and Leon supplying the ammunition, we’ll be heading towards the champions league again next year without having to qualify against a cheating Villareal this time??

Well done Bill Kenwright, David Moyes and everyone who made this transfer work. It’s going to be a good year next year. Bring on the shite, A. J. will run rings round them. Lee (Southern Blue) (31/05/06)

Anderson Silva

Last year we signed a Brazilian midfielder called Anderson Silva da Franca and loaned him to Malaga until his work permit got sorted - any news on whether he is free to join us yet? (Malaga got relegated !!!).Cheers , Steve - Runcorn. (31/05/06)

Damarcus Beasley

Everton's midfield is in need of a little bit more class. Damarcus is a USA international playing for PSV Eindhoven. PSV bought him for 2.5 mil but it's likely they'll want quite a bit more, but as long as he doesn't break the bank then he should fit in the midfield with ease. The 23 year old has 55 caps and has scored 12 goals at international level. Beasley has been selected for Bruce Arena's squad for the world cup. bgreenway. (31/05/06)

Trio

I was there for every trophy in the 80's and have a million and one happy memories from that period. I think biggest of all was being there
the night we really 'won' the title in 1985 - when we beat Spurs at White Hart Lane 2-1. They were are closest and only real rivals for the
league by that stage and they were really up for it. I remember being comfortable at two nil up and then they scored near the end. We all knew the significance - if we could hang on for a win we would go on and be champions. They threw everything at us and the only other time I can remember tension quite like it was the last twenty minutes of the 95 cup final. Nev the Cat made the best save I have ever seen live (I only saw the Banks save on TV) from a Falco header. On the Saturday I remember beating Sunderland 4-1 at Goodison with 3 of the best goals I've seen - 2 from Andy Gray and 1 from Tricky. What days! What memories! Funny blue bob hats and singing Trio, Trio, Rotterdam, Wembley and the Championship too. Yosser

Denis & Joe

Nice one lads! On a similar subject..got involved with a crowing Kopite acquaintance (I don't have any Kopite friends) down the local after the recent Cup Final. As usual, he began by announcing he was at Istanbul (must be a massive stadium..has anyone ever met a Gobshite who didn't go?). To establish the level of hanger-on I was dealing with I asked him to spell Anfield (correct, after prompting), who was the manager before Shankly (failed) and who was John Houlding (failed). I then mentioned that we'd never won the Cup by drawing the final and we have a book out (Everton FA Cup 100) commemorating our Centenary of cup wins. He, of course, ranted "wait til ours comes out irrillbe biggeranberrer than
yours..can't wait to read it". My response, of course, was that he'll be dead in 2065. Cheers. Phil deFluter

Calling North East Blues

I have just moved to the North East and i have a season ticket and i am seeking any Blues who want to share travel to the games next season. Email me terry_mccarthy1977@yahoo.co.uk and hopefully we can sort something out. Terry. (31/05/06)

Moaning Fans

I am sick and tired of reading on this site and others about how sh*t we are, that we shouldnt be happy with finishing with 11th, that we are tightwads and the club is going nowhere. Get a f*cking grip!! After the start we had, 11th is pretty f**king respectable and the people who say finishing 11th isn't good enough, nil satis an all that must have short f**king memories, Walter Smith anyone? It looks like we are gonna be getting Johnson as well, which should be applauded because we have finally put our money where our mouth is. £8.5M is a lot of money, probably too much for a player like Johnson, but sometimes you need to pay over the odds. If all goes well next season, his goals will pay for his fee and we will be moving forward. Our club is by no means perfect and the way it is run sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, but it is OUR club and instead of b**ching About Kenwright or Wyness or Moyes, get behind the team instead. If Yobo stays, which looks doubtful, and we get a new centre half (that Yaya Toure, Kolo's brother in the Ivory Coast team, looks top drawer by the way) we will have a very good team, with Tim Howard in goal as well, it looks promising. So lets look forward to the next season and not b**ch and moan like those tarts over the park!!!

AJ

listen if the rumours are true and we hav got A.J. then finally at last we have dug deep and actually acquired a man we and other clubs wanted!! I mean bolton and wigan... who r they? I know one man alone wont do! so get in some quality lads on top of the solid core we have now and lets start playing regular european footy (every year!!). I'm sick of always looking over the park and seeing there cabinet grow! CUMON YOUR BLUE BOYS!!!!!!! Richy. (31/05/06)

Brazil's Finest

Anyone any idea what happened to Anderson Silva, the lad we loaned to Malaga till he got a work permit? ThreePuttBlue. (31/05/06)

Building a Team

Whether we fork out an astronomical sum for a not really proven player is not really the point
Fact: we don't have much money
Fact:nobody seems to want to invest in us
Solution : grow your own home grown talent
how : invest all your money in an academy which will be the best in the land, employ another 50 scouts to scour the world for talent -( and pay them the best salaries ) in 5 years time you just may have a team. Anybody else got a better idea? John de Frece. (31/05/06)

Kenwright & Blue Kipper

Yes it's true folks Following my major outburst last week on our situation with money and transfers I have been informed that Bill Kenwright and his Board actually read our emails and responded immediately with an 8.5.M bid for AJ (Known to his mates ) If your reading this Mr Kenwright you also need to go and sign at least another 3 key players.

Huth Chelsea £5.6.M
Ashley Cole £ 9M
Thomas GravesEn £ 4M

That makes a total of £18.6M. Off you go then and give us what we need a Team that can compete and win something. Whilst your at it can you please sort out the future of this club by getting an investor with at least £100M and get us a new ground and some long term stability. There has to be a Russian Scouser somewhere that has that sort of cash. Find them. Sean Whelan. (30/05/06)

Doubt

I must admit that I was one of the many who doubted that the current board would actually stump up some cash for Moyesy. In a way you could almost understand -Kroldrup, Simon Davies and the re-signing of Pistone have all been, in my opinion, a complete waste of money. However, it appears that AJ is on his way - although until I see him sign on the dotted line, I will not relax. It is a lot of money, but he's got pace and has scored goals in the past. I am worried about our defensive situation though. I was impressed with Ferrari last season, perhaps his ability to pick up injuries worked against him, but this talk of a £5 million bid for Huth is, I hope, just talk. I don't rate him and would prefer Lescott of Wolves who looks like he could be a good player. I have renewed by season ticket, as I just cannot not support them, no matter how rubbish we play, they are still Everton and still my team. Perhaps we may get a few more players in the summer, all I ask for is a couple of key signing and not another four or five squad players who will just keep the bench warm. Shropshire Blue. (30/05/06)

Back In The Big Time

The news from Sky is that the deal is done and AJ will sign very soon. GREAT NEWS. What will all the doubters have to moan about now ??? I suppose they will just move on the next transfer target and start complaining about that. I was out having the odd sherbet yesterday, well it is a bank holiday, I spent most of the day arguing/discussing football mainly with the sky season ticket holders who never go to the game and mostly about the lack of ambition from EFC. What really got my goat was the evertonians agreeing with the shite especially over the AJ deal, wont spend, cant spend, don't have it to spend, no ambition, where's all the money gone ??, moyes is crap and so on and on.

The club have stepped forward and put the money on the table for AJ (8.5m) DM has got his man with the help of the board and this one deal alone should shut up all those doubters, it wont though, because the doubters will moan whatever happens. The spending has not finished yet, according to the Saturday pink echo 5.5m for Huth will not put DM off. The board must have sanctioned these deals and DM must have the funds available so the ambition is there. I will now renew my season ticket. Keep the faith. PM. (30/05/06)

Transfer Saga

Just thought I'd add my two penneth worth to the debate on the usual transfer circus that seems to engulf our beloved club about this time
of year.
Fingers crossed it looks as though AJ is about to sign. Whilst I think 8.5 million is too much for Johnson we are in desperate need of a
strike partner for Beattie. Well actually we are probably in need of another striker as well so hopefully Moyes will move to bring in someone like Nugent as well. If not, next season we have to hope Jimmy recovers from his knee injury and that Anichebe is ready to step up.

Looks as though Yobo is attracting interest from a few clubs and why he isn't one of the first players on the team sheet I'll never know. It'll
be a shame if he goes. However, if we can get 8 million for him and can replace him with say Huth and Lescott then that may be a shrewd move by Moyes. However it seems unlikely that we will get 8 million for Joey and personally I don't know anything about Lescott but if he is worth
the 5 million tag Wolves have attached to him then maybe Joey is worth 8. I think Huth would be an excellent buy and if we could get him and
Joey Re-signs that would be the ideal situation.

I heard some rumours about Nolan being at Goodison a while back for talks on a 3 million move. It would be great if we could get Nolan but
I am taking this story with a pinch of salt and surely if Nolan was to move anywhere the fee would be significantly higher than 3 million. I think Howard is an excellent loan signing and we could get AJ, Huth and Nolan I think the team would be significantly strengthened. Keep up the good work with the site and here's hoping to an England victory in the World Cup. Thanks Martin
. (29/05/06)

Johnson

It's been said countless times on this website and amongst us blues in this city and around the world(yes, you are not the only ones with a fan base abroad red shite!!) but we have simply got to do our utmost to get A J.It is true that up to a certain point we are being held to ransom over the fee, but trust me in the long run Everton football club will reap the benefits from forking out 8.5 big ones on him as he is probably one of the better strikers with pace who regularly finds the back of the net and causes the oppositions defence problems and that has been lacking since a certain mr radzinski fucked off to Fulham and is sorely lacking in our team.

Just imagine A J and Beattie up front together wreaking havoc in the premiership for the blues next season(at the time of writing it looks hopefully that he wants to come to us) and hopefully this will encourage our midfield to play some of the more fluid passing ball to feet football that we know we can play and get rid of the ale house football we have been known to play. With Arteta and Cahill running the midfield and Ossie playing some killer balls through to our strikers my mouth is already watering at the prospect of more neat intelligent football being played at Goodison next season
. Lorna. (29/05/06)

Cheer up blues

Will everyone cheer up, all this talk of sack the board, missing millions and people not taking their season tickets for next season. Money has been put towards the team last season and this season by the looks of it 8.5million bid for AJ accepted. Most of the transfers last season didn't work out has they should of done but the board backed Moyes so lets hope he is more successful this term or we will be in the shit.

If AJ signs I can see a good partnership developing with Beattie with young Victor and James as cover let Mc Fadden go back north where he will look like a world beater until he plays quality opposition.

In midfield we are ok if AVDM can get fit and stay fit, Arteta the best Spanish player in the premiership and worth forking out on a season ticket, A free scoring Tim Cahill with the rest competing for 1 place and cover. Ok a new midfielder would be nice but I just can't see us having the cash.

In defence is were we need a couple of players, a new centre half is a must Wolves have turned down a bid for big fod Lescott but we need to know whats going on with Yobo. If he goes we need 2 centre halves and they don't come cheap, with Stubbs as cover with possibly Weir with hopefully Mark Hughes making the step up. At fullback with Hibbo and Valente we are alright with enough cover with Neville and Pistone and Nace, and I thought Valente was outstanding after he settled in.

In nets I would of given Iain Turner his chance with Ruddy as cover and saved on Howard's wages but what do I know.

So come on lets be positive what else are we going to do on a Saturday, sat in Asda carpark listening to the radio whilst the wife is spending your season ticket money.
John Williams. (28/05/06)

The Future

It’s time for Everton to decide what the future holds – the premiership is changing dramatically season upon season, it’s not just Chelsea and Man UTD and the rest of the usual suspects with serious financial clout, it’s now teams like Wigan and Portsmouth. We are faced with a situation where we will be squeezed out of the premiership if we are not careful, and the board needs to seriously listen and take notice. There is no doubt that Andy Johnson represents the best that is currently available in a the market, in a position which for us it is critical that we fill – I agree with my fellow supporters when I say that I would rather have two quality additions to the squad in the form of Tim Howard and Andy Johnson, and like my fellow supporters I don’t understand the reports coming out of Goodison that they cannot afford him, particularly if we search a little harder in the lower divisions, as we did in Tim Cahill’s case, to fill the other positions that we need – our number 1 priority is goals though, if we want to remain a premiership team – this time the board needs to get it right. Owen Rees. (27/05/06)

Call me a cynic!

Did anyone else notice the subtle hint on the Official Everton site page with regards to the 8.5 million bid? - namely a link to 'renew ur season ticket' - is this all another of Kenwrights gimmicks ?? Let's see if talks break down !! Paul. (27/05/06)

Johnson

Perhaps when this is put up johnson will be pictured wearing the royal blue of aristocracy not the red of the common folk but I'm going to make my point anyway. Its just a small point (that i will no doubt drag out!) after the cock ups over the past few seasons where the blues go after a 5 - 8 million pound player (such as alan smith two seasons ago, kuyt last season, cole many years ago and ravenelli even further back!!) We always lose out and the board put it down to extortionate (not sure its spelt rite) wages, or personal reasons , etc ,etc, conviently though the saga has just gone on long enough for a few more hundred fans to believe the saviour has finally come to drag us from relegation/ midtable mediocrity back to our rightful place in the top six and even higher. These fans believe the board is on the verge of securing a bright future for the blues, while i desperately want to believe that this is true and we will sign johnson who will bag 20+ goals along with beattie chipping in with his fair share and we qualify for europe but i just have a gut feeling that this is another ploy to secure a few more season tickets (and no doubt if we fail to get johnson we will be able to take away that bitter taste of defeat with the wonderful news that season tickets have surpassed all previous totals!).

I hope I'm wrong i hope johnson wont go to portsmouth, bolton or wigan (a rugby playing town beating one of the founding members of the greatest game in the world to a bright talents signature, there is so much wrong with that!) however despite me wanting johnson here my my cynical cant help but fail to notice that on the everton website (26/5/06) the story about or offer for AJ being accepted, i believe again until i scroll to the bottom of the story and their are two links for how to renew your season ticket!! this just makes me believe that we will get feed another few lines when Johnson is pictured in Fratton park/ The JJb/Reebok stadium (take your pick). I am not saying don't renew your season ticket because the blues need our support but i am saying don't believe everything the board says i believe they have morale's and have a plan to take us forward, I'm just not sure that they want to use them.

Also may i just finally add good point by mark jones (25/05/06) youth is the future, we ain't chelski so lets go in house for our players even the lower leagues look at players such as bullard and sidwell clubs are paying 3-4 million for them when 2-3 seasons ago they could of been picked up for a the equivalent of ballacks wages per week!! whats that famous saying "you don't win anything with kids?"
CHRIS WRIGHTY86 (BLUE 4EVER!) (31/05/06)

Andy Johnson

I'm a born blue and have a Southampton season ticket. Buy Johnson for God's sake - he is class and by far the best striker I've seen in the Championship this season. For God's sake not to the Pie eaters or the Reebok? Moyesy please listen to me? Craig Findlater. (27/05/06)

Fancy A Dance?

Why do we bother going after these big money signings when its obvious we haven't a pot to piss in. It's like going clubbing and going after top looking birds and mumbling 'fancy a dance', as some Lanc chancers get stuck in with the lyrics. If we go for a player, lets really go for it, with some proper moves. Lets face it we can't Afford AJ, we can't afford Lescott, and stop wasting our f**king time raising our hopes. Fat knacker Keith just come out with it, we have no cash, so lets start discovering players from lower leagues who can do the business (someone like Bullard, another Cahill or even a Trundle!) or start getting the Hughes's and Antichebe's in the startling 11. This is like some horrible deja-vous, and we'll finish the pre-season with jug eared Jeffers, Dave Wier's mum, a proven international striker in Brian McFadden all signed the day before the season kicks off. Ben Cook. (27/05/06)

4 Left Backs

On reading most of the views from the last couple of weeks - one thing is clear with our club - something is drastically wrong. Whether it be financial, our transfer policy, our policy on youth team players or just our basic football tactics on the pitch!! It seems between a combination of Moyes, Wyness and Kenwright something has got to give. The perfect example of the way our club is run is summarised by our "left back" situation last summer. We needed a new left back, which was clear - hummed and harred (typical dithering Davey style) about who to sign, looked at Valente several times, thought otherwise about signing him initially, we then panicked about letting Naysmith & Pistone go (why oh why didn't we let them go) - resigned both of them - then decided to sign Valente and and also Phil Neville! So in essence we signed 4 left backs in the close season. Shambles?? I think in our heart of hearts we all know the answer to that unfortunately. Adam (disillusioned blue). (27/05/06)

Why no investors for Everton FC?

Mr Bill Kenwright {no Money} total control of our famous club! He is out of torch turns up on a Saturday from
the smoke to watch his game & then clears off back to his theatres. That leaves Mr Moyes in total control to make a mess of our famous club he is useless in the transfer markets ask Preston fans! He stated lets build our team around youth on arrival & look at our old playing staff now & his
reluctance to play any reserves who are better than our present squad! NO ONE IN THE RIGHT MIND WILL INVEST IN A CLUB STEEPED IN HISTORY IN SUCH A CLOSED SHOP!!!!! Someone please tell Mr Kenwright get us money or clear off & let outside interest who can attract investment in an open house club get rid of hangers on the board who have money but will not invest one penny & deadwood of an obvious wasteful business attitude at our club! If we carry on in this mode a relegation battle looms next year with poor football { hit it high & long} & the last debacle Kenwrightt & Moyes should hold their head in shame was the Wayne Rooney transfer to MUFU the installments phases are immoral & we will never get the outstanding 8 million as it is built on MUFC

Success in trophies & with Chelsea buying every stamen what will we get of MUFC Phil Neville {on top Wages} Tim Howard on loan, {why not sign the WBA keeper for 2 million now!!! world class. Just watch out in the future for a crocked bunch for MUFC fooling them over to soften the Rooney deal which was the selling of the family silver ok he wanted to go but a certain Crystal Palace chairman is handling the Andy Johnson deal far more logically e.g. he wants the most money to the highest bidder that's business no the pathetic deal those numptys who gave the brightest prospect away for peanuts. It stands out like a beacon to any Everton we were duped & are mushrooms kept in the dark & fed with S*IT. It has to stop mid table is not what the fans want if we are lucky under this present regime!!!! Mr Kenwright may be a loyal true blue but with no money you are taking our club down no investors means relegation in the future! Joey a true Blue
. (27/05/06)

Wigan Have £20m To Spend

What a lot of people don't seem to realise is that Wigan boss Paul Jewell was given £25m to spend last summer. He couldn't find any players who would have cost him money who actually wanted to join him (remember he matched newcastle's bid for owen) and ended up spending about £8m.

So this summer Jewell finds himself after a very good season with the best part of £20m to spend on players plus whatever he may have been given extra this summer. So of course they are going to be able to outbid us this summer. The can outbid every club bar the top 6/7 money clubs. Paul (t03). (27/05/06)

Sad Day

It's a very sad day to think that we can not even compete with the likes of Wigan and Bolton now. It seems as though we are condemned to fight it out with the promoted clubs for the signatures of average Premiership players. How long will it be before we are getting outbid by the Tranmere's and Burnley's ? No doubt there is a cunning move planned by the board, like matching the bid for Johnson two minutes after he's signed for Bolton so that they can say at least we tried. Any odds on a £30 million bid for Shevchenko just before he signs for Chelsea?
Ste. (27/05/06)

Rich Club

Did anyone see the table for the richest clubs on the planet? Don't quote me, but wasn't Everton fc doing bloody well, flying pretty high. My question is if that is right, why is Davie Moyes player fund piss poor. When looking at the likes of West Ham, Wigan and even Pompey players wages, teams like these seem to get players. What I see is free masions sat around their table screwing the good name of the club. Wyness and co......get grubby hands in your pockets. Think of the club. True Toffee. (27/05/06)

Backward Step

Why is it we never compete with other teams for players. We always pick up the ones no one is sure about or nobody wants, Everton used to be the team to play for, not any more it seems, we have been in the top flight since dick docked and that status means we have made money lots of it the last Class player Everton signed in spite of opposition was Gary Lineker and he only stayed for one season, why? can you get the likes of wigan, bolton, portsmouth, charlton, etc picking up and competing for top players Tottenham are on a level with us yet they get Keane and such like
were where we, talking a big game with small team players no investment in the team no money for the manager, yet we can speculate about a new stadium we can build a new shop, until we get someone upstairs who thinks about the team instead of the profit margin, we will as usual be picking up over sell by date players again this season
. ryarnold. (27/05/06)

Where's The Money?

I agree partly with tony taxi rant (22/05/06) Where is the money from sales of players, from gate receipts, from wages saved... were is the supposed £15 million we "offered" for Michael owen? Also why do we constantly offer a few million below the going rate for players who are available? i think to pacify fans, to say "we're approaching players but"...... (insert one of many excuses!)
On a more pressing point WHY IS THE CLUB (WIGAN), WHOSE CHAIRMAN OWNS THE COMPANY (JJB) WHO TOLD US TO CLOSE 3 MEGASTORES IN MERSEYSIDE SO THEY CAN SELL OUR MERCHANDISE FOR US (FOR A JUICY PERCENTAGE!!), OUT BIDDIN US FOR ANY PLAYER??!!! Surely the club can see there are totally conflicting interests in the deal? then again maybe not as most who are at the club seem totally inept at what they get paid stupid amounts of money to do.... or not do as the case appears!!

I agree there should be a total over-haul of the board, they're far to happy with mid-table mediocrity also unfortunately blue bill... blue blood just isn't enough, you gotta back up your "love for the club" with more money or more investment to be brought in, or ship out!
I would however like to see Moysie given another chance, yes some buys have been naive, some of his decisions silly but i think he's sharp enough to take that as a learning curve... remeber a certain Sir Alex of Manure didn't win shit for 8 years and still makes shit buys now!!!!

Eternally blue tinted glasses make me look to next season with hope Keep up the good work fellas. Goss

Season Ticket Renewal - No Way

Echoing the views of many fellow Blues, if or one am sad to say enough is enough and I'm not renewing my Season Ticket this year.

Why.............quite simply I'm fed up of having the piss taken right out of me before it can stew. Everton football club, for years now, is expecting us loyal blues to swallow all the crap that they throw. Our transfer dealings must be the joke of the whole Premiership. Wasted buys, Wasted contracts and wasted talent. I hear Moyes is now saying Stubbsie is indispensable, oh but he's still got competition for his place (great motivation to an experienced player), he was the numpty that got rid of him in the first place. As for the board, i challenge them to explain to us fans ..Where is the money, boys''.42 years a fan, 14 years a season ticket holder, but not now, I'm waiting to see what they do before i spend a penny more. I'm still a BLUE, they wont take that away from me and when they're gone i'll still be a BLUE. The iceman.
(27/05/06)

Calm down!!

To all Blues still loggin on. I thought I'd finished writing in to Bluekipper 'til after the World Cup, but felt I had to respond to some of the messages being posted already. Chill out you lot. So it looks like we missed out on Johnson. I'm over it already.

Let's wait to see what develops during the Summer before we start griping about who's come in and who hasn't. I bet you a pound to a pinch of sh*t that there will be players that shine during the World Cup that will become available for Premiership action. Hopefully we can spend a few bob on some of those.

Let's wait and see who's lining up for Everton at the start of next season before we start sounding off. Bless us, we're starting to sound like we support the other lot. The problem I've probably got is that I'm too optimistic. We did play some sh*te last season, but still turned up every fortnight for more. So enjoy the World Cup and calm down. Eddieparkend COYB and COE !!!! (Come on England)

AJ, Missing Money and Poor Transfers.

Firstly missing money (or maybe not?). We have just been gleefully informed by EFC that we will shortly be in the money, 28M (or more) TV money each season guaranteed from 2007 on, we still have a sizeable chunk of the Rooney money to come from manure, we have excellent gate receipts with an average ticket price of around £25 (including youths/oap’s) with average attendance of 37,000, there is also the money we make via transfers and shirt merchandising etc.

Taking into consideration the above facts (as I see them), we’ve just been outbid by Wigan for AJ who have an average attendance of 20,000, okay D Whelan has dipped into his pocket for this one, but Whelan is no Abromovitch and with the money we have we should be able to compete for AJ. We could easily offset the cost of AJ against this future TV money, he is worth the money at £8.5M, which isn’t a lot by today’s standards (remember a certain club sold a treacherous little s*** called Rooney (once a blue, always a blue – eh?) for £30M not so long ago, is he 3.5 times better than AJ?). We all agree we desperately need a goal scorer much more than a defender or any other position, It was AJ we needed: he knows where the back of the net is, he has played at Goodison and understands the passion and loyalty of the fans and he knows we are a true premiership side (all the rumours suggested he wanted to come to us!).

Are we agreed that if we start next season without quality up front we are at best mid table and at worst facing oblivion? I personally think we’re at a critical point in the clubs modern history, those who run the club have to decide whether we have genuine premiership aspirations i.e. top six for Europe and build from there (eventually) for top 3 and a title challenge. If the thought of European or title glory raises a giggle or seems too remote to anyone reading these comments, then I pray that reader is not Mr Kenwright who at present does not appear to be buying to win any silverware. All the indications are that we are yet again ready to have a transfer deadline day scoop for bottom of the barrel players who are mediocre or unwanted by their clubs.

Mr Moyes in my opinion has made some poor buys: Kilbane, Van Der Meyde, Wright, Davies and Per Kroldrup. He has made some good buys: Arteta, Cahill and Neville, although Beattie, Mcfadden and Valente look like they might be decent buys, I just need to see a bit more from them before I can give them any stamp of approval. Also Moyes made a profit out of Bent (which is always good), but then did something I can’t understand in sending young Matteo Ferrari back to Italia, when his international class and ability was there for all to see, he wanted to stay and would of only cost us £3m (he then went and offered contracts to late 30 something's Stubbs and Weir). I think David Moyes is decent team motivator, but overall my feelings are negative about his buys, but if he was to buy a quality goal machine (just like AJ) he could right many wrongs!

Do the board trust their manager’s judgment anymore, we seem to be close but not close enough on many bids. Enough to say to the fans “We had a go”, and looked like they’re trying, but they have known all along they would fail. If David Moyes has not already gone into the boardroom and banged his fists on the table for the money to buy a quality forward, he needs to do so now, because Messrs Kenwright and Wyness will sack him when the fans reach the end of their patience, probably sometime around new year if there hasn’t been a noticeable improvement. My complements to BK for this great website. Rob - Lower Gwladys. (27/05/06)

Hello!!!! Reality check here

Why doesn't everyone get real, I have supported this team since the 60's, we all know our history but that's the problem, we dwell on our history!
We are a bottom half league team and will always be one until money is pumped into the club. The board should come up front and say "we haven't got the money to compete with Wigan, Bolton, Portsmouth etc etc and we got to cut our cloth accordingly." So what, accept it!

Blue Bill doesn't want to "upset the fans" and does this "we tried to sign so and so but the problem was...." He should tell the truth, we cant afford so and so! Move on! Here's the reality, we cant compete with teams that in the past weren't good enough to wipe our backsides. So what do we do....

Instead of bull shitting ourselves about AJ, lets spend the money on lesser known but good youngsters, for example will AJ score more goals than say Nugent? probably, 5 goals say? We can buy Nugent for £3.5 mil. What would you rather, buy AJ at £8.5 mil and use Killer at centre half or Lescott and Nugent costing £7 mil in total?.

Look we have a pretty thin squad, numbers are needed, all I'm saying is lets stop wasting time and effort on these "big players" whom we can not afford the transfer fee or wages and look for potential diamonds in the lower league. They are there, whether or not Moyes can root them out is another issue mind. Guess we are going to have another frustrating summer just like the last couple of years. WayneWales. (26/05/06)

Two words ... Sh*te ... and ... Sh*te !!!

Typical Blues eh ?!? ... outbid, out-thought & out-manouevred again !!! Just what the hell is wrong at Everton FC ?!? ... We've been mis-managed & pissed around by the dickheads running this club for bleedin years now ... it NEVER changes !!! How come even mickey-mouse teams like Wigan, Bolton etc can get to the top-flight, stabilise, buy decent players, upgrade facilities etc etc and we do/get f*ck all sorted !!! ... The latest 'transfer' (or NON-transfer) fiasco just does it for me ... its like pissin Groundhog Day !!! ... We've obviously got no £££, so stop pretending (lying) to go for the 'top' transfer targets ... like many Evertonians on this (and others) site have said, "buy the other (probably cheaper - maybe even better player) option ... its not pissin rocket-science !!! ... The so-called 'star' players wont come here anyway ... even if we DID piss loads of £££ in wages on them !!! Over the years, how much £££ has the club got from fans/ticket-sales/merchandise/Sky TV etc etc ?!? ... must be a shit-load, so where's it all now eh ?!? ... the Champions League 'false dawn' proved to be just that ... sorry to say, i just KNEW it'd f*ck up !!! ... blah-blah ... rant-rant ... could go on, but too pissed off now ... roll on next season for more of the same ... sh*te !!! Ste Johno, Nottm. (26/05/06)

Our shambolic board

I totally agree with all the comments made on here for far too long we have been lied to by Bullshi* Bill and Wyness. Andy Johnson is a scorer, we have been crying out for one since Tony Cottee and we are worried about 1.25 million pounds extra, what if he scores the goals that lifts us 3 places in the division? How much is that worth to us???? I am disgusted that I paid cash for mine and my lads season tickets and wish now I hadn’t. Out with Bill Kenwright I say!!!! Pure N*b. Mark Simmons. (26/05/06)

Transfer Kitty

Now is the time to speculate, With the alleged extra prize money our CEO Keith Wyness is talking up we should invest heavily in a young squad
with some experience, forget spending 8.5 Million on Andy Johnson, simply not worth the money, get the likes of Nugent, Lescott, Sol Campbell and Carlton Cole then scour the continent for some lesser known talent and then supplement this with some experience, not Davey Weir, Too Old! A great servant but past our best!!

Don't wait until the money comes in next year as it may well be too late, we are a patient bunch but I would suggest from the friends, Message Boards and feedback in general that patience is wearing a bit thin and we need to see real progress and ambition this coming season or you may start to lose the faith of some of us. Time to put up or ship out for some of our tired Board, Bill with his heart in the right place and undoubtedly one of the most loyal and fervent blues I have had the pleasure of meeting has yet to deliver on the investment promised since day one, although the ship is steadying since the dark days of Mr Johnson we are not moving quickly enough in the right direction, Davey Moyes will be a great manager but I very much doubt that his patience is unlimited, given the clout and backing of a serious board and investor I truly believe that he is the best man for the job but how long before a bigger club with the ambition that he has comes knocking and we will not have had the chance to show our might on any stage let alone the Premiership.

Please, Please, Please do not embarrass some of the greatest fans in the land for another year, we deserve better and will not settle for anything less. Always remember " Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" Always Blue. Gary Parkins. (26/05/06)

Transfers

Just read your comments on the Andy Johnson saga. Is it just me, or does everyone think that so called "blue Bill" and "fatty Wyness" are just taking the piss and lining their own deep selfish pockets. Where the fuck has all the money gone ??? How can a club, attracting the thick end of 40,000 every week, be out bid by a joke of a club who have more empty seats than full ones (notlob) and a bunch of pie eating tossers who can't speak properly.. For fuck sake. 10 years ago they were bottom of Division 4 and going nowhere !

To add insult to injury, I've just read on cefax (yes I'm the sad twat that still hopes and prays for good news of the bbc - FAT CHANCE). The papers claim that we have lost out to the pie eaters, or should say "out bid" by the pie eaters for the Chelski no mark Huth... Fuck me !!!
Does any one else feel that they've been fleeced by the Club (yet again) we love, out of our hard earned, and wasted another small fortune on a season ticket, to watch the once mighty blues go backwards.

Cheers, lets hope that "Billy boy" & "Fat Twat" can get their fingers from up each others arse holes and do some thing for us (except rob us even more) Dave Richards. (26/05/06)

AJ (whats wrong with us??!!)

Seriously now we have got to push the boat out just this once and buy Andy Johnson!!! it ain't to late the guy wants to play for us all we got to do is give palace the money they want fuck being hold to ransom we need him!!! Aj is capable of scoring the goals that will guarantee us at least europe every season and probably some long awaited silverware so we'll get our money back anyway!!! If we lose him to fucking Wigan then go and buy some shit striker who wont even score more than hibbert let alone beattie then were fucked for yet another season!!!! Chris Fisher. (26/05/06)

No Ambition, No Determination, No Effort, Why ?

Dear Mr Wyness

You will have very little knowledge of the history of Everton Football Club and what you do know will have been given to you in soundbites from our totally ineffectual Chairman, Mr Bill Kenwright and you know what? I cannot be bothered to go through it all for your edification so I am just going to ask some questions to which I know you won’t bother replying because you, like the rest of the board do not give a damn about us, the fans.

We are the lifeblood of EFC and we keep you in a job, you need to start listening to us and doing the job we pay you to do, which is to bring success to our club, you have so far attracted zero investment in the club and what is worse you have provided nothing but smokescreens for the fans, what happened to the Fortress Sports Fund money? why have we now been beaten to the punch twice by Wigan Athletic of all clubs for two quality players who should be joining us without any question of there possible destinations, we are a much bigger club than most in the bottom 15 of the premiership and you seem to have forgotten that, where is your pride and determination to bring this club back to the top of Europe’s elite where we damn well belong?

Could it be Mr Wyness that in fact, you are simply one of footballs’ mercenaries? that you are at EFC for a pay check and as such need to be seen doing a job when in fact you and the board are simply doing sod all for your money ? I hope to god this isn’t true and that in fact, right now you are submitting a bid for Andrew Johnson to Crystal Palace that at least equals Wigan’s offer (not that I believe he’s worth that much but he will scores goals for anyone he plays for and that is something we sorely lack) and that you are, right this very second submitting another offer to Chelsea that will bring Robert Huth to Goodison park along with perhaps, Carlton Cole and Shaun Wright Philips?

You owe us an explanation as to why we are seen to be so lethargic and without ambition, so complacent and stupid that being outbid for even the lowest quality player available would not be a surprise, for the lack of investments alone you should be brought to task, even Portsmouth (who the hell are they?) have attracted investment and given Harry Redknapp more funds than we can dream of, Mr Wyness I close this email with the question, what the hell is going on at our club? (PS: I shall not be holding my breath for a response to this email, see you in the Championship next season) Andrew Boyer. (26/05/06)

SOS

SOS on the transfer market again, already. Best players going to Chelski, Gooners, Manure, the Shite, no change there then. But all the second stringers going to Bolton, Wigan and Watford. Where does that leave us? Another year of hope and pray. To those in charge??; get a f’n grip on our reality before we go down and meet PNE and get beat there. I may be miles away from Gladys Street but the pain is still the same and getting worse. SOS, “same old shite”. Boy-C Blue downunder. (26/05/06)

Money money money

Where is the ambition of this board to make Everton a success at home and abroad? Outbid by Wigan!!?? It is a joke. Wyness, Kenwright and co will make us the most financially prudent club in the Championship. How bloody exciting. Alex Makin (Brassed off blue in the same seat, yet again (mug), top balcony) (26/05/06)

Business point of view

I take Tony taxi’s points, but feel he is overlooking quite a few things from the business point of view. He, and a lot of other writers, expect funds from the premiership placing, from Sky, merchandising, sponsorship etc to be used purely for spending on players. We have a wage bill of approx. £40mil per year. Where do you think the money for that comes??? We have lighting, heating, maintenance of Goodison/Bellefield, wages for non-playing staff, loan repayments and a host more that you could name. Are they just paid out of thin air?? I understand the hurt, but for Christ’s sake get real in your assessment. You say you are pissed off with no funds for players, yet in the previous paragraph you talk about £18mil being spent on a “bunch of jokers”. Wake up and see that funds are being given, they are just not all being spent wisely as you noted. Where did you get this budget figure from?? I haven’t seen a single figure or comment released from Everton this summer, except for confirmation that Spencer/Howard have signed. We lambasted them last year for confirming every player we went for as we notified other teams, now you are lambasting them for doing the opposite?? Cop on man, you can’t have it both ways.

You have to understand that we don’t have the sugar daddy in abramovich, or even a Dave Whelan, nor do we have the funds the Shite can afford to waste (what is it, from diouf to crouch about £60mil wasted on strikers??) So while I accept your dismay and upset regarding the present situation and the poor football, you have to take a more balanced, business-minded view when it comes to our situation. Steve Rimmer takes a shot for not matching the AJ bid as well. What, within 4 hours of it being confirmed by Palace?? Give them a chance Steve, how do you know the bid won’t be matched over the weekend..not to mention that £8.5mil is vastly overpaying for AJ. Would you buy a £200k house for £300k?? Then why should Everton?? John. (26/05/06)
