Season Tickets Last season I paid £511 each for two tickets in the Upper Bullens. This season I can get the same tickets for £501. That is a saving of 1.9%. So where's the 10% reduction? Everton have based the 10% on the full price that you have to pay after the cut off date. But as 80% of fans bought before the cut off date that means that only 20% of season ticket holders can get the full 10% saving for this coming season. Talk about politicians and "spin", Wyness could give them a few lessons!!!! Regards. John. (01/03/07) Well Done Everton Well done Everton on the season ticket prices. They like many other clubs could have done Jack shit, knowing we'll buy the season ticket anyway. I know it's not much, but it's much better than a £40 increase. Billy. (01/03/07) Season Ticket Prices I
paid £474 for my paddock season ticket last year, because I bought
early. This coming season if I buy early it will cost £472. Where
is the 10% saving? It seems to me, this is a case of re-packaging an
old product rather A Spurs Fan On The Spurs Game Having read some of the comments I can feel some sympathy with the situation you are in. As a Spurs fan we also have a manager who has provided stability and achieved great things in a short space of time. On our day we can beat anyone (as can you), but every now and then the team, for whatever reason, don’t produce the goods. But for me the Manager is only one component, of a bigger picture. Admittedly it is his decisions that alter the context of every game, but the team that is available to him is dictated by revenue available to transfer players and whoever is your scout / person responsible for acquiring new talent. In our case, our inability to bring in the much maligned position of left midfield has been our Achilles, and our Director of Football (Wenger’s protégée) is ‘still looking’ over a year after starting his search. We also have a ‘first team coach’ in Chris Hughton of whom people are starting to ask questions as to his impact on the motivation / tactics for the first team. I think that also, as with ourselves, key people missing through injury has overtly affected performance. In particular Tim Cahill is a game turner for you, when he’s not on the team sheet, I know we at least stand a chance. Arteta also has moments of exceptional quality, but at times doesn’t seem to be up to the pace of the game. As for people calling for Moyes to go, I find it odd, and would ask if some of the people around him are making his position more difficult. As I don’t see your games week in, I can’t comment of your club structure and whether or not it is supporting your manager. But it would be interesting to know who people think that given the same resources would be a better manager for the club. To those that, IMO, are stupid enough to suggest that we should be questioning Jol’s position. I have yet to get a sensible response to the question ‘If not Jol then who?’, so I’d be interested to know who those calling for Moyes to go would have him replaced with? But remember, stability is far preferably to uncertainty (just ask Leeds and Saints fans about management changes in recent years), and Moyes can yet improve (maybe by changing the quality of the people around him) as he is still young in managerial terms. As an aside I’ve always had fairly good banter with toffee fans, and wish you all the best now we’ve played you. Be patient, you were better than Bolton, so it’s not all doom and gloom. And tell someone to kick Fabregas the next time you play the arse, they’ll miss him more than Henry on current form. Tricky the Spur. (01/03/07) T-Shirts Well done to Colin Fitz for a great email. He should get a copyright on the last line as I can see it being used on t-shirts and alike very soon!! Keep up the good work. Great site and keep hating the shite. Steve R (parkend) (01/03/07) David Moyes Legend David Moyes is a legend and everyone shouldn't be so hard because of the mistake he made against Tottenham. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have such as great team now and we wouldn't have got into the champs league a few years ago. Jay Hannon. (01/03/07) Everton Supporters Night out 9th March in Sydney The Sydney arm of the Everton Supporters Club Australia are booked into the Station Hotel, North Sydney for the 9th March. It is down the hill towards the city from the station on the corner of Walker street. If you go upstairs we have been allocated a good sized area in the far corner to your right as you approach the bar. They will cordon it off and we have the use of 3 screens. I will prepare and burn a mixed bag of goals from this season and stuff from You tube ( Big Dunc tribute, live crowd scenes from the 3-0 derby etc ) on to DVD. Any other DVD's you want showing let me know. We should be starting viewing around 7.00pm at the latest but meet any time after 5.00pm, I'll be there early to set up. We even have 1 of our comrades coming down from Queensland so I hope you Sydneysiders can make the effort to welcome him. Roy Adams. (01/03/07) Must Do Better Phil Neville's comments. I don't know if its just a case of needing to do better. Its more of a case of everyone needs to be on top of their game all the time to match the bigger teams outside of the top 4. I'm an avid Evertonian and after watching the Tottenham game I just don't think we possess the quality which they do. They seemed to control most of the game and their attacks looked more threatening. I think we are still a couple of players short of matching them. Even when we went to Tottenham and won 2-0 which was a fantastic result, It really easily could have gone the other way. I don't mean to be pessimistic about the team because its the best group of players I think we've had since kanchelskis and co. But if we want to achieve most fans ambitions of finishing just behind the top 4, then I think we could do with another striker possibly Nugent as he's got great potential and is a blue. Also another player of Arteta's quality in the middle, someone who can win us a game with a goal like Jenas' on Wednesday night. Its easy to boo the manager when things aren't going well but he's still put us in a much better position than we were in when he took over. I see bright things for the future of the club if we can keep hold of our better players. Andy Sperling, Ipswich. (27/02/07) Class Colin Fitz - fuckin' excellent matey!!!! The line at the bottom for some reason I hadn't come across but I'll use that from now on. I've been looking for a quick response that encapsulates what I feel is the difference between us and them, and that I feel does it perfectly. Many thanks for that. Onwards Evertonians !!! Magicjuan. (27/02/07) Lost faith in Moyes I
have lost faith in the tactical know how of David Moyes, he seemed to
be quite happy for a draw last night when sending on Hibbert for "
As he put it the tired Fernandes". This is not the first time this
season that he has made errors in the timing and choice of substitutes,
one game that comes to mind is the Man City game at home, when his ill
timed substitutions gave impetus to the visitors, who duly grabbed with
both hands. Get Behind Moyes Lets be honest David Moyes has produced miracles for our club over the past 5 years, from a club that was scrapping to stay in the top flight and buying old has beens-Ginola, Gough, Gascoigne, to a team that is consistently in the top half of the league with young exciting players-Arteta, Johnson, Fernandes etc. We are now lying 3rd in 'our league' and every chance of finishing higher. Without major investment that is as good as it gets for the time being. So you tell me what other manager could come in and improve us to make us be able to compete consistently with the top 4- because that is our next step- without major investment. Everton fans need to get real and get behind Moyes and the team for a change, because all you ever get at Goodison is moaning and negativity. Alan (27/02/07) £15 away match petition Nearly 7k now signed. Not many from Merseyside. Any help appreciated. http://www.fsf.org.uk/petitions/away-tickets Mark Longden. National Committee Member. www.fsf.org.uk The Football Supporters’ Federation. (27/02/07) Fickle Fans How fickle are we as Everton fans? Do people really think David Moyes is a bad manager? I beg to differ, have we all forgot that this man has took us from relegation fodder to challenging for Europe. David Moyes is a level headed manager who will not risk the future by making big mistakes in the transfer market or on the pitch. Tottenham are a decent side and from what I seen we were lucky to be in the game anyway. I believe he will get us into Europe this season again on limited funds and minimum transfers. Lescott, Arteta, Johnson, and Cahill were astute signings and I reckon another dip in the Championship in the summer for Nugent will happen. Let's get off his back and support him and be grateful that we can believe in winning more than one game at a time playing some nice football for a change! The man has a plan and will see this club good. I for one am glad I can watch a game and know that we have a team to compete and foundations to be excited about rather than waiting on a dodgy Gareth Farrelly goal and other results to go our way. EFC forever! Sven. (27/02/07) Moyes has saved Everton from certain championship football. He's building a young, strong, quick and aggressive team. Just compare the players he's brought in Yobo, Lescott, Neville, Howard, Cahill, Fernandes, Arteta, Johnson with some of the players he inherited Jeffers, Campbell, Alexandersson, Gemmill, Nyarko, Linderoth, Gascoigne etc etc they were all journeymen at best when they played here. Not everyone he's bought has been a success (yet) Beattie for example but at the time he was the best we could get and Moyes didn't have the side he has now were he can be more patient in the transfer market and take less of a gamble. Can't say i'm too worried about our finances we seem able to compete don't we - bought Johnston for a fair bit and i'm sure Moyes' has got an eye on Fernandes for next season. The board is stable and that was something which didn't look possible a few seasons ago. I believe Kenwright will let investment come when its right, not just slutting ourselves to any rich investor who comes along. Moyes has earned himself plenty of time to achieve his goals at Everton. I believe we have a better team now than when we finished fourth. Keep the faith don't be fickle. Moz. (27/02/07) Frustration When
is the penny going to drop with Moyes? He says that he is frustrated...........then
what do you think the fans feel?.. and they are paying to watch! I heard
that there is going to be a protest about Kenwright and Investment.
I urge the fans to remain calm and lets see what happens in the summer.
I for one remember JOHNSON (Park Hampers), and the merry dance he lead
everyone, threatening the clubs status in the top flight. New Tattoo I am thinking of getting a new tattoo and I need some help. I want to find a translation of “once a blue always a blue” in Chinese (traditional or simplified). I would be most grateful if you could post this email as I have been unable to find out myself. Thank you in advance. Dava Watts. Wallasey. (27/02/07) Beattie "It will probably go down as the miss of the season but I’m not bothered". The more I read that the more it fucks me right off. Apologies for the aggressive start, so I'll continue with my point. Since I first chanted "Beattie Beattie Beattie" along with every other fan in the street end prior to the Portsmouth match in january 05, I have given James, Biffa, Beatts...whatever you like to call him every chance. As with AVDM I've kept the faith, believing he will come good no matter what and defy the critics. Between Jan an March 06 I thought "Mr I don't give a shit I'm fucking raking it in and having a laugh at the fans expense" was the best thing since Cottee, Dunc, Sharpey and other famous, honest players. Another hero. You know? After
reading what he's said, I think Moyes must be a fucking idiot if he
doesn't get shut in the summer and tell that fat lazy lump of shite
where to go. Lets be honest, we're all fucked to the back teeth of it
by now. He's not TV Coverage Could you let me know if the Everton vs Spurs match was shown on Sky in the UK not that I'm overly keen to watch it. But it was advertised to be shown in Oz and then when I woke up at 4am the Fregon Golf was on. I relate to what has been said about Everton getting poor coverage on TV. In the EPL highlights a few weeks back on Fox TV in Oz they didn't even include the Everton vs Blackburn footage . Maybe this home grown green stuff in Oz makes us convicts a bit paranoid, but I think not!!! Can't give my real name as they may depot me back to Kirkby. Don`t go there !!!!!! Suspicious Minds Oz. (27/02/07)
I think fellow Evertonians deserve an explanation about the 'planned' protest on Saturday against Watford. Last Thursday I was coming out of the hospital after visiting my mother when a journalist from the Mirror rings .He asked me about the planned protest for Saturday, I asked what protest? My mind was elsewhere. The journalist said he had spoke to several fans and there was one being organised about the lack of investment from the board. Well I said it was unusual for us to wash our dirty washing in public and were not really a 'banner' club. He asked me my views on the topic. So I gave my thoughts on the lack of investment from the present board and their inability in this climate to attract any potential investors, adding that not one penny has been put into the club only the buying of shares and there lies our problem. The Spurs game showed how small our squad is due to lack of funds. Remember Lescott and Johnson was bought on next season's Sky monies. In a nutshell
were frustrated about not moving on quicker after five years of Moyes
and six years of the present board and their track record of On radio
Merseyside they were getting a few callers about the lack of investment
and they rang me .I told Roger Philips the story and that as far Mike Parry
gets his knickers in a twist and announces his undying love of Bill
Kenwright and free seats in the director's box. I wonder about Mike At Watford
most got the jist already that we were not running on the pitch naked
with banners etc but the local police were still worried. So all in
all a hurricane was formed with no substance at all, but boy did some
bite? I only hope that it may have nudged or panicked Bill and co in
looking for real investment. Whilst on this subject I think to stop
all the mistrust, Bill just puts up the balloon we are for sale. If
there's no response then we have to accept were stuck with Bill for
better or worse. So
sorry fellow Blues about any embarrassment caused, I just thought you When I
give quotes I always say it's my opinion or our groups I never profess
to speak on behalf of all Evertonians. I would not dare there are Match Of The Day Why are Everton always on last on the match of the day highlights?? does it annoy anyone else or is it just me???? Jason Paton. (26/02/07) My seven-year-old son has to give a biography presentation in his second-grade class at Cornerstone School, Dexter, Michigan, next week. My wife and I suggested that he choose a footballer, and our son himself suggested Dixie Dean, having heard me tell him the stories my own father (born Southport, 1913, died Chelmsford, Essex, 1995) told of Dean, and having learned that it was the 100th anniversary of Dean’s birth recently. I’ve printed up for him a number of pieces from the Internet, including Ian Macdonald’s very engaging article on your own web site, but I’ve also noticed that Radio Merseyside broadcast a programme called “Remembering Dixie Dean” on 22 January (BBC - Liverpool - Sport - Remembering Dixie Dean). The download is no longer available (like most BBC podcasts, it was up on the web site only for seven days after broadcast), but I wondered if any Evertonians you knew had a copy that they could let us download for our son. Btw, I should add that, although we’re not Everton fans (I’ve been an Ipswich fan since my early teenage years, although I’ve always followed my first love, Southport, too), we do have some Toffee associations: our whole family (myself, my Russian wife, and our three sons, age ten, seven, and one) went to Columbus, Ohio, last summer to see Everton play the Columbus Crew in a pre-season friendly – we were very impressed with Anichebe, btw; the second FA Cup final I can remember watching was the 66 Final, and I still recall the pleasure my father and I took in Trebilcock’s goals; one of my fondest memories of childhood trips back to East Lancs was going to Goodison with my father; and I’ve always thought that one of the greatest sides I ever saw at Portman Road was the Everton team that won the 1970 League Championship (what a midfield!). As for Dean, I’ve always taken it for granted that he was the greatest English centre-forward of all time. I hope that I’ve done enough to persuade you that, if you do happen to know anyone with a copy of that broadcast, we’d be deserving people to get a copy, and I’d be very grateful for any help you could provide our son. With best wishes and thanks, Yours, MLM. (26/02/07) What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail info@bluekipper.com |
