Stadium Vote

Let common sense prevail

Just a few simple words! We were the first team in Liverpool, Our fan bas is in Liverpool this is our city! while moving to Kirkby initially wont be the end of the world, in the long run we will be in danger of losing our identity! In 50 yrs time people will think of only the red shite as the only team in Liverpool, The Derby will become a regional derby! I couldn't care less what anyone says this is purely a money minded move! It cannot be allowed to happen, we are not going to fold next year if we don't move, the entrance of setanta to the TV ring have boosted all clubs revenue! A big new ground is not the be all and end all, look at Sunderland!!! Middlesbrough!!! we may move to Kirkby and continue to me mid table wannabes! lets get it right on the pitch first and foremost then we will be able to attract genuine interest and the scum red shite loving council will have to keep us in the city boundaries!

Please don't let this happen! use your heart when the time comes to vote! the lies we are being told that this is our only option are just that!! lies! we must remain in this city, our city, our home! Matt (lower gwladys street L4 season ticket holder) I don't wanna be a L36 postcode season ticket holder!! (26/01/07)

Stadium Move

- When Everton first played on Stanley Park it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Priory Road it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Anfield it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Goodison Park it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton eventually play in Kirkby it will be outside the city boundary.

Knowsley is an artificial council rimming Liverpool and should be incorporated into Liverpool. This came about as Liverpool Council refused to incorporate Kirkby and Halewood in the city as the Boundaries Commission suggested. Kirkby is in all intents a part of Liverpool, as is Bootle, Huyton, Birkenhead, Wallasey, etc. There is talk of extending Liverpool city to rightly incorporate Knowsley and parts of Sefton.

The city always followed Everton.

The protracted stadium move over now 10 years has eaten at the club - this results from poor club management. From the biggest in the UK
to second tier. There are no Arabs waiting with pot of gold ready to save us - Everton have a poor image. If we stay at Goodison Park be
prepared for Championship football. Roll on Kirkby. The sooner we move in the better. The link below: Everton FC at Anfield complete with stands. The 1889 map clearly shows the city boundary running through the current Kop:

Old Swan, Kirkby...it's all relative

Dear The Bear. Old Swan..Jesus, where I come from that's the suburbs, it's even got a 2-digit district number and pubs. You're even further out than Edge Hill, the final frontier. I used to go to Old Swan on days out during the Big Holidays. I'm sick of woolies telling us Scousers to go to Kirkby. Kind Regards. Phil deFluter. Granby Street. Princes Park. Liverpool 8 (note not f'n "Toxteth"..until `81 that was just a signpost in Park Road..only outsiders and nouveau domiciled call L8 Toxteth). (26/01/07)

Goodison For-Everton Group

The Goodison For-Everton Group met with Warren Bradley, Leader of Liverpool City Council, on Friday 5 January 2007. The purpose of the meeting was to establish what help has already been provided by Liverpool City Council and Warren Bradley, to ensure Everton Football Club's stadium remains inside the boundary of the City of Liverpool. Additionally, the Goodison For-Everton Group also tried to establish what future help to
Everton Football Club (for the same purpose) might be available from Liverpool City Council.

Following the meeting, the Goodison For-Everton Group can confirm;

- Over the last 6 months, Liverpool City Council have discussed 2 specific sites (one in the North of the City, one in the South of the City) as potential stadium venues with Everton Football Club. Liverpool City Council have additionally contributed to feasibility studies for each site, which have been provided to Everton Football Club.

- Liverpool City Council have confirmed that within the last 18 months, Everton Football Club have not submitted any plan, nor discussed any possibility of re-developing the Goodison Park site with Liverpool City Council. Furthermore, Liverpool City Council do not rule out the possibility of Everton Football Club being able to secure planning permission (including possible expansion of the current footprint) for a re-developed Goodison Park.

Goodison for-Everton understands that dialogue is planned in January 2007, between Warren Bradley and other members of Liverpool City Council and senior representatives of Everton Football Club. We urge both sides to use these discussions to fully explore every possibility of redeveloping Goodison Park and failing that providing a stadium site for Everton Football Club within the boundary of the City of Liverpool." No To Kirkby

To move to Kirkby would be a fucking disaster. Who the fuck wants to go there? Once we're out of the way in kirkby it would leave the redshite to get all the money from any future grants while we were left in the wilderness with fuck all. Any talented kids would then rather sign for their local club ie the redshite than move to some lower place in Kirkby. I can't believe those beauts who would throw away everything that is Everton in their pursuit of a new stadium you would have Dixie spinning in his grave. We would become a laughing stock like the MK Dons lets, just refit Goodison. We shall not be moved you can stick ya fucking kirkby up ya arse. Chris Simpson. (16/01/07)

Stadium Vote

After reading all the views on the stadium i thought i would add my opinion. So many individuals in life are so short sighted they are unable to see past the end of their nose! Without any shadow of a doubt we must leave Goodison Park. After seeing what the CountyRdBlue sent in, i felt why shouldn't i voice mine!!!! I've spent all my life going to Goodison and yes its given me some of the greatest moments of my entire life just like it will have many of us. But anybody who follows everton home and away like i do understands that it can no longer support a premiership team. Its more than a corporate thing, its an average fan thing. The facilities at Goodison are pathetic for the average fan!! Firstly there is your seat! Then
the toilet facilities, then the overpriced food and drinks. The queuing for the last two facilities is a joke. If you were a loser and only went to
goodison to watch everton when you felt like it then this may not annoy you as much as someone who goes to every game home and away like i do. Someone like that will not see whats on offer at other grounds and appreciate how much of a joke goodison, sadly, is becoming for the average supporter let alone the corporate prawn sarny eaters.

The atmosphere has gone at Goodison which is sad. I mainly blame Moyes for this, but that's another subject altogether. Whatever you all say about the board, they will not rip the club apart like an abramovich will eventually do or this Dubai investment group involved with liverpool. Everyone knows this. So why not support the board. The only way everton can generate money is through a new stadium. There is no other option than Kirkby. Staying at Goodison is out of the question because of the council wont allow them to build. Anywhere else in the city boundary is out because the council wont give Everton an alternative site, yet they will let liverpool do what they want. The council is the reason Everton have to move out the boundary. So anyone who blames the board for this is a fool blame the council they are using your taxes. It is entirely Liverpool councils fault why everton have to move outside of the boundary.

This however is not a move out of liverpool. Kirkby is liverpool, just ask alan stubbs, just as huyton is liverpool just ask gerrard, such as bootle
is, just ask carragher. All are from outside the city boundary yet all classed as scousers just ask the echo, which is a liverpool fc paper!!! Everyone changes the terminology of a scouser to suit themselves and its a joke. Am i more of a scouser than someone from halewood because i live in old swan??? I know a few lads who would say otherwise. I'm sure everyone does. Its pathetic. Am i more of scouser because i have a purple bin and my mate in kirkby has a maroon one??? I would like to end by saying real Evertonians will follow Everton wherever they go be it kirkby or mars. Those who don't may as well support liverpool. The Bear

Tesco's Motive

I have to say I agree with most of county road blues comments, my views come from a similar position. I don't believe that the site in Kirby is at the choice of the club. If you consider the sitings of Tesco's already in this city then they have it pretty well covered, including the expansion on Mather Ave. However, despite the fact that I haven't been to Kirkby for some time, nothing against Kirkby, I've had no call to go there, I can assume that the area isn't covered by Tesco hence the reason they want to get involved.
Q 1 Would this involve a depot for Tesco? (It would explain their interest in that particular site.)
Q 2 What exactly is Tesco' prime motivation in this development? (it isn't football)

We have been messed about by LCC, NWDA et al, as mentioned it's to do with the re-branding of the city into a 'world class city', Everton doesn't fit into this project, if you read a recent article in the recent issue of When skies are grey regarding the Capital of Culture launch programme you will know that already. I do feel we are being edged out because we aren't fashionable, doubt if we ever have, but that's OUR way. I don't want to 'move with the times' if it means selling our soul for the want of a dollar or to the highest bidder.

As Evertonians we have had to be patient. Our success has always come in cycles, and despite the changing face of football, we are due one quite soon, when the other lot are absorbed into the economy of a different country I would like us to still represent this city as we always have.
Success, as Chelsea, Manure and the Redsh*te have proved, can be bought, I like to think that most recently we have earned or achieved success and certainly wouldn't want to be seen and thought of in the same way as them.

We need a lot more clarity from the club on the move. Their intentions must be laid out in front of us, all proposals need to be vetted by us. Not because of just 'in the city' mentality but also because there would be no point in a business sense going down a route that ultimately the 'consumer' (that's us) turns against the product (that's EFC). As it is now, there is too much speculation and rumour mainly due to the fact that the club, Knowsley MBC and Tesco have 'announced' a proposal of a move to Kirby, with no other information. This is our heritage and our kids too, and for that alone we should be told more as and when it happens, otherwise, another fiasco is in the making. Andy. (16/01/07)

Kirkby Move Keep It Part 2

When I first wrote into kipper regarding our ground move (Kirkby move, keep it), I think that some of you may have got the wrong end of the stick. What I'm objecting to, is being pushed around by the money men, the various councils, the chambers of commerce and the plethora of 'partnerships' that are ruining everything in this country from the NHS to our Education system … we really do not need this in the game, we've got enough problems. I feel that the board are not listening to the fans but to corporate or commercial interests instead:- it seems the fans no longer have an influence on the clubs direction.

To those of you out there thinking that we'll get a 'great deal' from Tesco, I say that you are gullible at best. The guv'nor of Tesco is a blue, but just like J*hns*n, I bet he's also a loyal is a red when the balance sheet tells him to be. Or does everyone forget when agent J*hns*n was (allegedly) supporting his failing business empire with our money. It may come as a shock to some to realise that Tesco is a multi national business empire who's priorities are to Tesco's shareholders… and no-one else.

Oh yeah, Mr Tesco also has a reputation is for being tight fisted and ruthless when it comes to turning a profit for minimum investment:- that does not bode well for us. Believe me, when the global financial wind blows hard (and it will), it will be the EFC windmill which will be continually pumping money into his failing business ... only this time it will be on a tectonic scale (or he'll put us into more debt like the glaziers have done with manure or worse still, we could end up like dirty leeds).

If Mr Tesco is a really true blue then surely he has the financial clout to keep us where we belong and walk all over this council if required ... We all know that money talks, so lets hear you shouting for us Mr Tesco.

As for us, the fans:- we should be fighting tooth and nail to stay where we belong, we should be putting pressure on this lousy pink inspired council from all angles, we should not let them get away with the creation of the corporate brand of 'Liverpool' ... crapital of culture, the pink city.

I've every confidence in Moysie keeping us in the premiership (even with our limited funds), so lets not dive at the first bunch of tenners/stadia that is waved in our direction. In the current climate we should hold our nerve, have faith and in time, an investor will turn up who does have the clubs interest and traditions at heart. The upside is that the longer we stay here, the more we annoy the pinkie councillors, their partners, our so called MP's and the pink norwegian home support. It shouldn't be taken as an offence to anyone that we want to stay within this city. Remember that we're all scousers, we're the peoples club ..... but we voted to stay here, so lets fight for it. CountyRdBlue. (13/01/07)

Move On

Re :Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum - Sir Terry Leahy was educated at St Edward's College not SFX as stated. Move on and stop living in the past, lets build our own identity. Let's go somewhere that we are wanted not pander to some red tinted corrupt councillors who are determined to run down the City. The Science Scholar. (13/01/07)

Anywhere Will Do

What ever happened to 'we don't care what the red shite say, what the fuck do we care, coz we only know that there's gonna be a show when the Everton boys are there!' ay, who gives a monkey's toss if we move down the road, to a place where the people are nothing but scousers? Where ever we are we should be supported. I don't understand how anyone can call themselves a supporter, and then moan about a proposed massive move in terms of the clubs future. It doesn't make sense to me. Even if we move over the water, or further than Kirkby. I don't care. I will continue to purchase my season ticket! COYB. Curwinkledinkle. (13/01/07)

For The Good Of The Club

The new stadium debate seems to be causing a stir amongst everyone at the moment. As an Everton fan that doesn't live in Liverpool, (does that make me less credible as a fan?) I feel that the move can only help the club in terms of keeping up and hopefully progressing higher than other clubs in the premiership, as an increase in revenue, smarter facilities and maybe even more future investment by Tesco can only be a good thing to attract more fans away from the red side of merseyside and over to then Blue.

To get to games, those of us who live out of the city have to travel some distance to watch the team, and yes, we can't go out for a few beers straight after the match because we have to drive back, but a lot of people I know who support the club make this journey every time we play, week in, week out. So come on folks, open your eyes and see that it will be a pain to have to get transport to the stadium, but after a few weeks it will seem like nothing, and remember that some fans have to do this already. For the good of the club. Rob C. Shropshire.
(13/01/07)

Back Leahy

If moving outside the political boundaries of Liverpool means we aren't a liverpool club, then because i live outside of Everton does this mean most of us aren't Everton fans? How about those outside even Liverpool? are they not Everton fans? This is ridiculous. Nobody is remembering that when Terry Leahy retires, he'll be a board member for the club - and he is fucking loaded. If we want to be able to compete in the future, we cant ignore this investment in our club. Kevin Dacey. (13/01/07)

No To Stadium Move

I think that Moving to a new stadium would be a mistake to be honest because like in much new purpose built stadiums for example Sunderland or Manchester city apart from derby days they never fill the stadium and in result of this it makes the fans look like they are not committed, So I think that building a new stadium at the same size or just staying at goodison would be a better option unless we can be promised a capacity crowd every weekend or midweek game. Chris Marsden 15 from bramhall (13/01/07)

Beware

Whether you're pro or anti-Kirkby, what has happened to that other old venerable club the Arse since they've moved to the Emirates stadium bears a brief thought.

While their new stadium is undoubtedly nice and shiney, the atmosphere absolutely stinks. the extra 20,000 they've got through the doors are far
from being real fans. many turn up 10 mins after the game has started and leave 10 mins early, even if the game is on a knife edge. in addition, there is nothing of the atmosphere of the old Highbury ground. for a start, the seating areas around the pitch slope too shallowly, dissipating the connection between crowd and team. going to the Emirates now is very much like going to the cinema - the majority just sit and watch.

While I, like many others are embarrassed by the rickety Bullens rd stand...any new stadium...must repeat must be designed to help Evertonians
create an atmosphere. anything like the Emirates...and we're stuffed. N
ick West. (13/01/07)

Major Backer

Please understand, without a major backer ie TESCO Everton cannot afford to build a new stadium. It's Kirkby or stay as we are...so forget about any alternatives. Anon. (13/01/07)

Make Goodison into a Football shrine

The place to go is Kirkby. Why we find it hard to leave is the memories of past victories. Goodison will always be a special memory, but time has took it's toll on the old place. Lets get going, Onward Men into a Newer better world. The powers that be have spoken. Let them give the Evertonians a place to spread their ashes. Mine included. COYB. John Lea (13/01/07)

Yes To The Ground Move

Stadium, Money, Possible Sponsorship, 4 Mile difference... What's the problem? Say we have Liverpool Council in 1 hand, and Knowsley Council in the other. In the Liverpool hand, you have Anfield, the Shite, Stevie G, and a 999 year contract for Stanley Park for the Shite. At the bottom of the pile for Liverpool, you have Everton and Goodison Park. Us Blues are quite clearly 2nd best in Liverpool.

In the Knowsley hand, you have a possibility of a new stadium, money, and quite a bit of it, a possible sponsorship deal, and with a council who quite clearly wants us located somewhere in the council area. We're by far better off in Knowsley than in Liverpool. As I see it, and god forbid this happen, but Goodison Park could collapse, but even if it did, Liverpool Council would do fuck all about it. That's how I see it.

I say yes to the ground move, because Liverpool Council would do fuck to stop us. They're to busy giving all their money to the other team in Liverpool who's keepers constantly let in 3 goals or more. Liverpool Council stick up for the shite because they share the same name. Basically. bgreenway. (13/01/07)

St Luke's

Note for Andy Naybour. Don’t you fancy a compulsory purchase of St Luke’s as well then ? Steve Green. The Real Steve G. (13/01/07)

Move On

How can anybody suggest we redevelop goodison or the incredibly short sighted idea of adding a tier to the park end. I now reserve my judgement about watching games at the once famous old stadium preferring to watch Everton away from home due to the ancient facilities at Goodison. as someone who takes a disabled blue to matches the facilities at Goodison are embarrassing only Portsmouth are worse than ours. Goodison is now tired and past its 'sell by' it is time some people started living in the real world and woke up to the fact we simply have to leave Goodison to move forward as a club. bluesheik. (13/01/07)

Ground Options

I've just been reading the views on us moving from Goodison and felt compelled to write. Now I've not got any degrees in engineering but when i look at photo's of inside our ground and see the aerial view i can't see why we can't restructure the ground. Firstly we should take off the Park End roof and extend the seating area out into the car park then add a new tier, bollocks to the Directors parking spaces, once completed (it should be able to be done pre season ) this then should give us enough extra seats to close down Bullens or Gwladys St and replace these stands during the season, when one is finished those seated in the other are moved to the completed one. Once the 3 sides are done the main stand can be demolished and rebuilt, as the 4 sides are being built all the corporate boxes and welfare facilities can be added.

I know that feasibility studies have been carried out that say we can't do it but what are our options:
1 Demolish Goodison and share with the Shite for 2/3 years
2 Demolish Goodison and wait till the shite have moved into their new ground then use that for 2/3 years
3 Demolish Goodison and wait till the shite have moved to their new ground and use Analfield for 2/3 years
4 Or move to the new Tesco down the East Lancs

Oh or we could share with Wigan!! My main reasons for staying at Goodison are not about history although that is important but it is the livelihoods of the people who serve us well on matchdays, I would guess that the pubs, shops and chippies do 90% of their yearly trade on matchdays. What about them, maybe blue bill can get them jobs on the tills at Tesco !!! Si. Wigan. (13/01/07)
