I suggest David Moyes makes Walter Smith a ‘buy one get one free’ offer. Buy David Weir and get McFadden free. If only!! John McAllister. (16/01/07) Uncomfortable The next time Moyes is interviewed on TV and asked about transfer window activity, in this window, he should keep his head up and look directly at the camera, in giving his answer. For when he was asked on camera at the weekend " will there be any incoming players"? he looked at the interviewer, and said "we are always looking"! Whereupon, he looked straight down at the ground! Be honest and tell the truth, instead of being misleading and leading the fans a merry dance! Mal (trueblue), But not holdings! (16/01/07) I started going to Goodison in 1960 (we lost 0-1 to West Ham in my first game). I’ve been a season ticket holder since lord knows when, and I hardly ever miss a home game, despite most home games being further to travel than away's for the last fifteen years. I currently make the round-trip from London every game, and I’m rapidly beginning to wonder why I bother. The garbage we’ve seen on the pitch for the last two games – Blackburn and Reading – is offensive to loyal fans. I try to believe Moyes is a good manager. We all make mistakes, but being too stingy to accept there was a going-rate for quality players when we were in the Champions League qualifiers was a big blunder. We had the money and were in a position to attract quality, and he blew it. “Resting” Victor for the recent Man City game after the lad had scored two goals was bordering on criminal. He was tired? Don’t make me laugh! Victor and his peers enjoy levels of fitness most of us can only imagine. I know the Premiership is tough, but nothing will convince me an 18-yr old cannot recover in 48 hours, unless they are injured, which VA wasn’t. Not changing the team at 0-3 down at half time against Blackburn? Shocking. What Moyes effectively communicated was that he thought the first half performance was acceptable. IT BLOODY-WELL WASN’T! What really bugs me is the excuses he’s started making. All this “Great spirit amongst the lads” rubbish. There was great spirit amongst me and my mates when we went on holiday, but that’s what it was – a HOLIDAY! I don’t want great spirit at work – I want determination, and I haven’t seen that since the Newcastle game. I’m also sick of “x apologises to the fans” (usually Phil Neville, who at least understands the debt). Stop apologising, stop saying you owe us and PAY UP! This dross is no longer worth a day of my life, the cost of my season ticket and 70 bloody quids’ worth of petrol every other week. But then Z Cars starts and the drug kicks in again… COYB, Old Fart. (16/01/07) Buy Trundle I wish i knew what the answer was.We might as well try to buy Trundle,at least he loves Everton and knows where the goal is. I'm serious. Regularly Disgruntled Evertonian............DYLAN MORGAN. (16/01/07) Another weekend, another shambles. Let's be honest Reading at home should be a banker, yeah they've done tremendously since they've stepped up and they deserve the plaudits from the media for being in the top half at this point in the season, the reality is Reading play the survivalist brand of football that has become so prevalent in the Premiership, defend vigorously, hope to scramble a goal and chop down any player that exhibits the potential flair that threatens your team. Disagree? Then you weren't at Goodison and you watched the edit produced by Match of the Day. The formula is tried and tested and the proponents are the professionally schooled managers who, on average, season after season achieve the maximum from their lean squads of mixed ability players which repeatedly, or should I say depressingly, are a homogeneous mix of journeymen, home grown talent and one or two astute ventures into the lower leagues or foreign markets. If during a season they get a couple of decisions and the rub of the green they finish nearer the top if not nearer the bottom. Ring any bells? The modern game is so financially driven that to have an adventurous manager without the massive investment required to fund top players is financial suicide. On successive weekends managers who are graduates of this survivalist school have visited us, the difference, in my opinion, between Everton and these sides has been their teams work rates. Throughout the ninety minutes, on both occasions, their plan was to get to the ball in numbers, gain possession and then stretch us across the park. By contrast Everton, again on both occasions, have dithered at the back, exhibited appalling movement off the ball and have failed to convert numerous chances in front of goal. In doesn't take a genius to predict Paul Jewell's team talk prior to next weekend's game, " right lads Everton, bunch of lazy bastards, close them down fast, take out Arteta to limit any decent distribution and pepper the keeper with a few long range shots as he's a bit suspect, if Johnson breaks through just bring him down, he holds on to the ball too long and no referee will give a pen" Sounds
easy? Well when you pay to sit there and have watch as your team, at
home and 0:3 down, passing the ball around their own penalty area because
nobody wants it and then conceding a forth, I tell you it's easy to
criticise. It's easy to criticise when your team gives away a stupid
goal, struggles to compete, squanders numerous chances and then on equalising
with eight minutes left on the clock run around and waste time celebrating
like they've scored the winner. The only good thing I saw all afternoon
was David Moyes sprinting up the line and screaming at them to get back
for the re-start, you see that's passion and that's the other thing
that's lacking in this Everton side; Passion. If I were Moyes I'd have
the Kipper shirts quoting
dying for Everton and how much an Evertonian is worth framed on the
walls, I'd have a picture of Kendal with his quote about a marriage
and I'd have another of Bill Dean telling that he died in the place.
I'd wind them up and send them out of the dressing room to Z cars and
have them crawl off the pitch at full time after giving everything.
They'd fully understand the only Latin phrase they're ever likely to
learn and I'd have them appreciate that pulling on the illustrious royal
blue shirt isn't the same as playing for Reading, Watford, Newcastle,
Boro, Sheffield, Bolton, Charlton, Portsmouth and the rest who are happy
with the odd decent placing and staying in the top flight for as long
as possible. On Manoeuvres Alright lads, currently in Gib' with the Navy on a Med trip, flying my girl out to Barcelona when we are alongside in Feb. Gladly my ship won't be there when they play the shite, (she will of wanted to go an all she's one of them). Anyway's, just a quick one to say keep up the good work, between you lads an me Dad, you're me only source of proper news on my beloved blues! Take care lads, MEA Mark "Scouse" Leary. (13/01/07) Time for Kenwright To Go! I really don’t think Everton’s fortunes will change until blue Bill steps down, he’s an Evertonian though and through, but that’s the problem! Who will give us the money we need without having some sort of control! Bill wants the money but doesn’t want that person/s to have a say, it’s ridiculous. Great site! Jennie. (13/01/07) Show me a bad loser Show me a bad loser and I’ll show you a winner! Just look at the top 3 managers in the premiership; Mourinio, Wenger and Ferguson. All 3 of them are winners, they all look like they want to fight you if you try to take a point from them, this aggression is transferred to their players and their players know only too well that if they don’t give 100% they’ll get a roasting. Personally I’d sooner get a bollocking from Moyes than be on the receiving end of Ferguson’s hairdryer treatment and he’s a pensioner! They also have excellent coaching staff around them. Unfortunately at Everton we have Davey Moyes who seems to be a really nice bloke! Nice blokes don’t win football matches consistently. We need to have a manager that the players respect and fear, and some coaching staff with some fresh ideas. Bolton for example are no better than us yet they are difficult to beat, why? Moyes attitude after the game against Blackburn was poor, Oh well, it was one of those things attitude! What would any of the above 3 managers have done at half time if they were being beaten 3.0 ? There would have been blood! We weren’t up for the game, we were weak in midfield, we were too easy to beat and the buck stops with you Davey. I try to be positive about the football club I have supported all my life but his record speaks for itself, the time has come. Ropemeister. Chester. (13/01/07) Moyes and All Things Blue Absolutely gutted with that FA Cup result. Disgraceful. I wouldn't call myself a "Moyes out" but I am getting sick and tired of Everton not appearing to have any clue when they go onto the pitch. Prior to emigrating to Australia I had witnessed numerous Everton teams not building on initial success like Chelsea (pre Abromovich) Utd and Arsenal. We all know how that wonderful 80's team was allowed to break up, but not even after winning the FA Cup in 95 was any genuine progress made, (in fact like the vast majority of blues I couldn't believe that within two years of that wonderful win we would be biting nails again desperate for the results of how teams in the relegation battle with us had done.) The greatest opportunity this club will probably have in a number of years was wasted last season, following qualification for the C L. Such a great feel good factor about the club, plenty of money to spend from the Rooney money and league place plus a manager voted the best in the premiership, what more do you need to convince top class players to sign for the club. I was looking at the numerous web sites every five minutes, waiting for the signings that would have cemented our position as one of the top clubs in the country, and who did we end up with? Kroldrup, Davies, Valente, Van De Meyde, Neville and Beattie. Complete waste of money. We could have signed two top class players and still had money over. Our midfield is as bad as when Moyes first took over, he has no idea what formation to play up front and is regularly struggling to find a fit full back. Personally I would love Moyes to turn it around, but I just cannot see it happening. We are not mentioned with anyone and we are just going to be as pissed off as we were last January. Any chance the SFA may approach him for the job as manager? Fantastic site lads, first web site I look at when I get into work, I just hope over the next few days there will be a five star fishy next to a top class midfielder! Gareth Downunder. (13/01/07) Shameless Looks like shandy Andy Van der Meyde to me! Trevor Askew. (13/01/07) Things Must Be Bad It shows how much of a desperate situation moyes finds him self in , due to his lack of ability to build a good strong squad , when Carsley is still getting a game. Now don't get me wrong a few years ago he was playing well, but when he come back from his injury we all probably thought he was limited to Carling cup games and emergencies .All of a sudden Moyes is hoping he can hold the midfield together. To many time this season he just backs off inviting people to shoot (the Lampard goal is the obvious one ). He isn't in the team to open up defences or to break the back of the net , but his all round game just isn't up to premiership standard , hence why Blackburn got shut of him. Thank god Cahill his back soon , and after Carsley is dropped back to where he belongs, you never know Moyes might even go out and buy another midfielder and drop Osman. Superbluefeb83 (13/01/07) Bring On Reading Blackburn doesn't seem so bad anymore. Don't get me wrong I was gutted about Sunday and had such a bad sulking induced hangover that I nearly had to have monday off work. However, the world is now a much better place to be after Arsenals youth side gubbed the RS 6-3 last night. That was without a doubt the most amusing 90 minutes of football I have ever ever ever ever seen. It warmed the cockles of my heart to see them get torn to shreds by a player who was deemed not to be good enough to play for Wolves. I was properly hacked off when Arsene's kids knocked us out at Goodison in an earlier round but this almost made up for it. I haven't been this cheery in ages. The result wasn't the best bit though. The best bit was listening to TalkSport and 5 Live and listening to all those red pundits squirming. It would appear that Spoony, Mick Quinn, Graham Beacroft, Alvin Martin and the rest are not crowing quite so much any more. Do you have to be a red to get a job as a pundit? Hansen, Lawrenson, Barnes, Venison? Shame on the broadcasters. It is a really really sad state of affairs that the only thing making us Evertonians smile at the moment is the fact that liverpool are crap. Oh well, i'll take what i can get. keep up the good work rafa!!!! Bring on Reading!!! I also wouldn't be upset if Watford won at the weekend! Spencer Bishop. (12/01/07) Out Of Both Cups In January Another January and out of both cups again, no wonder no bugger wants to sign for us. I'll say it again, more transparency from the board please and Moyes, will you please get on with coaching the team and stop whinging and making excuses for piss poor players who aren't pulling their weight. Moyes - he's Warnock in disguise!!!!!! Unfair to point the finger at Howard either, especially if balls are going in having been twatted in from 25-30-35-40 yards out, no chance in hell, all freak balls. Give him a break, four games ago he was the next best thing, and he's still better than Richard "Frank Spencer" Wright. Wright is out of contract in the summer, (money down the pan), off load him now, get a price before he walks on a free. He's a liability, get shot of him now. Beattie is shite, admit it, he cannot be arsed and how he can wear the No.9 shirt is beyond me, Angell in disguise, you're Angell in disguise. I am getting slightly hacked off with all this Jekyll and Hyde football, get it sorted. I want my jollies to Europe next year. Yours wanting to get wankered on the Costa in my Royal Blues. Rich Welsh Blues. (12/01/07) David France Collection I read Denis Byrne's comments (9/1/07) with respect but sadness. Denis is right that this is a very special collection. It is unique in its coverage, outstanding in its depth and in terms of sheer quality unbeatable. But attacking the club for not spending £2m on this collection is wrong. I don't want us to lose the collection but to say that you would rather bear the pain of RELEGATION is something I cannot understand. History is important and so is tradition, but frankly I see little value in "celebrating" either if the club does a Sheffield Wednesday or more recently a Leeds. To get relegated would finish us for a decade at least and I'm sorry but I find no consolation in saying "well done Bill you secured a wonderful collection we can look at from the lower leagues for years to come". Personally I don't think £2m really will be the deciding factor between staying up and down but if there is the slightest chance it could be, then I'd spend it on a player in a heartbeat. Short sighted ? Maybe. Realistic ? I think so. Denis, you should be asking this question of Evertonians in the street not just the "club". I think that the Trustees may tell you that of the funds raised to date very very little has come from donations from our relatively large fan base which, if everyone managed a fiver would see us well on the way to the required sum. I've sent some dosh and I bet you have sent a lot more. But really, you argue that this is about the Peoples Club, Heritage and a collection that broken up would be a huge loss. Yet many are simply not concerned. They do not share the vision and its not because they are stupid. They have a different view and different priorities. I think we should go the extra mile and up our contribution to 500k but that's it. If we the fans cannot see the importance of this gem in our midst then the "club" shouldn't be criticised for refusing to spend £2m on it. Cheers, Mark (Rusty Man). (12/01/07) Davies Must Stay Love
the site- Really really do, anyway, enough grovelling, please tell me
that Gossip I have heard from a mate who works in Ninian park, regarding
Simon Davies doing one to Fulham is a load of bull. OK- he's not brill,
but neither was Alan Harper- and we all missed him! (Well I did!) Well,
once again I hate to say, "told you so" but I was very concerned
about the game against Blackburn and I did mention that in my last e-mail
that we may well fall at the first hurdle. Mr Moyes once again picked
the wrong team selection, I am not a great lover of Mark Hughes, but
what I do respect about him is that he puts a team out that will battle
in the middle of the park, so what does Mr Moyes do, put Leon Osman
in the middle hmm, I think Leon is a good skilful player, but he does
his best work playing just behind the lone striker, he is not a combative
midfield player, and struggled trying to come to terms with the Blackburn
central midfield players. Everton Collection After Sunday's crap the best thing EFC can do is purchase "The Everton Collection" for its loyal supporters. No more nonsense from "Bully" Bill, "Luvvie" Bill and "Dithering" Dave.......They owe it to us and more. Blueernie. (12/01/07) Blackburn Absolutely poor game, get Moysie out of our club looks like a 1 season wonder to me. The Rangers job is open for the ginger b*****d so let him go and wreck their seasons. I thought we were going all out for the F.A. Cup this year well 4-1 at home in the first round against Blackburn isn't very good is it. I WANT MOYESIE OUT !!! Ellis Nickson. (12/01/07) It's
not so much Moyes's team selection and tactics I'm concerned about,
but his after-match comments! "It wasn't our day. Everything they
did went in, everything we did didn't". Whose fault's that? I am
convinced that Moyes, nice man though he is, has finally lost the plot
totally. His comment that after half time everyone in the ground thought
we had a great chance of coming back into it I find totally fatuous.
Let's face it, Everton were a total shambles from start to finish and
were played off the park by a team that showed six changes from the
previous game. Poor! Firstly
the team was too light weight in the middle of the park. Anichebe as
good a prospect as he is, gets no respect what so ever of opposing How Much Longer? The recent cup debacle against Blackburn only heaps fuel on my crusade to see the back of Davey Davey Moyes! How much longer is he going to get? Sunday was awful and 3 down what doe she do.......? brings Naysmith on of Nuno? could we not have gone 3 at the back and gone for it? Vaughn comes on for Yobo??, too late again and the only other attacking option on the bench! Will Young's mate never even warmed up!!! Set pieces?? can we beat the first man? shots on goal every one lofted over the bar, another good attendance!!!!!! we might as well go to Kirkby cos we are fast becoming a laughing stock! I see more and more kids in red shite wear the poor bastards who love the blues are fast vanishing! So what now? no fuckker is going to want to sign for a club with nothing left to play for! including a place in Europe! Mid table that's we will be as long as that prick is in charge! who do we get to replace him I hear you die hard moyes fans shout!! ANY FUCKKER! My lad wants to support Chelsea now how can I possibly turn him round!? "if you know your history?" well you bleeding well need to cos barring big Joe's FA cup in 95, 1987, 20 years ago since we last won the league!!! Ok money has come in and ruined the game but surely a club of Everton's standing could have attracted some of this? one final point if Dicke Wright had conceded those goals on Sunday he would have been the scapegoat! Timmy is leading a charmed life between the sticks and is gettin complacent! drop the twitching get for a bit give him the required kick up the arse!!! Matt. one disgruntled street end season ticket holder. (12/01/07) Just Unbelievable I
am just shocked at the hammering by Blackburn.
what the hell is going on with our so called players? Players Hiding
all over the park and to add insult to injury Mark Hughes explains that
they felt the balls were very light and were unpredictable when in Flight
so they thought they would have a few early shots and see what happens.
Your telling me mate everything Blackburn did and kicked was monumental
it has exposed some key weaknesses not only in our gutless players but
also in David Moyes's Back room staff. Blackburn Game I do not understand how moyesy can defend the blues after getting beat 4-1 by blackburn on Sunday afternoon. I for one was totally disgusted in the teams performance. I decided to take my 4 year old son to his first everton game as i felt confident before the game that we could get a result. How wrong could i have been. Moyesy needs to sort it out in midfield. We need someone in the middle of the park who is six foot plus who can win the ball. Not the likes of Osman, Davies or any of the other short arse players we have. Get a grip moyes, are you blind. Neil McC. (12/01/07) Taxi For Moyes I am writing this e mail as I sit pondering the future of Everton Football Club. 4.5 yrs ago we took on thi bright new manager who would lead us to great things, erm, what fucking great things. Getting knocked out of the FA cup by Shrewsbury who were then relegated to the conference. Mediocre positions in the premiership apart from one fluke season. From the fluke season getting battered in the Uefa cup after getting knocked out at stage 1 of the champions league.Shite signings, Beattie, Kroldrup, Davies, VDM, to name a few. Leaving the youngsters to rot or get so pissed of they leave. And a great FA cup run for 2006/7. Ohh what a great young Manager- NOT It's
time for Moyes and his fucking useless twatish backroom staff to fuck
of in a TAXI. I will pay for the Taxi as I am sure would thousands of
totally fucked off Evertonians. Moyes ranks along side Walker as one
of the worst Managers in Everton history. Chris Perry. (12/01/07).
