Everton Before England

Absolutely endorse the comments by Steve-parkend. Why is it that I look for Australia’s results and Portugal’s results before even worrying about England? Because my concern is for our players. I was so thrilled and proud that Cahill took the time to acknowledge the Everton fans at the end of the Australia vs Croatia game. Paul – exiled Evertonian (London). (28/06/06)

No Work Permit For Anderson

Just a quick e-mail for those people wondering what's happening with Anderson Silva de Franca. Looks like the work permit has been turned down again, and Everton are now waiting for him to be eligible for a spanish passport. I've no idea when he's eligible for a passport but I'm informed it should be soon. If you enter his full name into google, and click on the wikedpedia site you can read a small article there. FOREVER EVERTON. Gary. Kensington. (28/06/06)

Australians - I told you so

I just couldn't resist saying "I told you so" - have a look at this emails107 Get the cheque book out David. Laurie from OZ. (28/06/06)

We need a Manager to make us win

I think Ian Seddon is really a rednose trying to wind us all up unless he is Scottish that would account for his continuing support of Moyes who as every one knows has inflicted on us Kilbane, Davies, Naysmith and Mc Fadden as well as selling Rooney. The reason I suggested Nigel Clough as a possible replacement was because (and you don't have to be an academic to see this Ian) he managed to get a draw against Man U with a poor team with very limited resources, something that would probably appeal to our current board, plus if he is anything like his father Brian he would probably bring a trophy or two to Goodison something which seems to have eluded our current manager. I like many Evertonians would like to see the team parade a cup round the city I don't know who will next be in charge when that next happens but will enjoy the party anyway. Somehow I think Moyes will always be the bridesmaid and never the Bride nice fella but where's all the cups. Anyway lets hope we don't get shrewsbury again in the third round because super manager moyes was outwitted by our very own Kevin Ratcliffe I suppose you would have him on your list with big Phil eh Ian and if we spend all our money on big Phil we wont have any left for any players. We do need someone though to give us a winning team I think that's all most Evertonians want to see. Come On You Blues. Chris Simpson. (28/06/06)

Why Not Stay At Goodison?

I love goodison park as much as everyone else does! We have got to move though!! Move grounds and move with the times or we will regret it in the long term! Goodison is a mess compared to most if not all other stadiums in the premier league. We are Everton for fuck sake! Trend setters of the 60s and 70s! That's when we stopped moving forward though, stuck in the 70s, we have to get up to date and quick! Fuck a 50,000 stadium! Make it 60000 at least, lets boast we have the best stadium in england not just in Liverpool(Kirkby is still in Liverpool isn't it?) was last time I looked in my A-Z!!!!! Why can't we still be Goodison Park when we move? Can someone answer me that? We are Everton (THE BIGGEST AND THE BEST) No time for sentiments! Times right to move! Times running out! NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM. Eric. NORRIS GREEN. (24/06/06)

New Strip

Merseyside has been one of the most dodgy areas for fashion for years. Yes, all you lacoste track-suit wearers, I'm talking about you. But there are a lot of stylish people about in this city. None of them obviously get to design football kits. So what did you really expect? We're in the the middle of a retro revolution & someone with a pie chart in front of him/her has nearly cottoned-on to this. One sleeve with diamonds the other with none! Listen, its really simple, Everton will come out with a new kit EVERY year from now on because they know we'll buy it. The ideal strip is blue shirt, with NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM at the base of the back, completely white shorts & socks. And while we're at it, who in gods name designs our 'leisure' wear? Its horrendous! Kev Clarke. (24/06/06)

Moyes Is The Man

Well here we go another season. It's taken this long to get the players in place needed to go forward. Thank you to Moyes and staff for putting Everton in the position to claim our rightful position of being challengers in the top half of the table. Now will all the wankers give this team the support. You know, the ones who cry Moyes out. You can now say we knew where he was going. Moyes is our savior. Said it from the start. COYB. John Lea. (24/06/06)

I write as the brother of Mick Fearon and the secretary of the trust set up to raise funds for him. Could you post this on the web site for all the blue noses who know Mick, and there are hundreds - if not thousands - who do. Attached is a picture of Mick in Villareal (could be mistaken for the drummer of 'The LA's ' in that hat).

Thanks From The Mick Fearon Foundation

Many will know that Mick has been diagnosed with the terminal illness Motor Neurone Disease, for which there is, currently, no known cure. Since the turn of the year many of his friends have got together to raise funds -via various charitable events - to send him to Rotterdam to receive Stem Cell Therapy treatment in the hope that this will alleviate his symptoms and provide him with a better quality of life. This coming weekend (Sunday) we shall be travelling to Rotterdam in order that Mick can receive this potentially beneficial treatment.

Mick in Villareal

We, the members of the Mick Fearon Foundation, would like to express out sincerest thanks to everyone who, over the past six months, have given there time, effort and support in order to make this possible. Without it we couldn't have managed to achieve our goal of raising over £20 000 to fund the treatment. To you all I would like to say a big, big thank you for your unstinting generosity and tremendous efforts.

Our club's motto is "Nil satis nisi optimum", and you have shown that are the very best. We shall keep you posted. Thanks again.
Kevin Fearon. Secretary. The Mick Fearon Foundation. (24/06/06)

Everton Before England

I have to agree with Chris b. I also couldn't give two fucks for England. I find it impossible to cheer on the three gobshites and would be more than happy if they joined their ex analfield colleague Owen with ruptured fucking spleens or whatever he's got !! I am an Evertonian and that's all. If this means I'm mad then so be it. Steve. Parkend. (24/06/06)

Cahill's Shirt Swap

What a gent! Tiny Tim is to swap his shirt with one of the faithful. It’s not something I’ve seen before and I am both embarrassed that it wasn’t an England player who did it and extremely proud that it was one of our own who did. Well done Tim and Good Luck for the rest of the tournament, Dave Phillips - Wigan. (24/06/06)

Medals Stolen

Thieves stole Jerzy Dudek's Champions League medal and football memorabilia during a burglary at the Liverpool FC goalkeeper's home, it has emerged. They struck at the footballer's home in Caldy, Wirral, last week while he was visiting his native Poland. Dudek returned to the UK on Tuesday and is said to be devastated by the theft, which includes medals, watches and more than 100 goalkeeper shirts. Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses to the theft.

Appealing for witnesses - what do they mean. Witnesses to the theft of the medals? UEFA said there were millions watching on the TV when the Champions League medal was stolen. Regards Phil Roberts. (24/06/06)

New Arrival

On Wednesday 20th June 2006, Mrs. Joanne Farley gave birth to Evertonian Thomas Farley, also present was proud Father Brian. Congratulations from family and friends alike. We fully expect the extra cold carling in the Albany and Eden Vale to take a hammering (Mick, ring the dray). Chris Farley. (22/06/06)

Last Chance

So the wonderful Evertonian Chris Simpson is moaning again on the Bluekipper e-mails!! Note one of his comments : "Since Moyes is leading us into the new campaign and his obvious supporters would do better belonging to a cult..." Well Mr Simpson it's a hell of a big cult with a lot of fans supporting David Moyes. Sure there have been no trophies we all know that, and with the way our club has been run recently off the pitch it's hardly surprising, however, Moyes has made the best of what he has to work with. It hasn't always been easy and the guy is human and has made mistakes, but on the whole we have become a better club with him.

Then Mr Simpson's second comment of note : "I wonder if he will give Johnson a game or just have him sit on the bench then sell him for £5million or something". Oh i do hope that is you being ironic but I doubt it - for God's sake give the man a chance will you. Ah yes - nearly forgot : don't forget readers that Chris Simpson on these very pages advocated the acquisition of Nigel Clough as our manager, how good would that have been. Ian Seddon. (22/06/06)

Whatever happened to Anderson Silva?

I've tried searching Google news, but all you get is updates on a heavyweight fighter. Has he jumped ship and joined that other Everton hopeful Rodrigo? We should be told. Richard Cubesville. (22/06/06)

Joey Barton

I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say about Barton, especially since he lumped an Everton fan last year when out on the town with Richard Dunne in the Far East. I think he'd be a great addition which would mean a fight for places - something which I think we haven't got.
I'm not sure who he'd replace, maybe Davies on his way out ? or Kilbane ? Ian. Exiled Blue in Houston, Texas. (22/06/06)

City Boundary v Future of the Club

The perfect scenario is that we move to a stadium that is within the City Boundary and get the best financial deal on offer, there would be no arguments then.

But, it seems to me that people are putting more weight on the fact that the club might move over an imaginary line WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL i.e. boundary between Liverpool Council and Knowsley or Sefton, than the possibility of improving our standing as a club. I find this ridiculous!

We would not be moving to the other side of the world you know, we are talking about a boundary that exists only to split the city into manageable areas so that we can get our bins collected on time and pay our council tax bills. Is Alan Stubbs not a 'real scouser' then - Kirkby born and Bootle is right out in the sticks isn't it - Sefton! We cannot afford to be narrow minded and look a gift horse in the mouth if a good deal is being offered (in terms of the land to build the stadium). We need to move, so let's just go to the best place on offer (within reason obviously, no sarcasm about St Helens or somewhere). It won't kill us to go a couple more stops on a bus or train if we've got something better to look forward to when we get there. Paul Cooper. (22/06/06)

Brian Labone Stadium

I Think we should call it Brian Labone Stadium or at least name a stand after him. Another idea I like is the Chang arena...........Iain. (22/06/06)

Anderson DeSilva

What happened to the Brazilian (Anderson DeSilva?) who has been at a Spanish side to get a work permit and was to sign for us this summer? I have heard nothing since, but was under the impression that a deal was already done for him to come here? Any news? Alex Kociuba. (22/06/06)

Andy Van+Valente

After Andy Van and Valente announced their apparent discontent at the club and Timmy Cahill's goals shoved him into the world cup shop window our transfer summer success looked like it might start turning sour.

However credit to Moyes and to the club, Van Der Meyde and Valente have publicly stated their commitment to the club, and with that Arteta and Cahill should have a bit more confidence that the club is moving in the direction. Surely this might be our most improved squad since Kanchelskis joined back in 95.

Andy Van says: "I want to stay, I am desperate to stay. There is nothing wrong with my thoughts about Everton. I can really focus here and the people and the people have made me feel that I'm needed. I love it here. Everything suits my game. Why would I want to go back to Italy? I'm happy in England and I want to show everyone that I can really play football. If I get the chance next season, I will do it."

Nuno says: "I would like to state that I am completely happy at Everton and that I have never indicated that I would like to leave the club. I did not say the words that appeared in the newspaper and I am looking forward to the new season with Everton." Tom Corbett. (19/06/06)

Cahill Mad?

I just got off the phone to my family out in Australia (Melbourne, in case you were wondering) and after seeing your story I asked about Cahill-Mania... My cousin says that that's going a bit too far... but they all know who he is now, and they didn't before. I'm just trying to downplay him so he doesn't get sold! Ant Of Lower Gwladys. Netherton. (19/06/06)

IS IT JUST ME?

My Mrs thinks I need psychiatric help and I am beginning to believe her. You see my problem is, that the most important thing to me is Everton winning something Premiership, FA Cup League Cup European trophy, egg and spoon race sack race, anything as long as the Blues are involved in it.

I don’t really give two fucks about England in the World Cup. Sure I enjoy watching the Brazilians, the Ities Spaniards, fuck me even the Ivory coast get me out of me seat. But I just don’t get off on this England thing. There was a little tingle a couple of years back when Shrek was still a Blue. But that’s gone now so I am once again totally detached from supporting England whole heartedly. How can I jump up when those two red shiters scored the goals no fuckin chance. The English man in me want us to win but I seriously want any one connected with the shite to fail miserably and get fucked off. (is this making any sense to any one? Does anyone feel the same?)

There’s also the other England scenario when every cunt jumps on the band wagon. Pricks who know fuck all about football (especially women) spouting off about Wayne Crouch, Michael Rooney, Rio Terry (are you getting this????) Tossers from Scunthorpe, Darlington Wycombe etc waving their St George flags absolute fuckin knobheads These twats are hi-jacking my game and I hate em for it.

I didn’t give a fuck about the Rugby World Cup or England winning the Ashes (have you seen the size of that trophy fuckin piss take or what) So fuck off all you chancers and leave my game alone.

I’ve got to go now the Mrs has got the men in white coats at the front door for me. Roll on the new season I should be out in time for that. So c’mon Blue boys and bring my sanity back before its too late. (ps I fuckin hate Sven and the whole England jobs for the boys set up. McClaren England coach say no more!!!!!!!!). See you when the pre-season friendlies start. Chris B (the original Wirral Blue). (16/06/06)

Name The Stadium

As a hardcore fan I'd love to stay at Goodison, but if we must move I think we should stay in Liverpool. What would we call the new ground? If it was up to me I'd call it the St Domingo Stadium because there will never be another Goodison Park. I'd also call the main stand the Goodison Stand. Great site lads. Tom Davies. (18/06/06)
The Great Name Game

New Stadium

I FOR ONE WELCOME THE NEWS REGARDING A NEW STADIUM. I LOVE GOODISON AND HAVE BEEN GOING THERE SINCE 1983 BUT I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD. I CAN'T HOWEVER COME TO TERMS WITH THE IDEA OF MOVING TO KIRKBY. AM I ALONE ??? I DON'T THINK I AM. THERE MUST BE OTHER OPTIONS. DO WE REALLY WANT A FUCKING TESCO AT OUR NEW GROUND ??? DOES ANYONE REMEMBER LEEDS LURPACK STAND ? MAYBE WE COULD HAVE THE COUNTRY LIFE END OR EVEN THE TAMPAX TURNSTYLE. I HOPE THE FANS GET TO VOTE ON THIS BEFORE IT HAPPENS. THEN AGAIN DOES IT NORMALLY HAPPEN WITH EVERTON ??? DOES IT SHITE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. MATTY. WIRRAL. (19/06/06)

Last Chance

The signings we have made so far look decent enough but are probably a year too late since we wasted £10million of our limited resources last year on shite. Since Moyes is leading us into the new campaign and his obvious supporters would do better belonging to a cult I don't know how they stand by him after watching another season of expectation fizzle out without so much as a fucking whimper, and yes the trophy cupboard has been fit to bursting under him hasn't it. I wonder if he will give Johnson a game or just have him sit on the bench then sell him for £5million or something. I see this as last chance saloon for Moyes if he doesn't get it right this year he will probably get us relegated so lets see what happens. I have been watching Everton for 40 years and think it's about time Evertonians had something to celebrate. Fuck everyone else. Everton Forever. Chris Simpson. (19/06/06)

Everton must not leave Liverpool!

I think the mere idea of Everton Football Club vacating the city boundary is abhorrent! Our glorious club has been playing both amateur and professional football in this city for nearly 150 years. To say we're rooted to this city would be an understatement. Like Saint Georges Hall, the Glorious Colonnades at the Albert Dock and dare I say it The Cavern (albeit a replica) Everton's affiliation to this city is overwhelming. THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL IS OUR RIGHTFUL HOME, not the borough of Knowsley.

What is it with the people who run our club? Are they of the mind that thinks - they will follow, wherever we lead them? - I don't know, someone
help me out...please! Or is our fault? The supporters? Who continually fail to show our love for Everton. What was it that Sherlock Holmes said -
"once you've eliminated the impossible; whatever remains no matter how improbable must be the truth! YES IT'S OUR FAULT FORGET I SAID ANYTHING......ON BEHALF OF ALL THE LOYAL EVERTONIANS - IF YOU WILL PERMIT ME - WE APOLOGISE FOR NOT DEMONSTRATING OUR LOVE FOR EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB!

Sorry, went a bit mad there. I'm starting a petition tomorrow to stop Everton moving out of the city. I'd like this to be replicated as much as possible and give Kenwright and Wyness a bloody nose for even thinking about it. You lads and lasses may be for the move to Kirkby, I don't know? But when you consider how the City Council, Local MP's, Government Ministers, Regeneration Groups and their Partners' - amongst others, have bent over backwards to help that 'shower' across the park - they have failed to deliver a basic credible package. If Everton had had half the support for the Kings Dock project, I'm sure I wouldn't be writing this email. Many thanks. Mike Valentine. (19/06/06)

It's All Gone Silva

I am another one who is totally curious about our "deal" with Anderson Sliva. I was fully expecting him to join our ranks at the end of the season and battle it out with Nev and Carsley for the defensive midfield slot, but nothing has happened. When is it that we fans can expect, no demand, an answer to this question: WHERE IS ANDERSON SILVA???? gasm. (19/06/06)

Everton Captain

Well I'm still half bladdered after the Aussie's win over Japan - Get in Timmy C. - Anyway, back to the subject at hand, the captaincy of Everton. Had big Nige been around still I am convinced he would have been the man, but as he sadly isn't I think Phil Neville has to be the man. He's been there done that and got a hundred friggin' T-shirts to show for it, and I doubt that there would be many more experienced players in the prem??? He's reliable and still has his best years to come ( I hope). Timmy isn't ready for it yet, and I doubt that Stubbsy or Davey will get many games next year. After the debacle that was last season, I am not getting too excited but.....Moyesie has done what would appear to be some very tidy deals in bringing in the lads he has so...... COYB. Kris Everton (aka Kris Wetton) (19/06/06)

Make Cahill Captain

The thing is we have a captain in the Aussie. Give him this honour. He has been a man with a thirst for the game since he arrived at Everton. Tell me if he never scored more vital goals in the last season we finished fourth, because to me he carried Everton on his back. COYB. John Lea. (15/06/06)

Make Yobo Captain

Whether he stays or goes Davey Weir is last year's captain and not next year's. Captaincy can mean a lot to people and teams (look at Fergie at manure who though horrible is no fool, telling Rooney it will be his), so let's make it a forward move at Everton. A moment's thought and we all know who it should be - but given Moyesey's ultra conservative approach it will probably be David Cameron or Kevin Kilbane. No. all right Phil Neville.

Joking apart, Joey Yobo has been linked with moves away from Goodison. Let's tell him where our heart is and where we want his to be. He's the best player at the club (ok Mikky prove us wrong and we'll be delighted). Offer Joey the captaincy. He could be the best since The Rat. It could keep him here and keep him happy, and what a team we could be starting to build around him. Yobo, Lescott, Hibbert, Valente - Cahill, Neville, Arteta, Osman (maybe), Beattie, Johnson, plus a good keeper to replace Nige and good squad backup. Am I the only one who sees good days could be ahead? I don't think many season ticket holders from the last four years would disagree. We've made some forward -looking signings, let's not go backwards with the flag-bearer. COYB. Peter Hall. (15/06/06)

Shandy Andy

ANDY VAN, what a twat if he leaves. First he wants to stay and prove himself, FAIR PLAY, but now apparently he regrets ever even leaving Italy. If this is his thinking, I say get rid of him, cash in as such. I along with I'm sure many other blues had high hopes for ANDY VAN, but ........ nuff said. BLUEbRENDO@ COPENHAGEN. (15/06/06)

Where Is He?

Have you any news on whether Anderson Silva da Franca will be on our books next year or not? Thanks. Dave. (15/06/06)

Leon Osman

Just to let you know that I have just been on holiday to Gran Canaria and Leon Osman was on the same flight and staying in the same hotel, just like to say what a very nice and down to earth guy, as a Derby fan I recognized him straight away, he had a very successful season long loan with us 3 years back, great player, if you ever want rid of him please send him down to Pride Park. Peter Gallimore. (15/06/06)

Caution

Lets not get to carried away by the boards 13.5 mil so called expenditure this summer. I do feel that the fee for A. J. will be around 5 mil up front and the rest paid on the length of his contract as well as bonuses and appearances. and the fee for lescott if he signs will probably be 3 mil up front and again the rest based on the contract and bonuses and appearances, so maybe the total around the 8 mil mark. So lets not forget the important signing next for the club ,hopefully will be that of an investor to add a few more faces to the squad. Karl Gilboy. (15/06/06)

Anderson Silva.

I remember last year he was billed by the club as "an exiting young Brazilian midfielder" who "has chosen to play for Everton above other high profile clubs". Having looked at his record myself he seems to be a mediocre, journeyman, defensive midfielder with a discipline problem. Having said this where is he? why no word from Everton. Do you guy's know whats going on? ....... The only idea explanation I can think of is that when our summer transfers go tits up (as usual) he will be hailed by Bill as "The next big thing in Brazil(rodrigo!) and he chose us over Big teams (Racing Santander, Genk, Metz and the likes). Ian Kneale. (15/06/06)

Number Plate

I was wondering if anyone was interested in a number plate I'm selling Reg Y66 EFC. Please contact me on 07734 872 643 if interested. Thanks Liam Farrell. (15/06/06)

Half Marathon Man Zinadine Kilbane

I was running the Blackpool Marathon and I bumped into Zinadine Kilbane doing the half (WIMP) with his wife. He managed a smile and even said hello! My wife for the first time ever forgot her camera and asked who he was, I advised that is a question many of us Evertonians have been asking all season - close but no cigar!! Great Website! IAIN- BOOTLE BLUE. (15/06/06)

Duncan Ferguson - Guardian Article

Larry O'Hara wrote this letter to Nicky Campbell of The Guardian. The article he is referring to is reproduced below his letter.

Mr Campbell,

I have long regarded you with justifiable contempt, ever since I heard you on the radio closing down a caller asking legitimate questions about possible dodgy (drug) dealing by journo-cop Donal Macintyre.

Your piece in the Guardian today slagging off Duncan Ferguson was typical--unnamed and probably fictitious sources chewing sour grapes. His skill, spirit & determination have endeared him to life-long Evertonians like myself, and will continue to do so.

Being attacked by a creature like you in the way you have done it, shows you to be journalist scum, though not necessarily in that order. Go and giver yourself a hand-shandy, you talentless envious little creep.
Larry O'Hara. (15/06/06)

The good, the bad and the downright ugly of Big Dunc by Nicky Campbell was printed in The Guardian, Friday May 19, 2006

It is 20 years from now and Theo Walcott has called time on a wonderful career for club and country. A gangly big guy in his mid-50s winces with sciatica and glances at the headlines in the papers he is using to muck out his precious pigeons. "Hero Theo Waves Goodbye". Does he feel indifferent or does his heart ache for what might have been?
Icon, hooligan, man of principle, shameless mercenary, tender bird lover, vicious thug, generous team-mate, waste of space - take your pick. Image wise some liken him to Lee Bowyer but without the charm, while to others he is an Everton legend. Duncan Ferguson doesn't speak to the "scum gutter press" so we are left to surmise from prejudices and infer from facts. Here are some. He has played his last game of professional football. Never again will he be out with injury and/or suspension. There will be no more fines to add to the quarter of a million pounds paid to Everton over the years and no more opportunities to reach double figures in a season. He managed that once, at Dundee United.

I was thrilled when he leapt on to the scene in the early 1990s because I thought a great striker had come our way at last. Then the flaws emerged as he manifested the hair-trigger temper that was his undoing. He seemed a man on the edge, like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, "You think I'm a funny guy?" He has attacked policemen, postmen, fishermen and a journeyman - when he head- butted Raith Rovers' John McStay on the field. The Scottish Football Association refused to let his match ban run concurrently with the prison sentence and Ferguson turned his dodgy back on the national team. But when you pull on that jersey you are not doing it for the benefit of some pissant panjandrum who may or may not have it in for you. You are doing it for kids with dreams.
Howard Kendall said: "We'll never know what he went through on that one" but a former international who played in the dark blue with Ferguson is contemptuous. "What're you writing about him for? Lining up in front of the anthem was the ultimate for me. Not for that imbecile." The estimable Craig Brown is more forgiving. "I like Duncan. He is a popular guy. A generous guy who will invite all the guys to play snooker in his house and buy all the drinks." He paused and added, "He is like Gascoigne maybe - too generous for his own good."

A former Everton team-mate, a model pro, took another view. "You wouldn't want to sit down and chat to him - put it that way. He is a lucky, lucky guy who got some big moves - a man who made an awful lot of money. He didn't like training, wouldn't prepare his body properly, didn't love football and just wasn't dedicated to it. He probably doesn't watch football." This player is scathing about the transfer to Newcastle. "[Ruud] Gullit must've done that deal in one of those Amsterdam coffee shops."

Brown is interesting on Ferguson's football ability. "He had terrific touch and aerial ability and superb game awareness. A real strength was peeling off round the back and finding himself unmarked." But he acknowledges Duncan was no natural goalscorer. "With Scotland he was supposed to be the cure to all our striking problems. In all the games he did play not only did he not score, we didn't score."

His former Goodison colleague is uncompromising. "He was a static footballer. He was good in the air and people say he was tough to play against but, if defences push out, you can't score a header from 20 yards. Not my cup of tea." Kendall thought differently. "Duncan was awesome in the air. I remember a goal at Arsenal when he just rose above Adams. Awesome. Without the suspensions, without the injuries - that's how it could have been."

And that is the nub of it. But why should millionaire Duncan Ferguson have any regret whatsoever in years to come as he caresses his champion pigeons? That requires a self-doubt he enviably lacks. Lucky, lucky guy.

Silva

Well, we are now in the market for players to strengthen our squad. We have already got A.J. and that Silva fella who we loaned out to Malaga. Wait a min... Where is he anyway? Didn't Malaga get relegated from La Liga ? I've not heard a peep from Everton about whether he is coming to us for next season or not. Is this just another one of those strange ' Eddy Bosnar' signings ? Does anyone know the score about this one ? And, does anyone know if he's any good ? I have never seen him play. Great site lads, keep it up. Ben Macfie. (15/06/06)

Get Behind Moyes

I think the fans should get off Moyes back. As an Everton and Sunderland fan, I think Mr Moyes has done a very good job. Fans who wants to get rid of the manager should look back when we had Mike Walker who was a very good manager at Norwich but could not make it at Everton. We had Harvey who was a good coach, but not good as manager. Big Joe was a good manager, but like who ever at the time you put in charge needs money. At the time we were in massive debt and could not bring in world class players. Moyes has done well. He has so far built a team and if your all strong Evertonians like you say get behind our team and boss. You should think yourself lucky. We're not with my other team Sunderland who should still be in the prem and that team needs a new board. All Everton need is someone to invest money into the club. So lets get behind Moyes and hope we have A good season. Paul from Clubmoor. (15/06/06)

Season Ticket Schmicup!!

Once again I feel the need to voice my opinion with reference to the way in which our club go about their business of attempting to mislead us (the supporters) with a constant barrage of blackmail and propaganda tactics. I like most of you received an e-mail from Bully explaining that I can buy my season ticket in a two week window (a lot earlier in the summer than usual and I haven't budgeted for it) at the same price as last season or it will be increased by £80!!! £80??? Like fcuk I'm going to renew it with a hike like this when all the people who sit in the park end with deeper pockets than me were given it for a lot cheaper a month previous (again I question 'The Peoples Club') It went up by this amount the previous season also but last year we were on the brink of European football - Until they didn't fulfil another promise and spend the money that is 'fundamental for the club to be active in the transfer market' wisely and didn't bring anyone in with the quality required to take us forward (Are Tata excluded as he was already on loan). I am becoming ever frustrated that the club is forgetting it's core vales and will lose the financial support of a large proportion of what has been long term loyal supporters. The thought of now applying for an Evertonia card in order to get priority on tickets seems a lot more appealing than losing out on £30 every time I can't make a game. In the past this has not been too much of a grudge to bare - But with this kind of inflation it absolutely is! Nearly £5 per game rise! I am one of a group of six fans who have had a season ticket for years now and four of us will not be renewing which is 66% of our usual attendance. I understand that there will not be as wide spread reaction as this but with rumours that Joey is due to depart I can see our ambition starting to falter once more. I will never stop loving the club - but until my personal circumstances change I won't be able to continue to financially support the club due to this increase. A once again, disappointed, Shaggy! Wanted - Stories From The Fans About Everton

I'm working out of Walton Library, as part of a project called WHAT WAS IN WALTON? This site is designed to give the people of Walton - and other scousers - the opportunity to put down their own stories, reminiscences and personal histories of the Walton area.

I'm a blue myself and posted one of the first stories on the site, my memory of the night we beat Bayern Munich in the cup winners' cup. I believe Graeme Sharpe has written a story which will shortly be posted on the site. I'm planning on writing to the Club to see if we can get players past and present to do likewise.

I'd be grateful if you could make your fellow blue kippers aware of this site and encourage them to post their own stories on it, football related or otherwise. Best Wishes. Tony Green. (15/06/06) http://www.whatwasinwalton.com/

Fly The Flag

From 'Fly The Flag' index 7, why oh why did the Walnut Blues not notice that there was a traitor on a pre-season reconnaissance mission in amongst them? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Collina behind the flag just above the 'W' contemplating a lucrative retirement maybe after just one more game? Gwladys. (15/06/06)

How to survive a trip to the dark side

Thanks for the tips on how to survive a trip to the dark side. It's been a few years since I set foot in the place, but I had a tradition I used to follow. I was careful not to touch anything or anyone, and the shoes that walked on that piss-soaked concrete were never worn again. Cheers Peter. (15/06/06)

Replace Moyes - No Chance

So Chris - you really think that David Moyes should be released by EFC if Man U ever come in for him, you really think that we would be better without him, you really believe that "we need someone who will make us respected again"? Kind of contradicts your opinion of Mr Moyes too when you believe a club with the power of Man U would consider such an obvious loser.

It is incredible that you believe that we should get rid of David Moyes - sure it hasn't been perfect, what is, but we are moving the right way, and considering our relatively limited resources he has done a remarkable job.

Reading on I asked myself "who does this guy Chris think we should bring in?" Capello I mused, Lippi maybe, perhaps big Phil Scolari is in his mind, no, none of these, the answer is in front of us and it is amazing that none of us have been talking about in the pub after matches - Chris thinks Nigel Clough would do the job well and that the board should take this in.

I'm amazed I really am that anybody should think like this - get behind Davey and get real about where we are and how far we have come, at least the football out there is looking good, gates are up and loads of us actually look forward to matches - could you say that under the blessed Walter - not often. Regards. Ian Seddon. (15/06/06)

Anderson Silva

Haven’t we meant to have signed Anderson Silva in the Jan transfer window – what’s the news on him? Or am I just hoping for something that will never happen – a classy creative midfielder gracing our turf next season? Cheers, Liam. (15/06/06)
