Mickey Blue Eyes Here
here, I have been reading through the message board on the icliverpool
website of Everton's, and I cannot believe how bitter people are towards
WR. Obviously I enjoy football and I cannot believe that people on Merseyside
write down so much hate about his leaving the club. So what? Sadly I think
unless he does grow up and fast, he will continue to go through life blaming
others for his lack of maturity, but even more sadly I believe he will
not achieve his aspirations at Manchester United and will leave for overseas,
either Barcelona or Real Madrid. But Mickey
your points well written and thankfully soccer doesn't rule or run my
life, I just enjoy watching the sport, and I think we all need to take
heed of what you have said in your article. Best wishes to the best team
I know for this coming season. Thank you for your site it is fun and informative. No Russian's please £80m. No thanks! The soon to be rumour down South is that Chelsea will not be a club within five years. I am devastated to find out that their investor may have been involved in some delicate financial transactions. I cannot believe that he is anything other than an honest guy. MJC. (31/07/06) Gossip Having reached pension age I have been a Blues fan since I was a teenager in my native Dublin. Yes in the days of Tommy Eglington the great Peter Farrell, everybody in Dublin supported the Blues. I have enjoyed the good times and the bad but I would not swap the memories that I have of my beloved Everton. Sadly I don't travel nowadays, but happily I am able to keep up to date with all the news thanks to your wonderful web site, Just by chance I would like to say hello to an old mate his name was Billy Burns who used to live in this neck of the woods at one time. He was from Skem so if you are still around Bill get in touch. Remember when we got those tickets in 1966 outside Wembley or should I say how you got them. What memories. Once a Blue always true. Joe Ball. Maidenhead, Berks. (31/07/06) Rant Another season of disappointment starts, Pistone, Kilbane, Wright, Weir, Harry Hill, Mcduff. Any I missed? All krap!! Still on the books. Moyesy putting his hopes on av scoring the goals, will regret not gettin Nugent, because show pony Beattie won't get 10. Forgot AVDM another joke. Sack the dour Scot and get O'Neill in. Someone to introduce some exciting attacking play, and give the poor supporters a team worth paying to watch!! Glento. (31/07/06) Mickey blues comments Mickey
your comments are too rational and if I'm being honest they feel like
a slap in the face to me and many Evertonians! Although I agree that some
of the behaviour from Evertonians has "bordered on dementia"
I believe we have every right to feel let down, hurt and angry. Me? I
personally don't worry about him anymore. I don't wish him the best but
at the same time I don't wish him any harm. One thing I do know is I'll
feel a hell of a lot better when he leaves Manchester United for someone
else. I feel then the "ghost" will be laid to rest. Columbus Crew v Everton There were a few good moments, some good plays from both sides. However, as with most friendly matches they are not going what I would call, balls to the wall. The fan base here is pathetic so the atmosphere is typically lame. I did meet some of your fans that came over though. They must have found the only blue coloured taxi cab in Columbus that they pulled up to the stadium in. Paul 'Balcony' Watson. (31/07/06) A LAST EVER WORD ON WAYNE ROONEY.. EVER, EVER, EVER. AGAIN. It's
fantastic to have a good columnist on BK who gives rational opinions on
all matters EFC but I do think that MBE
should realise that to some people football is more than just a game -
and yes that includes people who have great lives outside it! It should
obviously not be all consuming but I would not completely denigrate those
to whom it is because as in all walks of life the extremes are often the
most brilliant - some of the most barbed comments are often the funniest,
and yes the crowd is often the most entertaining element at Goodison.
Although the atmosphere against United (Rooney's return) in the Cup was
not savioury, it was different and I was glad to have been there. General
consent deemed the home victory 1-0 (Duncan) to be a cracking atmosphere
but the Mancs I knew said it was incredibly intimidating for them. David Lerner Just read that Aston Villa are trying to entice the rich American David Lerner to run their club shouldn't we be trying to get the likes of him on board, as his money and influence could do a lot for our club never mind the Villa. Chris Simpson. (31/07/06) Italy For AVDM I’ve emailed once before about a certain dutch winger leaving to join an Italian team. I was a bit off as hasn’t left….yet! But, now with the rumours flying round about him going to Torino I must mention that this is a good possibility. I can’t go in to too much detail (as I might get in to trouble at work!!!) but he mentioned to someone here that he is going to Italy soon. Now, whether or not that’s on another holiday we can only pray, but he actually mentioned Torino!! He’s quite eager for us to get this ‘something’ sorted for him asap so he can take it with him. And this isn’t something you can fit in your suitcase so it must be a long term move!! A bit fishy? Maybe. But you can never rule it out, especially with Mr Moyes not being the best businessman in the business. I for one will be looking to put a few quid on him leaving before the end of the season. Although I will be happy if I lose cos I like his style (of play that is, he’s got terrible dress sense!) Anyway. Later. Dowelly. (31/07/06) I spoke to Moyesy at the golf recently. I asked him about transfers, if we were interested in anyone like Joey Barton still he replied "we've got no more money". So to try and counter this I asked whether David Thompson would be an option as we have no cash but Moyesy claimed "we have too many players like him". So its not looking like any more new faces will be wearing the royal blue this summer!!! Henry Waterhouse. (31/07/06) Andy use your feet next time? In
my years of watching football I thought I had seen most things from "invisible"
handball goals, players being "kicked" from yards away without
being touched, etc. you get the idea. However Alan Irvine has just notified
us all of a sight we must have ALL missed. Mr BUPA has a groin strain,
as he continues to work through the A-Z of Grays Anatomy, but magically
this injury has been caused in a very odd and unique way. Alan Irvine,
has stated :- "Unfortunately, Andy has a problem with the same area
of the groin that kept him out for a long time last season. We are concerned
about that. It's the part where you strike the ball and Andy strikes the
ball very hard with a great deal of power." Kits I was lead to believe that our new kit was some sort of 70's retro Latchford umbro diamonds down sleeve nostalgic wonder. All I see is some fucked up half collared tank top. After 4 seasons of relatively spot on kits, who the fuck came up with this half baked shithouse monstrosity. If I wasn't pissed off enough, some prick comes up with an away kit with sky blue trimmings. SKY FUCKING BLUE! Someone somewhere is responsible for both of theses fucking insults. I doubt the cock sucking designer has ever set foot inside Goodison. But more to the point, who the fuck gave them the ok! Gary Hogg. (31/07/06) Celtic v Everton Dear Fellow Everton fans, Just a quick note to say looking forward to a great weekend in Glasgow with the two best sets of fans in the world ! Hope all who are travelling enjoy the game and the Glasgow banter and city in general, have a safe journey and A very enjoyable trip. The past two matches have ended in 2-2 draws so maybe there will be a few goals on Sunday ! Sean Graham. Celtic/Everton Fan. (22/07/06) To Everton football fans and fans beyond You probably won't publish this rant because it will bring home the truth about hidden agendas within our game and beyond. The decision by FIFA to 'do' Materazzi (I don't give a toss that he played for us) as the instigator of the Zidane butt, opens up a can of worms, if we consider punishments that have been handed for previous player's indiscretions. If we consider the 'time' that Duncan Ferguson did due to the provocation by an opponent (as a Rangers player), then do we not consider the behaviour of the opponent that led the violent reaction from Dunc? Are we (or FIFA) going to ask whether or or not a player 'deserves' the retribution meted out for 'slagging off' or 'wrestling down' by an opposition player. Consider the two players that sandwiched Rooney in the Portugal game.[ Also, please tell me how long it will be before any fans are punished for goading opposition supporters and players, even though this is only usually done to undermine the confidence and morale of the the other team and it's supporters Let me know now, so I can stop wasting my money on season tickets. I love football and I love my Club, but I can't bear the thought of the 'Politically Correct Brigade' gnawing away at what we would call the tradition of banter, or slating as it is called in other sports. It would appear that the likes of Gerrard and Shearer are given free rein to lunge into two-footed tackles and lashing out with elbows without any FA, Premiership or FIFA intervention, but as soon as one of their 'GOLDEN BOYS' is involved in a challenge that brings controversy, like being sent offf in a World Cup Final, then it is obviously the opponents fault. It stinks to high heaven The media, for some reason (definitely political), have taken it upon themselves to vilify Materazzi and blame him for Zidane's reaction. If Vinnie Jones had been the villlain in this game, it would have been an open and shut case with Jones in the dock. I think football fans everywhere need to consider where these decisions, by our so called governing bodies, leave us. If the times are changing, let's set the ground rules before competitons or seasons kick off. I really am pissed off with rules being made to suit the 'BIG CLUBS' and the 'BIG PLAYERS' as games or competitions are underway. Finally, I'd like to thank to FA for being as vociferous, as FIFA in condemning Materazzi, in defending Rooney for the 'holding down' or whatever you'd like to call it in front of the referee before the lad was sent off. Now and then, I despair for this game that I hold so dear. Eddieparkend. COYB. (22/07/06) Everton v Preston Ticket cock up!!! I
have attached a copy of a letter I have sent to Bill Kenwright regarding
my difficulty getting specific tickets for the Preston v Everton friendly. Dear Mr. Kenwright, As a season ticket holder for 16 years, I am writing to you to complain about the ticket situation over the friendly between Preston North End and Everton, which is being played on Wednesday July 19th 2006. My twelve year old stepson, Dale along with his older sister Saicha, has a rare genetic condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP for short), which means they are allergic to ultra violet light and also have neuro problems. If the children venture outdoors in the daytime they have to be fully clothed from head to toe, with a specially made visor which protects the face and skin from burning. Only when it is night time can they shed their visors and gloves and play like “normal” children outdoors. Dale is a mad Evertonian and a few years ago he had his own season ticket in the Park Stand near the back so he was able to take his visor off whilst in his seat and watch the game in comfort. Unfortunately, due to cost, we couldn’t afford to renew it and so we try and pick a few home games, as well as a couple of evening games away. As a treat I decided to take Dale to the forthcoming Preston friendly. I called to the Everton Box Office on Wednesday 5th July to purchase tickets for me and Dale. I explained the situation with Dale and asked if could I have tickets at the rear at the stand as if I sat him at the front and it was a warm evening he would perspire severely and would generally be uncomfortable. I was told I couldn’t have tickets at the back as they were selling tickets from the front of the stand and could I call back later in the week where I might be able to have tickets then. I called again on the Monday and asked again. I was told that the computers were down and I couldn’t buy tickets until Tuesday. Even then they were only up to row 7 in the stand. Again I was told to call back on a later date. I asked why I couldn’t have tickets and they said that Preston had told the club to sell them that way. With that, I phoned Preston North End to ask what the situation was regarding tickets. I spoke to the Box Office manager of Preston, who informed me that they had not told Everton how to sell their tickets. I explained my situation to her, whereupon I was offered tickets in the Everton section at the back of the stand, which I can pay and collect my tickets on the night of the game. I am absolutely disgusted with the way I have been treated over this whole affair. To travel on two occasions to buy tickets for a friendly and to be turned away twice and then have our opposition, who are a lower league club, sort tickets for me in a five minute conversation over the phone is unbelievable. To have no help from my own club to accommodate a child with a rare illness is shocking. To have money in my pocket and not being able to spend it with my club is appalling. I had contacted Graeme Sharp, who has met the kids and helped us with fundraising events for the XP Support Group in the past, but unfortunately he is away on holiday at the moment. While he is away, I have had no help whatsoever from my beloved club. I await in anticipation for your comments on this matter. Yours Faithfully, Steven Mitchell, Park End Season Ticket Holder and True Blue. Gossip Columns I watch the gossip columns every day and the only premier club that is virtually never mentioned is EFC ?? Other clubs scouts are very active and have unearthed plenty of good players recently without paying exorbitant fees. I have seen many players at the world cup who played for the lesser National teams and have been impressive, surely we could pick up one or two of these players without paying vast sums of money. We always seem to pay through the nose with few exceptions eg; Cahill who has proved a good buy. Wigan have found Chimbonda, Bullock etc and Arsenal have a veritable chain of cheap signings who have gone on to become stars. We by comparison have paid big money for Beattie ??? Lescott ?? And Johnson. All the above cost nothing for Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves…the only star we have produced has been Rooney who left I am sure because EFC have shown absolutely no ambition. We obviously require better cover for many positions and we desperately need to offload the ageing and terminally injured. I cannot see the logic of hanging on to these players whilst we continually let young players go at the end of every season. Would someone please let me know why certain players comeback after long term injuries with sometimes only half a game for the reserves before being allowed to take up valuable bench room. It would be much better to give at least a few of the fit youngsters a try instead of trotting out players who have passed the point of improvement and are just 'doing a job'. Alex Ferguson was criticized when he 'blooded' his youngsters some seasons ago but they blossomed when given a chance…are our youngsters so bad ?? Mystified and disillusioned. Trevor. (18/07/06) Please tell me that Tim Cahill, Nuno Valente and phil Neville's high squad numbers are a matter of preference???? I hope I have missed something..... but Van der Meyde and Naysmith getting first choice numbers ahead of those lads is just stupid. I know it's a small detail but it sends a message. Mark Warren. (18/07/06) New Away Kit Sky Blue?......maybe Royal Blue, or lets go back to yellow.....Steve. (18/07/06) Egos R Us? For crying out loud stop pandering to MBE’s ego. I’ve never read such pretentious drivel. It might be OK in a Guardian supplement. Keep it off Blue Kipper. Now are we going to get a new midfield enforcer or what? John Otway. (18/07/06) First, a big thanks to Li Tie for his efforts whilst wearing the Blue shirt. I for one thought he played well enough during his first season with us, then was unlucky with injuries. So let's wish the lad well for the future. Secondly, let's hope we fill Goodison for Howard's testimonial in August. He deserves it for helping to write history. And finally, I can't wait for the new season to start. After watching one of the worst World Cup tournaments I can remember (mostly the cheating, diving, bad refereeing etc. etc) and enduring some of the worst football being played by an England team for years, it will be a relief to get back to Goodison. Eddieparkend. COYB. (18/07/06) No Offence Lads But who the F'ing hell is STEVE PARKEND!?! When England are playing you get behind the team, simple as that. Nationalism may be the last refuge of the scoundrel but cut me and I bleed red for England and St George. Kiern Moran. (18/07/06) Father & Son 2 I thought the e-mail from David Gibbs on 5th July was brilliant. It would be interesting if you could run a feature on this with maybe some photos and also see if any other Blues have similar stories. What do you think? Ian Seddon. (18/07/06) Absolute Class I’d just like to say that in my humble opinion the email from Kevin Latham was absolute class !!!!! Andrew Boyer. (18/07/06) Starting XI NOW THE DUST HAS SETTLED & THE RED SHITE HAVE LOST ENGLAND THE WORLD CUP (THE BASTARDS TOOK THE WORST PENALTIES I HAVE SEEN EVER SEEN). LETS GET BACK TO BUSINESS. - MOYES & THE BACK ROOM BOYS HAVE FOR ONCE GONE OUT & SIGNED ON THEIR MAINE TARGETS BEFORE THE EVE OF THE DEAD LINE DATE. SO FINGERS CROSSED WITH A BIT MORE WHEELING & DEALING 3 MORE ADDITIONS COME THROUGH. MYSELF AND A FEW MORE TRUE BLUES I HAVE SPOKEN TO THINK THERE IS A LOT MORE BELIEF FOR THE FORTH COMING SEASON SO LETS GET BEHIND THE TEAM. HERE IS MY STARTING ELEVEN: HOWARD, HIBBERT, LESCOTT, YOBO, VELENTE, NEVILLE, CAHILL, CLARKE KENT, OSMAN, JOHNSON, BEATTIE. BAZSHAMROCK. (18/07/06) Tim Cahill Over the past couple of weeks we have spent around 12 million on two potentially good players. Many of my Evertonian friends have wondered were the cash has came from. Well I shit myself when I heard today that the money has supposedly came from the sale of Tim Cahill for 9 million to the dirty manc scum along the motorway. This could well be true as it came from the same lads who said that we were getting Johnson and Lescott even before the bids and speculation began because they are quite close to sources at Goodison and Bellefield. I fukin hope they are wrong this time. Alan. (18/07/06) Anderson Silva Anyone know where he is or what’s going on with him? Best Regards. Paul Weaver. (18/07/06) Bad Press Myself, like most Evertonians couldn't give two shiny shites about England getting knocked out of the world cup! What pisses me off though is that no one, not even our beloved press have mentioned that it was two missed penalties by the red shite that knocked them out! The great Gerrard and Carragher! If that had been two manc players who had missed them the press and the sad twats from across the park would have had a field day about it! Is it just me or is it one rule for the shite and another rule for everyone else? Eric ( park end). (18/07/06) Still No Kit I have been a football fan and an Everton fan since 1996 when i was only four yrs old. I like to buy the new kit every year from the mail order as I live in Chelmsford. I pre-ordered the new kit in the first week possible of pre-ordering it. This was in May. It was GAURENTEED to be delivered to my house on the 22nd June. I expected it to have arrived for my birthday on the 28th June and it still hasn't turned up. I is now coming to the middle of July and i am starting to get very annoyed and impatient. I have called Everton a number of times and apparently it is now JJB who are in charge of the mail order as well as the megastore. So
the message to other evertonians is 'If you ordered the Everton home 06/07
shirt have you received it yet ?' The
World Cup. Love it. 4 weeks of wall to wall togger. I was always under
the impression that it was a tournament for national sides, so am I the
only one pissed off with the number of mentions the redshite have had.
It's like deja vu all over again, as Motson once said. Since when have
those twats played in it? Christ, the media can't leave them alone. When
Ukraine were being tonked by Italy the commentator couldn't resist reminding
us at 0 - 3 that they weren't down and out (which of course they were)
- "Tell Liverpool that a team can't come back and win from three
nil!" Actually, if memory serves, they didn't win, they drew 3 -
3. We even had Clive Tyldesley getting the Alaves game in at one point.
What's that to do with the fucking World Cup? Then there was always the
mention of Jerczy "Where's Me Couch Gone?" Dudek each time we
came to penogs. Don't forget also the headline "Liverpool 2 Trinidad
and Tobago 0" when 2 of their retards scored.Even then one of them
(see later) had to get above the T & T guy by pulling his dreadlocks! TINY TIM THE BLUE KANGAROO IN OZ I would just like to say what a magnificent job Tim Cahill has done (along with Aussie teammate Lucas Neil) since returning to Australia from their World Cup exploits. Not only did Tiny and the rest of his teammates play every minute of the world cup like it was their last on a football pitch (refreshingly different from a few other teams I can think of), upon his return to Oz Instead of doing what most professional footballers do by trying to avoid the limelight and press, to spend much deserved time with their family and friends, Tim has gone out of his way to put football (soccer) on the map over here in Australia (god knows it is about time). Tiny has done countless TV and Radio interviews and always comes across as a down to earth kind of bloke, who loves playing for the green and gold! Equally as important, in every interview I heard, he commented about how he loved playing for the blues. Tim truly has become a national hero and has made certain he will never pay for a pint in any pub in Australia again! CHRIS UPSTONE, Perth, Western Australia. (05/07/06) Goodison or Analfield I spent the day at Goodison today attending a conference with work. The month before we did our conference at Analfield in some crappy dirty room with shitty stinking toilets and catering provided by some moonlighting dinner lady. (I attended sporting my EFC tie lads and a face that read 'gobshites') Well today I have to say that Everton did us proud and put those armchair Kopites firmly in their place. We used the Vice presidents lounge which was very smartly done out and we were provided with excellent business facilities and amazing catering. At lunch (top grub) one of the staff heard me and a fellow blue talking about the mighty blues and told us we could eat our food in the directors box. It was amazing, we had Goodison Park to ourselves for one hour. Everyone at the club treated us like royalty. Thanks Everton. Gav Davies. (05/07/06) AJ Money From Rooney Sale Well
I have to write in and just say how utterly appalled I was to see England
dumped out of the world cup (Specially after the Argies were knocked out
) I have to admit I felt very sorry for Wayne Rooney when he got sent
off for what to me looked like a foul on him. Ronaldo I will never forget
what he did to a kid at the game a few seasons ago when Utd beat us 4-3
Those who were there will know what I mean anyway that day I got a clear
indication that Ronaldo was a bad tempered ego driven little boy. Now
for Rooney well i think they both deserve each other and I hope it becomes
a hate match between the two of them they are actually both of the same
breed Greedy Little boys who think they are gods. With a bit of luck Rooney
will go to real Madrid for 60M and we will get 10% to fund a few more
players. More Blues than Reds I'm sure you have already spotted this, but going into the world cup semi finals, there are more blues still in the competition then dirty red men!! And which players cost England. the 2 from the shite! Come home safe Nuno! Neil Tompsett. (05/07/06) I E-MAILED A FEW DAYS AGO TO SAY I COULDNT GIVE 2 FUCKS FOR ENGLAND. NOW,AFTER THE PORTUGAL GAME, I CAN HAPPILY SAY THAT TWO FUCKING KOPITES AND A FAT GREEDY MANC COST US THE GAME!! I WILL BE DINING OUT ON THAT FOR MONTHS TO COME.DONT FORGET TO GIVE THESE USELESS TWATS MORE STICK THAN EVER NEXT TIME THEY VISIT GOODISON. EVEN IF (LIKE ME) YOU WEREN'T ARSED ANYWAY!! STEVE PARKEND. (05/07/06) Comedy venue... No surprise to Blues Someone
has finally realised the proper definition/use for Analfield. I have just
received a copy of the Official guide for the LIVERPOOL COMEDY FESTIVAL
2006 complete with it's promise of "more fun and laughs in the July
sunshine" to be enjoyed at various venues around Liverpool. "So
what...." I hear you say, but if you look inside the guide for the
official list of venues to be used (inside the back page) there for all
to see Analfield listed as No 1 venue for the Festival. So finally the
rest of the world is being told something Blues have known for years... Here we go again. The
head of the Moyes Hate Club, Chris Simpson
is at it again. First of all he suspects I am a Rednose - of course, hence
my EFC season ticket held since 1984. I would like to let you know that my grandfather played for Everton in 1933 and his son played for wolves in 1949 (both named James Dunn and born on same birth dates). They are the only father and son ever to win FA CUP winners medals 1933 Everton and 1949 Wolves. Now that’s trivia. David Gibbs. (05/07/06) Where's Bjarni Vidarsson? Bjarni was supposed to be the next wonder kid when he arrived, but he's now disappeared off the squad list on the official site. Has he gone or what? He's no longer in the academy squad either. Can anyone cast any light on this please? Chris. (05/07/06) Are we close? Have we reached the stage Evertonians will no longer feel inferior to the big boys, spending millions will it make us happy, I think at long last we are looking forward to the coming season. Moyes spending spree this past summer makes me happy. The Midfield will be the question mark though will we be strong enough to challenge the Man utd, Chelsea's, Liverpool's of this world? Still a lot of work needed, but a thank you for the efforts. All we need is the Evertonians to get behind the team as if they don't already. No one can carry a team like the Everton crowd, COYB. John Lea. (05/07/06) What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail info@bluekipper.com |
